| 3 | A Post-domestication Mutation, Dt2, Triggers Systemic Modification of Divergent and Convergent Pathways Modulating Multiple Agronomic Traits in Soybean显示文摘The semi-determinate stem growth habit in leguminous crops,similar to the“green revolution”semi-dwarf trait in cereals,is a key plant architecture trait that affects several other traits determining grain yield.In soybean semi-determinacy is modulated by a post-domestication gain-of-function mutation in the gene,Dt2,which encodes an MADS-box transcription factor.However,its role in systemic modification of stem growth and other traits is unknown.In this study,we show that Dt2 functions not only as a direct repressor of Dt1,which prevents terminal flowering,but also as a direct activator of putative floral integrator/identity genes including GmSOC1,GmAP1,and GmFUL,which likely promote flowering.We also demonstrate that Dt2 functions as a direct repressor of the putative drought-responsive transcription factor gene GmDREB1D,and as a direct activator of GmSPCH and GmGRP7,which are potentially associated with asymmetric division of young epidermal cells and stomatal opening,respectively,and may affect the plant's water-use efficiency(WUE).Intriguingly,Dt2 was found to be a direct activator or repressor of the precursors of eight microRNAs targeting genes potentially associated with meristem maintenance,flowering time,stomatal density,WUE,and/or stress responses.This study thus reveals the molecular basis of pleiotropy associated with plant productivity,adaptability,and environmental resilience. | Dajian Zhang Xutong Wang Shuo Li Chaofan Wang Michael JGosney Michael VMickelbart Jianxin Ma | 2019 | Molecular Plant2019，12，10： | 4 |

| 7 | Optimizing the Aspect Ratio of Cephalexin in Reactive Crystallization by Controlling Supersaturation and Seeding Policy显示文摘Batch crystallization in acidic aqueous solution of cephalexin was conducted by reactive crystallization with or without seeding. Supersaturation was generated by mixing ammonia and acidic aqueous solution of cephalexin and controlled by solution feeding rate and seeding conditions. UV and Morphologi G3 were used to measure supersaturation and aspect ratio. Experimental results demonstrated that burst nucleation occurred and the products were needle-like at high supersaturation;meanwhile, the products were plate-like and had high aspect ratio at low supersaturation. Analysis of the measured supersaturation profi les and corresponding aspect ratio explained the mechanisms governing the aspect ratio. | 8 | Long-term submergence of non-methanogenic oxic upland field soils helps to develop the methanogenic archaeal community as revealed by pot and field experiments显示文摘The community structure of methanogenic archaea is relatively stable,i.e.,it is sustained at a high abundance with minimal changes in composition,in paddy field soils irrespective of submergence and drainage.In contrast,the abundance in non-methanogenic oxic soils is much lower than that in paddy field soils.This study aimed to describe methanogenic archaeal community development following the long-term submergence of non-methanogenic oxic upland field soils in pot and field experiments.In the pot experiment,a soil sample obtained from an upland field was incubated under submerged conditions for 275 d.Soil samples periodically collected were subjected to culture-dependent most probable number(MPN)enumeration,polymerase chain reaction-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis(PCR-DGGE)analysis of archaeal 16 S r RNA gene,and quantitative PCR analysis of the methyl-coenzyme M reductase alpha subunit gene(mcr A)of methanogenic archaea.The abundance of methanogenic archaea increased from 102 to 103 cells g-1 dry soil and 104 to 107 copies of mcr A gene g-1 dry soil after submergence.Although no methanogenic archaeon was detected prior to incubation by the DGGE analysis,members from Methanocellales,Methanosarcinaceae,and Methanosaetaceae proliferated in the soils,and the community structure was relatively stable once established.In the field experiment,the number of viable methanogenic archaea in a rice paddy field converted from meadow(reclaimed paddy field)was monitored by MPN enumeration over five annual cycles of field operations.Viability was also determined simultaneously in a paddy field where the plow layer soil from a farmer’s paddy field was dressed onto the meadow(dressed paddy field)and an upland crop field converted from the meadow(reclaimed upland field).The number of viable methanogenic archaea in the reclaimed paddy field was below the detection limit before the first cultivation of rice and in the reclaimed upland field.Then,the number gradually increased over five years and finally reached 103–104 cells g-1 dry soil,which was comparable to that in the dressed paddy field.These findings showed that the low abundance of autochthonous methanogenic archaea in the non-methanogenic oxic upland field soils steadily proliferated,and the community structure was developed following repeated and long-term submergence.These results suggest that habitats suitable for methanogenic archaea were established in soil following repeated and long-term submergence. | Takeshi WATANABE Susumu ASAKAWA Koichi HAYANO | 2020 | Pedosphere2020，30，1： | 2 |
| 9 | Intensive outpatient comprehensive behavioral intervention for tics: A case series显示文摘Recent randomized clinical trials have established the efficacy of Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics(CBIT) in treating children and adults with Tourette syndrome and persistent tic disorders. However, the standard CBIT protocol uses a weekly outpatient treatment format(i.e., 8 sessions over 10 wk), which may be inconvenient or impractical for some patients, particularly patients, who are required to travel long distances in order to receive care. In contrast, an intensive outpatient program may increase accessibility to evidence-based behavioral treatments for Tourette syndrome and other persistent tic disorders by eliminating the necessity of repeated travel. This case series evaluated the use of an intensive outpatient program CBIT(IOP CBIT) for the treatment of 2 preadolescent males(ages 10 and 14 years) with Tourette syndrome. The IOP CBIT treatment protocol included several hours of daily treatment over a 4-d period. Both children evi-denced notable reductions in their tics and maintained treatment gains at follow-up. Moreover, both patients and their parents expressed treatment satisfaction with the IOP CBIT format. This case series addresses an important research gap in the behavioral treatment of tic disorders literature.
