| 2 | Energy-Efficient Computation Offloading and Resource Allocation in Fog Computing for Internet of Everything显示文摘With the dawning of the Internet of Everything(IoE) era, more and more novel applications are being deployed. However, resource constrained devices cannot fulfill the resource-requirements of these applications. This paper investigates the computation offloading problem of the coexistence and synergy between fog computing and cloud computing in IoE by jointly optimizing the offloading decisions, the allocation of computation resource and transmit power. Specifically, we propose an energy-efficient computation offloading and resource allocation(ECORA) scheme to minimize the system cost. | 3 | A Deep Learning Based Energy-Efficient Computational Offloading Method in Internet of Vehicles显示文摘With the emergence of advanced vehicular applications, the challenge of satisfying computational and communication demands of vehicles has become increasingly prominent. Fog computing is a potential solution to improve advanced vehicular services by enabling computational offloading at the edge of network. In this paper, we propose a fog-cloud computational offloading algorithm in Internet of Vehicles(IoV) to both minimize the power consumption of vehicles and that of the computational facilities. First, we establish the system model, and then formulate the offloading problem as an optimization problem, which is NP-hard. After that, we propose a heuristic algorithm to solve the offloading problem gradually. Specifically, we design a predictive combination transmission mode for vehicles, and establish a deep learning model for computational facilities to obtain the optimal workload allocation. | 5 | The boundary layer characteristics in the heavy fog formation process over Beijing and its adjacent areas显示文摘By utilizing the Atmospheric Boundary Layer (ABL) observational data made available from the project '973' under the auspices of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China - entitled the Beijing City Air Pollution Observation Field Experiment (BECAPEX), including the measurements by a wind profiler, captive airships, tower-based boundary layer wind and temperature gradient observational instruments (ultrasonic anemometers and electronic thermometers), air composition samplers, conventional upper-air, surface and Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) observations, this paper herewith analyzes, in a comprehensive manner, the occurrence of a heavy fog event over Beijing in February 2001, including its formation, development, persistence, dynamic and thermodynamic features as well as evolving stratification structures within the boundary layer at different stages. The results suggested: (i) as a typical case of urban heavy fog, before the fog onset over Beijing, a temperature inversion existed in the lower atmosphere, the smokes and the pollutants like SO2 and NO2 had been accumulated at a lower level. Proceeding the fog event, with the increase of SO2 and NO2 concentrations, condensability increased sharply. On the contrary, during the fog process, with increasing condensability, SO2 and NO2 concentrations decreased. This indicated that, acting as condensation nucleus, these accumulated pollutants were playing a key role in catalyzing the fog condensation. (ii) By analyzing mean gradient-, pulsation- and turbulence-distribution patterns derived from the wind measurements taken by the aforementioned tower-based instruments, they all indicated that about 10 hours before the fog onset, a signal foretelling potential strong disturbances in the lower boundary layer was detected, and a significant rise of both mean and disturbance kinetic energies was observed, revealing that the low-level wind shear was strengthened before the fog onset, consequently creating a favorable condition for the outbreak of turbulences. This strong signal seemed to be very meaningful in monitoring and predicting fog occurrence and its development. | 11 | Evaluation of the Global and Regional Assimilation and Prediction System for Predicting Sea Fog over the South China Sea显示文摘In the South China Sea, sea fog brings severe disasters every year, but forecasters have yet to implement an effective seafog forecast. To address this issue, we test a liquid-water-content-only(LWC-only) operational sea-fog prediction method based on a regional mesoscale numerical model with a horizontal resolution of about 3 km, the Global and Regional Assimilation and Prediction System(GRAPES), hereafter GRAPES-3 km. GRAPES-3 km models the LWC over the sea, from which we infer the visibility that is then used to identify fog. We test the GRAPES-3 km here against measurements in 2016 and 2017 from coastal-station observations, as well as from buoy data, data from the Integrated Observation Platform for Marine Meteorology, and retrieved fog and cloud patterns from Himawari-8 satellite data. For two cases that we examine in detail, the forecast region of sea fog overlaps well with the multi-observational data within 72 h. Considering forecasting for0–24 h, GRAPES-3 km has a 2-year-average equitable threat score(ETS) of 0.20 and a Heidke skill score(HSS) of 0.335,which is about 5.6%(ETS) and 6.4%(HSS) better than our previous method(GRAPES-MOS).
