Prototype for 5G New Air Interface Technology SCMA and Performance Evaluation显示文摘Sparse code multiple access(SCMA) is a novel non-orthogonal multiple access scheme proposed to meet the challenging demand of the future 5G communications, especially in support of the massive connections. The coded bits from each data stream will be directly mapped as multi-dimensional SCMA codeword in complex domain and then spread onto the physical resource elements in a sparse manner. The number of codewords that can be nonorthogonally multiplexed in one SCMA block can be made much larger than the number of orthogonal resource elements therein, resulting in an overloaded system. The sparsity in the spreading pattern and the design in the multidimensional modulator jointly ensure the SCMA codewords can be robustly decoded with low complexity. In this paper, we focus on the low complexity receiver design and verified the superior of an SCMA system via simulations and real-time prototyping. Lab tests and field tests all show that SCMA is a promising candidate for 5G non-orthogonal multiple access which can provide up to 300% overloading that triples the whole system throughput while still enjoying the link performance close to orthogonal transmissions. | LU Lei CHEN Yan GUO Wenting YANG Huilian WU Yiqun XING Shuangshuang | 2015 | China Communications2015,12,S1: | 15
Modulatory effect of International standard Scalp Acupuncture on brain activation in the elderly as revealed by resting-state fMRI显示文摘The specific mechanisms by which acupuncture affects the central nervous system are unclear. In the International Standard Scalp Acupuncture system, acupuncture needles are applied at the middle line of the vertex, anterior parietal-temporal oblique line, and the posterior parietal-temporal oblique line. We conducted a single-arm prospective clinical trial in which seven healthy elderly volunteers (three men and four women;50–70 years old) received International Standard Scalp Acupuncture at MS5 (the mid-sagittal line between Baihui (DU20) and Qianding (DU21)), the left MS6 (line joining Sishencong (EX-HN1) and Xuanli (GB6)), and the left MS7 (line joining DU20 and Qubin (GB7)). After acupuncture, resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated changes in the fractional amplitude of low frequency fluctuations and regional homogeneity in various areas, showing remarkable enhancement of regional homogeneity in the bilateral anterior cingulate, left medial frontal gyrus, supramarginal gyrus, right middle frontal gyrus, and inferior frontal gyrus. Functional connectivity based on a seed region at the right middle frontal gyrus (42, 51, 9) decreased at the bilateral medial superior frontal gyrus. Our data preliminarily indicates that the international standard scalp acupuncture in healthy elderly participants specifcally enhances the correlation between the brain regions involved in cognition and implementation of the brain network regulation system and the surrounding adjacent brain regions. | 4 | Independent Component Analysis and Graph Theoretical Analysis in Patients with Narcolepsy显示文摘The present study was aimed to evaluate restingstate functional connectivity and topological properties of brain networks in narcolepsy patients compared with healthy controls.Resting-state fMRI was performed in 26 adult narcolepsy patients and 30 matched healthy controls.MRI data were first analyzed by group independent component analysis, then a graph theoretical method was applied to evaluate the topological properties in the whole brain.Small-world network parameters and nodal topological properties were measured.Altered topological properties in brain areas between groups were selected as regionof-interest seeds, then the functional connectivity among these seeds was compared between groups.Partial correlation analysis was performed to evaluate the relationship between the severity of sleepiness and functional connectivity or topological properties in the narcolepsy patients.Twenty-one independent components out of 48 were obtained.Compared with healthy controls, the narcolepsy patients exhibited significantly decreased functional connectivity within the executive and salience networks, along with increased functional connectivity in the bilateral frontal lobes within the executive network. There were no differences in small-world network properties between patients and controls. The altered brain areas in nodal topological properties between groups were mainly in the inferior frontal cortex, basal ganglia, anterior cingulate, sensory cortex, supplementary motor cortex, and visual cortex. In the partial correlation analysis, nodal topological properties in the putamen, anterior cingulate, and sensory cortex as well as functional connectivity between these regions were correlated with the severity of sleepiness(sleep latency,REM sleep latency, and Epworth sleepiness score)among narcolepsy patients.Altered connectivity within the executive and salience networks was found in narcolepsy patients.Functional connection changes between the left frontal cortex and left caudate nucleus may be one of the parameters describing the severity of narcolepsy.Changes in the nodal topological properties in the left putamen and left posterior cingulate, changes in functional connectivity between the left supplementary motor area and right occipital as well as in functional connectivity between the left anterior cingulate gyrus and bilateral postcentral gyrus can be considered as a specific indicator for evaluating the severity of narcolepsy. | Fulong Xiao Chao Lu Dianjiang Zhao Qihong Zou Liyue Xu Jing Li Jun Zhang Fang Han | 2019 | Neuroscience Bulletin2019,35,4: | 7

Effective connectivity of dorsal and ventral visual pathways in chunk decomposition显示文摘Chunk decomposition is defined as a cognitive process which breaks up familiar items into several parts to reorganize them in an alternative approach. The present study investigated the effective connectivity of visual streams in chunk decomposition through dynamic causal modeling(DCM).The results revealed that chunk familiarity and perceptual tightness made a combined contribution to highlight not only the 'what' and the 'where' streams, but also the effective connectivity from the left inferior temporal gyrus to the left superior parietal lobule. | WU QiYuan1,2,WU LiLi1,2 & LUO Jing2* 1Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences,Beijing 100049,China 2Institute of Psychology,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Beijing 100101,China | 2010 | Science China(Life Sciences)2010,53,12: | 6
西南地区滇金丝猴潜在优先保护区与保护网络识别(英文)显示文摘In Southwest China, five Nature Reserves(NRs)(Mangkang, Baimaxueshan, Yunling, Habaxueshan, and Yunlongtianchi) play a key role in protecting the endemic and endangered Yunnan snub-nosed monkey(YSM)(Rhinopithecus bieti). However, increasing human activities threaten its habitats and corridors. We used a GIS-based Niche Model to delineate potential core habitats(PCHs) of the YSMs and a Linkage Mapper corridor simulation tool to restore potential connectivity corridors(PCCs), and defined five scenarios. A normalized importance value index(NIVI) was established to identify the protection priority areas(PPAs) for the YSMs for five scenarios. The results indicated that locations of the habitats and corridors were different in the five scenarios, thereby influencing the distribution of the PPAs and protection network of the YSMs. The NIVI value of Baimaxueshan nature reserve was 1 in the five scenarios, which implied the maximum importance. There were only 7 PCHs and 16 PCCs(with the longest average length of 223.13 km) which were mainly located around 5 NRs in scenario III. The protection network of the YSMs was composed of 16 PCHs, 18 PCCs, and 5 NRs. Under each scenario, most of the PCHs and the PCCs were located in the south of the study area. The five NRs only covered 2 PPAs of the YSMs. We suggest that the southern part of the study area needs to be strictly protected and human activities should be limited. The area of the five NRs should be expanded to maximize protection of the YSMs in the future. | 苏旭坤 韩王亚 刘国华 | 2019 | Journal of Geographical Sciences2019,29,7: | 6

Neural Mechanisms of Mental Fatigue Revisited: New Insights from the Brain Connectome显示文摘Maintaining sustained attention during a prolonged cognitive task often comes at a cost: high levels of mental fatigue. Heuristically, mental fatigue refers to a feeling of tiredness or exhaustion, and a disengagement from the task at hand;it manifests as impaired cognitive and behavioral performance. In order to effectively reduce the undesirable yet preventable consequences of mental fatigue in many real-world workspaces, a better understanding of the underlying neural mechanisms is needed, and continuous efforts have been devoted to this topic. In comparison with conventional univariate approaches, which are widely utilized in fatigue studies, convergent evidence has shown that multivariate functional connectivity analysis may lead to richer information about mental fatigue. In fact, mental fatigue is increasingly thought to be related to the deviated reorganization of functional connectivity among brain regions in recent studies. In addition, graph theoretical analysis has shed new light on quantitatively assessing the reorganization of the brain functional networks that are modulated by mental fatigue. This review article begins with a brief introduction to neuroimaging studies on mental fatigue and the brain connectome, followed by a thorough overview of connectome studies on mental fatigue. Although only a limited number of studies have been published thus far, it is believed that the brain connectome can be a useful approach not only for the elucidation of underlying neural mechanisms in the nascent field of neuroergonomics, but also for the automatic detection and classification of mental fatigue in order to address the prevention of fatigue-related human error in the near future. | Peng Qi Hua Ru Lingyun Gao Xiaobing Zhang Tianshu Zhou Yu Tian Nitish Thakor Anastasios Bezerianos Jinsong Li Yu Sun | 2019 | Engineering2019,5,2: | 5
Unmanned aerial vehicle swarm mission reliability modeling and evaluation method oriented to systematic and networked mission显示文摘With the development of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV) system autonomy, network communication technology and group intelligence theory, mission execution in the form of a UAV swarm will be an important realization of future applications. Traditional single-UAV mission reliability modeling methods have been unable to meet the requirements of UAV swarm mission reliability modeling. Therefore, the UAV swarm mission reliability modeling and evaluation method is proposed. First, aimed at the interdependence among the multiple layers, a multi-layer network model of a UAV swarm is established. At the same time, based on the system having the following characteristics—using a mission chain to complete the mission and applying the connectivity of the mission network—the mission network model of a UAV swarm is established. Second, vulnerability and connectivity are selected as two indicators to reflect the reliability of the mission, and aimed at random attack and deliberate attack, vulnerability and connectivity evaluation methods are proposed. Finally, the validity and accuracy of the constructed model are verified through simulations, and the model and selected indicators can meet the reliability requirements of the UAV swarm mission. In this way, this study provides quantitative reference for UAV-swarm-related decisionmaking work and supports the development of UAV-swarm-related work. | Lizhi WANG Xuejiao ZHAO Yuan ZHANG Xiaohong WANG Tielin MA Xia GAO | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2021,34,2: | 5
Aberrant Resting-State Functional Connectivity in the Default Mode Network in Pediatric Bipolar Disorder Patients with and without Psychotic Symptoms显示文摘Mood disorders/psychosis have been associated with dysfunctions in the default mode network(DMN).However, the relative contributions of DMN regions to state and trait disturbances in pediatric bipolar disorder(PBD)remain unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the possible mechanisms of PBD through brain imaging and explore the influence of psychotic symptoms on functional alterations in PBD patients.Twenty-nine psychotic and 26 non-psychotic PBD patients,as well as 19 age-and sex-matched healthy controls underwent a restingstate functional MRI scan and the data were analyzed by independent component analysis. The DMN component from the fMRI data was extracted for each participant.Spearman's rank correlation analysis was performed between aberrant connectivity and clinical measurements. The results demonstrated that psychotic PBD was characterized by aberrant DMN connectivity in the anterior cingulate cortex/medial prefrontal cortex, bilateral caudate nucleus, bilateral angular gyri, and left middle temporal gyrus, while non-psychotic PBD was not, suggesting further impairment with the development of psychosis. In summary,we demonstrated unique impairment in DMN functional connectivity in the psychotic PBD group. These specific neuroanatomical abnormalities may shed light on the underlying pathophysiology and presentation of PBD. | Yuan Zhong Chun Wang Weijia Gao Qian Xiao Dali Lu Qing Jiao Linyan Su Guangming Lu | 2019 | Neuroscience Bulletin2019,35,4: | 5
Alteration of functional connectivity in patients with Alzheimer’s disease revealed by resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging显示文摘The main symptom of patients with Alzheimer’s disease is cognitive dysfunction. Alzheimer’s disease is mainly diagnosed based on changes in brain structure. Functional connectivity reflects the synchrony of functional activities between non-adjacent brain regions, and changes in functional connectivity appear earlier than those in brain structure. In this study, we detected resting-state functional connectivity changes in patients with Alzheimer’s disease to provide reference evidence for disease prediction. Functional magnetic resonance imaging data from patients with Alzheimer’s disease were used to show whether particular white and gray matter areas had certain functional connectivity patterns and if these patterns changed with disease severity. In nine white and corresponding gray matter regions, correlations of normal cognition, early mild cognitive impairment, and late mild cognitive impairment with blood oxygen level-dependent signal time series were detected. Average correlation coefficient analysis indicated functional connectivity patterns between white and gray matter in the resting state of patients with Alzheimer’s disease. Functional connectivity pattern variation correlated with disease severity, with some regions having relatively strong or weak correlations. We found that the correlation coefficients of five regions were 0.3–0.5 in patients with normal cognition and 0–0.2 in those developing Alzheimer’s disease. Moreover, in the other four regions, the range increased to 0.45–0.7 with increasing cognitive impairment. In some white and gray matter areas, there were specific connectivity patterns. Changes in regional white and gray matter connectivity patterns may be used to predict Alzheimer’s disease;however, detailed information on specific connectivity patterns is needed. | 13 | Production line 3D visualization monitoring system design based on OpenGL显示文摘New production line management technologiesare required and adopted recently with the development ofmodern manufacturing industry. In this study, a productionline three-dimensional (3D) visualization monitoring sys-tem based on OpenGL modeling, open database connec-tivity (ODBC), and database management technology isestablished on a VC++6.0 platform to satisfy effectiveproduction. A client/server model is adopted in the system, and data on processing information, interactive operation, and failure process are stored in the server side database. Aclient reads the workpiece process information from theserver, and the machining process of every workpiece isvisually represented in the form of 3D visualization. Pro-duction line 3D visualization provides production capacitysimulation to optimize the parameter settings. Whencompared with the analysis results of production linecapacity, the key parameters possess the same optimalvalues, and this proves the accuracy of production line 3Dvisualization monitoring system. | 14 | On models for landscape connectivity: a case study of the new-born wetland of the Yellow River Delta显示文摘The models for landscape connectivity are distinguished into models for line connectivity, vertex connectivity, network connectivity and patch connectivity separately. Because the models for line connectivity, for vertex connectivity, and for network connectivity have long been studied and have become ripe, the model for patch connectivity is paid special attention in this paper. The patch connectivity is defined as the average movement efficiency (minimizing movement distance) of animal migrants or plant propagules in patches of a region under consideration. According to this definition, a model for landscape connectivity is mathematically deduced to apply to GIS data. The application of model for patch connectivity in the new-born wetland of the Yellow River Delta shows patch connectivity has a negative interrelation with human impact intensity and landscape diversity. | Yue Tian-xiang Ye Qing-hua Liu Qing-sheng Gong Zheng-hui | 2002 | Journal of Geographical Sciences2002,12,2: | 4
A Volumetric and Functional Connectivity MRI Study of Brain Arginine-Vasopressin Pathways in Autistic Children显示文摘Dysfunction of brain-derived arginine-vasopressin(AVP) systems may be involved in the etiology of autism spectrum disorder(ASD). Certain regions such as the hypothalamus, amygdala, and hippocampus are known to contain either AVP neurons or terminals and may play an important role in regulating complex social behaviors. The present study was designed to investigate the concomitant changes in autistic behaviors, circulating AVP levels, and the structure and functional connectivity(FC) of speci?c brain regions in autistic children compared with typically developing children(TDC) aged from 3 to5 years. The results showed:(1) children with ASD had a signi?cantly increased volume in the left amygdala and left hippocampus, and a signi?cantly decreased volume in the bilateral hypothalamus compared to TDC, and these were positively correlated with plasma AVP level.(2) Autistic children had a negative FC between the left amygdala and the bilateral supramarginal gyri compared to TDC. The degree of the negative FC between amygdala and supramarginal gyrus was associated with a higher score on the clinical autism behavior checklist.(3) The degree of negative FC between left amygdala and left supramarginal gyrus was associated with a lowering of the circulating AVP concentration in boys with ASD.(4) Autistic children showed a higher FC between left hippocampus and right subcortical area compared to TDC.(5) The circulating AVP was negatively correlated with the visual and listening response score of the childhood autism rating scale. These results strongly suggest that changes in structure and FC in brain regions containing AVP may be involved in the etiology of autism. | Xiao-Jing Shou Xin-Jie Xu Xiang-Zhu Zeng Ying Liu Hui-Shu Yuan Yan Xing Mei-Xiang Jia Qing-Yun Wei Song-Ping Han Rong Zhang Ji-Sheng Han | 2017 | Neuroscience Bulletin2017,33,2: | 4
Resting-state network complexity and magnitude changes in neonates with severe hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy显示文摘Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging has revealed disrupted brain network connectivity in adults and teenagers with cerebral palsy. However, the specific brain networks implicated in neonatal cases remain poorly understood. In this study, we recruited 14 termborn infants with mild hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy and 14 term-born infants with severe hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy from Changzhou Children's Hospital, China. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging data showed efficient small-world organization in whole-brain networks in both the mild and severe hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy groups. However, compared with the mild hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy group, the severe hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy group exhibited decreased local efficiency and a low clustering coefficient. The distribution of hub regions in the functional networks had fewer nodes in the severe hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy group compared with the mild hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy group. Moreover, nodal efficiency was reduced in the left rolandic operculum, left supramarginal gyrus, bilateral superior temporal gyrus, and right middle temporal gyrus. These results suggest that the topological structure of the resting state functional network in children with severe hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy is clearly distinct from that in children with mild hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, and may be associated with impaired language, motion, and cognition. These data indicate that it may be possible to make early predictions regarding brain development in children with severe hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, enabling early interventions targeting brain function. | 17 | Characteristics of high-rank coal structure parallel and perpendicular to the bedding plane via NMR and X-ray CT显示文摘Pores and fractures and their connectivity play a significant role in coalbed methane production. To investigate the growth characteristics and connectivity of pores and fractures in coal parallel and perpendicular to the bedding plane, the pores and fractures of high-rank coal samples collected from the southern Qinshui Basin were measured by low-field nuclear magnetic resonance,X-ray-computed tomography and field emission scanning electron microscopy. Then, the determinants of their connectivity were further discussed. The results show that the high-rank coal samples have similar pore size distributions both parallel and perpendicular to the bedding plane. They primarily contain mesopores(2-50 nm in width),followed by macrospores(> 50 nm in width). The research indicated that the high-rank coal connectivity parallel to the bedding plane is significantly better than that perpendicular to the bedding plane. The connectivity of high-rank coal is mainly determined by throats, and the orientation of the pores and fractures. The two connectivity modes in high-rank coal are 'pore connectivity,' in which the throats are mainly pores with a low coordination number, and 'microfissure connectivity',in which the throats are mainly microfissures with a high coordination number. | Shi-Qi Liu Shu-Xun Sang Qiu-Jia Hu Hui-Huang Fang | 2020 | Petroleum Science2020,17,4: | 4
Using resistance distance from circuit theory to model dispersal through habitat corridors显示文摘Aims Resistance distance(RD),based on circuit theory,is a promising metric for modelling effects of landscape configuration on dispersal of organ-isms and the resulting population and community patterns. The values of RD reflect the likelihood of a random walker to reach from a source to a certain destination in the landscape.Although it has successfully been used to model genetic structures of animal populations, where it most often outperforms other isolation metrics, there are hardly any applications to plants and,in particular,to plant community data. Our aims were to test if RD was a suitable metric for studying dispersal processes of plants in narrow habitat corridors(linear landscape ele-ments[LLE]).This would be the case,if dispersal processes(seed dis-persal and migration)resembled random walks.Further,we compared the model performance of RD against least-cost distance(LCD)and Euclidean distance(ED).Finally,we tested the suitability of different cost surfaces for calculations of LCD and RD.Methods We used data from 50 vegetation plots located on semi-natural LLE(field margins, ditches, road verges)in eight agricultural landscapes of Northwest Germany. We mapped LLE,including hedges and tree rows, from aerial images in a Geographic Information System,con-verted the maps into raster layers, and assigned resistance values to the raster cells, where all cells outside of LLE received infinite resist-ance and, thus, represented barriers to dispersal. For all pairs of plots within study areas,we calculated Jaccard similarity assuming that it was a proxy(or correlate)of dispersal events between plots.Further,we calculated RD and LCD of the network of LLE and ED between the plots. We modelled the effects of distance metrics on community similarity using binomial generalized linear mixed models.Important Findings ED was clearly the least suitable isolation metrics.Further,we found that RD performed better than LCD at modelling Jaccard similar-ity.Predictions varied markedly between the two distance metrics suggesting that RD comprises additional information about the landscape beyond spatial distance, such as the possible presence of multiple pathways between plots.Cost surfaces with equal cell-level resistances for all types of LLE performed better than more complex ones with habitat-specific resistances. We conclude that RD is a highly suitable measure of isolation or,inversely,connec-tivity for studying dispersal processes of plants within habitat cor-ridors.It is likely also suitable for assessing landscape permeability in other landscape types with areal habitats instead of narrow cor-ridors.RD holds the potential to improve assessments of isolation(or connectivity)for models of regional population and meta-com-munity dynamics. | Jan Thiele Sascha Buchholz Jens Schirmel | 2018 | Journal of Plant Ecology2018,11,3: | 3
