1Practical implementation of Hilbert-Huang Transform algorithm显示文摘Hilbert-Huang Transform (HHT) is a newly developed powerful method for nonlinearand non-stationary time series analysis. The empirical mode decomposition is the key part of HHT,while its algorithm was protected by NASA as a US patent, which limits the wide application among thescientific community. Two approaches, mirror periodic and extrema extending methods, have been de-veloped for handling the end effects of empirical mode decomposition. The implementation of the HHT isrealized in detail to widen the application. The detailed comparison of the results from two methods withthat from Huang et al. (1998, 1999), and the comparison between two methods are presented. Gener-ally, both methods reproduce faithful results as those of Huang et al. For mirror periodic method(MPM), the data are extended once forever. Ideally, it is a way for handling the end effects of theHHT, especially for the signal that has symmetric waveform. The extrema extending method (EEM)behaves as good as MPM, and it is better than MPM for the signal that has strong asymmetric wave-form. 14Post-failure behavior of tunnel heading collapse by MPM simulation显示文摘Tunnel collapse presents a serious threat to the safety of urban construction. The traditional approach adopted to assess this risk is to evaluate the factor of safety against failure. However, this analysis only determines on whether the tunnel will collapse or not, and does not provide information on the magnitude of the post-failure behavior(for example, catastrophic or progressive) if the tunnel collapse occurs. In this study, a meshless method based on the material point method(MPM) was used to investigate the post-failure behavior of tunnel heading collapse in two-dimensional plane-strain conditions. The capability and accuracy of MPM were verified by comparing the elicited results to centrifuge test data and to analytical solutions obtained from limit state methods. MPM simulations were conducted at different soil conditions(clay or sand) and profiles(homogenous or linear increasing strength) as well as at different tunnel geometries(i.e. tunnel depth and unlined length). 16Runout of submarine landslide simulated with material point method显示文摘Most of the present knowledge on submarine landslides relies upon back-analysis of post-failure deposits identified using geophysical techniques.In this paper,the runout of slides on rigid bases is explored using the material point method(MPM)with focus on the geotechnical aspects of the morphologies.In MPM,the sliding material and bases are discretised into a number of Lagrangian particles,and a background Eulerian mesh is employed to update the state of the particles.The morphologies of the slide can be reproduced by tracking the Lagrangian particles in the dynamic processes.A real case history of a submarine slide is back-analyzed with the MPM and also a depth-averaged method.Runout of the slides from steep slopes to moderate bases are reproduced.Then different combinations of soil and basal parameters are assumed to trigger runout mechanisms of elongation,block sliding and spreading.The runout distances predicted by the MPM match well with those from large deformation finite element analysis for the elongation and block sliding patterns.Horst and grabens are shaped in a spreading pattern.However,the current MPM simulations for materials with high sensitivities are relatively mesh sensitive.Youkou Dong Dong Wang Mark F.Randolph 2017Journal of Hydrodynamics2017,29,3:4

20Multiple primary malignancies: a report of two cases显示文摘The diagnosis of multiple primary malignancies(MPMs) in a patient has been reported rather frequently during the past decade. Here we present two cases with three synchronous primary malignant tumors. The first patient is a 66-year-old male with synchronous colorectal cancer, renal cell carcinoma(RCC) and non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC). The second patient is a 64-year-old female with breast cancer, transitional cell carcinoma of the ureter and endometrial cancer.
