| 1 | Is urban development an urban river killer? A case study of Yongding Diversion Channel in Beijing, China显示文摘The high population and concrete environment alter urban areas by changing temperature, rainfall runoff, and water resource utilization activities. This study was conducted to investigate the water quality features of the Yongding Diversion Channel in Beijing, China, and its relationship with rainfall and urban development. Monthly water quality data were obtained from April to October of 2004 at monitoring sites of Sanjiadian, Gaojing, Luodaozhuang, and Yuyuangtan. The monthly water quality grades from 2007 to 2011 were also investigated and compared with those of other rivers. Dissolved oxygen and pH showed greater decreases after one or two moderate rainfall events than several light rainfall events. The potassium permanganate index(CODMn), ammonia nitrogen(NH3-N) and total phosphorus(TP) increased more after several light rainfall events than after one or two moderate or heavy rainfall events. Pollutant concentrations(CODMn, NH3-N, TP) in downstream regions showed greater changes than those in upstream areas after heavy rainfall events. Intense human activities around the channel greatly influenced the water quality of the channel in rainy season because of runoff pollution; however, heavy rainfall had a strong dilution effect on the pollutant concentrations in rivers. Overall, urban development has obviously deteriorated the water quality of the Yongding Diversion Channel as indicated by an increase in the water quality index from 3.22 in 2008 to 4.55 in2010. | 2 | Atmospheric Corrosion of Copper Exposed in a Simulated Coastal-Industrial Atmosphere显示文摘The corrosion behavior of copper exposed in a simulated coastal-industrial atmosphere has been investigated using weight loss measurement, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, potentiodynamic polarization and in-situ electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) with micro-distance electrodes.The results show that corrosion kinetics follows the empirical equation D = Atn. The main corrosion products are composed of Cu_2O, Cu_2Cl(OH)_3 and Cu_4Cl_2(OH)_6. A two-layer structure comprising a loose outer layer and a compact inner layer forms the corrosion products during corrosion process. | 3 | Corrosion behavior of copper T2 and brass H62 in simulated Nansha marine atmosphere显示文摘The accelerated corrosion behavior of copper T2 and brass H62 exposed in simulated Nansha marine atmosphere for different periods were investigated by weight loss method, SEM, XRD and potentiodynamic polarization measurements. The results indicate that copper T2 and brass H62 underwent severe corrosion, and the final corrosion rates at 32 days of exposure were 0.24 (μm/d and 0.10 (xm/d, respectively. Moreover, the overall corrosion type of copper T2 was uniform and the corrosion products Cu2O and Cu2C1(OH)3 played a vital role in the corrosion rate of copper. While the dezincification corrosion with zinc preferential dissolution was obvious in brass H62. The predominant phases were the zinc-rich compounds Zn5(OH)8Cl2 H2O, Zni2(SO4)3Cl3(OH)15 5H20 and NaZn4(SO4)Cl(OH)6.6H2O. | 7 | Experimental and numerical investigation of threedimensional vortex structures of a pitching airfoil at a transitional Reynolds number显示文摘This research examines the vortex behaviors and aerodynamic forces in dynamic stall phenomena at a transitional Reynolds number(Re=90000)using experimental and numerical approaches.Periodic sinusoidal pitching motion at two different reduced frequencies is used to achieve the dynamic stall of a NACA 0012 airfoil.Several leading edge vortices form and detach in the dynamic stall stage.The flow then quickly transitions to a full separation zone in the stall stage when the angle of attack starts to decrease.There is discrepancy between the phaseaveraged and instantaneous flow field in that the small flow structures increased with angle of attack,which is a characteristic of the flow field at the transitional Reynolds number.The interaction between the streamwise vortices in the three-dimensional numerical results and the leading edge vortex are the main contribution to the turbulent flow.In addition,the leading edge vortex that supplies vortex lift is more stable at higher reduced frequency,which decreases the lift fluctuation in the dynamic stall stage.The leading edge vortex at higher reduced frequency is strong enough to stabilize the flow,even when the airfoil is in the down-stroke phase. | Zhenyao LI Lihao FENG Hamid Reza KARBASIAN Jinjun WANG Kyung Chun KIM | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2019,32,10: | 2 |
| 8 | Nanosecond pulsed laser-assisted modified copper surface structure:Enhanced surface microhardness and microbial corrosion resistance显示文摘Microbiologically influenced corrosion(MIC) is an unavoidable problem in several industries. Copper(Cu)and its alloys are widely used engineering materials. However, MIC of Cu remains a persistent challenge to their performance and functional lifetime under aggressive environments. This study investigated nanosecond pulsed laser processing(LP), which may enhance the corrosion resistance of Cu. The microstructural evolution and corrosion behavior of LP-Cu in the presence of sulfate-reducing bacteria(SRB) were evaluated. Typical deformation-induced microstructural features of high-density dislocations were analyzed on the top surface of LP-Cu coupon. Electrochemical measurements suggested that LP-Cu coupons exhibited better corrosion resistance in SRB-inoculated solution compared with their original counterpart. The enhanced corrosion resistance by LP primarily resulted from the combined influences of compressive residual stress and work hardening in the surface. However, overlap percentage played a key role in improving corrosion resistance. LP produced optimal corrosion resistance at 50% overlap.
