Molecular systematics, population genetics and phylogeography on planarians(Platyhelminths: Turbellaria): A brief review of molecular markers显示文摘Due to their characteristics, such as powerful regeneration capability, high susceptibility to xenobiotics, wide distribution and weak dispersion ability, planarians are used as ideal test animals in several research fields, and planarianology has become a more and more active subject. This paper reviews the research progress of planarians from the aspects of molecular phylogeny, molecular taxonomy, population genetics and phylogeography, and also summarizes the corresponding molecular markers applied. Moreover, the future direction and tendency in this field is briefly analyzed and prospected.Hecai Zhang Tiange Hu Changying Shi Guangwen Chen 2019Zoological Systematics2019,44,3:2
Genetic diversity and population structure of Hibiscus aridicola, an endangered ornamental species in dry-hot valleys of Jinsha River显示文摘Hibiscus aridicola is an endangered ornamental shrub of the family Malvaceae that is endemic to the dryhot valleys of Jinsha River in southwestern China. This species is a typical plant species with extremely small populations(PSESP).To support and monitor future conservation, develop management measures, and genotype this species,we performed extensive field studies together with genetic analyses.Specifically,we screened eleven microsatellite loci of 69 individuals of H.aridicola from four accessions. The population genetics analyses indicated that H.aridicola possesses high genetic diversity at both the population(0.6962-0.7293)and species level(0.7837)compared to other endemic/endangered species in China. The low differentiation of populations(Fst=0.0971)and the high gene flow between populations of H.aridicola(Nm=2.3236)could be due to its distribution along rivers in the hot-valleys of the Jinsha River and the wind-mediated dispersal of its seeds.Furthermore, the genetic diversity of H.aridicola is slightly positively correlated with geographic distance. Two populations are undergoing a genetic bottleneck, and require more specific attention from conservationists.Additionally, our analyses of the population genetics of H.aridicola demonstrate that the declines in populations are not the result of the internal genetics of these populations but due to external human activities over the past decades.Xin Zhang Le Zhang Johann Schinnerl Wei-Bang Sun Gao Chen 2019Plant Diversity2019,41,5:1
Relationship between the haplotype distribution of Artemisia halodendron(Asteraceae) and hydrothermal regions in Horqin Sandy Land, northern China显示文摘The genetic diversity of Artemisia halodendron(Asteraceae), a constructive and dominant species in Horqin Sandy Land, was investigated to examine the genetic relationships with different hydrothermal regions in Horqin Sandy Land. We sequenced chloroplast DNA(cp DNA) fragments(trn L–F) of 243 plants from 10 populations across the Horqin Sandy Land. The analyses of cp DNA variation identified seven haplotypes. A low level of haplotype diversity(H_d=0.706) and nucleotide diversity(π=0.0013) was detected. Haplotypes clustered into two tentative clades. Low genetic differentiation among regions was consistently indicated by hierarchical analyses of molecular variance(AMOVA). Across the sampled populations, the haplotype distributions were differentiated with hydrothermal gradients.WenDa Huang XueYong Zhao YuLin Li YuQiang Li YaYong Luo 2018Research in Cold and Arid Regions2018,10,2:0
The Migration Pathway of the Proto Nuclear Micronesians:A Linguistic Trail显示文摘Over the last five decades or so, historical linguists have proposed as many as four different hypotheses concerning the migration pathway of Proto Nuclear Micronesians (i.e. the ancestors of Nuclear-Micronesian-language speakers): Proto Nuclear Micronesians may have reached Micronesia by moving from northern Vanuatu, from the Cristobal-Malaitan region, from the Admiralty or the St Matthias Islands, or even from somewhere in the vast southeast Solomons-New Hebrides region. This article provides an overview of these hypotheses, coming to the conclusion that there is no conclusive linguistic evidence, historical-comparative or otherwise, for any of the hypotheses. In view of this state of affairs, the article makes use of Johanna Nichols‘s population typology model so as to understand better the migration route of Proto Nuclear Micronesians. This innovative model has been developed to investigate geographical distributions of structural properties with a view to making inferences about human migration. In particular, the structural property of possessive classifiers, which is one of the major structural characteristics of Micronesian languages, is selected in order to ascertain how this structural property is distributed in the wider geographical areas surrounding Micronesia.Proto Nuclear Micronesians must have carried their propensity for a large number of possessive classifiers in their language(s) when travelling from somewhere into Micronesia.Jae Jung Song 2009宏观语言学2009,3,1:0
Association of Varroa destructor females in multiply infested cells of the honeybee Apis mellifera显示文摘The genetic diversity of Varroa destructor (Anderson &Trueman)is limited outside its natural range due to population bottlenecks and its propensity to inbreed. In light of the arms race between V.destructor and its honeybee (Apis mellifera L.)host, any mechanism enhancing population admixture of the mite may be favored. One way that admixture can occur is when two genetically dissimilar mites coinvade a brood cell, with the progeny of the foundresses admixing. We determined the relatedness of 393 pairs of V.destructor foundresses, each pair collected from a single bee brood cell (n =five colonies). We used six microsatellites to identify the genotypes of mites coinvading a cell and calculated the frequency of pairs with different or the same genotypes. We found no deviation from random coinvasion, but the frequency of cells infested by mites with different genotypes was high. This rate of recombination, coupled with a high transmission rate of mites, homogenized the allelic pool of mites within the apiary.Alexis L.Beaurepaire James D.Ellis Klemens J.Krieger Robin F.A.Moritz 2019Insect Science2019,26,1:0
Genetic diversity in old populations of sessile oak from Calabria assessed by nuclear and chloroplast SSR显示文摘In the framework of forest resources conservation, this study aims to understand the dynamic and the genetic structure of sessile oak forests in Calabria, Italy. Two old populations of sessile oak(Quercus petraea(Mattuschka) Liebl.) from two areas of Sila and Aspromonte massifs in Calabria were analyzed for genetic diversity and population structure based on 6 nuclear simple sequence repeat(nSSR) and 4 chloroplastic SSR(cpSSR) loci. The populations displayed high amount of genetic diversity, which was toughly structured according to their geographical origins. Number of alleles at SSR loci ranged from 11 to 20 with an average of 13.5 per locus. Gene diversity(expected heterozygosity, He) estimates ranged from 0.575 to 0.834 with a mean of 0.749. The observed heterozygosity(Ho) was on average 0.458 ranging from 0.150 to 0.682. Polymorphism information content(PIC) values ranged from 0.625 to 0.865 with an average of 0.787. The analysis of molecular variance(AMOVA) highlighted a significant higher estimated variance within populations compared to among populations. Finally, the analysis of haplotypes by using cpSSR suggested a higher diversification in the population from Sila. Hierarchical clustering analysis grouped the genotypes into two major clusters, which agreed with the geographic origin of populations, and was confirmed by the Discriminant Analysis of Principal Components(DAPC). The first cluster included plants/population from Sila massif, while the second encompassed mostly plants/population sampled in Aspromonte massif. Finally, model-based clustering by STRUCTURE analysis also supported the presence of clear genetic structuring in the collection with two major populations(K=2) supported to PCoA analysis as well. Finally, our data indicated the Aspromonte population as a marginal forest with fragmented distribution suggesting different strategies of preservation than in Sila massif.Antonio LUPINI Meriem Miyassa ACI Antonio MAUCERI Giuseppe LUZZI Silvio BAGNATO Giuliano MENGUZZATO Francesco MERCATI Francesco SUNSERI 2019Journal of Mountain Science2019,16,5:0
Impacts of domestication on population genetics of a traditional Chinese medicinal herb,Atractylodes macrocephala(Asteraceae)显示文摘As a medicinal herb,Atractylodes macrocephala Koidz.experienced centuries of cultivation in China, and germplasm resources of all cultivated populations have degraded over time as a consequence of domestication processes. This study used chloroplast DNA and microsatellites to clarify not only the effects of domestication on population genetics, but also determine the geographic origins of landraces. The results revealed that cultivated populations(except the'Pingzhu'landrace)showed higher genetic diversity than their wild counterparts and lowlevels of genetic differentiation occurred between cultivated and wild groups.Furthermore,STRUCTURE and UPGMA analyses grouped all wild populations into three genotypic clusters, two of which(in Shaanxi and Hunan Province)shared the same gene pool with cultivated A.macrocephala, suggesting that wild populations in Central China have been involved in the origin of cultivated A.macrocephala.Moreover,the wild population from Qimen,Anhui Province and the cultivated'Pingzhu'landrace harbor unique gene pools and rare alleles that could be useful in future breeding efforts. This large-scale analysis of population genetics on a medicinal herb that has a centuries-long history of human-mediated selection will facilitate utilization and conservation of the valuable genetic resources of medicinal species.Chuan Chen Li zheng Qing Ma Wen-Bin Zhou Yin Lu Yun-Peng Zhao Cheng-Xin Fu 2019Journal of Systematics and Evolution2019,57,3:0
THE DIFFUSION MODEL OF GENE IN THE POPULATION WITH OVERLAPPING GENERATION AND ITS HETEROZYGOSITY显示文摘The diffusion model in population genetics based on the stochastic theory has a great effect on the elucidation of both the genetic structure of Mendelian population and the molecular evolutionary mechanism. A series of formulas used to verify the hypothesis of evolution are mostly derived from the diffusion theory established by Kimura and his coworkers. It is worthwhile to go further into the fundamentals of the stochastic model.谷迅 刘祖洞 1988Chinese Science Bulletin1988,33,19:0
