1Nanophotonic media for artificial neural inference显示文摘We show optical waves passing through a nanophotonic medium can perform artificial neural computing.Complex information is encoded in the wavefront of an input light. The medium transforms the wavefront to realize sophisticated computing tasks such as image recognition. At the output, the optical energy is concentrated in well-defined locations, which, for example, can be interpreted as the identity of the object in the image.These computing media can be as small as tens of wavelengths and offer ultra-high computing density. 3Optical tuning of exciton and trion emissions in monolayer phosphorene显示文摘Monolayer phosphorene provides a unique two-dimensional(2D)platform to investigate the fundamental dynamics of excitons and trions(charged excitons)in reduced dimensions.However,owing to its high instability,unambiguous identification of monolayer phosphorene has been elusive.Consequently,many important fundamental properties,such as exciton dynamics,remain underexplored.We report a rapid,noninvasive,and highly accurate approach based on optical interferometry to determine the layer number of phosphorene,and confirm the results with reliable photoluminescence measurements.Furthermore,we successfully probed the dynamics of excitons and trions in monolayer phosphorene by controlling the photo-carrier injection in a relatively low excitation power range.Based on our measured optical gap and the previously measured electronic energy gap,we determined the exciton binding energy to be~0.3 eV for the monolayer phosphorene on SiO_(2)/Si substrate,which agrees well with theoretical predictions.A huge trion binding energy of~100 meV was first observed in monolayer phosphorene,which is around five times higher than that in transition metal dichalcogenide(TMD)monolayer semiconductor,such as MoS_(2).The carrier lifetime of exciton emission in monolayer phosphorene was measured to be,220 ps,which is comparable to those in other 2D TMD semiconductors.Our results open new avenues for exploring fundamental phenomena and novel optoelectronic applications using monolayer phosphorene.Jiong Yang Renjing Xu Jiajie Pei Ye Win Myint Fan Wang Zhu Wang Shuang Zhang Zongfu Yu Yuerui Lu 2015Light(Science & Applications)2015,4,1:8

6Genomic and genic sequence variation in synthetic hexaploid wheat (AABBDD) as compared to their parental species显示文摘In order to understand the genomic changes during the evolution of hexaploid wheat, two sets of synthetic hexaploid wheat from hybridization between maternal tetraploid wheat (AABB) and paternal diploid goat grass (DD) were used for DNA-AFLP and single strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) analysis to determine the genomic and genic variation in the synthetic hexaploid wheat. Results indicated that more DNA sequences from paternal diploid species were eliminated in the synthetic hexaploid wheat than from maternal tetraploid wheat, suggesting that genome from parental species of lower ploidity tends to be eliminated preferentially. However, sequence variation detected by SSCP procedure was much lower than those detected by DNA-AFLP, which indicated that much less variation in the genic regions occurred in the synthetic hexaploid wheat, and sequence variations detected by DNA-AFLP could be derived mostly from non-coding regions and repetitive sequences. Our results also indicated that sequence variation in 4 genes can be detected in hybrid F1, which suggested that this type of sequence variation could be resulted from distant hybridization. 7Compact CMOS spectral sensor for the visible spectrum显示文摘A compact single-shot complementary metal-oxide semiconductor(CMOS) spectral sensor for the visible range(wavelength 400–700 nm) is presented. The sensor consists of two-dimensional silicon nitride-based photonic crystal(PC) slabs atop CMOS photodetectors. The PC slabs are fabricated using one-step lithography and amenable to monolithic integration into CMOS image sensors. Featuring a small footprint of 300 μm× 350 μm,the sensor can successfully measure the spectra over the 400–700 wavelength range with a best resolution of1 nm. 8Heavy oil component characterization with multi-dimensional unilateral NMR显示文摘Heavy oil is a complicated mixture and a potential resource and has attracted much attention since the end of last century. It is important to characterize the composition of heavy oil to enhance its recovery efficiency. A designed unilateral Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) sensor with a Larmor frequency of 20 MHz and a well-defined constant gradient of 23.25 T/m was employed to acquire three-dimensional (3D) data for three heavy oil samples. The highly-constant gradient is advantageous for diffusion coefficient measurement of heavy oil. A fast data-implementation procedure including specially designed 3D pulse sequence and Inversion Laplace Transform (ILT) algorithm was adopted to process the data and extract 3D T1-D-T2 probability function. It indicates that NMR relaxometry and diffusometry are useful to characterize the components of heavy oil samples. 12Ectopic Overexpression of Wheat Adenosine Diphosphate-ribosylation Factor,TaARF,Increases Growth Rate in Arabidopsis显示文摘Differential gene expression between hybrids and their parents is considered to be associated with heterosis. However,the physiological functions and possible contribution to heterosis of these differentially expressed genes are unknown.We have isolated one hybrid upregulated gene encoding putative wheat ADP-ribosylation factor, designated TaARF. In thisstudy, real-time quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction analysis indicated that the TaARF transcriptwas preferentially expressed in root, node and crown, and the accumulation of TaARF mRNA in hybrid was more than1.5-fold higher than that in two parents. In order to understand possible roles of the putative wheat ARF gene, TaARFwas overexpressed in Arabidopsis, and the transgenic plants were characterized. We show that ectopic overexpression ofTaARF in Arabidopsis leads to increased leaf area, increased growth rate and earlier transition to flowering, suggestingthat TaARF plays significant roles in growth and development.
