| 2 | Effects of location within the tree canopy on carbohydrates,organic acids,amino acids and phenolic compounds in the fruit peel and flesh from three apple(Malus×domestica)cultivars显示文摘Fruits from three cultivars of apple(Malus × domestica Borkh.)—‘McIntosh’,‘Gala’and‘Mutsu’—were harvested from the exterior and interior of the tree canopy.Peel and flesh tissues were sampled separately to determine how the position of the fruit on the tree might affect the levels of the primary and secondary metabolites in the fruit.Fruit from the outer-canopy had a higher fresh weight and a higher soluble solids content compared with inner-canopy fruit.Both the flesh and peel of the outer-canopy fruit had higher concentrations of soluble sugars and sugar alcohols,but lower starch concentrations than the inner-canopy fruit.Canopy position did not significantly affect malic acid concentrations,except in the peel of‘McIntosh’and the flesh of‘Mutsu’.Although levels of ascorbic and succinic acids were higher in the peel of the outer-canopy fruit,the responses of other organic acids to canopy position depended on tissue type and cultivar.Except for histidine,lysine,threonine and glycine,most amino acids accumulated at higher concentrations in the inner-canopy fruit.By contrast,levels of phenolic compounds from both the peel and flesh were significantly higher in the outer-canopy fruit.The significant effects of location within the canopy on both primary metabolites and secondary metabolites demonstrate the importance of light exposure on apple fruit quality. | Fengjuan Feng Mingjun Li Fengwang Ma Lailiang Cheng | 2014 | Horticulture Research2014,1,1: | 7 |

| 6 | Characteristics of the Outer Rainband Stratiform Sector in Numerically Simulated Tropical Cyclones:Lower-Layer Shear versus Upper-Layer Shear显示文摘Idealized numerical simulations are conducted in this study to comparatively investigate the characteristics of the stratiform sector in the outer rainbands of tropical cyclones(TCs)in lower-and upper-layer vertical wind shear(VWS)with moderate magnitude.Consistent with the results in previous studies,the outer rainband stratiform sector of the TCs simulated in both experiments is generally located downshear left.Upper-layer VWS tends to produce stronger asymmetric outflow at upper levels in the downshear-left quadrant than lower-layer shear.This stronger asymmetric outflow transports more water vapor radially outward from the inner core to the outer core at upper levels in the downshear-left quadrant in the upper-layer shear experiment.More depositional growth of both graupel and cloud ice thus occurs downshear left in upper layers in the outer core,yielding more diabatic heating and stronger upward motions,particularly in the stratiformdominated part of the stratiform sector in the upper-layer shear experiment.Resultingly,a better-organized stratiform sector in the outer rainbands is found in the upper-layer VWS experiment than in the lower-layer VWS experiment.The diabatic heating associated with the stratiform sector produces strong midlevel outflow on the radially inward side of,and weak midlevel inflow on the radially outward side of,the heating core,with lower-level inflow beneath the midlevel outflow and upper-level inflow above.The upper-layer VWS tends to produce a deeper asymmetric inflow layer in the outer rainband stratiform sector,with more significant lower-level inflow and tangential jets in the upper-layer VWS experiment. | Qi GAO Qingqing LI Yufan DAI | 2020 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,4: | 4 |

| 9 | Diversity of metabolite accumulation patterns in inner and outer seed coats of pomegranate:exploring their relationship with genetic mechanisms of seed coat development显示文摘The expanded outer seed coat and the rigid inner seed coat of pomegranate seeds,both affect the sensory qualities of the fruit and its acceptability to consumers.Pomegranate seeds are also an appealing model for the study of seed coat differentiation and development.We conducted nontarget metabolic profiling to detect metabolites that contribute to the morphological differentiation of the seed coats along with transcriptomic profiling to unravel the genetic mechanisms underlying this process.Comparisons of metabolites in the lignin biosynthetic pathway accumulating in seed coat layers at different developmental stages revealed that monolignols,including coniferyl alcohol and sinapyl alcohol,greatly accumulated in inner seed coats and monolignol glucosides greatly accumulated in outer seed coats.Strong expression of genes involved in monolignol biosynthesis and transport might explain the spatial patterns of biosynthesis and accumulation of these metabolites.Hemicellulose constituents and flavonoids in particular accumulated in the inner seed coat,and candidate genes that might be involved in their accumulation were also identified.Genes encoding transcription factors regulating monolignol,cellulose,and hemicellulose metabolism were chosen by coexpression analysis.These results provide insights into metabolic factors influencing seed coat differentiation and a reference for studying seed coat developmental biology and pomegranate genetic improvement. | Gaihua Qin Chunyan Liu Jiyu Li Yongjie Qi Zhenghui Gao Xiaoling Zhang Xingkai Yi Haifa Pan Ray Ming Yiliu Xu | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 4 |
| 10 | Development of Cryogenic Disinfectants Using in-18℃and-40℃Environments—Worldwide,2021显示文摘Introduction:Since the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)in Beijing Xinfadi Wholesale Market,a series of COVID-19 outbreaks has indicated the threat of transmission due to outer surfaces of objects under low temperatures.Therefore,2 kinds of chlorine-containing disinfectants for−18℃and−40℃were developed in order to solve the problem of low temperature disinfection.Methods:The properties of two cryogenic disinfectants were evaluated by low-temperature test.Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli were used as two indicator microorganisms to evaluate the effects of the two cryogenic disinfectants in the laboratory and field tests according to Technical Specifications for Disinfection(2002 version)and Test method for bactericidal effect of disinfectants in laboratory(GB/T 38502-2020).Results:Two disinfectants could remain in the liquid state at−18℃or−40℃in 72 hours without crystallization and precipitation,and the average log values of microbial reduction before and after disinfection(the average killing log value)both on Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli were>3 in the laboratory and field tests.Discussion:The results showed that these two disinfectants remained functional at low temperature to disinfect the packaging of imported cold chain food and surrounding packaging to prevent transmission of COVID-19 from material to people. | Huihui Sun Hongyang Duan Wei Zhang Chen Liang Luyao Li Yuan Lyu Yanyan Chen Jin Shen Liubo Zhang | 2021 | China CDC weekly2021,3,13: | 4 |

| 17 | Lipofuscins prepared by modification of photoreceptor cells via glycation or lipid peroxidation show the similar phototoxicity显示文摘AIM To investigate the effect of two ways of lipofuscin production(lipid peroxidation and glycation) on lipofuscin fluorescence characteristics and phototoxicity and to compare them with the properties of natural lipofuscin.METHODS Model lipofuscins were prepared on the basis of bovine photoreceptor outer segments(POS) with bisretinoid A2 E addition. One set of samples was prepared from POS modified by lipid peroxidation,while another set from POS modified by glycation with fructose. Fluorescent properties and kinetics of photoinduced superoxide generation of model lipofuscins and human retinal pigment epithelium(RPE) lipofuscin were compared. The fluorescence spectra of samples were measured at 365 nm excitation wavelength and 380-650 emission wavelength. RESULTS The fluorescence spectra of model lipofuscins are almost the same as the spectrum of natural lipofuscin. Visible light irradiation of both model lipofuscins and natural lipofuscin isolated from RPE cells leads to decrease of a fluorescence maximum at 550 nm and to appearance of a distinct,new maximum at 445-460 nm.
