| 2 | Noble metal-based high-entropy alloys as advanced electrocatalysts for energy conversion显示文摘Noble metal-based high-entropy alloy nanoparticles(NM-HEA NPs) have exhibited brilliant catalytic performance toward electrocatalytic energy conversion and attracted increasing attention. The near-equimolar mixed elements of NM-HEA NPs may result in the unique properties including cocktail effect, high entropy effect and lattice distortion effect, which are beneficial for improving the catalytic performance and reducing the amount of noble metal. Herein, several advanced NM-HEA NPs as electrocatalysts for energy conversion are systematically summarized. The preparation methods of NM-HEA NPs are evaluated as well as the catalytic properties and mechanism are discussed classified by electrocatalytic reactions. Finally,the challenges and prospects in this field are carefully discussed. | 3 | Randomized study comparing incidence of radial artery occlusion post-percutaneous coronary intervention between two conventional compression devices using a novel airinflation technique显示文摘AIM To compare post-percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) radial artery occlusion(RAO) incidence between two conventional radial artery compression devices using a novel air-inflation technique.METHODS One hundred consecutive patients post-PCI were randomized 1:1 to Safeguard or TR band compression devices. Post-radial sheath removal, each compression device was inflated with additional 2 m L of air above index bleeding point during air-filled device application and gradually down-titrated accordingly. RAO was defined as absence of Doppler flow signal performed at 24 h and at 6 wk post-PCI. Patients with missing data were excluded. Statistical significance was defined as P < 0.05.RESULTS All patients had 6 F radial sheath inserted. No significant differences were observed between Safeguard Radial(n = 42) vs TR band(n = 42) in terms of age(63 ± 11 years vs 67 ± 11 years), clinical presentation(electives, n = 18 vs n = 16; acute coronary syndrome, n = 24 vs n = 26) and total procedural heparin(7778 ± 2704 IU vs 7825 ± 2450 IU). RAO incidence was not significantly different between groups at 24 h(2% vs 0%, P = 0.32) and 6 wk(0%, both).CONCLUSION Safeguard Radial and TR band did not demonstrate significant between-group differences in short-term RAO incidence. Lack of evidence of RAO in all postPCI patients at 6 wk follow-up, regardless of radial compression device indicate advantage of using the novel and pragmatic air-inflation technique. | 4 | Efficient hepatoprotective activity of cranberry extract against CCl_4-induced hepatotoxicity in Wistar albino rat model: Down-regulation of liver enzymes and strong antioxidant activity显示文摘Objective: To investigate the hepatoprotective efficacy of cranberry extract(CBE)against carbon tetrachloride(CCl4)-induced hepatic injury using in-vivo animal model.Methods: The hepatoprotective efficacy of CBE(200 and 400 mg/kg) was investigated against CCl4(4 m L/kg)-induced hepatotoxicity, elevated liver enzymes [ALT(alanine aminotransferase), AST(aspartate aminotransferase), and alkaline phosphatase(ALP)],and total protein(TP) contents in the serum. Moreover, CBE-aided antioxidant defense against hepatotoxic insult of CCl4 was measured by evaluating a number of anti-oxidative biomarkers including reduced glutathione(GSH), superoxide dismutase(SOD), catalase(CAT), and malondialdehyde(MDA) in the serum by using spectrophotometric analyses.Results: Results showed that the exposure of experimental animals to CCl4 did induce significant hepatotoxicity compared to the non-induced(untreated) group. The oral administration of CBE demonstrated a significant dose-dependent alleviation in the liver enzymes(AST, ALT, and ALP), increased antioxidant defense(GSH, SOD, and CAT),and reduced MDA levels in the serum of treated animals compared to the animals without treatment. | 5 | Effect of intra-abdominal pressure on respiratory function in patients undergoing ventral hernia repair显示文摘AIM: To determine the influence of intra-abdominal pressure(IAP) on respiratory function after surgical repair of ventral hernia and to compare two different methods of IAP measurement during the perioperative period. METHODS: Thirty adult patients after elective repair of ventral hernia were enrolled into this prospective study.IAP monitoring was performed via both a balloontipped nasogastric probe [intragastric pressure(IGP), Ci MON, Pulsion Medical Systems, Munich, Germany] and a urinary catheter [intrabladder pressure(IBP), Uno Meter Abdo-Pressure Kit, Uno Medical, Denmark] on five consecutive stages:(1) after tracheal intubation(AI);(2) after ventral hernia repair;(3) at the end of surgery;(4) during spontaneous breathing trial through the endotracheal tube; and(5) at 1 h after tracheal extubation. The patients were in the complete supine position during all study stages.RESULTS: The IAP(measured via both techniques) increased on average by 12% during surgery compared to AI(P < 0.02) and by 43% during spontaneous breathing through the endotracheal tube(P < 0.01). In parallel, the gradient between РаСО2 and Et CO2 [Р(а-et)CO2] rose significantly, reaching a maximum during the spontaneous breathing trial. The PаO2/Fi O2 decreased by 30% one hour after tracheal extubation(P = 0.02). The dynamic compliance of respiratory system reduced intraoperatively by 15%-20%(P < 0.025). At all stages, we observed a significant correlation between IGP and IBP(r = 0.65-0.81, P < 0.01) with a mean bias varying from-0.19 mm Hg(2SD 7.25 mm Hg) to-1.06 mm Hg(2SD 8.04 mm Hg) depending on the study stage. Taking all paired measurements together(n = 133), the median IGP was 8.0(5.5-11.0) mm Hg and the median IBP was 8.8(5.8-13.1) mm Hg. The overall r2 value( n = 30) was 0.76(P < 0.0001). Bland and Altman analysis showed an overall bias for the mean values per patient of 0.6 mm Hg(2SD 4.2 mm Hg) with percentage error of 45.6%. Looking at changes in IAP between the different study stages, we found an excellent concordance coefficient of 94.9% comparing IBP and IGP( n = 117).CONCLUSION: During ventral hernia repair, the IAP rise is accompanied by changes in Р(а-et)CO2 and PаO2/Fi O2-ratio. On January 18,2011 at 20: 23 UT a great earthquake( M = 7. 2)occurred in Dalbandin( 28. 73° N,63. 92° E),Pakistan. In this study,we have tried to find out the features of pre-earthquake ionospheric anomalies by using the hourly day time( 08. 00 a. m.- 05. 00 p. m.) data of critical frequency( foF2) obtained by three vertical sounding stations installed in Islamabad( 33. 78°N,73. 06°E),Multan( 32. 26°N,71. 51°E) and Karachi( 24. 89° N,67. 02° E), Pakistan. The results show the significant anomalies of foF2 in the earthquake preparation zone several days prior to the Dalbandin earthquake. It is also observed that the amplitude and frequency of foF2 anomalies are more prominent at the nearest station to the epicenter as compared to those stations near the outer margin of the earthquake preparation zone. | 9 | Hand dysfunction after transradial artery catheterization for coronary procedures显示文摘AIM To sythesize the available literature on hand dysfunction after transradial catheterization.METHODS We searched MEDLINE and EMBASE. The search results were reviewed by two independent judicators for studies that met the inclusion criteria and relevant reviews. We included studies that evaluated any transradial procedure and evaluated hand function outcomes post transradial procedure. There were no restrictions based on sample size. There was no restriction on method of assessing hand function which included disability, nerve damage, motor or sensory loss. There was no restriction based on language of study. Data was extracted, these results were narratively synthesized.RESULTS Out of 555 total studies 13 studies were finally included in review. A total of 3815 participants with mean age of 62.5 years were included in this review. A variety of methods were used to assess sensory and motor dysfunction of hand. Out of 13 studies included, only 3 studies reported nerve damage with a combined incidence of 0.16%, 5 studies reported sensory loss, tingling and numbness with a pooled incidence of 1.52%. Pain after transradial access was the most common form of hand dysfunction(6.67%) reported in 3 studies. The incidence of hand dysfunction defined as disability, grip strength change, power loss or any other hand complication was incredibly low at 0.26%. Especially indiagnosing pathologic myopia (PM) lesions, the implementation of DL is adifficult task because of the classification complexity and definition system ofPM. However, it is possible to design an AI-based technique that can identifyPM automatically and help doctors make relevant decisions. To achieve thisobjective, it is important to have adequate resources such as a high-qualityPM image dataset and an expert team. The primary aim of this research isto design and train the DLs to automatically identify and classify PM intodifferent classes. In this article, we have developed a new class of DL models(SAN-FSL) for the segmentation and detection of PM through semanticadversarial networks (SAN) and few-short learning (FSL) methods, respectively.Compared to DL methods, the conventional segmentation methodsuse supervised learning models, so they (a) require a lot of data for trainingand (b) fixed weights are used after the completion of the training process.To solve such problems, the FSL technique was employed for model trainingwith few samples. The ability of FSL learning in UNet architectures is beingexplored, and to fine-tune the weights, a few new samples are being providedto the UNet. The outcomes show improvement in the detection area andclassification of PM stages. | 20 | Polymeric assembled nanoparticles through kinetic stabilization by confined impingement jets dilution mixer for fluorescence switching imaging显示文摘Traditional fluorescence switching molecules achieving the state change between on and off states commonly based on UV irradiation. However, it is worth noting that UV irradiation is harmful to both the cancer cells and the normal cells. To achieve fluorescence switching under visible wavelength and avoid complicate molecular design, a fluorophore of 2,4,5,6-tetrakis(carbazol-9-yl)-1,3-dicyanobenzene(4Cz IPN) and a quencher of diarylethene(DAE) were physically incorporated within the biocompatible block copolymer poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)-b-poly(ethylene glycol)(PLGA-b-PEG) to form 4Cz IPNDAE nanoparticles(NPs) through flash nanoprecipitation(FNP). By using the FNP method, the NPs were prepared within milliseconds in a confined impingement jets dilution(CIJ-D) mixer. Quenching and recovery of fluorescence could achieve in the presence of DAE under 475 nm and 560 nm irradiation.Appropriate structure and fluorescent properties of the nanoparticles can be tuned by external conditions for their efficient fluorescence resonance energy transfer(FRET) in a kinetic stabilization process. This NPs formation process was further optimized by varying the dilution ratio, Reynolds number(Re) and polymer concentration to modulate the mixing and particle nucleation and growth process. The size and fluorescence switching properties of the NPs were systematically investigated in solution and in cellular uptake experiments.
