1Gene editing and its applications in biomedicine显示文摘The steady progress in genome editing, especially genome editing based on the use of clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR) and programmable nucleases to make precise modifications to genetic material, has provided enormous opportunities to advance biomedical research and promote human health. The application of these technologies in basic biomedical research has yielded significant advances in identifying and studying key molecular targets relevant to human diseases and their treatment. The clinical translation of genome editing techniques offers unprecedented biomedical engineering capabilities in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of disease or disability. Here, we provide a general summary of emerging biomedical applications of genome editing, including open challenges. 2A transient multiphysics coupling method based on OpenFOAM for heat pipe cooled reactors显示文摘Differing from traditional pressurized water reactors(PWRs),heat pipe cooled reactors have the unique characteristics of fuel thermal expansion,expansion reactivity feedback,and thermal contact conductance.These reactors require a new multiphysics coupling method.In this paper,a transient coupling method based on OpenFOAM is proposed.The method considers power variation,thermal expansion,heat pipe operation,thermal contact conductance,and gap conductance.In particular,the reactivity feedback caused by working medium redistribution in a heat pipe is also preliminarily considered.A typical heat pipe cooled reactor KRUSTY(Kilowatt Reactor Using Stirling TechnologY)is chosen as the research object.Compared with experimental results of load following,the calculated results are in good agreement and show the validity of the proposed method.To discuss the self-adjusting capability of this type of reactor system,a hypothetical accident is simulated.It is assumed that at the beginning of this accident,loss of the heat sink occurs.After 1500 s of the transient process,the reactor system recovers immediately.During this hypothetical accident,the control rod is always out of the reactor core,and the reactor only relies on the reactivity feedback to regulate the fission power.According to the simulation,the peak temperature is only about 1112 K,which is far below the safety limit.As for system recovery,the reactor needs approximately 2500 s to return to a steady state and can realize effective power regulation by reactivity feedback.This study confirms the availability of this coupling method and that it can be an effective tool for the simulation of heat pipe cooled reactors.GUO YuChuan LI ZeGuang WANG Kan SU ZiLin 2022Science China(Technological Sciences)2022,65,1:4

4Significant flow velocity reduction at the intracranial aneurysm neck after endovascular treatment leads to favourable angiographic outcome:a prospective study显示文摘Background With widely usage of flow diverter in intracranial aneurysm treatment,some previously used predictors may not be effective in evaluating the recurrence risk.We aimed to comprehensively re-evaluate the predictors of intracranial aneurysm outcome with various endovascular treatment methods and devices.Methods This is a prospective registered study.We analysed 6-month and 18-month follow-up angiographic data from the prospective study.Data on patient demographics,aneurysm morphology and type of treatment were recorded.Patient-specific haemodynamic simulations were performed.An unfavourable angiographic outcome was defined as recurrence of aneurysm in cases with coiling or stent-assisted coiling,patency of aneurysm in cases with flow diverters or retreatment during follow-up.Results In total,165 patients(177 intracranial aneurysms)with at least one angiographic follow-up data were analysed.For the short-term(6-month)results,after univariate analysis,the demographic,morphological and treatment-related factors did not achieve significantly statistical differences.The reduction ratio(RR)of velocity at aneurysm neck after embolisation was significantly lower in the unfavourable angiographic group than the favourable angiographic outcome group(p=0.002).After the Cox regression analysis,the RR of velocity at aneurysm neck was the only independent factor associated with favourable angiographic outcome(OR 0.028;p=0.001)and had an acceptable area under the curve(0.714)with a clear cut-off value(46.14%).Similarly,for the analysis of midterm(18-month)results,the RR of velocity at the aneurysm neck was the only independent significant factor for the unfavourable angiographic outcome(OR 0.050;p=0.017).The area under the curve was 0.754 and the cut-off value was 48.20%.Conclusions The haemodynamics showed an independent effect on angiographic follow-up results and may provide helpful suggestions for clinical practice in the future.Zhongbin Tian Jian Liu Jay Kumar Wenqiang Li Yisen Zhang Ying Zhang Kun Wang Shengzhang Wang Zeguang Ren Xinjian Yang 2021Stroke & Vascular Neurology2021,6,3:1

7A study of spray granulation in vibrated fluidized bed with internal heating tubes显示文摘The granulation process in a vibratedfluidized bed with immersed horizontal heating tubes was studied in this paper,with small monoammonium phosphate particles as the initial particles and monoammonium phosphate solution sprayed on them.The concrete influences on the granulating performance of the immersed horizontal heating power,fluidizing gas velocity,vibration frequency and amplitude had been analyzed theoretically.The results show that appropriate vibration intensity is a preferred condition for the growth of partials,but thefine dust will become much more along with prolonged vibration.Increasing the heating power is beneficial to raise the growth rate.Particles will grow faster if thefluidizing gas velocity is higher,but this will cause morefine dust.The optimized condition of A=0.002 m,f=6.67 Hz,u=1.4 m/s was given after the analysis of the experimental results.In the end,a semiempirical formula was derived from the experiment data,and the calculation results show good agreement with the experimental data.Xiaoheng PAN Shichao YE Zeguang ZHANG Li ZHANG Xuejun ZHU 2009Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2009,3,1:0
