| 2 | Electrochemical properties of carbon-coated LiFePO_4 and LiFe_(0.98)Mn_(0.02)PO_4 cathode materials synthesized by solid-state reaction显示文摘Olivine structured LiFePO 4 /C (lithium iron phosphate) and Mn 2+ -doped LiFe 0.98 Mn 0.02 PO 4 /C powders were synthesized by the solid-state reaction. The effects of manganese partial substitution and different carbon content coating on the surface of LiFePO 4 were considered. The structures and electrochemical properties of the samples were measured by X-ray diffraction (XRD), cyclic voltammetry (CV), charge/discharge tests at different current densities, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The electrochemical properties of LiFePO 4 cathodes with x wt.% carbon coating (x= 3, 7, 11, 15) at =0.2C, 2C (1C= 170 mAh·g 1 ) between 2.5 and 4.3 V were investigated. The measured results mean that the LiFePO 4 with 7 wt.% carbon coating shows the best rate performance. The discharge capacity of LiFe 0.98 Mn 0.02 PO 4 /C composite is found to be 165 mAh·g 1 at a discharge rate, = 0.2C, and 105 mAh·g 1 at =2C, respectively. After 10 cycles, the discharge capacity has rarely fallen, while that of the pristine LiFePO 4 /C cathode is 150 mAh·g 1 and 98 mAh·g 1 at =0.2 and 2C, respectively. | 3 | Microstructure and magnetic properties of electrodeposited Gd-Co alloy films显示文摘Gd-Co alloy films were synthesized by potentiostatic electrolysis on Cu substrates in urea-acetamide-NaBr-KBr melt at 353 K. The elec- troreduction of Co2+ and Gd3+ was investigated by cyclic voltammetry. The reduction of Co2+ is an irreversible process. Gd3+ cannot be re- duced alone, but it can be inductively co-deposited with Co2+. Both the Gd content and microstructure of the prepared Gd-Co alloy films can be controlled by the deposited potential. The content of Gd was analyzed using an inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometer (ICPES), and the microstructure was observed by scanning electron micrograph (SEM). The films were crystallized by heat-treatment at 823 K for 30 s in Ar atmosphere, and then were investigated by XRD. The hysteresis loops of the Gd-Co alloy films were measured by a vibrat- ing sample magnetometer (VSM). The experimental results reveal that the deposited Gd-Co alloy films are amorphous, while the annealing causes the samples to change from amorphous to polycrystalline, thus enhancing their magnetocrystalline anisotropy and coercivity. | 4 | Rice(Oryza sativa L.)seedlings enriched with zinc or manganese:Their impacts on cadmium accumulation and expression of related genes显示文摘Cadmium(Cd)contamination in paddy soils means that the rice produced there may be unsafe for human consumption.A hydroponic study was conducted to enrich rice seedlings with zinc(Zn)or manganese(Mn),and the uptake and transport characteristics of Cd in these Zn-and Mn-rich seedlings were subsequently investigated using a greenhouse pot trial.The results showed that hydroponic cultivation in 10-50μmol L^(-1) Zn(ZnSO_(4)·7 H_(2)O)or50-250μmol L^(-1) Mn(MnSO_(4)·H_(2)O)for 30 d had no significant impact on rice growth,while the accumulation of Zn and Mn was 7.31-18.5 and 25.4-47.7 times higher,respectively,than in the control(no Zn or Mn addition).The accumulation of Cd in the Zn-and Mn-rich rice plants was 26.3%-38.6% and 34.4%-44.5% lower than that in the control,respectively,and the translocation factors of Cd from roots to shoots also decreased by 23.3%-41.3% and 25.3%-37.0%,respectively,after transplanting to Cd-contaminated soils.Furthermore,the relative expression levels of OsIRT1(Oryza sativa iron-regulated transporter 1)were downregulated by 40.1%-59.3% and 16.0%-25.9%,respectively,in the Zn-and Mn-rich seedling roots.This downregulation may indicate a possible mechanism contributing to the reductions in Cd absorption.Field experiments confirmed that the Zn-and Mn-rich seedlings produced brown rice(unpolished rice grains)with significantly decreased concentrations of Cd(34.2%-44.4%).This study provides an innovative method for reducing the food safety risks from rice grown on slightly to moderately Cd-contaminated paddy soils. | Gaoxiang HUANG Changfeng DING Yibing MA Yurong WANG Zhigao ZHOU Shun'an ZHENG Xingxiang WANG | 2021 | Pedosphere2021,31,6: | 2 |
| 5 | Flower-like ZnO modified with BiOI nanoparticles as adsorption/catalytic bifunctional hosts for lithium–sulfur batteries显示文摘Due to the high specific capacity and energy density, lithium–sulfur battery is regarded as a potential energy storage conversion system. However, the serious shuttle effect and the sluggish electrochemical reaction kinetics impede the practical use of lithium–sulfur battery. In the interests of breaking through the above knotty problems, herein we propose to use the polar flower-like Zn O modified by Bi OI nanoparticles as bifunctional host with catalytic and adsorption ability for polysulfides in lithium–sulfur battery.It can be found that this adsorption/catalytic host integrates the functions of adsorption and mutual catalytic conversion of polysulfides, in which the polar flower-like Zn O can effectively capture the polysulfides through strong polar-polar interaction, simultaneously the BiOI nanoparticles can accelerate the mutual conversion of polysulfides to Li2 S through reducing the activation energy and conversion energy barrier required for the electrochemical reaction. As a result, under a sulfur loading of 2.5 mg cm^(-2), the lithium–sulfur battery with Zn O/Bi OI/CNT/S as cathode reveals a considerable initial specific capacity of1267 mAh g^(-1) at a current density of 0.1 C. Even the current density increased to 1 C, the capacity can reach as 873.4 mAh g^(-1), together with a good capacity retention of 67.1% after 400 cycles. | 7 | Generation and application of replication-competent Venus-expressing H5N1,H7N9,and H9N2 influenza A viruses显示文摘The generation and application of replication-competent influenza A virus(IAV) expressing a reporter gene represent a valuable tool to elucidate the mechanism of viral pathogenesis and establish new countermeasures to combat the threat of influenza. Here, replication-competent IAVs with a neuraminidase(NA) segment harboring a fluorescent reporter protein, Venus, were generated in the background of H5N1, H7N9, and H9N2 influenza viruses, the three subtypes of viruses with imminent pandemic potential. All three reporter viruses maintained virion morphology, replicated with similar or slightly reduced titers relative to their parental viruses, and stably expressed the fluorescent signal for at least two passages in embryonated chicken eggs. As a proof of concept, we demonstrated that these reporter viruses,used in combination with a high-content imaging system, can serve as a convenient and rapid tool for the screening of antivirals and host factors involved in the virus life cycle. | 10 | Metabolomic modulations in a freshwater microbial community exposed to the fungicide azoxystrobin显示文摘An effective broad-spectrum fungicide,azoxystrobin(AZ),has been widely detected in aquatic ecosystems,potentially affecting the growth of aquatic microorganisms.In the present study,the eukaryotic alga Monoraphidium sp.and the cyanobacterium Pseudanabaena sp.were exposed to AZ for 7 days.Our results showed that 0.2–0.5 mg/L concentrations of AZ slightly inhibited the growth of Monoraphidium sp.but stimulated Pseudanabaena sp.growth.Meanwhile,AZ treatment effectively increased the secretion of total organic carbon(TOC)in the culture media of the two species,and this phenomenon was also found in a freshwater microcosm experiment(containing the natural microbial community).We attempted to assess the effect of AZ on the function of aquatic microbial communities through metabolomic analysis and further explore the potential risks of this compound.The metabonomic profiles of the microcosm indicated that the most varied metabolites after AZ treatment were related to the citrate cycle(TCA),fatty acid biosynthesis and purine metabolism.We thereby inferred that the microbial community increased extracellular secretions by adjusting metabolic pathways,which might be a stress response to reduce AZ toxicity.Our results provide an important theoretical basis for further study of fungicide stress responses in aquatic microcosm microbial communities,as well as a good start for further explorations of AZ detoxification mechanisms,which will be valuable for the evaluation of AZ environmental risk. | Mengwei Zhang Wanyue Liu Qian Qu Mingjing Ke Zhenyan Zhang Zhigao Zhou Tao Lu Haifeng Qian | 2020 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,11: | 0 |
