2All-dielectric silicon metalens for two-dimensional particle manipulation in optical tweezers显示文摘Dynamic control of compact chip-scale contactless manipulation of particles for bioscience applications remains a challenging endeavor,which is restrained by the balance between trapping efficiency and scalable apparatus.Metasurfaces offer the implementation of feasible optical tweezers on a planar platform for shaping the exerted optical force by a microscale-integrated device.Here we design and experimentally demonstrate a highly efficient silicon-based metalens for two-dimensional optical trapping in the near-infrared.Our metalens concept is based on the Pancharatnam–Berry phase,which enables the device for polarization-sensitive particle manipulation.Our optical trapping setup is capable of adjusting the position of both the metasurface lens and the particle chamber freely in three directions,which offers great freedom for optical trap adjustment and alignment.Two-dimensional(2D)particle manipulation is done with a relatively low-numerical-aperture metalens(NA(ML)=0.6).We experimentally demonstrate both 2D polarization-sensitive drag and drop manipulation of polystyrene particles suspended in water and transfer of angular orbital momentum to these particles with a single tailored beam.Our work may open new possibilities for lab-on-a-chip optical trapping for bioscience applications and microscale to nanoscale optical tweezers.TEANCHAI CHANTAKIT CHRISTIAN SCHLICKRIEDE BASUDEB SAIN FABIAN MEYER THOMAS WEISS NATTAPORN CHATTHAM AND THOMAS ZENTGRAF 2020Photonics Research2020,8,9:6
3Inducible resistance to Fas-mediated apoptosis in B cells显示文摘Apoptosis produced in B cells through Fas (APO-1, CD95) triggering is regulated by signals derived from other surface receptors: CD40 engagement produces upregulation of Fas expres. sion and marked susceptibility to Fas-induced cell death, whereas antigen receptor engagement, or IL-4R engagement, inhibits Fas killing and in so doing induces a state of Fas-resistance, even in otherwise sensitive, CD40-stimulated targets. Surfaceim. munoglobulin and IL-4R utilize at least partially distinct pathways to produce Fas-resistance that differentially depend on PKC and STAT6, respectively. Further, surface immunoglob- 'lin signaling for inducible Fas-resistance bypasses Bib, requires NF-GB, and entails new macromolecular synthesis. Terminal effectors of B cell Fas-resistance include the known anti-apoptotic gene products, Bcl-xL and FLIP, and a novel anti-apoptotic gene that encodes FAIM (Fas Apoptosis Inhibitory Molecule). faim was identified by differential display and exists in two alternatively spliced forms; maim-S is broadly expressed, but faim-L expression is tissue-specific. The FAIM sequence is highly evolu tionarily conserved, suggesting an important role for this molecule throughout phylogeny. Inducible resistance to Fas killing is hypothesized to protect foreign antigen-specific B cells during potentially hazardous interactions with FasL-bearing T cells, whereas autoreactive B cells fail to become Fas-resistant and are deleted via Fas-dependent cytotoxicity. 5Split liver transplantation: a reliable approach to expand donor pool显示文摘Orthotopic liver transplantation as a successful treatment of end-stage liver disease is hampered by a persistent lack of cadaveric organs. Split liver transplantation, which was first successfully performed by Medical School of Hannover in 1988, has become a mature surgical technique to expand the donor pool. Between 1993 and 1999, split liver transplantation activities have increased in Europe from 1. 2% to 10. 4% in all performed liver transplantations. Current data have strongly supported that the survival rate of patients after split liver transplantation is not significantly different from that of patients after whole-size orthotopic liver transplantation. The most important step of donor graft selection is surgeon’ s observation judged by the experience of individual transplant center. The paper aims to provide the guideline of donor selection, hepatic graft splitting, and recipient management as well. DATA SOURCES: Medical School of Hannover has accumulated plentiful experience of split liver transplantation for more than 10 cases ever since 1998. Besides that, we also reviewed a variety of literatures from other famous European and American centers specialized in this field for many years. RESULTS:According to our experience combined with the view points of others, the donor should meet the following criteria as well: (1) age less than 50 years; (2) hemodynamics stable; (3) ICU less than 5 days; (4) Na less than 170 mmol/L or better if less than 150 mmol/L. In 1996 and 1997, the Hamburg group and the UCLA group separately introduced a breakthrough technique performing split liver transplantation in situ. Evidently, the in situ technique has been limited by prolonged time of donor organ procurement , coordination with other organ procurement teams, and even extra burden on donor hospital. Some groups, therefore, have restored the ex situ or bench splitting technique , and fortunately the transplant outcomes of the ex situ technique are equivalent to those of the in situ one. Recently some new techniques have been introduced to split the liver for two adult patients, including the split-cava technique. CONCLUSIONS:It is clear that the most important factor for determining the prognosis of the patient is the time of receiving liver transplantation, not the type of liver transplantation. The release of NO was measured directly from the endothelium using a NO-specific amperometric probe. 9Sharp tunable and additional noise-free optical filter based on Brillouin losses显示文摘In this paper, we propose an additional noise-free, independent center frequency and bandwidth tunable optical filter based on stimulated Brillouin scattering(SBS) losses. By suppressing the out-of-band signal with two broadened symmetric SBS losses, tunable pass bandwidths from 500 MHz to 9.5 GHz and the independent center frequency tunability are demonstrated. Considering the limited SBS interaction in the center frequency range,a flat-top response with minimum 0.3 dB ripple is achieved. Assisted by the extra suppression from polarization pulling, a maximum selectivity of 20 dB and an ultrahigh 250 dB∕GHz roll-off are reached. A gain-based SBS filter adds noise to the filtered signal. However, for our proposed filter setup, no additional noise is detected due to the transparency in the passband. Considering the wide independent bandwidth and center frequency tunability, flat-top response, and low-noise characteristic, our proposed filter can be perfectly used as a supplement of most commercialized conventional tunable optical single bandpass filters, whose minimum bandwidth is limited by 10 GHz.CHENG FENG STEFAN PREUSSLER AND THOMAS SCHNEIDER 2018Photonics Research2018,6,2:2
