| 3 | Integrated approach for optimal island partition and power dispatch显示文摘Operating in island mode when failure occurs in sure to maintain an uninterrupted power supply to significant loads. A two-stage approach that integrates optimal island partition and power dispatch is proposed in this paper, considering photovoltaics(PVs), batteries(BEs) and electric vehicles(EVs) as the power sources. In the first stage, energy indices are defined to describe the energy demand and the maximum energy that these distributed energy resources(DERs) can provide, and islands are partitioned based on an energy constraint. Considering the variability the loads and PVs, the energy constraint is a necessary but not sufficient condition for island operation,so in the second stage, a power dispatch model is proposed the active distribution network(ADN) is an effective mea-as a test for the island partition result. Sequential power flow is also simulated to guarantee a feasible and optimized island status. The situations when the tests are not passed are analyzed and classified, and corresponding modifications for the first stage model are provided. Multiple levels of constraints based on the energy index are established for the island partition model. | 4 | Solving Multi-Area Environmental/Economic Dispatch by Pareto-Based Chemical-Reaction Optimization Algorithm显示文摘In this study, we present a Pareto-based chemicalreaction optimization(PCRO) algorithm for solving the multiarea environmental/economic dispatch optimization problems.Two objectives are minimized simultaneously, i.e., total fuel cost and emission. In the proposed algorithm, each solution is represented by a chemical molecule. A novel encoding mechanism for solving the multi-area environmental/economic dispatch optimization problems is designed to dynamically enhance the performance of the proposed algorithm. Then, an ensemble of effective neighborhood approaches is developed, and a selfadaptive neighborhood structure selection mechanism is also embedded in PCRO to increase the search ability while maintaining population diversity. In addition, a grid-based crowding distance strategy is introduced, which can obviously enable the algorithm to easily converge near the Pareto front. Furthermore,a kinetic-energy-based search procedure is developed to enhance the global search ability. Finally, the proposed algorithm is tested on sets of the instances that are generated based on realistic production. Since in many situations, only partial information of the probabilistic variables can be obtained, the maximum entropy principle is introduced to find the most likely realized probability distributions of the power flow, thus providing an accurate probabilistic circumstance to solve the generation dispatch model. | 6 | Integrated generation–consumption dispatch based on compensation mechanism considering demand response behavior显示文摘Demand response(DR) is important to account for behaviors of the demand side to yield an optimal dispatch result. However, it is difficult for energy suppliers to collect customers' private information unless there is an incentive mechanism for customers to do so. Therefore,this paper proposes a new integrated generation–consumption dispatch based on compensation mechanism considering DR behavior. Firstly, in light of the dayahead load forecast data, we deduce the utility function model of different customers. By subtracting generating units' operation cost from consumers' total utility, the dispatch model has a decentralized demand participant structure based on this utility function. The utility function is used to describe consumers' preferences and energy consumption behaviors. Secondly, an effective compensation mechanism is designed to ensure customers to select the level of compensation appropriate to their willingness to curtail load. Finally, a new dispatch model is proposed that incorporates the DR compensation mechanism into the generation–consumption dispatch model. The new model can improve the interaction of generation and consumption,and benefit both the energy supplier and its customers. The proposed model is piecewise linearized and solved by a mixed-integer linear programming method. It is tested on a six-bus system and the IEEE 118-bus system. | 7 | ADMM-based Distributed Algorithm for Economic Dispatch in Power Systems With Both Packet Drops and Communication Delays显示文摘By virtue of alternating direction method of multipliers(ADMM), Newton-Raphson method, ratio consensus approach and running sum method, two distributed iterative strategies are presented in this paper to address the economic dispatch problem(EDP) in power systems. Different from most of the existing distributed ED approaches which neglect the effects of packet drops or/and time delays, this paper takes into account both packet drops and time delays which frequently occur in communication networks. Moreover, directed and possibly unbalanced graphs are considered in our algorithms, over which many distributed approaches fail to converge. Furthermore, the proposed schemes can address the EDP with local constraints of generators and nonquadratic convex cost functions, not just quadratic ones required in some existing ED approaches. | 9 | Risk-based method to secure power systems against cyberphysical faults with cascading impacts: a system protection scheme application显示文摘The utilization levels of the transmission network can be enhanced by the use of automated protection schemes that rapidly respond to disturbances. However,such corrective systems may suffer from malfunctions that have the potential to exacerbate the impact of the disturbance. This paper addresses the challenge of jointly optimizing the dispatch of generators and protection settings in this context. This requires a holistic assessment of the cyber(protection logic) and physical(network) systems,considering the failures in each part and their interplay.Special protection schemes are used as a prototypical example of such a system. An iterative optimization method is proposed that relies on power system response simulations in order to perform detailed impact assessments and compare candidate solutions. The candidate solutions are generated on the basis of a security-constrained dispatch that also secures the system against a set of cyber failure modes. A case study is developed for a generation rejection scheme on the IEEE reliability testsystem(RTS): candidate solutions are produced based on a mixed integer linear programming optimisation model, and loss-of-load costs are computed using a basic cascading outage algorithm. | 11 | Demand dispatch in cyber-physical load aggregation system with multilevel incentives显示文摘This paper presents a demand dispatch strategy of aggregated electric water heaters(EWHs) for a load aggregation system at demand side, based on the theory of cyber-physical system. The objective is to solve the problem of water heater load control when the cyber-physical load aggregation system participates in demand dispatch of the power grid. First, an implementation framework of the demand dispatch strategy is designed between the cyber space and the physical space, including state awareness,real-time analysis, scientific decision-making and precise execution. Second, a multilevel incentive model, an EWH appliance model and a thermostat setpoint control rule are introduced. The proposed ADRCC-OPF model is distributionally robust because the uncertainties of the wind power forecasting are represented only by their first-and second-order moments instead of a specific distribution assumption. The proposed model is adjustable because it is formulated as a second-order cone programming(SOCP) model with an adjustable coefficient.This coefficient can control the robustness of the chance constraints, which may be set up for the Gaussian distribution, symmetrically distributional robustness, or distributionally robust cases considering wind forecasting uncertainty. The conservativeness of the ADRCC-OPF model is analyzed and compared with the actual distribution data of wind forecasting error.
