A review of selective laser melting of aluminum alloys: Processing, microstructure, property and developing trends显示文摘Selective laser melting(SLM) is an attractive rapid prototyping technology for the fabrication of metallic components with complex structure and high performance. Aluminum alloy, one of the most pervasive structural materials, is well known for high specific strength and good corrosion resistance. But the poor laser formability of aluminum alloy restricts its application. There are problems such as limited processable materials, immature process conditions and metallurgical defects on SLM processing aluminum alloys. Some efforts have been made to solve the above problems. This paper discusses the current research status both related to the scientific understanding and technology applications. The paper begins with a brief introduction of basic concepts of aluminum alloys and technology characterization of laser selective melting. In addition, solidification theory of SLM process and formation mechanism of metallurgical defects are discussed. Then, the current research status of microstructure, properties and heat treatment of SLM processing aluminum alloys is systematically reviewed respectively. Lastly, a future outlook is given at the end of this review paper. | Jinliang Zhang Bo Song Qingsong Wei Dave Bourell Yusheng Shi | 2019 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2019,35,2: | 77
Effect of Graphene Nanoplatelets addition on mechanical properties of pure aluminum using a semi-powder method显示文摘In recent years, graphene has attracted considerable research interest in all fields of science due to its unique properties. Its excellent mechanical properties lead it to be used in nano-composites for strength enhancement. This paper reports an Aluminum–Graphene Nanoplatelets(Al/GNPs)composite using a semi-powder method followed by hot extrusion. The effect of GNP nano-particle integration on tensile, compressive and hardness response of Al is investigated in this paper. It is demonstrated that 0.3 wt% Graphene Nanoplatelets distributed homogeneously in the matrix aluminum act as an effective reinforcing filler to prevent deformation. Compared to monolithic aluminum(in tension), Al–0.3 wt% GNPs composite exhibited higher 0.2% yield strength(+14.7%), ultimate tensile strength(+11.1%) and lower failure strain( -40.6%). Surprisingly, compared to monolithic Al(in compression), Al–0.3 wt% GNPs composite exhibited same 0.2% compressive yield strength and lower ultimate compression strength(- 7.8%),and lower failure strain(- 20.2%). The Al–0.3 wt% GNPs composite exhibited higher Vickers hardness compared to monolithic aluminum(+11.8%).Scanning electron microscopy(SEM), Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy(EDS) and X-ray diffraction(XRD) were used to investigate the surface morphology, elemental percentage composition, and phase analysis, respectively. | Muhammad Rashad Fusheng Pan Aitao Tang Muhammad Asif | 2014 | Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2014,24,2: | 52

Forming limits under multi-index constraints in NC bending of aluminum alloy thin-walled tubes with large diameters显示文摘With increasing diameters of aluminum alloy thin-walled tubes (AATTs), the tube forming limits, i.e. the minimum bending factors, and their predictions under multi-index constraints including wrinkling, thinning and flattening have been being a key problem to be urgently solved for improving tube forming potential in numerical control (NC) bending processes of AATTs with large diameters. Thus in this paper, a search algorithm of the forming limits is put forward based on a 3D elastic-plastic finite element (FE) model and a wrinkling energy prediction model for the bending processes under axial compression loading (ACL) or not. This algorithm enables to be considered the effects of process parameter combinations including die, friction parameters on the multi-indices. Based on this algorithm, the forming limits of the different size tubes are obtained, and the roles of the process parameter combinations in enabling the limit bending processes are also revealed. The followings are found: the first, within the appropriate ranges of friction and clearances between the different dies and the tubes enabling the bending processes with smaller bending factors, the ACL enables the tube limit bending processes after a decrease of the mandrel ball thickness and diameters; then, without considering the effects of the tube geometry sizes on the tube constitutive equations, the forming limits will be decided by the limit thinning values for the tubes with diameters smaller than 80 mm, while the wrinkling for the tubes with diameters no less than 80 mm. The forming limits obtained from this algorithm are smaller than the analytical results, and reduced by 57.39%; the last, the roles of the process parameter combinations in enabling the limit bending processes are verified by experimental results. | YAN Jing, YANG He, ZHAN Mei & LI Heng College of Materials Science and Engineering, State Key Laboratory of Solidification Processing, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi’an 710072, China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,2: | 21

Enhanced Mechanical Properties of Friction Stir Welded 5083Al-H19 Joints with Additional Water Cooling显示文摘3-mm-thick 5083Al-H19 rolled plates were friction stir welded(FSW) at tool rotation rates of 800 and200 rpm with and without additional water cooling. With decreasing the rotation rate and applying water cooling, softening in the FSW joint was significantly reduced. At a low rotation rate of 200 rpm with additional water cooling, almost no obvious softening was observed in the FSW joint, and therefore a FSW5083Al-H19 joint with nearly equal strength to the base material(BM) was obtained. Furthermore, the grains in the nugget zone were considerably refined with reducing the heat input and ultrafine equiaxed grains of about 800 nm were obtained in the lowest heat input condition. This work provides an effective method to achieve high property FSW joints of precipitate-hardened and work-hardened Al alloys. | B.B.Wang F.F.Chen F.Liu W.G.Wang P.Xue Z.Y.Ma | 2017 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2017,33,9: | 16
Effect of Cerium on Mechanical Performance and Electrical Conductivity of Aluminum Rod for Electrical Purpose显示文摘The effect of rare earth element Ce on mechanical performance and electrical conductivity of aluminum rod for electrical purpose were studied under industrial production condition. Using optical microscope, SEM, TEM, EDS and X-ray diffractometer, the microstructure and phase composition of aluminum rod were measured and analyzed. The results indicate that the content of rare earth element Ce is between 0.05%~0.16% in the aluminum rod for electrical purpose. Its tensile strength is enhanced to some extent. The research also discovers that the tensile strength is enhanced remarkably with impurity element Si content increases. Because influence of Si is big to the conductivity, the Si content should be controlled continuously strictly in the aluminum for electrical purpose. Adding rare earth element Ce reduces the solid solubility of Si in the aluminum matrix, and the negative effect of Si on the aluminum conductor reduces effectively. So the limit of in Si content in aluminum rod for electrical purpose can be relaxed moderately. | 李鹏飞 邬志刚 王云利 高喜柱 王再运 李志强 | 2006 | Journal of Rare Earths2006,24,z2: | 14

Understanding the biochar’s role in ameliorating soil acidity显示文摘Extensive acidic soils, which suffer from accelerated soil acidification, are found in southern China.Soil acidity, aluminum toxicity, and nutrient deficiencies severely limited crop productivity in acidic soils. It has been widely reported that crop residue biochars can ameliorate acidic soils and increase crop productivity. Here,we summarized the positive effects and mechanisms involved in the correction of soil acidity, the alleviation of aluminum toxicity and the increase of soil pH buffering capacity by crop residue biochars. The carbonate,oxygen-containing functional groups and silicates in biochars are the major components responsible for their efficacy in amending acidic soils and resisting soil re-acidification.We conclude that application of crop residue biochars may be a better option than traditional liming to ameliorate acidic soils.Nonetheless, further researches into soil acidification are still required to address some issues that are controversial and poorly understood. | SHI Ren-yong LI Jiu-yu NI Ni XU Ren-kou | 2019 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2019,18,7: | 14

Effect of temperature on corrosion behavior of 3003 aluminum alloy in ethylene glycol–water solution显示文摘The effect of temperature on the corrosion behavior of 3003 aluminum alloy in ethylene glycol–water solution was investigated by potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) techniques. The surface characterization was observed and determined by scanning electron microscopy(SEM), atomic force microscopy(AFM) and energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS). The results demonstrate that the anodic aluminum dissolution and the cathodic oxygen reduction were accelerated by the increased temperature. However, as temperature was over60 °C, the solubility and concentration of oxygen decreased, resulting in the inhibition of cathodic reaction. The cathodic reaction rate of 3003 aluminum alloy rose to the maximum at 60 °C. The Warburg impedance in Nyquist diagram diminished and then was replaced by a negative capacitance caused by the absorption of intermediate corrosion product on electrode. On the other hand, after potentiodynamic measurements, 3003 aluminum alloy suffered pitting corrosion. The dissolution of aluminum alloy around secondary phase particles expanded both horizontally and vertically. | Chen Xin Tian Wenming Li Songmei Yu Mei Liu Jianhua | 2016 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2016,29,4: | 14
Laser-pulsed MIG hybrid welding technology of A6N01S aluminum alloy显示文摘Welding research of A6N01S-T5 aluminum alloy profile for high-speed train was done by using laser-MIG hybrid welding and MIG welding individually. And the weld appearance, welding distortion, mechanical properties of the joints and microstructures were analyzed. The test results demonstrated that high-efficient welding for the profile can be achieved by using laser-MIG hybrid welding, the speed of which can be over 3. 0 m/min. The processing had a good gap bridging ability, even if the gap of the butt joint was up to 2. 0 mm,a good weld appearance can also be got. While the hybrid welding speed was greater than 2. 5 m/min,the welding distortion of the laser-tandem MIG hybrid joints was just about 33% of that of the MIG joints, but the welding efficiency was over 3 times of MIG welding. And tensile strength of the hybrid joints was 85% of that of A6N01S-T5 base metal,9% higher than that of the MIG joints. Fatigue properties was tested individually with pulsed tensile fatigue method in the condition of 1 × 10~7 lifetime. The test results demonstrated that the fatigue strength of the joints was a little lower than that of base material, which could be up to 115 MPa. But the fatigue strength of hybrid welding joints was 107. 5 MPa,which was 23% higher than 87 MPa of MIG welding joints. | 雷振 李小宇 徐富家 汪认 常云峰 | 2017 | China Welding2017,26,4: | 13
Characteristics of TIG arc-assisted laser welding–brazing joint of aluminum to galvanized steel with preset filler powder显示文摘Tungsten inert gas(TIG) arc-assisted laser welding–brazing was used for the butt joining of 5A06 aluminum alloy to the galvanized steel by preset filler powder without groove. The spreading behavior of liquid metal on the back of the galvanized steel at different assisted welding currents was also investigated. The results show that the assisted TIG arc optimizes the interface reaction temperature, enhances the wettability of liquid metal on the steel side, and forms a sound butt joint at an appropriate welding current. A non-uniform intermetallic compound is formed at the interfacial layer, which is composed of Fe2Al5 close to the steel substrate and Fe4Al13 close to the solidified aluminum. The superior tensile strength of joint is indicated when the welding current ranges from 13 to 16 A. The average tensile strength can reach 151 MPa at the welding current of 16 A, and the corresponding fracture belongs to the ductile and brittle hybrid mode. | Chun-Ling Li Ding Fan Bin Wang | 2015 | Rare Metals2015,34,9: | 12
Corrosion behavior of rare earth cerium based conversion coating on aluminum alloy显示文摘The present paper focused on the use of the salt of rare earth cerium as corrosion inhibitor of aluminum by using cathodic electrolytic passivation method. The corrosion resistance and the microphology of the cerium passivation film were studied by the methods of electrochemical method, scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and energy dispersive spectroscopic analysis. From the results,it was shown that good corrosion resistance of cerium-based passive coating was obtained when the compositions were as follows:CeCl3·7H2O,0.05 mol/L;H2O2,30 ml/L;current density,1.1 mA/cm2;temperature,40 oC;time,9 min.SEM and EDS revealed that the cerium conversion coatings formed on the surface of aluminum alloy were related to cerium hydroxide/hydrated oxide depositions. | 赵丹 孙杰 张丽丽 谭勇 李季 | 2010 | Journal of Rare Earths2010,28,S1: | 12
Large pore volume mesoporous aluminum oxide synthesized via nano-assembly显示文摘A new nano-assembly approach has been proposed for the preparation of macropore volume mesoporous aluminum oxide supports. Secondary nano-assembly and a frame structure mechanism for large pore volume mesoporous supports have been proposed. In a primary nano-assembly supersoluble micelle, aluminum hydroxide nanoparticles were precipitated in situ in surfactants with a volume balance (VB) less than 1,followed by secondary nano-assembly in linear and cylindrical shapes. The secondary nano-assembly of cylindrical aluminum hydroxides was calcined to form nano cylindrical aluminum oxides. For the formation of macropore volume mesoporous supports,we utilized a frame structure mechanism of mesoporous support,in which the exterior surface of the carrier may not be continuous. This macropore volume support has been used for the hydrotreatment of a residual oil catalyst, which possesses the following physical characteristics:pore volume 1.8―2.7 mL·g-1,specific surface area 180―429 m2·g-1,average pore diameter 17―57 nm,average pore diameter more than 10 nm (81%―94%),porosity 87%―93%,and crush strength 7.7―25 N·mm-1. | WANG DingCong Fushun Research Institute of Petroleum and Petrochemicals,China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (SINOPEC),Fushun 113001,China | 2009 | Science China Chemistry2009,52,12: | 11
Aluminum potassium sulfate and tannic acid sclerotherapy for Goligher Grades Ⅱ and Ⅲ hemorrhoids: Results from a multicenter study显示文摘AIM: To show that aluminum potassium sulfate and tannic acid(ALTA) sclerotherapy has a high success rate for Grade Ⅱ and Ⅲ hemorrhoids.METHODS: This study was based on the clinical data of 604 patients with hemorrhoids who underwent ALTA sclerotherapy between January 2009 and February 2015. The objective of this study was to assess the efficacy of this treatment for Grades Ⅱ and Ⅲ hemorrhoids. Preoperative and postoperative symptoms, complications and success rate were all assessed retrospectively. Follow-up consisted of a simple questionnaire, physical examination and an anoscopy. Patients were followed-up at one day, one week, two weeks, one month, one year, two years, three years, four years and five years after the ALTA sclerotherapy.RESULTS: One hundred and sixty-nine patients were diagnosed with Grade Ⅱ hemorrhoids and 435 patients were diagnosed with Grade Ⅲ hemorrhoids. The one year, three year and five year cumulative success rates of ALTA sclerotherapy for Grades Ⅱ and Ⅲ hemo-rrhoids were 95.9% and 93.1%; 89.3% and 83.7%; and 89.3% and 78.2%, respectively. No significant differences were observed in the cumulative success rates after ALTA sclerotherapy between Grades Ⅱ and Ⅲ hemorrhoids(P = 0.09). There were forty-seven post-operative complications(low grade fever; anal pain; urinary retention; rectal ulcer; and others). No serious or life-threatening complications occurred and all cases improved through conservative treatment. At univariate analysis there were no predictive factors of failure.CONCLUSION: ALTA sclerotherapy has had a high success rate for Grade Ⅱ and Ⅲ hemorrhoids during five years of post-operative treatment. | 17 | Structural evolution of non dendritic AlSi7Mg alloy during reheating显示文摘The structural evolution of non dendritic AlSi7Mg alloy during reheating in resistance furnace was studied. The alloy ingots were produced by electromagnetic stirring during solidification. It was found that, the Si phase in eutectic dissolves in a way of diffusion toward α phase, its appearance changes from flake to dot like, and tends to be fine and spheroidal with increasing reheating temperature. The thinner the flake, the lower the temperature for the occurrence of this process, and the higher the transforming speed. The eutectic melts partially when Si phase dissolves to some extent, and the morphology and size of primary α phase begin to change. The dendrite and rosette α phases tends to sphericize. The size of the former becomes larger, while the size of the latter reduces to be 1/2~1/4 of the original size. The spheroidal primary α phase has a tendency of grain growth. | Zhang Kui(张奎) Zhang Yongzhong(张永忠) Liu Guojun(刘国均) Xu Jun(徐骏) Zhang Jingxin(张景新) Fan Jianzhong(樊建中) Shi Likai(石力开) | 1999 | 中国有色金属学会会刊:英文版1999,9,3: | 10
Microstructure and properties of mullite-based porous ceramics produced from coal fly ash with added Al_2O_3显示文摘Using coal fly ash slurry samples supplemented with different amounts of Al_2O_3,we fabricated mullite-based porous ceramics via a dipping-polymer-replica approach, which is a popular method suitable for industrial application. The microstructure, phase composition, and compressive strength of the sintered samples were investigated.Mullite was identified in all of the prepared materials by X-ray diffraction analysis. The microstructure and compressive strength were strongly influenced by the content of Al_2O_3.As the Al/Si mole ratio in the starting materials was increased from 0.84 to 2.40,the amount of amorphous phases in the sintered microstructure decreased and the compressive strength of the sintered samples increased.A further increase in the Al_2O_3 content resulted in a decrease in the compressive strength of the sintered samples. The mullite-based porous ceramic with an Al/Si molar ratio of 2.40 exhibited the highest compressive strength and the greatest shrinkage among the investigated samples prepared using coal fly ash as the main starting material. | Jian-bin Zhu Hong Yan | 2017 | International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2017,24,3: | 10
Evolution of residual stress field in 6N01 aluminum alloy friction stir welding joint显示文摘Based on the characteristics of friction stir welding( FSW) and Coulomb friction work theory, the residual stresses field of FSW joints of 6 N01 aluminum alloy( T5),which was used in high speed train, were calculated by using the ANSYS finite element software. During the FEM calculation, the dual heat source models namely the body heat source and surface heat source were used to explore the evolution law of the welding process to the residual stress field. The method of ultrasonic residual stress detecting was used to investigate the residual stresses field of the 6 N01 aluminum alloy FSW joints. The results show that the steady-state temperature of 6 N01 aluminum alloy during FSW is about 550 ℃,and the temperature mutates at the beginning and at end of welding. The longitudinal residual stress σ_x is the main stress, which fluctuates in the range of-25 to 242 MPa. Moreover, the stress in the range of shaft shoulder is tensile stress that the maximum tensile stress is 242 MPa,and the stress in the outside of shaft shoulder is compressive stress that the maximum compressive stress is 25 MPa. The distribution of the tensile stress in the welding nugget zone( WNZ) is obviously bimodal, and the residual stress on the advancing side is higher than that on the retreating side. With the increasing of the welding speed, the maximum temperature decreased and the maximum residual stress decreased when the pin-wheel speed kept constant. With the increasing of the pin-wheel speed, the maximum temperature of the joint increased and the maximum residual stress increased when the welding speed was constant. The experimental results were in good agreement with the finite element results. | 刘家伦 朱浩 姜月 齐芳娟 王军 | 2018 | China Welding2018,27,4: | 10
Effect of Sc and Zr additions on microstructures and corrosion behavior of Al-Cu-Mg-Sc-Zr alloys显示文摘The effects of adding the alloy element Sc to Al alloys on strengthening, recrystallization and modification of the grain microstructure have been investigated. The combination of Sc and Zr alloying not only produces a remarkable synergistic effect of inhibition of recrystallization and refinement of grain size but also substantially reduce the amount of high-cost additional Sc. In this work, the microstructures and corrosion behavior of a new type of Al-Cu-Mg-Sc-Zr alloy with Sc/Zr ratio of 1/2 were investigated. The experimental results showed that the Sc and Zr additions to Al-Cu-Mg alloy could strongly inhibit recrystallization, refine grain size, impede the segregation of Cu element along the grain boundary and increase the spacing of grain boundary precipitates. In addition, adding Sc and Zr to Al-Cu-Mg alloy effectively restricts the corrosion mechanism conversion associated with Al2 Cu Mg particles, which resulted in the change of the cross-section morphology of inter-granular corrosion from an undercutting to an elliptical shape. The susceptibility to inter-granular corrosion was significantly decreased with increasing Sc and Zr additions to the Al-Cu-Mg alloy. The relationships between microstructures evolution and inter-granular corrosion mechanism of Al-Cu-Mg-Sc-Zr alloys were also discussed. | Fangfang Sun Guiru Liu Nash Qunying Li Enzuo Liu Chunnain He Chunsheng Shi Naiqin Zhao | 2017 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2017,33,9: | 10
