1Geochemical environmental changes and dinosaur extinction during the Cretaceous-Paleogene (K/T) transition in the Nanxiong Basin, South China: Evidence from dinosaur eggshells显示文摘The complex patterns of trace elements including Ir and isotope distributions in the three K/T sections of the Nanxiong Basin prove the existence of two environmental events in the latest Cretaceous and earliest Paleocene. The first geochemical environmental event occurred at about 2 Ma prior to the K/T boundary interval, where the dinosaur diversity was hardly reduced, except that a number of patho-logical eggshells appeared. The second one was larger and occurred just at and near the Creta-ceous-Paleogene (K/T) boundary. The extinction of the dinosaurs spread out within 250 ka with major extinction beginning at the boundary interval. This is even later than their extinction in Montana, North America and in India. The cause of the dinosaur extinction may be the result of a complex multiple events brought about by the coincidence of global environment change marked by multiple Ir and δ 18O anomalies, and environmental poisoning characterized by other trace elements derived from the local source. 3The receptor-like cytoplasmic kinase RIPK regulates broad-spectrum ROS signaling in multiple layers of plant immune system显示文摘Production of reactive oxygen species(ROS)via the activity of respiratory burst oxidase homologs(RBOHs)plays a vital role in multiple layers of the plant immune system,including pathogen-associated molecular pattern-triggered immunity(PTI),damage-associated molecular pattern-triggered immunity(DTI),effector-triggered immunity(ETI),and systemic acquired resistance(SAR).It is generally established that RBOHD is activated by different receptor-like cytoplasmic kinases(RLCKs)in response to various immune elicitors.In this study,we showed that RPM1-INDUCED PROTEIN KINASE(RIPK),an RLCK VII subfamily member,contributes to ROS production in multiple layers of plant immune system.The ripk mutants showed reduced ROS production in response to treatment with all examined immune elicitors that trigger PTI,DTI,ETI,and SAR.We found that RIPK can directly phosphorylate the N-terminal region of RBOHD in vitro,and the levels of phosphorylated S343/S347 residues of RBOHD are sigfniciantly lower in ripk mutants compared with the wild type upon treatment with all tested immune elicitors.We further demonstrated that phosphorylation of RIPK is required for its function in regulating RBOHD-mediated ROS production.Similar to rbohd,ripk mutants showed reduced stomatal closure and impaired SAR,and were susceptible to the necrotrophic bacterium Pectobacterium carotovorum.Collectively,our results indicate that RIPK regulates broad-spectrum RBOHD-mediated ROS signaling during PTI,DTI,ETI,and SAR,leading to subsequent RBOHD-dependent immune responses.Ping Li Lulu Zhao Fan Qi Nang Myint Phyu Sin Htwe Qiuying Li Dawei Zhang Fucheng Lin Keke Shang-Guan Yan Liang 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,10:5
4Effects of Long-term Fertilization on Soil M icrobial Com m unity Structure,Labile Organic Carbon and Nitrogen and Enzym e Activity in Paddy Field and Upland显示文摘To investigate the effects of long-term fertilization systems on soil microbial community structure,labile organic carbon and nitrogen and enzyme activity in yellow sand paddy field and upland,a field experiment was conducted at the experimental station of Dongyang Institute of Maize Research in Zhejiang Province,China in 2009.The experiment consisted of six treatments with three replicates,and they were arranged in a completely randomized design,including no fertilization in paddy field (PCK),conventional fertilization in paddy field (PCF),formulated fertilization by soil testing in paddy field (PSTF),formulated fertilization by soil testing with organic manure in paddy field (PSTF+OF),conventional fertilization on upland (DCF),and formulated fertilization by soil testing with organic manure on upland (DSTF+OF).Soil nutrients,enzyme activity,microbial biomass and community structure were determined in 2015.The results showed that compared with no fertilization in paddy field (PCK),fertilization increased soil phosphorus and potassium content,and decreased pH value.No fertilization in paddy field (PCK) had no significant effect on soil culturable microorganisms in paddy field and upland,but formulated fertilization by soil testing with organic manure on upland (DSTF+OF) significantly increased the number of fungi.Formula fertilization by soil testing with organic manure (PSTF+OF) also significantly increased soil microbial biomass carbon and nitrogen in paddy field and upland.Moreover,fertilization had no significant effect on soil cellulase activity,but formula fertilization by soil testing with organic manure (PSTF+OF) significantly increased soil dehydrogenase and catalase activity.Therefore,long-term application of chemical fertilizer with organic fertilizer can effectively improve soil fertility.Wang Guiyue Su Ting Han Hailiang Tan Heping Bao Fei Zhao Fucheng 2019Meteorological and Environmental Research2019,10,5:4

10Effect of GNPs on microstructures and mechanical properties of GNPs/Al-Cu composites with different heat treatment status显示文摘Microstructural and mechanical behavior of heat treatable Al-4.6Cu binary alloy reinforced with graphene nanoplates(GNPs) in different heat treatment status were investigated in this paper.The addition of GNPs significantly enhanced the yield strength and tensile strength of Al-Cu alloy regardless of the heattreatment conditions.It was also found that GNPs accelerated the formation of precipitates,leading to a greatly shortened aging time for GNPs/Al-4.6Cu composite to reach the peak hardness.However,aging treatment enhanced the strength of GNPs/Al-Cu composite very little,which could be explained by the interaction between GNPs,precipitates and dislocations.This work inspires us that the heat treatment process of aluminum alloy matrix composites should be designed independently with the matrix in quest of an optimum performance.Tielong Han Fucheng Wang Jiajun Li Chunnian He Naiqin Zhao 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,33:1
11Injectable“cocktail”hydrogel with dual-stimuli-responsive drug release,photothermal ablation,and drug-antibody synergistic effect显示文摘The combination of the first-line standard chemotherapeutic drug doxorubicin hydrochloride(DOX)and the molecular-targeted drug Herceptin(HCT)has emerged as a promising strategy for human epidermal growth receptor 2(HER-2)overexpressing breast cancer treatment.However,insufficient drug accumulation and severe cardiotoxicity are two major challenges that limit its clinical application.Herein,an in situ forming gold nanorods(AuNRs)-sodium alginate(ALG)hybrid hydrogel encapsulating DOX and HCT was engineered for tumor synergistic therapy involving injectable,dual-stimuli-responsive drug release,photothermal ablation,and drug-antibody synergistic therapy.The photothermal agent AuNRs,anticancer drug DOX,and anticancer antibody HCT were mixed in ALG solution,and after injection,the soluble ALG was quickly transformed into a hydrogel in the presence of Ca^(2+)in the body.Significantly,the hybrid hydrogel exhibits an extremely high photothermal conversion efficiency of 70%under 808 nm laser irradiation.The thermal effect can also provide photothermal stimulation to trigger the drug release from the gel matrix.In addition,the drug release rate and the releasing degree are also sensitive to the pH.In vitro studies demonstrated that the PEI-AuNR/DOX/HCT/ALG hydrogel has facilitated the therapeutic efficiency of each payload and demonstrated a strong synergistic killing effect on SK-BR-3 cells.In vivo imaging results showed that the local drug delivery system can effectively reduce the nonspecific distribution in normal tissues and increase drug concentration at tumor sites.The proposed hydrogel system shows significant clinical implications by easily introducing a sustainable photothermal therapy and a potential universal carrier for the local delivery of multiple drugs to overcome the challenges faced in HER-2 overexpressing cancer therapy.Li Zhao Jiawen Xu Yao Tong Pengyu Gong Fucheng Gao Hui Li Yanyan Jiang 2024SmartMat2024,5,2:0
12Two types of coumarins-specific enzymes complete the last missing steps in pyran- and furanocoumarins biosynthesis显示文摘Pyran-and furanocoumarins are key representatives of tetrahydropyrans and tetrahydrofurans,respectively,exhibiting diverse physiological and medical bioactivities.However,the biosynthetic mechanisms for their core structures remain poorly understood.Here we combined multiomics analyses of biosynthetic enzymes in Peucedanum praeruptorum and in vitro functional verification and identified two types of key enzymes critical for pyran and furan ring biosynthesis in plants.These included three distinct P.praeruptorum prenyltransferases(PpPT1e3)responsible for the prenylation of the simple coumarin skeleton 7 into linear or angular precursors,and two novel CYP450 cyclases(PpDC and PpOC)crucial for the cyclization of the linear/angular precursors into either tetrahydropyran or tetrahydrofuran scaffolds.Biochemical analyses of cyclases indicated that acid/base-assisted epoxide ring opening contributed to the enzyme-catalyzed tetrahydropyran and tetrahydrofuran ring refactoring.The possible acid/base-assisted catalytic mechanisms of the identified cyclases were theoretically investigated and assessed using site-specific mutagenesis.We identified two possible acidic amino acids Glu303 in PpDC and Asp301 in PpOC as vital in the catalytic process.This study provides new enzymatic tools in the epoxide formation/epoxide-opening mediated cascade reaction and exemplifies how plants become chemically diverse in terms of enzyme function and catalytic process.Yucheng Zhao Yuedong He Liangliang Han Libo Zhang Yuanzheng Xia Fucheng Yin Xiaobing Wang Deqing Zhao Sheng Xu Fei Qiao Yibei Xiao Lingyi Kong 2024Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2024,14,2:0
13Formation of the Zengmu and Beikang Basins,and West Baram Line in the southwestern South China Sea margin显示文摘The Zengmu and Beikang basins,separated by the West Baram Line(WBL)in the southwestern South China Sea margin,display distinct geological and geophysical features.However,the nature of the basins and the WBL are debated.Here we explore this issue by conducting the stratigraphic and structural interpretation,faults and subsidence analysis,and lithospheric finite extension modelling using seismic data.Results show that the WBL is a trans-extensional fault zone comprising normal faults and flower structures mainly active in the Late Eocene to Early Miocene.The Zengmu Basin,to the southwest of the WBL,shows an overall synformal geometry,thick folded strata in the Late Eocene to Late Miocene(40.4-5.2 Ma),and pretty small normal faults at the basin edge,which imply that the Zengmu Basin is a foreland basin under the Luconia and Borneo collision in the Sarawak since the Eocene.Furthermore,the basin exhibits two stages of subsidence(fast in 40.4-30 Ma and slow in 30-0 Ma);but the amount of observed subsidence and heat flow are both greater than that predicted by crustal thinning.The Beikang Basin,to the NE of the WBL,consists of the syn-rift faulted sub-basins(45-16.4 Ma)and the post-rift less deformed sequences(16.4-0 Ma).The heat flow(~60 mW/m2)is also consistent with that predicted based on crustal thinning,inferring that it is a rifted basin.However,the basin shows three stages of subsidence(fast in 45-30 Ma,uplift in 30-16.4 Ma,and fast in 16.4-0 Ma).In the uplift stage,the strata were partly folded in the Late Oligocene and partly eroded in the Early Miocene,which is probably caused by the flexural bulging in response to the paleo-South China Sea subduction and the subsequent Dangerous Grounds and Borneo collision in the Sabah to the east of the WBL.Bing HAN Zhongxian ZHAO Xiaofang WANG Zhen SUN Fucheng LI Benduo ZHU Yongjian YAO Liqiang LIU Tianyue PENG Genyuan LONG 2023Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2023,41,2:0
