1Resveratrol provides neuroprotection by regulating the JAK2/STAT3/PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway after stroke in rats显示文摘Ischemic stroke is a common disease with high mortality and morbidity worldwide.One of the important pathophysiological effects of ischemic stroke is apoptosis.A neuroprotective effect is defined as the inhibition of neuronal apoptosis to rescue or delay the infarction in the surviving ischemic penumbra.Resveratrol is a natural polyphenol that reportedly prevents cerebral ischemia injury by regulating the expression of PI3K/AKT/mTOR.Therefore,this study aimed to elucidate the neuroprotective effect of resveratrol on cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury and to investigate the signaling pathways and mechanisms through which resveratrol regulates apoptosis in the ischemic penumbra.Rats were subjected to middle cerebral artery occlusion for 2 h followed by 24 h reperfusion.Cerebral infarct volume was measured using 2%TTC staining.TUNEL staining was conducted to evaluate neuronal apoptosis.Western blotting and immunohistochemistry were used to detect the proteins involved in the JAK2/STAT3/PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway.The results suggested that resveratrol significantly improved neurological function,reduced cerebral infarct volume,decreased neuronal damage,and markedly attenuated neuronal apoptosis;these effects were attenuated by the inhibition of PI3K/AKT with LY294002 and JAK2/STAT3 with AG490.We also found that resveratrol significantly upregulated the expression of p-JAK2,p-STAT3,p-AKT,p-mTOR,and BCL-2 and downregulated expression of cleaved caspase-3 and BAX,which was partially reversed by LY294002 and AG490.These results suggested that resveratrol provides a neuroprotective effect against cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury,which is partially mediated by the activation of JAK2/STAT3 and PI3K/AKT/mTOR.Resveratrol may indirectly upregulate the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway by activating JAK2/STAT3.Yongying Hou Ke Wang Weijun Wan Yue Cheng Xia Pu Xiufeng Ye 2018Genes & Diseases2018,5,3:60
2Dietary resveratrol improves antioxidant status of sows and piglets and regulates antioxidant gene expression in placenta by Keap1-Nrf2 pathway and Sirt1显示文摘Background: Resveratrol, a plant phenol, affords protection against inflammation and oxidative stress. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of dietary resveratrol supplementation during pregnancy and lactation on the antioxidant status of sows and piglets and on antioxidant gene expression and pathway in placenta.Methods: Forty sows were allotted to 2 dietary treatments 20 d after breeding. Sows were fed a control diet and a control diet with 300 mg/kg resveratrol. Oxidative stress biomarkers and antioxidant enzymes were measured in the placenta, milk, and plasma of sows and piglets. Antioxidant gene expression and protein expression of Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1-Nuclear factor E2-related factor 2(Keap1-Nrf2), nuclear factor kappa B-p65(NFκB-p65) and sirtuin1(Sirt1) were quantified in the placenta.Results: Dietary resveratrol increased the litter and piglets weaning weights. Antioxidant status in the milk, placenta and plasma of sows and piglets was partially improved by dietary resveratrol. In placenta, Nrf2 protein expression was increased and Keap1 protein expression was decreased by dietary resveratrol. The m RNA expression of antioxidant genes including catalase(CAT), glutathione peroxidase 1(GPX1), GPX4, superoxide dismutase 1(SOD1)and heme oxygenase 1(HO1), and phase 2 detoxification genes, including glutamate-cysteine ligase modifier(GCLM), microsomal glutathione S-transferase 1(MGST1) and UDP glucuronosyltransferase family 1 member A1(UGT1 A1), was increased by dietary resveratrol. Dietary resveratrol also increased Sirt1 and phosphorylated NFκB-p65 protein expression in the placenta. We failed to observe any influences of dietary resveratrol on pro-inflammatory cytokine levels, including those of interleukin 1β(IL-1β), IL-6, IL-8 and tumor necrosis factor α(TNF-α). However, we observed that the m RNA expression of IL-8 in placenta was reduced by maternal resveratrol. In addition, dietary resveratrol showed interactive effects with day of lactation on activities of SOD and CAT and levels of malonaldehyde(MDA) and hydrogen peroxide(H2 O2) in milk.Conclusions: Dietary resveratrol supplementation during pregnancy and lactation improves the antioxidant status of sows and piglets, which is beneficial to the reproductive performance of sows. 3Effect of resveratrol on Treg/Th17 signaling and ulcerative colitis treatment in mice显示文摘AIM:To determine the therapeutic efficacy of resveratrol on ulcerative colitis(UC) and its underlying mechanisms.METHODS:The mouse UC model was developed using 5% dextran sulfate sodium.Mice were randomly divided into four groups:normal control,UC model group,resveratrol low-dose group(RLD; 50 mg/kg per day),and resveratrol high-dose group(RHD; 100 mg/kg per day).RESULTS:The results showed that RLD regulates Treg/Th17 balance mainly through reducing the number of Th17 cells,whereas RHD regulates Treg/Th17 balance through both downregulating the number of Th17 cells and upregulating the number of Treg cells.Resveratrol can also regulate the level of plasma and intestinal mucosal cytokines including interleukin(IL)-10,transforming growth factor-β1,IL-6,and IL-17.The expressions of hypoxia inducible factor(HIF)-1α,mammalian target of rapamycin(m TOR),and signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 weresignificantly decreased in the intestinal tissues of mice treated with resveratrol.CONCLUSION:The therapeutic efficacy of resveratrol in UC is dose dependent and closely associated with the regulation of Treg/Th17 balance and the HIF-1α/mT OR signaling pathway.Jun Yao Cheng Wei Jian-Yao Wang Ru Zhang Ying-Xue Li Li-Sheng Wang 2015World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,21:23
4Resveratrol alleviates intestinal mucosal barrier dysfunction in dextran sulfate sodium-induced colitis mice by enhancing autophagy显示文摘BACKGROUND Intestinal mucosal barrier dysfunction plays an important role in the pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis(UC).Recent studies have revealed that impaired autophagy is associated with intestinal mucosal dysfunction in the mucosa of colitis mice.Resveratrol exerts anti-inflammatory functions by regulating autophagy.AIM To investigate the effect and mechanism of resveratrol on protecting the integrity of the intestinal mucosal barrier and anti-inflammation in dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)-induced ulcerative colitis mice.METHODS Male C57BL/6 mice were divided into four groups:negative control group,DSS model group,DSS+resveratrol group,and DSS+5-aminosalicylic acid group.The severity of colitis was assessed by the disease activity index,serum inflammatory cytokines were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Colon tissues were stained with haematoxylin and eosin,and mucosal damage was evaluated by mean histological score.The expression of occludin and ZO-1 in colon tissue was evaluated using immunohistochemical analysis.In addition,the expression of autophagy-related genes was determined using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and Western-blot,and morphology of autophagy was observed by transmission electron microscopy.RESULTS The resveratrol treatment group showed a 1.72-fold decrease in disease activity index scores and 1.42,3.81,and 1.65-fold decrease in the production of the inflammatory cytokine tumor necrosis factor-α,interleukin-6 and interleukin-1β,respectively,in DSS-induced colitis mice compared with DSS group(P<0.05).The expressions of the tight junction proteins occludin and ZO-1 in DSS model group were decreased,and were increased in resveratrol-treated colitis group.Resveratrol also increased the levels of LC3B(by 1.39-fold compared with DSS group)and Beclin-1(by 1.49-fold compared with DSS group)(P<0.05),as well as the number of autophagosomes,which implies that the resveratrol may alleviate intestinal mucosal barrier dysfunction in DSS-induced UC mice by enhancing autophagy.CONCLUSION Resveratrol treatment decreased the expression of inflammatory factors,increased the expression of tight junction proteins and alleviated UC intestinal mucosal barrier dysfunction;this effect may be achieved by enhancing autophagy in intestinal epithelial cells.Hang-Hai Pan Xin-Xin Zhou Ying-Yu Ma Wen-Sheng Pan Fei Zhao Mo-Sang Yu Jing-Quan Liu 2020World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,33:16
5Effects of mulberry leaf flavonoid and resveratrol on methane emission and nutrient digestion in sheep显示文摘As a new type of methane control agent, natural plant extract has been widely studied in recent years,but in vivo studies are few. This study was to investigate the effects of the dietary supplementation of 2 different polyphenols on the methane(CH4) emission and digestion metabolism in sheep. Ten healthy crossbred sheep(Dorper(?)× small-tailed Han ♀; BW 60.0 ± 1.73 kg) were used in a change-over design.The sheep were fed the following 3 diets in the present study: the basal diet(CON) with no supplementation; the basal diet supplemented with 2 g mulberry leaf flavonoid(MLF) per day per sheep; the basal diet supplemented with 0.25 g resveratrol(RES) per day per sheep. Both MLF and RES reduced CH4 emission scaled to metabolic weight per kilogram of DMI and CO2 output scaled to metabolic weight, but the effect of RES was significant(P < 0.05). Both MLF and RES significantly improved apparent digestibility of DM, OM, NDF, ADF, and nitrogen, but the effect of RES was significant(P < 0.05). Both MLF and RES significantly improved ME(P < 0.05) and reduced energy losses in CH4 emission(P > 0.05). 6A novel compound AB38b attenuates oxidative stress and ECM protein accumulation in kidneys of diabetic mice through modulation of Keap1/Nrf2 signaling显示文摘Extracellular matrix(ECM)deposition following reactive oxygen species(ROS)overproduction has a key role in diabetic nephropathy(DN),thus,antioxidant therapy is considered as a promising strategy for treating DN.Here,we investigated the therapeutic effects of AB38b,a novel syntheticα,β-unsaturated ketone compound,on the oxidative stress(OS)and ECM accumulation in type 2 diabetes mice,and tried to clarify the mechanisms underlying the effects in high glucose(HG,30 mM)-treated mouse glomerular mesangial cells(GMCs).Type 2 diabetes model was established in mice with high-fat diet feeding combined with streptozocin intraperitoneal administration.The diabetic mice were then treated with AB38b(10,20,40 mg·kg^?1·d^?1,ig)or a positive control drug resveratrol(40 mg·kg^?1·d^?1,ig)for 8 weeks.We showed that administration of AB38b or resveratrol prevented the increases in malondialdehyde level,lactate dehydrogenase release,and laminin and type IV collagen deposition in the diabetic kidney.Simultaneously,AB38b or resveratrol markedly lowered the level of Keap1,accompanied by evident activation of Nrf2 signaling in the diabetic kidney.The underlying mechanisms of antioxidant effect of AB38b were explored in HG-treated mouse GMCs.AB38b(2.5?10μM)or resveratrol(10μM)significantly alleviated OS and ECM accumulation in HG-treated GMCs.Furthermore,AB38b or resveratrol treatment effectively activated Nrf2 signaling by inhibiting Keap1 expression without affecting the interaction between Keap1 and Nrf2.Besides,AB38b treatment effectively suppressed the ubiquitination of Nrf2.Taken together,this study demonstrates that AB38b ameliorates experimental DN through antioxidation and modulation of Keap1/Nrf2 signaling pathway.Lei Du Lei Wang Bo Wang Jin Wang Meng Hao Yi-bing Chen Xi-zhi Li Yuan Li Yan-fei Jiang Cheng-cheng Li Hao Yang Xiao-ke Gu Xiao-xing Yin Qian Lu 2020Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2020,41,3:13
7Resveratrol: A potential challenger against gastric cancer显示文摘Gastric cancer(GC) is the fourth most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related mortality in the world. Late diagnosis and classical therapeutic approaches such as surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy make this disease a still threatening tumor.Genetic asset, environmental stress, dietary habit and infections caused by Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) arethe major causes concurring to GC initiation. A common mechanism is induction of radicals resulting in gastric mucosal injury. A regular food intake of antioxidant and radical scavenging agents has been proposed to exert protection against tumorigenesis. Resveratrol belongs to the polyphenol flavonoids class of antioxidants produced by a restricted number of plants. Resveratrol exerts bactericidal activity against H. pylori and is a powerful antioxidant, thus acting as a tumor preventive agent.Resveratrol intracellular signaling results in growth arrest and apoptosis, so that it can be directed against tumor progression. 8利用基因转化提高虎杖毛状根中活性成分的含量显示文摘通过转白藜芦醇合酶(resveratrol synthase,RS)基因提高虎杖毛状根中主要活性成分——白藜芦醇(resveratrol,RE)和白藜芦醇苷(polydatin,PD)的含量。用改进的高盐低pH法提取葡萄基因组DNA,通过PCR扩增获得RS基因序列,构建表达载体pCAMBIA1300—35S—RS,然后采用冻融法转化发根农杆菌ATCC11325,继而浸染划伤的虎杖无菌幼苗叶片,PCR和RT—PCR法鉴定RS基因在虎杖毛状根中的整合与表达,高效液相色谱(highly effective liquid chromatography,HPLC)法测定转基因毛状根中RE及PD的含量。首次成功诱导获得转RS基因虎杖毛状根,经鉴定该基因已在虎杖毛状根中得到整合与表达,RE和PD的含量分别为17~187μg·g^-1DW和836~1970μg·g^-1 DW,而未转基因虎杖毛状根中RE和PD的含量分别为0~130μg·g^-1 DW和190~320μg·g^-1 DW。在所选取的不同根系中,转基因毛状根PD的含量均得到显著提高,最高含量是未转基因毛状根的5倍,而RE含量提高不显著。苗晓燕 于树宏 沈银柱 黄占景 2007药学学报2007,42,9:12
9Dietary resveratrol attenuation of intestinal inflammation and oxidative damage is linked to the alteration of gut microbiota and butyrate in piglets challenged with deoxynivalenol显示文摘Background:Deoxynivalenol(DON)is a widespread mycotoxin that induces intestinal inflammation and oxidative stress in humans and animals.Resveratrol(RES)effectively exerts anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.However,the protective effects of RES on alleviating DON toxicity in piglets and the underlying mechanism remain unclear.Therefore,this study aimed to investigate the effect of RES on growth performance,gut health and the gut microbiota in DON-challenged piglets.A total of 64 weaned piglets[Duroc×(Landrace×Yorkshire),21-d-old,6.97±0.10 kg body weight(BW)]were randomly allocated to 4 treatment groups(8 replicate pens per treatment,each pen containing 2 males;n=16 per treatment)for 28 d.The piglets were fed a control diet(CON)or the CON diet supplemented with 300 mg RES/kg diet(RES group),3.8 mg DON/kg diet(DON)or both(DON+RES)in a 2×2 factorial design.Results:DON-challenged piglets fed the RES-supplemented diet had significantly decreased D-lactate concentrations and tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α)and interleukin 1 beta(IL-1β)mRNA and protein expression,and increased zonula occludens-1(ZO-1)mRNA and protein expression compared with those of DON-challenged piglets fed the unsupplemented diet(P<0.05).Compared with unsupplemented DON-challenged piglets,infected piglets fed a diet with RES showed significantly decreased malondialdehyde(MDA)levelsand increased mRNA expression of antioxidant enzymes and antioxidant genes(i.e.,GCLC,GCLM,HO-1,SOD1 and NQO-1)and glutamatecysteine-ligase modulatory subunit(GCLM)protein expression(P<0.05).Moreover,RES supplementation significantly abrogated the increase in the proportion of TUNEL-positive cells and the protein expression of caspase3 in DON-challenged piglets(P<0.05).Finally,RES supplementation significantly increased the abundance of Roseburia and butyrate concentrations,while decreasing the abundances of Bacteroides and unidentified-Enterobacteriaceae in DON-challenged piglets compared with DON-challenged piglets alone(P<0.05).Conclusions:RES supplementation improved gut health in DON-challenged piglets by strengthening intestinal barrier function,alleviating intestinal inflammation and oxidative damage,and positively modulating the gut microbiota.The protective effects of RES on gut health may be linked to increased Roseburia and butyrate concentrations,and decreased levels of Bacteroides and unidentified-Enterobacteriaceae.Yueqin Qiu Jun Yang Li Wang Xuefen Yang Kaiguo Gao Cui Zhu Zongyong Jiang 2021Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2021,12,4:12

11Effects of resveratrol in experimental and clinical non-alcoholic fatty liver disease显示文摘The prevalence of obesity and related conditions like non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is increasing worldwide and therapeutic options are limited.Alternative treatment options are therefore intensively sought after.An interesting candidate is the natural polyphenol resveratrol(RSV) that activates adenosinmonophosphate-activated protein kinase(AMPK) and silent information regulation-2 homolog 1(SIRT1).In addition,RSV has known anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.Here,we review the current evidence for RSVmediated effects on NAFLD and address the different aspects of NAFLD and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH) pathogenesis with respect to free fatty acid(FFA) flux from adipose tissue,hepatic de novo lipogenesis,inadequate FFA β-oxidation and additional intra- and extrahepatic inflammatory and oxidant hits.We review the in vivo evidence from animal studies and clinical trials.The abundance of animal studies reports a decrease in hepatic triglyceride accumulation,liver weight and a general improvement in histological fatty liver changes,along with a reduction in circulating insulin,glucose and lipid levels.Some studies document AMPK or SIRT1 activation,and modulation of relevant markers of hepatic lipogenesis,inflammation and oxidation status.However,AMPK/SIRT1-independent actions are also likely.Clinical trials are scarce and have primarily been performed with a focus on overweight/obese participants without a focus on NAFLD/NASH and histological liver changes.Future clinical studies with appropriate design are needed to clarify the true impact of RSV treatment in NAFLD/NASH patients.Sara Heebll Karen Louise Thomsen Steen B Pedersen Hendrik Vilstrup Jacob George Henning Grnbk 2014World Journal of Hepatology2014,6,4:11
12Effects of resveratrol and other polyphenols in hepatic steatosis显示文摘Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease covers a wide spectrum of liver pathologies which range from simple steatosis to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis.Polyphenols are members of a very large family of plant-derived compounds that can have beneficial effects on human health,and thus their study has become an increasingly important area of human nutrition research.The aim of the present review is to compile published data concerning the effects of both isolated polyphenols as well as polyphenol extracts,on hepatocyte and liver fat accumulation under different steatosis-inducing conditions.The results reported clearly show that this group of biomolecules is able to reduce fat accumulation,but further studies are needed to establish the optimal dose and treatment period length.With regard to the potential mechanisms of action,there is a good consensus.The anti-lipidogenic effect of polyphenols is mainly due to reduced fatty acid and triacylglycerol synthesis,increased in fatty acid oxidation,and reduced of oxidative stress and inflammation.As a general conclusion,it can be stated that polyphenols are biomolecules which produce hepatoprotective effects.To date,these beneficial effects have been demonstrated in cultured cells and animal models.Thus,studies performed in humans are needed before these molecules can be considered as truly useful tools in the prevention of liver steatosis.Leixuri Aguirre Maria Puy Portillo Elizabeth Hijona Luis Buja 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,23:11
13Antioxidant activity,total phenolic,and resveratrol content in five cultivars of peanut sprouts显示文摘Objective: To investigate the change in total phenolic compounds, antioxidant activity,and resveratrol content of five different germinated peanut cultivars.Methods: The germinated sprouts of five peanut cultivars(Kalasin1, Kalasin2, Konkaen,Konkaen4, and Tainan9) were extracted with 80% ethanol and collected as crude extract.The antioxidant capacities were determined with 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and ferric ion reducing antioxidant power method.The total phenolic compound was measured using the Folin–Ciocalteau assay.The qualification and quantification of resveratrol was performed by high performance liquid chromatography method.Results: Among the five cultivars, a three-day germination of Kalasin1 showed the highest phenolic content [(40.67 ± 2.62) mg gallic acid/g dry weight], expressed the highest 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl antioxidant value [(80.51 ± 1.47) mmol/L Trolox/g dry weight], and ferric ion reducing antioxidant power antioxidant value [(171.33 ± 8.59)mmol/L ascorbic acid/g dry weight].However, the high performance liquid chromatography result of Kalasin2 significantly increased to the highest resveratrol content of(6.44 ± 1.26) mg/g dry weight on the second day of germination.Conclusions: The variation of phytochemical content in the peanut sprout is due to the effect of the peanut cultivar and the germination period.Apinun Limmongkon Prachya Janhom Ampika Amthong Muenfan Kawpanuk Patcharaporn Nopprang Jirarat Poohadsuan Thapakorn Somboon Suwaree Saijeen Damratsamon Surangkul Metawee Srikummool Tantip Boonsong 2017Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2017,7,4:10
14Resveratrol-loaded peptide-hydrogels inhibit scar formation in wound healing through suppressing inflammation显示文摘Scar formation seriously affects the repair of damaged skin especially in adults and the excessive inflammation has been considered as the reason.The self-assembled peptide-hydrogels are ideal biomaterials for skin wound healing due to their similar nanostructure to natural extracellular matrix,hydration environment and serving as drug delivery systems.In our study,resveratrol,a polyphenol compound with anti-inflammatory effect,is loaded into peptide-hydrogel(Fmoc-FFGGRGD)to form a wound dressing(Pep/RES).Resveratrol is slowly released from the hydrogel in situ,and the release amount is controlled by the loading amount.The in vitro cell experiments demonstrate that the Pep/RES has no cytotoxicity and can inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines of macrophages.The Pep/RES hydrogels are used as wound dressings in rat skin damage model.The results suggest that the Pep/RES dressing can accelerate wound healing rate,exhibit well-organized collagen deposition,reduce inflammation and eventually prevent scar formation.The Pep/RES hydrogels supply a potential product to develop new skin wound dressings for the therapy of skin damage.Chen-Chen Zhao Lian Zhu Zheng Wu Rui Yang Na Xu Liang Liang 2020Regenerative Biomaterials2020,7,1:8
15Resveratrol suppresses bone cancer pain in rats by attenuating inflammatory responses through the AMPK/Drp1 signaling显示文摘Bone cancer pain(BCP)is induced by primary bone cancer and secondary bone metastasis.During BCP pathogenesis,activated spinal astrocytes release proinflammatory cytokines,which participate in pain information transmission.In this study,we found that BCP rats showed disruption of trabecular bone structure,mechanical allodynia,and spinal inflammation.Moreover,reduced adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase(AMPK)activity,increased mitochondrial fission-associated protein Drp1 GTPase activity accompanied by the dysfunction of mitochondrial function,and abnormal BAX and Bcl-2 expression were found in the spinal cord of BCP rats.Notably,these alterations are reversed by resveratrol(Res)administration.Cell experiment results demonstrated that Res promotes mitochondrial function by activating AMPK,decreasing Drp1 activity,and inhibiting tumor necrosis factor-cα-induced mitochondrial membrane potential reduction.Taken together,these results indicate that Res suppresses BCP in rats by attenuation of the inflammatory responses through the AMPK/Drp1 signaling pathway.Miaomiao Hao Qiong Tang Banghua Wang Yisheng Li Jieqiong Ding Mingyue Li Min Xie Haili Zhu 2020Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2020,52,3:8
16Comparison of the protective effects of resveratrol and pterostilbene against intestinal damage and redox imbalance in weanling piglets显示文摘Background: Evidence indicates that early weaning predisposes piglets to intestinal oxidative stress and increases the risk of intestinal dysfunction;however, there are minimal satisfactory treatment strategies for these conditions.This study investigated the potential of resveratrol and its analog, pterostilbene, as antioxidant protectants for regulating intestinal morphology, barrier function, and redox status among weanling piglets.Methods: A total of 144 piglets were selected at 21 days of age and randomly allocated into one of four treatment groups, each of which included six replicates. Piglets in a sow-reared control group were suckling normally between ages 21 and 28 days, while those in weaned groups were fed a basal diet, supplemented with either 300 mg/kg of resveratrol or with 300 mg/kg of pterostilbene. Parameters associated with intestinal injury and redox status were analyzed at the end of the feeding trial.Results: Early weaning disrupted the intestinal function of young piglets, with evidence of increased diamine oxidase activity and D-lactate content in the plasma, shorter villi, an imbalance between cell proliferation and apoptosis, an impaired antioxidant defense system, and severe oxidative damage in the jejunum relative to suckling piglets. Feeding piglets with a resveratrol-supplemented diet partially increased villus height(P = 0.056) and tended to diminish apoptotic cell numbers(P = 0.084) in the jejunum compared with those fed a basal diet. Similarly, these beneficial effects were observed in the pterostilbene-fed piglets. Pterostilbene improved the feed efficiency of weanling piglets between the ages of 21 and 28 days;it also resulted in diminished plasma diamine oxidase activity and D-lactate content relative to untreated weaned piglets(P < 0.05). Notably, pterostilbene restored jejunal antioxidant capacity, an effect that was nearly absent in the resveratrol-fed piglets. Pterostilbene reduced the malondialdehyde and 8-hydroxy-2′-deoxyguanosine contents of jejunal mucosa possibly through its regulatory role in facilitating the nuclear translocation of nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor 2 and the expression levels of NAD(P)H quinone dehydrogenase 1 and superoxide dismutase 2(P < 0.05).Conclusions: The results indicate that pterostilbene may be more effective than its parent compound in alleviating early weaning-induced intestinal damage and redox imbalance among young piglets.Hao Zhang Yanan Chen Yueping Chen Shuli Ji Peilu Jia Yue Li Tian Wang 2020Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2020,11,4:8

19Design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of ligustrazine/resveratrol hybrids as potential anti-ischemic stroke agents显示文摘To search for potent anti-ischemic stroke agents,a series of tetramethylpyrazine(TMP)/resveratrol(RES)hybrids 6 a-t were designed and synthesized.These hybrids inhibited adenosine diphosphate(ADP)-or arachidonic acid(AA)-induced platelet aggregation,among them,6 d,6 g-i,6 o and 6 q were more active than TMP.The most active compound 6 h exhibited more potent antiplatelet aggregation activity than TMP,RES,as well as positive control ticlopidine(Ticlid)and aspirin(ASP).Furthermore,6 h exerted strong antioxidative activity in a dose-dependent manner in rat pheochromocytoma PC12 cells which were treated with hydrogen peroxide(H2 O2)or hydroxyl radical(·OH).Importantly,6 h significantly protected primary neuronal cells suffered from oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation(OGD/R)injury,comparable to an anti-ischemic drug edaravone(Eda).Together,our findings suggest that 6 h may be a promising candidate warranting further investigation for the intervention of ischemic stroke.ZHANG Yin-Qiu WU Jian-Bing YIN Wei ZHANG Yi-Hua HUANG Zhang-Jian 2020Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2020,18,8:8
20Resveratrol extracted from Chinese herbal medicines: A novel therapeutic strategy for lung diseases显示文摘Lung diseases and their related complications represent a critical source of morbidity and mortality globally and have become a research focus in recent years.There are plenty of hazards that threaten the health of lung by exposure to external environmental stimuli,such as dust,cigarette smoke,PM2.5,air pollution and pathogen infection.These risks lead to the impairment of lung function and subsequent lung diseases including pneumonia,chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD),asthma and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis(IPF).Compared with antibiotics and corticosteroids therapies,traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions are more effective with fewer side effects.A considerable variety of bioactive ingredients have been extracted and identified from Chinese herbal medicines and are used for the treatment of different lung diseases,including resveratrol.Increasing studies have reported promising therapeutic effects of resveratrol against lung diseases by inhibiting oxidative stress,inflammation,aging,fibrosis and cancer both in vitro and in vivo.In this review,the recent progress in the studies of lungprotective effects and underlying mechanisms of resveratrol and also highlight the potency of resveratrol and traditional Chinese prescriptions containing resveratrol as promising therapeutic options were summarized for the treatment of lung and respiratory diseases.Bo-ning Ma Xiao-jiaoyang Li 2020Chinese Herbal Medicines2020,12,4:8
