1Risk factor for ischemic-type biliary lesion after ABO-incompatible living donor liver transplantation显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the risk factors for ischemic-type biliary lesion(ITBL) after ABO-incompatible(ABO-I) adult living donor liver transplantation(ALDLT).METHODS: Among 141 ALDLTs performed in our hospital between 2008 and 2014, 27(19%) were ABO-I ALDLT and 114 were ABO-identical/compatible ALDLT. In this study, we extensively analyzed the clinico-pathological data of the 27 ABO-I recipients to determine the risk factors for ITBL after ABO-I ALDLT. All ABO-I ALDLT recipients underwent an identical B-cell depletion protocol with preoperative rituximab, plasma exchange(PE), and operative splenectomy. The median follow-up period after transplantation was 26 mo. The clinical outcomes of the 27 ABO-I ALDLT recipients were compared with those of 114 ABO-identical/compatible ALDLT recipients.RESULTS: ITBL occurred in four recipients(14.8%) between 45 and 112 d after ABO-I ALDLT. The overall survival rates were not different between ABO-I ALDLT and ABO-identical/compatible ALDLT(P = 0.303). Among the ABO-I ALDLT recipients, there was no difference between patients with ITBL and those without ITBL in terms of B-cell and T-cell count, serum isoagglutinin titers, number of PEs, operative time and transfusion, use of graft infusion therapy, or number of remnant B-cell follicles and plasma cells in the spleen. However, the perioperative NK cell counts in the blood of patients with ITBL were significantly higher than those in the patients without ITBL(P < 0.05). Preoperative NK cell count > 150/μL and postoperative NK cell count > 120/μL were associated with greater relative risks(RR) for development of ITBL(RR = 20 and 14.3, respectively, P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: High NK cell counts in a transplant recipient's blood are associated with ITBL after ABO-I ALDLT. 2Simultaneous enhancement of coercivity and electric resistivity of Nd-Fe-B magnets by Pr-Tb-Al-Cu synergistic grain boundary diffusion toward high-temperature motor rotors显示文摘To high-power permanent magnetic motors,it is critical for Nd-Fe-B magnets to maintain the desirable coercivity at high-temperature operating conditions.To address this,two approaches have been proven effective:(1)enhancing the room temperature coercivity;(2)reducing the eddy current loss.However,these two items are difficult to be simultaneously achieved.Here,the grain boundary diffusion(GBD)of the Pr-Tb-Al-Cu-based source is applied to enhance the coercivity and electric resistivity at room temperature from 1101 kA m-1 and 2.13×10–6Ωm to 1917 kA m-1 and 2.60×10–6Ωm,and those at 120°C from 384 kA m-1 and 4.31×10–6Ωm to 783 kA m-1 and 4.86×10–6Ωm,respectively.Such optimization is ascribed to the improved formation depth of Tb-rich 2:14:1 shells with large magnetocrystalline anisotropy and the increased intergranular Pr-based oxides with high electric resistivity,induced by the coordination effects of Tb and Pr,as proven by the atomic-scale observations and the first principles calculations.It thus results in the simultaneously improved output power and energy efficiency of the motor because of the combination of magnetic thermal stability enhancement and eddy current loss reduction,as theoretically confirmed by electromagnetic simulation.Jiayi He Jinwen Hu Bang Zhou Haoyang Jia Xiaolian Liu Zhenhua Zhang Lin Wen Lizhong Zhao Hongya Yu Xichun Zhong Xuefeng Zhang Zhongwu Liu 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,23:1

11Model calculating annual mean atmospheric dispersion factor for coastal site of nuclear power plant显示文摘This paper describes an atmospheric dispersion field experiment performed on the coastal site of nuclear power plant in the east part of China during 1995 to 1996 The three dimension joint frequency are obtained by hourly observation of wind and temperature on a 100m high tower; the frequency of the “event day of land and sea breezes” are given by observation of surface wind and land and sea breezes; the diffusion parameters are got from measurements of turbulent and wind tunnel simulation test. A new model calculating the annual mean atmospheric dispersion factor for coastal site of nuclear power plant is developed and established. This model considers not only the effect from mixing release and mixed layer but also the effect from the internal boundary layer and variation of diffusion parameters due to the distance from coast. 14Unveiling mitophagy-mediated molecular heterogeneity and development of a risk signature model for colorectal cancer by integrated scRNA-seq and bulk RNA-seq analysis显示文摘Background:Accumulating researchers have recognized mitophagy as a key player in tumors,but few studies have investigated its role in the tumor microenvironment(TME).Advances in the technology of single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq)have allowed unveiling the concealed features of the TME at cellular resolution.This study aimed to elucidate the role of mitophagy within the TME of colorectal cancer(CRC)and to establish a mitophagy-mediated risk model.Methods:We assessed mitophagy-related pathway activities at both single-cell and tissue levels.Subsequently,an unsupervised clustering algorithm was employed to identify mitophagy-mediated subtypes.Furthermore,we developed a mitophagy-mediated risk signature(MMRS)using least absolute shrinkage and selection operator(LASSO)Cox analysis and constructed a MMRS model incorporating the risk score and clinical variables.Subsequently,we used quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction analysis to verify the expression of the screened genes.Results:We retrieved and annotated a total of 14,719 cells from eight samples in the scRNA-seq GSE132465 data set.The activities of mitophagy-related pathways were uniformly upregulated in cancer cells.Integrating with bulk RNA-seq data,we identified two mitophagy-mediated clusters(C1 and C2)with distinct characteristics and prognoses.C2 was identified as a mitophagy-high cluster.Then,we developed a five-gene MMRS via LASSO Cox analysis in The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)cohort.We utilized the GSE39582 cohort to validate the efficacy of our model.The expression of CX3CL1 and INHBB was upregulated in CRC tissues.Conclusions:The present study identified two mitophagy-mediated CRC subtypes with distinct features.Our MMRS may provide potential therapeutic strategies for CRC.The findings of our work offer novel insights into the involvement of mitophagy in CRC.Han Gao Qi Zou Linyun Ma Keyu Cai Yi Sun Li Lu Donglin Ren Bang Hu 2023Gastroenterology Report2023,11,1:0

16External rectal prolapse:abdominal or perineal repair for men?A retrospective cohort study显示文摘Background:External rectal prolapse is a relatively rare disease,in which male patients account for a minority.The selection of abdominal repair or perineal repair for male patients has rarely been investigated.Methods:Fifty-one male patients receiving abdominal repair(laparoscopic ventral rectopexy)or perineal repair(Delorme or Altemeier procedures)at the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University(Guangzhou,China)between March 2013 and September 2019 were retrospectively analysed.We compared the recurrence,complication rate,post-operative defecation disorder,length of stay,and quality of life between the abdominal and perineal groups.Results:Of the 51 patients,45 had a complete follow-up,with a median of 48.5 months(range,22.8–101.8 months).A total of 35 patients were under age 40 years.The complication rate associated with abdominal repair was less than that associated with perineal repair(0%vs 20.7%,P=0.031)and the recurrence rate was also lower(9.5%vs 41.7%,P=0.018).Multivariate analysis showed that perineal repair(odds ratio,9.827;95%confidence interval,1.296–74.50;P=0.027)might be a risk factor for recurrence.Moreover,only perineal repair significantly improved post-operative constipation status(preoperative vs post-operative,72.4%vs 25.0%,P=0.001).There was no reported mortality in either of the groups.No patient’s sexual function was affected by the surgery.Conclusions:Both surgical approaches were safe in men.Compared with perineal repair,the complication rate and recurrence rate for abdominal repair were lower.However,perineal repair was better able to correct constipation.Bang Hu Qi Zou Zhenyu Xian Dan Su Chao Liu Li Lu Minyi Luo Zixu Chen Keyu Cai Han Gao Hui Peng Wuteng Cao Donglin Ren 2022Gastroenterology Report2022,10,1:0
17MIC17A is a novel diagnostic marker for feline toxoplasmosis显示文摘Toxoplasma gondii is a widespread parasitic pathogen that infect humans and all warm-blooded animals,causing abortion and stillbirth in pregnant women and animals,as well as life threatening toxoplasmosis in immune compromised individuals.Felines are the only defnitive hosts of Toxoplasma and oocysts shed by infected felines are the major source of infection for humans and other animals.Given the critical role of felines for T.gondii transmission,control of feline toxoplasmosis has signifcant impacts on reducing the overall prevalence of animal and human toxoplasmosis.However,reliable diagnosis of feline toxoplasmosis is still challenging.In this study,we found that the putative micronemal protein 17A(MIC17A)that was abundantly expressed in Toxoplasma merozoites is a good diagnostic marker for serological diagnosis of Toxoplasma infection in felines.T.gondii encodes four paralogs of MIC17A in total and the expression of three of them is drastically upregulated in merozoites than in tachyzoites.In contrast,when proteins like GRA1 and MIC3 that are more abundantly expressed in tachyzoites than in merozoites were used as diagnostic antigens to test feline toxoplasmosis,they reacted with Toxoplasma specifc IgG antibodies poorly.Taken together,these results suggest that merozoite antigens are better suited for the diagnosis of feline toxoplasmosis than antigens that are highly expressed at tachyzoite or bradyzoite stages.Jinling Chen Lilan Xue Hongxia Hu Xiaoyan Yin Hui Cao Bang Shen 2022Animal Diseases2022,2,4:0
18Comparison of laboratory parameters,clinical symptoms and clinical outcomes of COVID-19 and influenza in pediatric patients:A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘BACKGROUND New and more severe clinical manifestations associated with the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) are emerging constantly in the pediatric age group.Patients in this age group are also primary carriers of the influenza virus and are at a higher risk of developing severe infection.However,studies comparing influenza and COVID-19 to show which condition causes a more severe form of disease amongst the pediatric age group are scarce.AIM To compare the laboratory results,clinical symptoms and clinical outcomes in pediatric patients with COVID-19 and influenza.METHODS A systematic and comprehensive search was carried out in databases and search engines,including EMBASE,Cochrane,MEDLINE,ScienceDirect and Google Scholar from 1964 until January 2022.A meta-analysis was carried out using a random-effects model and pooled odds ratio(OR) or standardized mean difference(SMD) and 95%CI.RESULTS A total of 16 studies satisfied the inclusion criteria.Pediatric COVID-19 patients had a significantly reduced risk of cough(pooled OR = 0.16;95%CI:0.09 to 0.27),fever(pooled OR = 0.23;95%CI:0.12 to 0.43),and dyspnea(pooled OR = 0.54;95%CI:0.33 to 0.88) compared to influenza patients.Furthermore,total hemoglobin levels(pooled SMD = 1.22;95%CI:0.29 to 2.14) in COVID-19 patients were significantly higher as compared to pediatric influenza patients.There was no significant difference in symptoms such as sore throat,white blood cell count,platelets,neutrophil and lymphocytes levels,and outcomes like mortality,intensive care unit admission,mechanical ventilation or length of hospital stay.CONCLUSION COVID-19 is associated with a significantly lower rate of clinical symptoms and abnormal laboratory indexes compared to influenza in the pediatric age group.However,further longitudinal studies of the outcomes between influenza and COVID-19 pediatric patients are needed.Bang Yu Hai-Hua Chen Xiao-Fei Hu Rui-Zhi Mai Hai-Yan He 2022World Journal of Clinical Cases2022,10,29:0
