1Difficult polypectomy-giant hypopharyngeal polyp: Case report and literature review显示文摘Giant esophageal and hypopharyngeal polyps are benign tumors rarely encountered in clinical practice.In most cases,they are completely asymptomatic;however,despite the rarity of these tumors,interest in giant esophageal polyps derives from their degree of growth(characterized by slow growth into the esophageal lumen)and their mobility.In fact,if regurgitation occurs,they can ascend into the oral cavity and be aspirated into the airways,with potentially lethal consequences.The removal of these giant polyps is recommended.An adequate preoperative evaluation to identify the correct origin of the stalk is mandatory for a successful endoscopic or surgical treatment.A 60-year-old man was admitted to our hospital for anemia.The patient underwent gastroscopy,contrast computed tomography and endoscopic ultrasound.At the conclusion of the procedure,during the extraction of the echoendoscope,the patient began retching and regurgitated the polyp,without experiencing respiratory distress.The patient underwent a left cervicotomy and polyp dissection via a pharyngotomy.Giovanni Pallabazzer Stefano Santi Solito Biagio Simone D'Imporzano 2013World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,35:3
2Cardiac damage in athlete's heart: When the “supernormal” heart fails!显示文摘Intense exercise may cause heart remodeling to compensate increases in blood pressure or volume by increasing muscle mass. Cardiac changes do not involve only the left ventricle, but all heart chambers. Physiological cardiac modeling in athletes is associated with normal or enhanced cardiac function, but recent studies have documented decrements in left ventricular function during intense exercise and the release of cardiac markers of necrosis in athlete's blood of uncertain significance. Furthermore, cardiac remodeling may predispose athletes to heart disease and result in electrical remodeling, responsible for arrhythmias. Athlete's heart is a physiological condition and does not require a specific treatment. In some conditions, it is important to differentiate the physiological adaptations from pathological conditions, such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, arrhythmogenic dysplasia of the right ventricle, and non-compaction myocardium, for the greater risk of sudden cardiac death of these conditions. 3Incremental value of thoracic ultrasound in intensive care units:Indications,uses,and applications显示文摘Emergency physicians are required to care for unstable patients with life-threatening conditions, and thus must make decisions that are both quick and precise about unclear clinical situations. There is increasing consensus in favor of using ultrasound as a real-time bedside clinical tool for clinicians in emergency settings alongside the irreplaceable use of historical and physical examinations. B-mode sonography is an old technology that was first proposed for medical applications more than 50 years ago. Its application in the diagnosis of thoracic diseases has always been considered limited, due to the presence of air in the lung and the presence of the bones of the thoracic cage, which prevent the progression of the ultrasound beam. However, the close relationship between air and water in the lungs causes a variety of artifacts on ultrasounds. At the bedside, thoracic ultrasound is based primarily on the analysis of these artifacts, with the aim of improving accuracy and safety in the diagnosis and therapy of the various varieties of pulmonary pathologic diseases which are predominantly 'water-rich' or 'air-rich'. 9Role of biomechanical assessment in rotator cuff tear repair: Arthroscopic vs mini-open approach显示文摘BACKGROUND Rotator cuff(RC)tears are one of the most frequent pathologies within the shoulder girdle.Hand dominance and older age are associated with RC tears.Two different surgical procedures,the mini-open(MO)and all-arthroscopic(AA)approach,represented the standard of treatment.AIM To compare the clinical and biomechanical outcomes of two surgical techniques(AA vs MO procedure)performed to address the painful shoulder syndrome with partial or total supraspinatus tendon tear.METHODS Eighty-eight participants,50 following RC repair with AA and 38 with MO approach,were recruited in the present cross-sectional case-control study(ORTHO-SHOULDER,Prot.0054602).All patients underwent postoperative clinical evaluation for pain(Visual analogic scale),impairment,and disability(disability of the arm,shoulder,and hand)and limitation in daily activity(Constant-Murley score).Patients’shoulder mobility was also assessed in our Laboratory of Functional Movement through a wearable inertial sensor and surface electromyography to monitor kinematics and muscle activity during the movement on the frontal(abduction/adduction)and sagittal(flexion-extension)planes.RESULTS No statistically significant differences between the two procedures were observed in either main clinical score or range of motion.A significant increase in velocity during the movement execution and a higher contribution of upper trapezius muscles were found in the AA group compared with MO patients.CONCLUSION In terms of clinical scores,our findings were in line with previous results.However,the use of technology-based assessment of shoulder mobility has revealed significant differences between the two techniques in terms of mean velocity and pattern of muscle activation.Giuseppe Solarino Ilaria Bortone Giovanni Vicenti Davide Bizzoca Michele Coviello Giuseppe Maccagnano Biagio Moretti Fabio D'Angelo 2021World Journal of Orthopedics2021,12,12:1

17利用虾壳去除鞣制废水中的三价铬显示文摘报道了实验室规模利用未经改性的虾壳做为吸附材料去除鞣制废水中的三价铬。实验发现对铬的去除率超过90%,证明该材料有能力去除三价铬。其对铬的吸附过程可以用Brauner-Emmett-Telller吸附等温线很好地描述,表明虾壳材料同时存在强、弱两种吸附位点。动力学实验表明吸附过程在最初的2 h内迅速完成,之后形成一个平台,可以用拟二级方程很好地模拟。论文还分析比较了虾壳与其他经常用于脱铬的化学品的效果差异,结合扫描电子显微镜形貌分析结果,表明虾壳的处理效率与碳酸氢钠和氢氧化钠的处理效率相当,但是去除机理不同,铬在虾壳多糖基质上的吸附占主导,少部分是铬盐的沉淀。用回收的三价铬直接鞣制的皮革性能差,而将吸附产生的铬泥调节p H值后作为鞣剂,能够获得令人满意的鞣制效果。Massimiliano Fabbricino Biagio Naviglio Gelsomina Tortora Luca d'Antonio 尹中龙 2014西部皮革2014,36,23:0
