| 1 | Does the ratio of the carpal tunnel inlet and outlet cross-sectional areas in the median nerve reflect carpal tunnel syndrome severity?显示文摘Although ultrasound measurements have been used in previous studies on carpal tunnel syndrome to visualize injury to the median nerve, whether such ultrasound data can indicate the severity of carpal tunnel syndrome remains controversial. The cross-sectional areas of the median nerve at the tunnel inlet and outlet can show swelling and compression of the nerve at the carpal. We hypothesized that the ratio of the cross-sectional areas of the median nerve at the carpal tunnel inlet to outlet accurately reflects the severity of carpal tunnel syndrome. To test this, high-resolution ultrasound with a linear array transducer at 5–17 MHz was used to assess 77 patients with carpal tunnel syndrome. The results showed that the cut-off point for the inlet-to-outlet ratio was 1.14. Significant differences in the inlet-to-outlet ratio were found among patients with mild, moderate, and severe carpal tunnel syndrome. The cut-off point in the ratio of cross-sectional areas of the median nerve was 1.29 between mild and more severe(moderate and severe) carpal tunnel syndrome patients with 64.7% sensitivity and 72.7% specificity. The cut-off point in the ratio of cross-sectional areas of the median nerve was 1.52 between the moderate and severe carpal tunnel syndrome patients with 80.0% sensitivity and 64.7% specificity. | 3 | Effect of Eu^(3+) doping on luminescence properties of a KAlSiO_(4):Sm^(3+) phosphor显示文摘This study presents the photoluminescence characteristic analysis of a series of red phosphors of KAlSiO_(4):1.5 mol%Sm^(3+),x mol%Eu^(3+)(x=2,3,4,5,6,7)prepared via high-temperature solid-phase reaction.The results show that the X-ray diffraction(XRD)refinement results are reliable.The unit cell parameters and volume gradually decrease as the Eu^(3+) concentration increases,resulting in a grain size reduction of 10.22%.When x=6,the emission peaks of Sm^(3+) at 564,601,and 651 nm disappear completely,and the corresponding full width at half maximum becomes 0.At 610 nm,the emission peak intensity of Eu^(3+) is increased by a factor of 4.8.The resonant non-radiative energy transfer effect is greater than the co-excitation effect.A maximum energy transfer efficiency of 97.8%is achieved.The integral area at 610 nm is as high as 85%.The color purity of the phosphor is as high as 92.97%,and the internal quantum yield gradually changes from 32%to 51%.Ultimately,these results confirm that the silicate phosphor is suitable for the red component in the three primary color phosphors of white light-emitting diodes. | Reziwanguli Yantake Aierken Sidike Taximaiti Yusufu | 2022 | Journal of Rare Earths2022,40,3: | 2 |
| 4 | Mixed-solvent thermal synthesis and magnetic properties of flower-like microstructured nickel显示文摘Flower-like microstructured nickel was synthesized by a facile mixed-solvent thermal process. The structure, morphology, and magnetic properties of the reaction products were investigated, respectively, by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM). The results showed that the products consisted of a face-centered cubic (fcc) structure with lattice constant of = 3.524 A . The average diameter of flower-like microstructured nickel was about 5 m and the thickness of a single flake was about 100 nm. | 10 | Melatonin alleviates heat stress‑induced testicular damage in dairy goats by inhibiting the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway显示文摘Current measures mainly focus on how melatonin reduces physiological heat stress in animals,but its effects on reproductive damage to male dairy goats have been neglected.This study aimed to determine the protective effect of melatonin on male reproduction during heat stress in dairy goats and to further explore its mechanisms.A natural heat stress model of Saanen dairy goats was used to assess testicular tissue damage 7days after heat stress and to examine semen quality changes during a spermatogenic cycle.RNA-seq,Western blot,RT–qPCR,and immunofluo-rescence staining were used to explore the mechanism by which melatonin protects against heat stress-induced reproductive damage and to validate the results.The data suggested that melatonin significantly alleviated the heat stress-induced decrease in sperm quality,protected varicose tubule structure,reduced the levels of heat shock proteins and apoptotic proteins and protected the spermatocytes and round spermatozoa,which are mainly affected by heat stress.RNA-seq results suggest that melatonin inhibits the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway,reduces the level of p-AKT,and promotes elevated BCL-2.In addition,melatonin treatment could upregulate the gene expression of MT2 which was downregulated by heat stress and improve the change in extracellular matrix components and restore serum testosterone levels.Our results suggest that melatonin can protect against testicular and spermatogenic cell damage and improve semen quality in male dairy goats under heat stress.This study provides an important reference for subsequent studies on the molecular mechanisms of melatonin in protecting male reproductive processes under heat stress and using exogenous melatonin to prevent heat stress. | Yundie Liu Hui Cai Xinrui Guo Aili Aierken Jinlian Hua Baohua Ma Sha Peng | 2022 | Stress Biology2022,2,1: | 1 |
| 11 | An Investigation of the First Case of Human Rabies Caused by a Fox in China in May 2016显示文摘This study assesses the causes and prevention measures of rabies through epidemiological investigation and analysis. A field epidemiological survey was conducted to investigate a case of rabies by fox bite. The onset of symptoms began 50 days after the bite. The patient did not receive standard treatment, rabies vaccination, or rabies immunoglobulin injection. The fox was killed on the spot. Saliva and pre-death blood samples were collected at different periods, and only blood RT-PCR tests yielded positive results. Meanwhile, two esterification products of 1, penifellutins C (3) and D (4), were obtained because compound 1 could be esterified spontaneously when stored in methanol. | 19 | Novel insights into the spatial genetic patterns of the finless porpoise from East to Southeast Asia显示文摘Several cetacean species are endemically distributed throughout the Indo-Pacific.Due to disproportionate sampling and research efforts across the Indo-Pacific region,the spatial genetic structure of these species remains poorly understood.This has led to poor phylogeographic knowledge and ambiguous taxonomic classification of many Indo-Pacific cetacean species.Of these,the finless porpoise(genus Neophocaena)is a small cetacean obligatory to the inshore waters from East Asia to the Persian Gulf of the Indian Ocean.To date,two species are generally recognized:the narrow-ridged finless porpoise inhabiting temperate and subtropical waters,and wideridged finless porpoises inhabiting subtropical and tropical waters.Early research efforts focused on the temperate waters off the northern China.However,recent studies have proposed that the primary divergence within the genus may lie between the Indian Ocean and Pacific region,which remains to be tested with more samples from tropical and subtropical regions.Here,we examined the genetic relationship among the finless porpoises from the Gulf of Thailand to the Taiwan Strait using both mitochondrial and autosomal markers.Bayesian assignment analysis suggested a minimum of four genetic populations within the study areas,corresponding to the narrowridged finless porpoise from the Taiwan Strait(TWSn),and the three wide-ridged finless porpoise populations from the Taiwan Strait(TWSw),Pearl River Delta region(PRDw),and the Gulf of Thailand(Thaiw),respectively.The minimum spanning network of the mtDNA control region found shared haplotypes among finless porpoises in Chinese waters,but those from the Gulf of Thailand formed a unique matriline lineage.Consistently,the genetic differentiation or divergence within the South China Sea(Thaiw vs.PRDw)appears to be higher than that of most finless porpoise populations examined to date,and meets the threshold values of species or sub-species level proposed for the cetacean species.The Mantel test detected a strong correlation between the geographic and genetic matrices within the South China Sea(r>0.99,p<0.001),indicating that the divergence associated with isolation-by-distance(IBD)has been accumulating in recent history.Our results imply that the formation and maintenance of the spatial genetic pattern of the finless porpoise is more complex than previously thought.However,this cannot be addressed by the current taxonomic classification of the genus. | Wenzhi Lin Liyuan Zhao Shenglan Chen Watchara Sakornwimon Reyilamu Aierken Kongkiat Kittiwattanawong Xianyan Wang Songhai Li | 2023 | Water Biology and Security2023,2,1: | 0 |
