1A New Species of the Genus Trimeresurus from Southwest China(Squamata:Viperidae)显示文摘Species from the Trimeresurus popeiorum complex(Subgenus: Popeia) is a very complex group. T. popeiorum is the only Popeia species known from China. During the past two years, five adult Popeia specimens(4 males, 1 female) were collected from Yingjiang County, Southern Yunnan, China. Molecular, morphological and ecological data show distinct differences from known species, herein we describe these specimens as a new species Trimeresurus yingjiangensis sp. nov Chen, Ding, Shi and Zhang, 2018. Morphologically, the new species distinct from other Popeia species by a combination of following characters:(1) dorsal body olive drab,without cross bands on the scales;(2) a conspicuous bicolor ventrolateral stripe present on each side of males, first row of dorsal scales firebrick with a white ellipse dot on posterior upper part in male, these strips absent in females;(3) eyes firebrick in both gender;(4) suboculars separated from 3rd upper labial by one scale on each side;(5) ventrals 164–168(n = 5);(6) MSR 21.Zening CHEN Liang ZHANG Jingsong SHI Yezhong TANG Yuhong GUO Zhaobin SONG Li DING 2019Asian Herpetological Research2019,10,1:2
2A New Leaf Litter Toad of Leptobrachella Smith, 1925(Anura, Megophryidae) from Sichuan Province, China with Supplementary Description of L. oshanensis显示文摘A new species of the Asian leaf litter toad genus Leptobrachella is described from Sichuan Province, China. Molecular phylogenetic analyses based on mitochondrial and nuclear gene sequences clustered the new species as an independent clade nested into L. oshanensis species group. The new species could be distinguished from its congeners by a combination of following characters: body size moderate(25.8–32.6 mm in male, 33.7–34.1 mm in female);distinct black spots present on flanks;toes rudimentary webbed, with narrow lateral fringes, dermal ridges under toes interrupted at articulations;ventral belly cream white with variable brown specking;skin on dorsum relatively smooth with fine tiny granules or short ridges;iris copper above, silver bellow;greyish black patches on posterior thigh absent or small;spines on surface of chest absent in male during breeding season;nasals entirely or partially separated from sphenethmoid in male;dorsal surface of tadpoles semitransparent light brown, spots on tail absent, keratodont row formula I: 3+3(2+2)/2+2: I;calls simple, call series basically consist of repeated long calls, at dominant frequency(4831.9 ± 155.8) Hz and call duration(544.5 ± 146.8) ms. In addition, we made supplementary description on L. oshanensis including holotype, variations, tadpoles, skull and bioacoustics. 6Integrative taxonomy helps to reveal the mask of the genus Gynandropaa (Amphibia: Anura: Dicroglossidae)显示文摘Species of the genus Gynandropaa within the family Dicroglossidae are typical spiny frogs whose taxonomic status has long been in doubt.We used integrative methods,involving morphological and molecular analyses,to elucidate the phylogenetic relationships,and to determine identities and the geographic distribution of each val­id species.We obtained DNA sequence data of 5 species of Gynandropaa(complete sequences of the mitochon­drial NADH dehydrogenase subunit 2[ND2]gene,and 890 bp of 12S rRNA and 16S rRNA partial sequences)from 37 localities(including the topotypes of 5 described species)and constructed Bayesian and maximum-like­lihood trees to examine the patterns of phylogeography.A total of 28 morphological variables were taken on 624 specimens.Three clades with clear geographic patterns were recognized:clade C(from south-western Sich­uan Province and central Yunnan Province),clade E(western Guizhou Province and eastern to central Yunnan Province)and clade W(western to southern Yunnan Province).Integrating morphological characteristics and distribution information,the clades W,E and C represent Gynandropaa yunnanensis,G.phrynoides and G.si­chuanensis,respectively.We draw the following conclusions:(i)the taxon G.phrynoides,formerly evaluated as a junior synonym of G.yunnanensis,is revalidated herein at the rank of species;(ii)G.liui is a junior synonym of G.sichuanensis;and(iii)G.yunnanensis is a valid species while G.bourreti is probably a subspecies of G.yunnanensis,with the distribution range from Vietnam to southern Yunnan Province.This study clears up the taxonomic status of Gynandropaa and provides important information for understanding the evolution and con­servation of these spiny frogs.Yan HUANG Junhua HU Bin WANG Zhaobin SONG Caiquan ZHOU Jianping JIANG 2016Integrative Zoology2016,11,2:1

9The Effect of Methylation Modification of MDD on the Expression of Key Genes in the Process of Saponin Synthesis in Eleutherococcus senticosus显示文摘Mevalonate pyrophosphate decarboxylase is a kind of key enzyme in the terpenoid synthesis pathway in Eleutherococcus senticosus.The results of bisulfite sequencing showed that there were three kinds of samples with a low(0.68%),medium(0.72%)and high(0.79%)DNA methylation ratio in the promoter of MDD in E.senticosus,respectively.The transcriptome sequencing results showed that the expression of MDD in E.senticosus was significantly up-regulated in the types with low DNA methylation ratios of MDD(P<0.05).There was a significant negative correlation between the saponin content in E.senticosus and the DNA methylation ratio of MDD promoter(P<0.05).The screening results of differentially expressed transcription factors among the three groups with different DNA methylation ratio showed that a total of 4 transcription factors could bind to 6 CpG sites.Protein-protein interaction analysis showed that E.senticosus MDD could interacted with other key enzymes in the process of terpenoid synthesis.In addition,it was found that the DNA methylation of MDD promoter was mainly regulated by DNA methyltransferase.These results demonstrated that under the action of DNA methyltransferase,the changes of DNA methylation of MDD promoter could regulate its own expression level by affecting the combination ability of transcription factors,and then affected the expression of other genes in terpenoid synthesis pathway.The synthesis and accumulation of saponins in E.senticosus was also changed.Minghui Cui Limei Lin Jie Zhang Xin Song Shuo Wang Jing Dong Xuelei Zhao Yuehong Long Zhaobin Xing 2022Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2022,91,12:0
10An Annotated List of Lizards(Sauria: Squamata) Recorded from the People's Republic of China显示文摘From the perspectives of biodiversity conservation and management, there is an urgent need to have at hand current synopses of classification and distributions of species. In this paper, we review and summa rize the classifica tions, Chinese a nd English names, type specimens, type localities and distributions of China’s lizard fauna to promote scientific exchange and species conservation among relevant people in China and internationally. As of December 31, 2020, a total of 230species of lizard, belonging to 44 genera and 12 families,have been recorded from China, including 4 invasive species: 2 in the family Gekkonidae, 1 in Iguanidae and one in Dactyloidae. There are 115 endemic species, accounting for 50% of this group. The proportion of endemic species to China was the highest in the family Eublepharidae(84.62%), and the number of endemic species to China was the highest in the family Agamidae(42 species). The species distributions and classifica tion in the “Fa una Sinica(Reptilia 2): Squamata(Lacertilia)” were updated.Among the provincial administrative units, there is a larger number of species in the southern provinces, such as Yunnan, Guangdong, Guangxi and Taiwan. Sichuan, Yunnan, and Taiwan harbour relatively more endemic species than others. 11Integrative analysis of transcriptome and metabolome reveals the effect of DNA methylation of chalcone isomerase gene in promoter region on Lithocarpus polystachyus Rehd flavonoids显示文摘Metabolite biosynthesis is regulated by gene expression,which is altered by DNA methylation in the promoter region.Chalcone isomerase(CHI)gene encodes a key enzyme in the Lithocarpus polystachyus Rehd flavonoid pathway,and the expression of L.polystachyus CHI(LpCHI)is closely related to the synthesis of flavonoid metabolites.In this study,we analyzed the DNA methylation site of the LpCHI promoter and its effect on gene expression and metabolite accumulation.The proportions of three types of LpCHI promoter DNA methylation are 7.5%,68.75%,18.75%,determined by bisulfite sequencing.Transcriptome sequencing shows that LpCHI is strongly up-regulated in LpCHI promoter methylation Type A but down-regulated in LpCHI promoter methylation Type B and Type C.The expression of LpCHI shows no significant difference between Type B and Type C.Moreover,nine kinds of differentially expressed transcription factors(DETFs)bind to seven CpG-sites of the LpCHI promoter region to regulate LpCHI expression.The results of metabolomics show that differentially accumulated flavonoids are higher in LpCHI promoter methylation Type A than in LpCHI promoter methylation Type B and Type C.Additionally,a positive correlation was found between the LpCHI expression and flavonoids accumulation.These results show that the effect of CpG site-specificity on gene transcription is great than that of overall promoter DNA methylation on gene transcription.The mechanisms of flavonoid genes regulating metabolite accumulation are further revealed.Limei Lin Shuqing Wang Jie Zhang Xin Song Duoduo Zhang Wenwen Cheng Minghui Cui Yuehong Long Zhaobin Xing 2022Synthetic and Systems Biotechnology2022,7,3:0
12An agent-based model with antibody dynamics information in COVID-19 epidemic simulation显示文摘Accurate prediction of the temporal and spatial characteristics of COVID-19 infection is of paramount importance for effective epidemic prevention and control.In order to accomplish this objective,we incorporated individual antibody dynamics into an agent-based model and devised a methodology that encompasses the dynamic behaviors of each individual,thereby explicitly capturing the count and spatial distribution of infected individuals with varying symptoms at distinct time points.Our model also permits the evaluation of diverse prevention and control measures.Based on our findings,the widespread employment of nucleic acid testing and the implementation of quarantine measures for positive cases and their close contacts in China have yielded remarkable outcomes in curtailing a less transmissible yet more virulent strain;however,they may prove inadequate against highly transmissible and less virulent variants.Additionally,our model excels in its ability to trace back to the initial infected case(patient zero)through early epidemic patterns.Ultimately,our model extends the frontiers of traditional epidemiological simulation methodologies and offers an alternative approach to epidemic modeling.Zhaobin Xu Jian Song Weidong Liu Dongqing Wei 2023Infectious Disease Modelling2023,8,4:0

14A New Species of Trimeresurus Lacépède, 1804(Squamata: Viperidae) from Southwestern China, Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar显示文摘The pit vipers of the genus Trimeresurus Lacépède, 1804 is one of the largest groups of Asian snakes, distributed from India to China and Indonesia. Recent surveys in Jiangcheng and Simao, Yunnan Province, China resulted in a new species previously allocated to T. albolabris. Combining morphological and molecular data, we describe it as Trimeresurus guoi sp. nov. The new species morphologically differs from T. albolabris in the yellow green ventral color;an indistinct ventrolateral line;the a bsence of a postocular stripe;the firebrickred iris;a dark red stripe on dorsal tail;hemipenes with relatively weak sparse papillae, reaching 23 rd subcaudal when unextruded. Molecularly, the new species forms a clearly divergent lineage(BPP 1.00/UFB 100).
