142,573 cases of hepatectomy in China: a multicenter retrospective investigation显示文摘Hepatectomy is currently routinely performed in most hospitals in China. China owns the largest population of liver diseases and the biggest number of liver resection cases. A nationwide multicenter retrospective investigation involving 112 hospitals was performed, and focused on liver resection for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). 42,573 cases of hepatectomy were enrolled, and 18,275 valid cases of liver resection for HCC patients were selected for statistical analysis. The epidemiology of HCC, distribution of hepatectomy, postoperative complications and prognosis were finally analyzed. In the 18,275 HCC patients,81% had hepatitis B virus infection and 10% had hepatitis C virus infection. 38% of the HCC patients had normal Alphafetoprotein(AFP) level, and other 35% had an AFP level lower than 400 ng mL^(-1). In the study period, 97% of the hepatectomy for HCC were treated with open surgery, and 23.81% had vascular exclusion techniques. The operation time was(191.7±105.6) min,the blood loss was(546.0±562.8) m L, and blood transfusion was(543.0±1,035.2) m L. The median survival for HCC patients was 631 days, with 1-, 3-, and 5-year overall survival of 73.2%, 28.8% and 19.6%, respectively. 2Extracting mineral alteration information using WorldView-3 data显示文摘The multispectral commercial satellite-WorldView-3(WV-3) has the highest spatial, spectral and radiation resolutions among the satellites currently and can generate good data in the shortwave infrared(SWIR). The study area is located in the Pobei area of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, which is rich in mineral resources. The spectral analyses of some typical altered hydroxy-bearing, iron-bearing, and carbonate-bearing minerals could establish several Principal Component Analysis(PCA) models and mineral indices, using the visible and near infrared(VNIR) and the shortwave infrared(SWIR) subsystems of WV-3 data. In addition, the Spectral Angle Method and the spectrum index tool of ENVI software were used to extract the relevant alteration information. The WV-3 data is well suited for identifying hydroxy-bearing alteration with rich SWIR bands which distinguish Al-OH-bearing from MgOH-bearing alteration. 3Ginsenoside Rd inhibits apoptosis following spinal cord ischemia/reperfusion injury显示文摘Ginsenoside Rd has a clear neuroprotective effect against ischemic stroke. We aimed to verify the neuroprotective effect of ginsenoside Rd in spinal cord ischemia/reperfusion injury and explore its anti-apoptotic mechanisms. We established a spinal cord ischemia/reperfusion injury model in rats through the occlusion of the abdominal aorta below the level of the renal artery for 1 hour. Successfully established models were injected intraperitoneally with 6.25, 12.5, 25 or 50 mg/kg per day ginsenoside Rd. Spinal cord morphology was observed at 1, 3, 5 and 7 days after spinal cord ischemia/reperfusion injury. Intraperitoneal injection of ginsenoside Rd in ischemia/reperfusion injury rats not only improved hindlimb motor function and the morphology of motor neurons in the anterior horn of the spinal cord, but it also reduced neuronal apoptosis. The optimal dose of ginsenoside Rd was 25 mg/kg per day and the optimal time point was 5 days after ischemia/reperfusion. Immunohistochemistry and western blot analysis showed ginsenoside Rd dose-dependently inhibited expression of pro-apoptotic Caspase 3 and down-regulated the expression of the apoptotic proteins ASK1 and JNK in the spinal cord of rats with spinal cord ischemia/reperfusion injury. 4Decontamination of heavy metal complexes by advanced oxidation processes:A review显示文摘Heavy metal complexes with high mobility are widely distributed in wastewater from modern industries,which are mo re stable and refracto ry than free heavy metal ions.Their re movals from wastewater draw increasing attentions and various technologies have been developed,among which advanced oxidation processes(AOPs)are more effectively and promising.Progresses on five representative types of AOPs,including Fenton(like)oxidation,electrochemical oxidation,photocatalytic oxidation,ozonation and discharge plasma oxidation for heavy metal complexe s degradation are summarized in this review.Their rationales,advantages,applications,challenges and prospects are introduced independently.Combinations among these AOPs,such as electrochemical Fenton oxidation and photoelectrocatalytic oxidation,are also comprehensively highlighted.Future efforts should be made to reduce acid requirement and scale up for practical applications of AOPs for heavy metal complex degradation efficiently and cost-effectively.Junqun Du Baogang Zhang Jiaxin Li Bo Lai 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,10:10
5A theoretical investigation of the tropical Indo-Pacific tripole mode显示文摘The El Ni o-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)phenomenon in the tropical Pacific has been a focus of ocean and climate studies in the last few decades.Recently,the short-term climate variability in the tropical Indian Ocean has attracted increasingly more attention,especially with the proposition of the Indian Ocean Dipole(IOD)mode.However,these phenomena are often studied separately without much consideration of their interaction.Observations reveal a striking out-of-phase relationship between zonal gradients of sea surface height anomaly(SSHA)and sea surface temperature anomaly(SSTA)in the tropical Indian and Pacific Oceans.Since the two oceans share the ascending branch of the Walker cells over the warm pool,the variation within one of them will affect the other.The accompanied zonal surface wind anomalies are always opposite over the two basins,thus producing a tripole structure with opposite zonal gradients of SSHA/SSTA in the two oceans.This mode of variability has been referred to as Indo-Pacific Tripole(IPT).Based on observational data analyses and a simple ocean-atmosphere coupled model,this study tries to identify the characteristics and physical mechanism of IPT with a particular emphasis on the relationships among ENSO,IOD,and IPT.The model includes the basic oceanic and atmospheric variables and the feedbacks between them,and takes into account the inter-basin connection through an atmospheric bridge,thus providing a valuable framework for further research on the short-term tropical climate variability.LIAN Tao CHEN DaKe TANG YouMin JIN BaoGang 2014Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,1:7

7Temperature and velocity dependent friction of a microscale graphite-DLC heterostructure显示文摘One of the promising approaches to achieving large scale superlubricity is the use of junctions between existing ultra-flat surface together with superlubric graphite mesas.Here we studied the frictional properties of microscale graphite mesa sliding on the diamond-like carbon,a commercially available material with a ultra-flat surface.The interface is composed of a single crystalline graphene and a diamond-like carbon surface with roughness less than I nm.Using an integrated approach,which includes Argon plasma irradiation of diamond-like carbon surfaces,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis and Langmuir adsorption modeling,we found that while the velocity dependence of friction follows a thermally activated sliding mechanism,its temperature dependence is due to the desorption of chemical groups upon heating.These observations indicate that the edges have a significant contribution to the friction.Our results highlight potential factors affecting this type of emerging friction junctions and provide a novel approach for tuning their friction properties through ion irradiation.Yujie GONGYANG Wengen OUYANG Cangyu QU Michael URBAKH Baogang QUAN Ming MA Quanshui ZHENG 2020Friction2020,8,2:5
8Accelerated Landweber iteration based control allocation for fault tolerant control of reusable launch vehicle显示文摘This paper presents a novel Fault Tolerant Control(FTC)scheme based on accelerated Landweber iteration and redistribution mechanism for a horizontal takeoff horizontal landing reusable launch vehicle(RLV).First,an adaptive law based on fixed-time non-singular fast terminal sliding mode control(NFTSMC),which focuses on the attitude tracking controller design for RLV in the presence of model couplings,parameter uncertainties and external disturbances,is proposed to produce virtual control command.On this basis,a novel Control Allocation(CA)based on accelerated Landwber iteration is presented to realize proportional allocation of virtual control command among the actuators according to the effective gain as well as the distance from the current position of actuator to corresponding saturation limit.Meanwhile a novel redistribution mechanism is introduced to redistribute oversaturated command among healthy actuators(non-faulty or redundant).The proposed method can be applied to a real-time FTC system so that the controller reconfiguring is not required in case of actuator faults.Finally,the effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by numerical simulations.Changzhu WEI Mingze WANG Baogang LU Jialun PU 2022Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2022,35,2:4
9Leveraging the UAV to support Chinese Antarctic expeditions:a new perspective显示文摘Recent developments in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs)and their applications in various subjects are of interest to polar communities.Due to the harsh climate and dangerous environment,these regions pose challenges for the expedition teams.Several countries have tested the UAV technology to support Antarctic research and logistics.In this trend paper,we provide insightful reviews and discussions on such a prospective topic.Based on a comprehensive literature survey,we firstly summarize the key research progress of UAV in Antarctic studies.Then the examples of risk scenarios during the field exploration are given,after which several promising applications of the UAVs in safety guarantee are illustrated.In particular,we present a case of site-selection for the Chinese first ice sheet airfield,using the data collected in the 34th Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition(CHINARE).In the end,we highlight the unique value of the UAVs in the popularization of polar science before concluding the advantages and limitations.Considering their excellent performance,we expect more innovations for UAV’s applications in the following Antarctic expeditions.LI Teng ZHANG Baogang CHENG Xiao HUI Fengming LI Yuansheng 2021Advances in Polar Science2021,32,1:4

11Polarization multiplexing for double images display显示文摘Metasurface provides subwavelength structures for manipulating wavefronts of light. The benefits of subwavelength components offer a continuous modulation of amplitude, phase, and polarization, thus eliminating the production of higher-order images and improving the utilization of light intensity. Despite the rapid progress in this field, multiparameter control of light using single layer metasurface is rarely reported. In fact, multiparameter control of light helps to improve information storage capacity and image fidelity. With simultaneous manipulation of polarization and amplitude at each pixel, it is possible to encode two separate images into one metasurface and reconstruct them under proper conditions. In a proof of concept experiment, we demonstrate an independent display of two binary images at the same position with polarization de-multiplexing from a single metasurface. 12A Novel Approach to Text Detection and Extraction from Videos by Discriminative Features and Density显示文摘Text is very important to video retrieval,index, and understanding. However, its detection and extraction is challenging due to varying background, low contrast between text and non-text regions, and perspective distortion. In this paper, we propose a novel two phase approach to tackling this problem by discriminative features and edge density. The first phase firstly defines and extracts a novel feature called edge distribution entropy and then uses this feature to remove most non-text regions. The second phase employs a Support vector machine(SVM) to further distinguish real text regions from nontext ones. To generate inputs for SVM, additional three novel features are defined and extracted from each region:a foreground pixel distribution entropy, skeleton/size ratio, and edge density. After text regions have been detected, texts are extracted from such regions that are surrounded by sufficient edge pixels. 14Histopathological and imageological studies on clinical outcomes of mineralized collagen reconstruction rod for femoral head necrosis with one case report显示文摘In this article,the biodegradation process and bone formation of a mineralized collagen reconstruction rod embedding in necrosis of human femoral head were investigated by imageological and histological methods.Computed radiography(CR)computerized tomography(CT),common pathological section and hard tissue section analysis were used to evaluated the dynamics of imageological and histopathological changes of femoral head,interface between the host bone and implant and the bone reconstruction process.The results showed that the density of rods increased closed to that of host bones after 1 year implanting,and the interface between them turns to blurring.Hard tissue grinding sections analysis showed osteocytes appearing in sparse bone trabecular and bone pit region,as well as a few vessels in the degraded dye powder matrix were noticed,indicating the new bone forming between the implants and host bones.Regular decalcified sections analysis showed scattered osteoclasts,multinucleated giant cells and fibrosis components existing in the degraded rod and the host bone trabecular.Degraded debris was endocytosed by giant cells,and vascular network formed around the boundaries of the implanted rod.The good osteointegration has been expressed by the interface between the implanted rod and the host bone becoming blurred.Histological results indicated that the implanted rod degradation process and new bones regeneration simultaneously occurred around the boundaries of embedding rod.New bone and host bone were hinged and co-existed.Baogang Xie Hao Wang Jianhua Hao Ping Wang Na Zhang Jingjing Wu Zhiye Qiu Fuzhai Cui 2017Regenerative Biomaterials2017,4,4:2
15Black phosphorus quantum dots: A new-type of water-based high-efficiency lubricant additive显示文摘Black phosphorus quantum dots(BPQDs),obtained via a typical solution-based top-down method,were used as water-based lubricant additives.BPQDs exhibited remarkable friction reduction and anti-wear properties even at the ultra-low concentration of 0.005 wt%,which reduced the friction coefficient and wear volume of the base liquid by 32.3%and 56.4%,respectively.In addition,the load-supporting capacity of the base liquid increased from 120 N to over 300 N.BPQDs-based additives exhibited a relatively long lifetime at a relatively high load of 80 N.The performance of BPQDs considerably exceeded that of the BP;this may be attributed to their small and uniform particle size,good dispersion stability in water,and high reactivity at the frictional surfaces.The results of the surface wear resistance analysis demonstrated that a robust tribochemical film with a thickness of approximately 90 nm was formed on the rubbing surface lubricated with 0.005 wt%of BPQDs dispersion.Moreover,the film served as a direct evidence of the excellent tribological performance of BPQDs.Weiwei TANG Zhiqiang JIANG Baogang WANG Yufeng LI 2021Friction2021,9,6:2
16Woodchip-sulfur packed biological permeable reactive barrier for mixotrophic vanadium(V)detoxification in groundwater显示文摘Groundwater vanadium(V)(V(V))contamination is ubiquitous in vanadium mining/smelting region and development of novel strategy for its remediation is of particular significance.Herein woodchip-sulfur packed biological permeable reactive barrier(bio-PRB)is established towards successful V(V)bio-detoxification.V(V)removal was accelerated under such mixotrophic condition,compared with heterotrophic and autotrophic V(V)reductions.The performance of bio-PRB was relatively steady with V(V)removal efficiency of 68.5%–98.2%under fluctuant geochemical and hydrodynamic conditions.Microbial community analysis indicated that heterotrophic Geobacter was the main reducer to convert V(V)to insoluble V(IV),by consumption of organic source attributed to woodchip hydrolysis and sulfur anabolism of autotrophs(e.g.,Sulfuricurvum and Thiobacillus).V(V)reduction and elemental sulfur oxidation were regulated by genes as omcA,omcB and mtrC and soxB,respectively.The elevated contents of cytochrome c and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide implied that improved electron transfer facilitated V(V)reduction.This study provides a cost-effective,robust and sustainable route for V(V)-polluted aquifer remediation.LI JiaLin ZHANG BaoGang 2020Science China(Technological Sciences)2020,63,11:2
17An SDP randomized approximation algorithm for max hypergraph cut with limited unbalance显示文摘We consider the design of semidefinite programming(SDP) based approximation algorithm for the problem Max Hypergraph Cut with Limited Unbalance(MHC-LU): Find a partition of the vertices of a weighted hypergraph H =(V, E) into two subsets V1, V2 with ‖V2|- |V1‖ u for some given u and maximizing the total weight of the edges meeting both V1 and V2. The problem MHC-LU generalizes several other combinatorial optimization problems including Max Cut, Max Cut with Limited Unbalance(MC-LU), Max Set Splitting,Max Ek-Set Splitting and Max Hypergraph Bisection. By generalizing several earlier ideas, we present an SDP randomized approximation algorithm for MHC-LU with guaranteed worst-case performance ratios for various unbalance parameters τ = u/|V|. We also give the worst-case performance ratio of the SDP-algorithm for approximating MHC-LU regardless of the value of τ. Our strengthened SDP relaxation and rounding method improve a result of Ageev and Sviridenko(2000) on Max Hypergraph Bisection(MHC-LU with u = 0), and results of Andersson and Engebretsen(1999), Gaur and Krishnamurti(2001) and Zhang et al.(2004) on Max Set Splitting(MHC-LU with u = |V|). 20IRS-Aided SWIPT Systems with Power Splitting and Artificial Noise显示文摘Intelligent reflecting surface(IRS) is regarded as a promising technology because it can achieve higher passive beamforming gain. In particular, the IRS assisted simultaneous wireless information and power transfer(SWIPT) system can make the information decoding receivers(IDRs) have a higher signal-to-noise ratio(SNR), and the energy harvesting receivers(EHRs) have the guarantee of minimum harvested energy threshold. Motivated by the above,in this paper, we use the power splitting(PS) at the user and introduce artificial noise(AN) into the access point(AP), so that the user in system can harvest energy and decode information simultaneously,further improve the security of user. We jointly optimize the beamforming matrix at AP, the reflection phase shift at IRS and the PS ratio, in order to maximize the user’s achievable secrecy rate, subject to the user’s minimum harvested energy threshold and AP’s transmission power. Due to the introduction of PS ratio, the coupling between variables is increased,and the complexity of the problem is significantly increased. Furthermore, the problem is non-convex, so we propose an efficient algorithm based on Taylor Formula, semi-definite relaxation(SDR) and alternating optimization(AO) to get the solution.
