1Morphological study on colonic pathology in ulcerative colitis treated by moxibustion显示文摘AIM To observe the therapeutic effect ofmoxibustion on ulcerative colitis and itsinfluence on the colonic mucosal morphology.METHODS Forty-six patients with ulcerativecolitis were randomly divided into themoxibustion with herbal medicine underneathgroup and the western medicine group.Thirtypatients were treated with the abovemoxibustion and 16 patients with Salicylayefapyridine(SASP).The colonic mucosa of 13patients in the moxibustion group was observedby colonoscopy before and after the treatment.Mucin was also analyzed by H.E and AB-PASstaining.RESULTS Seventeen patients were clinicallycured,12 were improved and 1 unchanged in themoxibustion group.In the control group,5patients were clinically cured,7 improved and 4unchanged.Thirteen patients with active UCwere taken as the subjects for histopathologicanalysis in this study.The colonic mucosallesions were remarkably improved and thecharacteristic of the mucin also changed.Inmost sections,the chronic inflammation ofmucosa was geatly ameliorated(P<0.01).Theinflammatory cell infiltratation much decreased and neutrophils,disapeared in most sections(P<0.001).The goblet cells significantlyincreased(P<0.001);crypt paracrypt abscessor mucosal ulceration was seen(P<0.001).CONCLUSION The rate of cure of ulcerative colitis by moxibustion with herbal medicine beneath is superior to that by SASP. 2Denitrification in tidal flat sediment, Yangtze estuary显示文摘Sediment denitrification rates at six Yangtze River estuary tidal flat locations (mudflats and salt marshes) were measured from July 2003 to October 2004. In winter and summer, spatial distribution of denitrification rates was not great in the Yangtze estuary, while in spring and autumn, denitrification rates had a great spatial distribution because of the human activity effect. The temporal change of de- nitrification rates was greater. They ranged from 0.2 to 36.4 μmolN·m?2·h?1, and were higher in the summertime. The annual average of sediment denitrification rate was 18.2±12.3 μmolN·m?2·h?1 in the middle tidal flat and 15.1±9.45 μmolN·m?2·h?1 in the low tidal flat in the Yangtze estuary. Data analysis indicated that the temperature was the primary factor controlling the process of denitrification (sig- nificant positive correlation, P < 0.01); at the same time, the content of sediment total nitrogen (TN) and the molar ratio of sediment carbon and nitrogen (C/N) had significant positive correlation (P < 0.05) and negative correlation (P < 0.05) with denitrification rates, respectively. 3Design and Technical Development of Wall-Climbing Robots:A Review显示文摘Once working at heights is dangerous,it is a significant accident.These accidents brought substantial economic losses and caused a large number of casualties.Therefore,it is essential to use wall-climbing robots to replace manual work at heights.The design of the wall-climbing robot is inspired by the climbing action of insects or animals.An intelligent bionic robot device can carry special equipment to operate on the wall and perform some dangerous operations instead of firefighters or inspection personnel more efficiently.The scope of application is vast.This paper firstly summarizes the research progress of wall-climbing robots with three different moving methods:wheel-climbing,crawler-based,and leg-footed robots;summarizes the applications and breakthroughs of four adsorption technologies:negative pressure,magnetic force,bionic and electrostatic;discusses the application of motion control algorithms in wall-climbing robots.Secondly,the advantages and disadvantages of different migration modes and adsorption methods are pointed out.The distribution and advantages of the combined application of different migration modes and adsorption methods are analyzed.In addition,the future development trend of wall-climbing robots and the promoting effect of bionic technology development on wall-climbing robots are proposed.The content of this paper will provide helpful guidance for the research of wall-climbing robots.Yi Fang Shuai Wang Qiushi Bi Da Cui Chuliang Yan 2022Journal of Bionic Engineering2022,19,4:5
4PCDH17 increases the sensitivity of colorectal cancer to 5-fluorouracil treatment by inducing apoptosis and autophagic cell death显示文摘5-Fluorouracil(5-FU)is known as a first-line chemotherapeutic agent against colorectal cancer(CRC),but drug resistance occurs frequently and significantly limits its clinical success.Our previous study showed that the protocadherin 17(PCDH17)gene was frequently methylated and functioned as a tumor suppressor in CRC.However,the relationship between PCDH17 and 5-FU resistance in CRC remains unclear.Here,we revealed that PCDH17 was more highly expressed in 5-FU-sensitive CRC tissues than in 5-FU-resistant CRC tissues,and high expression of PCDH17 was correlated with high BECN1 expression.Moreover,this expression profile contributed to superior prognosis and increased survival in CRC patients.Restoring PCDH17 expression augmented the 5-FU sensitivity of CRC in vitro and in vivo by promoting apoptosis and autophagic cell death.Furthermore,autophagy played a dominant role in PCDH17-induced cell death,as an autophagy inhibitor blocked cell death to a greater extent than the pancaspase inhibitor Z-VAD-FMK.PCDH17 inhibition by siRNA decreased the autophagy response and 5-FU sensitivity.Mechanistically,we showed that c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase(JNK)activation was a key determinant in PCDH17-induced autophagy.The compound SP600125,an inhibitor of JNK,suppressed autophagy and 5-FU-induced cell death in PCDH17-reexpressing CRC cells.Taken together,our findings suggest for the first time that PCDH17 increases the sensitivity of CRC to 5-FU treatment by inducing apoptosis and JNK-dependent autophagic cell death.PCDH17 may be a potential prognostic marker for predicting 5-FU sensitivity in CRC patients.Shuiping Liu Haoming Lin Da Wang Qiang Li Hong Luo Guoxiong Li Xiaohui Chen Yongqiang Li Peng Chen Bingtao Zhai Wengang Wang Ruonan Zhang Bi Chen Mingming Zhang Xuemeng Han Qiujie Li Liuxi Chen Ying Liu Xiaying Chen Guohua Li Yu Xiang Ting Duan Jiao Feng Jianshu Lou Xingxing Huang Qin Zhang Ting Pan Lili Yan Ting Jin Wenzheng Zhang Lvjia Zhuo Yitian Sun Tian Xie Xinbing Sui 2019Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2019,4,1:4

7Intranasal Immunization Using CTA1-DD as a Mucosal Adjuvant for an Inactivated Influenza Vaccine显示文摘Objective To evaluate the effect of intranasal immunization with CTA1-DD as mucosal adjuvant combined with H3N2 split vaccine. Methods Mice were immunized intranasally with PBS(negative control), or H3N2 split vaccine(3 μg/mouse) alone, or CTA1-DD(5 μg/mouse) alone, or H3N2 split vaccine(3 μg/mouse) plus CTA1-DD(5 μg/mouse). Positive control mice were immunized intramuscularly with H3N2 split vaccine(3 μg/mouse) and alum adjuvant. All the mice were immunized twice, two weeks apart. Then sera and mucosal lavages were collected. The specific HI titers, IgM, IgG, IgA, and IgG subtypes were examined by ELISA. IFN-γ and IL-4 were test by ELISpot. In addition, two weeks after the last immunization, surivival after H3N2 virus lethal challenge was measured. Results H3N2 split vaccine formulated with CTA1-DD could elicit higher Ig M, Ig G and hemagglutination inhibition titers in sera. Furthermore, using CTA1-DD as adjuvant significantly improved mucosal secretory Ig A titers in bronchoalveolar lavages and vaginal lavages. Meanwhile this mucosal adjuvant could enhance Th-1-type responses and induce protective hemagglutination inhibition titers. Notably, the addition of CTA1-DD to split vaccine provided 100% protection against lethal infection by the H3N2 virus.
