3Colossal structural distortion and interlayer-coupling suppression in a van der Waals crystal induced by atomic vacancies显示文摘The interlayer coupling in van der Waals(vdW)crystals has substantial effects on the performance of materials.However,an indepth understanding of the microscopic mechanism on the defect-modulated interlayer coupling is often elusive,owing partly to the challenge of atomic-scale characterization.Here we report the native Se-vacancies in a charge-density-wave metal 2HNbSe2,as well as their influence on the local atomic configurations and interlayer coupling.Our low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy(STM)measurements,complemented by density functional theory calculations,indicate that the Sevacancies in few-layer NbSe2 can generate obvious atomic distortions due to the Jahn-Teller effect,thus breaking the rotational symmetry on the nanoscale.Moreover,these vacancies can locally generate an in-gap state in single-layer NbSe2,and more importantly,lead to a colossal suppression of interlayer coupling in the bilayer system.Our results provide clear structural and electronic fingerprints around the vacancies in vdW crystals,paving the way for developing functional vdW devices.Liangguang Jia Fei Gao Yu Zhang Yaoyao Chen Baofei Hou Zeping Huang Quanzhen Zhang Xu Wu Liwei Liu Shiwu Gao Mads Brandbyge Hong-Jun Gao Yeliang Wang 2023Nano Research2023,16,4:0
4Atomic tracking of thermally-driven structural evolution in 2D crystals:Case of NbSe_(2)显示文摘Advanced atomic tracking techniques play a critical role in characterizing structural evolution,elucidating fundamental mechanisms of exotic phenomena and tailoring delicate properties.Thermally driven structural modulation in 2D crystals,such as the charge density wave(CDW),often leads to intriguing quantum properties,making them a valuable platform for exploring fundamental physics and potential device applications.However,despite their significance,experimental studies addressing atomic tracking of thermally-driven structural evolution in 2D crystals have been limited.Herein,we utilize high-accuracy variable-temperature atomic tracking measurements with scanning tunneling microscopy(STM)to directly observe a series of structural transitions in a model 2D crystal,namely NbSe_(2).With the atomic tracking technique,we confirm the existence of the universal thermally-driven CDW transition hysteresis between the heating and cooling cycles.This transition hysteresis,characterized by a constant temperature offset,represents a new phenomenon of structural evolution.Our findings provide a feasible method to track CDW transitions at the atomic scale in 2D crystals,significantly contributing to a better understanding and the potential modulation of these materials'functions in nanodevices.Baofei Hou Teng Zhang Tingting Wang Hongyan Ji Huixia Yang Liangguang Jia Xu Han Jingsi Qiao Yu Zhang Liwei Liu Hong-Jun Gao Yeliang Wang 2024InfoMat2024,6,2:0
5Neuroprotective effects of salvianolic acid A against cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats by affecting the Wnt/B-catenin signaling pathway显示文摘Ischemic stroke remains a refractory disease due to low recovery rate in the world.Although neuroprotection and neurogenesis well correlate with functional recovery after ischemic stroke,the underlying mechanisms are not very clear.Salvianolic acid A(SalA)has numerous biological activities that which includes anti-inflammatory,anti-allergic,anti-aging,anti-oxidant and anti-tumor activity.The aim of this study is to assess the neuroprotective effect of SalA and investigate the underlying mechanism through the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway in an animal model of focal cerebral ischemia in rats.In this study,we applicate the rat model with middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO)to simulate ischemia stroke,cerebral blood flow was restored after 3 hours.SalA was administered intragastrically once daily at the concentrations of 20,40 mg/kg and 60 mg/kg for a.week post ischemia.Neurological functions were detected by Ludmila Belayev score tests.Zhu Junde Xie Ming Zhou Lu Yu Yan Kang Zhaosheng Sun Baofei 2021解剖学杂志2021,44,S01:0
6Advances in probing single biomolecules: From DNA bases to glycans显示文摘Imaging biomolecules in real space is crucial for gaining a comprehensive understanding of the properties and functions of biological systems at the most fundamental level.Among the various imaging techniques available for biomolecules and their assembled nanostructures,scanning probe microscopy(SPM)provides a powerful and nondestructive imaging option.SPM is unique in visualizing intrinsically disordered biomolecules at the nanometer scale(e.g.,glycans).This review highlights recent achievements in studying biomolecules using SPM technique,focusing on DNA bases,amino acids,proteins,and glycans.The atomic-level analysis of biomolecules made possible by SPM allows for a more accurate definition of the local structure–property relationship.High-resolution SPM imaging of single biomolecules offers a new way to study basic processes of life at the molecular level.Baofei Hou Teng Zhang Huixia Yang Xu Han Liwei Liu Linfei Li Cesare Grazioli Xu Wu Nan Jiang Yeliang Wang 2023Interdisciplinary Materials2023,2,4:0
