1Preparation, characterization and in vivo evaluation of alginate-coated chitosan and trimethylchitosan nanoparticles loaded with PR8 influenza virus for nasal immunization显示文摘For efficient mucosal vaccine delivery, nanoparticulate antigens are better taken by microfold cells in the nasal associated lymphoid tissue and also dendritic cells. Nanoparticles based on polymers such as chitosan(CHT) and its water soluble derivative, trimethylchitosan(TMC), could be successfully used as carrier/adjuvant for this purpose. Sodium alginate, a negatively charged biopolymer, could modify the immunostimulatory properties of CHT and TMC NPs and increase their stability. Sodium alginate(ALG)-coated chitosan(CHT)and trimethylchitosan(TMC) nanoparticles(NPs) loaded with inactivated PR8 influenza virus were successfully prepared by direct coating of the virus with CHT or TMC polymers to evaluate their immunoadjuvant potential after nasal immunization. After nasal immunizations in BALB/c mice, PR8-CHT formulation elicited higher IgG2 a and Ig G1 antibody titers compared with PR8-TMC. ALG coating of this formulation(PR8-CHT-ALG) significantly decreased the antibody titers and a less immune response was induced than PR8-TMC-ALG formulation. PR8-TMC-ALG formulation showed significantly higher Ig G2 a/Ig G1 ratio, as criteria for Th1-type immune response, compared with PR8-CHT-ALG and PR8 virus alone. 2Human microbiome and prostate cancer development:current insights into the prevention and treatment显示文摘The huge communities of microorganisms that symbiotically colonize humans are recognized as significant players in health and disease.The human microbiome may influence prostate cancer development.To date,several studies have focused on the effect of prostate infections as well as the composition of the human microbiome in relation to prostate cancer risk.Current studies suggest that the microbiota of men with prostate cancer significantly differs from that of healthy men,demonstrating that certain bacteria could be associated with cancer development as well as altered responses to treatment.In healthy individuals,the microbiome plays a crucial role in the maintenance of homeostasis of body metabolism.Dysbiosis may contribute to the emergence of health problems,including malignancy through affecting systemic immune responses and creating systemic inflammation,and changing serum hormone levels.In this review,we discuss recent data about how the microbes colonizing different parts of the human body including urinary tract,gastrointestinal tract,oral cavity,and skin might affect the risk of developing prostate cancer.Furthermore,we discuss strategies to target the microbiome for risk assessment,prevention,and treatment of prostate cancer.Solmaz Ohadian Moghadam Seyed Ali Momeni 2021Frontiers of Medicine2021,15,1:2

5Coagulase gene polymorphism of Staphylococcus aureus isolates: A study on dairy food products and other foods in Tehran, Iran显示文摘Coagulase is considered as a major determinant factor for the identification of Staphylococcus aureus strains.The 3-end coding region of the coagulase(coa)gene contains a series of 81-bp tandem repeats,which differ in the number and location of enzymatic restriction sites among different isolates.coa PCR-RFLP has been used widely to type S.aureus isolates in epidemiological studies.The current study was conducted to investigate the coagulase gene polymorphisms in S.aureus isolated from various food samples using an in house PCR-RFLP method.A total of 100 strains of S.aureus were isolated from food samples.Isolates were typed by PCR-RFLP analysis using NdeI restriction digestion of the coagulase gene PCR products.Results showed that amplification of coagulase genes from S.aureus produced different PCR products.The isolates were grouped into 18 genotypes using RFLP analysis results of the genes.In this study,the S.aureus isolates have been shown to include more than one coagulase genotype,but only had a few coa genotypes predominated.Mohammad Mehdi Soltan Dallal Mohammad Reza Khoramizadeh Solmaz Agha Amiri Ali Akbar Saboor Yaraghi Ramin Mazaheri Nezhad Fard 2016Food Science and Human Wellness2016,5,4:0

7Relation of binge eating disorder with impulsiveness in obese individuals显示文摘AIM To investigate the levels of impulsiveness, and the relationship between the binge eating disorder(BED) and the levels of impulsiveness in obese individuals.METHODS Two hundred and forty-one obese patients who were included in the study and candidate for bariatric surgery(weight loss surgery) were clinically interviewed to identify the BED group, and patients were divided into two groups: Those with BED and those without BED. The comorbidity rate of groups was determined by using structured clinical interview for DSM-Ⅳ(SCID-Ⅰ). A sociodemographic data form including the story of previous psychiatric treatment, structured clinical interview for DSM-Ⅳ(SCID-Ⅰ), Beck Anxiety Inventory, Beck Depression Inventory(BDI) and Barratt Impulsiveness Scale-11 were applied to both of the groups.RESULTS In regard to 241 obese individuals included in the study, total score and score of attention subscale for BED(+) group were significantly high(P < 0.05). 8Tissue adhesive hemostatic microneedle arrays for rapid hemorrhage treatment显示文摘Blood loss by hemorrhaging wounds accounts for over one-third of~5 million trauma fatalities worldwide every year.If not controlled in a timely manner,exsanguination can take lives within a few minutes.Developing new biomaterials that are easy to use by non-expert patients and promote rapid blood coagulation is an unmet medical need.Here,biocompatible,and biodegradable microneedle arrays(MNAs)based on gelatin methacryloyl(GelMA)biomaterial hybridized with silicate nanoplatelets(SNs)are developed for hemorrhage control.The SNs render the MNAs hemostatic,while the needle-shaped structure increases the contact area with blood,synergistically accelerating the clotting time from 11.5 min to 1.3 min in vitro.The engineered MNAs reduce bleeding by~92%compared with the untreated injury group in a rat liver bleeding model.SN-containing MNAs outperform the hemostatic effect of needle-free patches and a commercial hemostat in vivo via combining micro-and nanoengineered features.Furthermore,the tissue adhesive properties and mechanical interlocking support the suitability of MNAs for wound closure applications.These hemostatic MNAs may enable rapid hemorrhage control,particularly for patients in developing countries or remote areas with limited or no immediate access to hospitals.Reihaneh Haghniaz Han-Jun Kim Hossein Montazerian Avijit Baidya Maryam Tavafoghi Yi Chen Yangzhi Zhu Solmaz Karamikamkar Amir Sheikhi Ali Khademhosseini 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,5:0
