绿茶儿茶酚: 对心血管疾病的防御作用(英文)显示文摘Green tea,Camellia sinensis(Theaceae),a major source of flavonoids such as catechins, has recently shown multiple cardiovascular health benefits through various experimental and clinical studies. These studies suggest that green tea catechins prevent the incidence of detrimental cardiovascular events, and also lower the cardiovascular mortality rate.Catechins present in green tea have the ability to prevent atherosclerosis, hypertension, endothelial dysfunction, ischemic heart diseases, cardiomyopathy, cardiac hypertrophy and congestive heart failure by decreasing oxidative stress, preventing inflammatory events, reducing platelet aggregation and halting the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells.Catechins afford an anti-oxidant effect by inducing anti-oxidant enzymes, inhibiting pro-oxidant enzymes and scavenging free radicals.Catechins present anti-inflammatory activity through the inhibition of transcriptional factor NF-κB-mediated production of cytokines and adhesion molecules.Green tea catechins interfere with vascular growth factors and thus inhibit vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation, and also inhibit thrombogenesis by suppressing platelet adhesion.Additionally, catechins could protect vascular endothelial cells and enhance vascular integrity and regulate blood pressure. In this review various experimental and clinical studies suggesting the role of green tea catechins against the markers of cardiovascular disorders and the underlying mechanisms for these actions are discussed.Pooja Bhardwaj Deepa Khanna 2013中国天然药物2013,11,4:10
Plant Small RNAs: Biogenesis, Mode of Action and Their Roles in Abiotic Stresses显示文摘Small RNAs (sRNAs) are 18-30 nt non-coding regulatory elements found in diverse organisms, which were initially identified as small double-stranded RNAs in Caenorhabditis elegans. With the development of new and improved technologies, sRNAs have also been identified and characterized in plant systems. Among them, micro RNAs (miRNAs) and small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) are found to be very important riboregulators in plants. Various types of sRNAs differ in their mode of biogenesis and in their function of gene regulation. sRNAs are involved in gene regulation at both transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels. They are known to regulate growth and development of plants. Furthermore, sRNAs especially plant miRNAs have been found to be involved in various stress responses, such as oxidative, mineral nutrient deficiency, dehydration, and even mechanical stimulus. Therefore, in the present review, we focus on the current understanding of biogenesis and regulatory mechanisms of plant sRNAs and their responses to various abiotic stresses.Praveen Guleria Monika Mahajan Jyoti Bhardwaj Sudesh Kumar Yadav 2011Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2011,9,6:10
Toward commercial realization of quantum dot based white light-emitting diodes for general illumination显示文摘We demonstrate the first commercial production–ready white light-emitting diodes(LEDs)for the general illumination market with red colloidal quantum dots(QDs)applied in an on–chip configuration. We show the red QDs with tunable peak emission and narrow full width at half-maximum in combination with a conventional phosphor material can lead to LED conversion efficiency improvements of 5% to 15% over commercial phosphor based LEDs at correlated color temperatures(CCTs)ranging from 5000 to 2700 K.Furthermore, the challenges associated with reliability under high temperature, high blue flux intensity, and high humidity operation have been overcome to meet consumer market requirements. Finally,a demonstrator lamp at 3000 K color temperature and 90 color rendering index(CRI)with QD based LEDs show a larger efficiency gain up to 17%,attributed to the reduced blue LED droop from the lower drive current and the lower heat sink temperature when compared to a standard phosphor based LED lamp output.KEN TSHIMIZU MARCEL BOHMER DANIEL ESTRADA SUMIT GANGWAL STEFAN GRABOWSKI HELMUT BECHTEL EDWARD KANG KENNETH JVAMPOLA DANIELLE CHAMBERLIN OLEG BSHCHEKIN JYOTI BHARDWAJ 2017Photonics Research2017,5,2:5

A review of ecological risk assessment and associated health risks with heavy metals in sediment from India显示文摘Heavy metal(HM)pollution in sediment is a serious concern particularly in developing nations, warranting an extensive survey to understand the current situation and propose possible remedial measures. This paper compiles the data of HMs cadmium(Cd),iron(Fe),cobalt(Co),manganese(Mn),arsenic(As),lead(Pb),chromium(Cr),copper(Cu),zinc(Zn)and nickel(Ni)in aquatic sediment from India from 1979 to 2017.It was found that mean values of Cu,Co,Zn,Pb,As,and Cr in Indian sediment were high in comparison to the Australian Interim Sediment Quality Guidelines,World Surface Rock Average, and the Threshold Effect Level for freshwater ecosystems.Anthropogenic activities, lithogenic factors, and sand intrusion are the main factors associated with HM pollution as observed using cluster analysis and principal component analysis. The results of contamination indices indicate that HM contamination ranged from average to high,in the sediment. The ecological risk assessment results showed that 11%HMs present very high risk. The cancer risk, due to the high contents of Cd,As,and Cr the ingestion pathway, showed high risk of cancer through food/water contaminated with sediment. At source reduction of HMs in industrial effluents by effluent treatment plants, and plantation of phytoremediating rooted macrophytes in sediment may help in HM mitigation of the sediment.Vinod Kumar Anket Sharma Shevita Pandita Renu Bhardwaj Ashwani Kumar Thukral Artemi Cerda 2020International Journal of Sediment Research2020,35,5:4
Enhanced thermoelectric performance in p-type ZrCoSb based half-Heusler alloys employing nanostructuring and compositional modulation显示文摘ZrCoSb based half-Heusler(HH)alloys have been widely studied as a p-type thermoelectric(TE)material for power generation applications in the mid-temperature regime. However, their intrinsically high thermal conductivity has been found to be detrimental for the improvement in their thermoelectric figure-of-merit(ZT),which presently is far below unity. In the current work,a state-of-the-art ZT~1.1 at 873 K was realized in an optimized composition of nanostructured Zr1-xHfxCoSb_(0.9)Sn_(0.1) HH alloys by employing compositional modulation i.e.grain-by-grain compositional variations, which leads to a substantial increase in its power factor coupled with a concurrent decrease in its thermal conductivity.Significant reduction in the phonon mean-free-path is observed on Hf substitution, which is comparable to the average crystallite size(~25 nm),thus leading to a very low thermal conductivity of~2.2Wm^(-1)K^(-1) at 873 K,which is amongst the lowest reported in HH alloys. The TE device characteristics, estimated using cumulative temperature dependence model for quantitative evaluation of TE performance, yielded an output power density of~10 Wcm2 with a leg efficiency of~10%in the optimized composition of nanostructured Zr_(1-x)Hf_(x)CoSb_(0.9)Sn_(0.1) HH alloys, which is comparable to the reported efficiencies of other state-of-the-art TE materials.Nagendra S.Chauhan Sivaiah Bathula Avinash Vishwakarma Ruchi Bhardwaj Kishor Kumar Johari Bhasker Gahtori Ajay Dhar 2019Journal of Materiomics2019,5,1:3
Nanomaterials for sensing of formaldehyde in air: Principles, applications, and performance evaluation显示文摘Despite the improvement in sensing technologies, detection of small and highly reactive molecules like formaldehyde remains a highly challenging area of research. Applications of nanomaterials/nanostructures and their composites have increased as effective sensing platforms (e.g., reaction time, sensitivity, and selectivity) for the detection of aqueous or gaseous formaldehyde based on diverse sensing principles. In this review, the basic aspects of important nanomaterial-based sensing systems (e.g., electrochemical, electrical, biological, and mass variation sensors) were evaluated in relation to performance, cost, and practicality of sensing gas phase formaldehyde. Accordingly, existing knowledge gaps in such applications were assessed in various respects along with suitable recommendations for building a new roadmap for the expansion of chemical sensing technology of gas phase formaldehyde.Deepak Kukkar Kowsalya Vellingiri Rajnish Kaur Sanjeev Kumar Bhardwaj Akash Deep Ki-Hyun Kim 2019Nano Research2019,12,2:3

Superior safety of direct oral anticoagulants compared to Warfarin in patients with atrial fibrillation and underlying cancer: a national veterans affairs database study显示文摘Background Studies evaluating safety of warfarin and direct oral anticoagulants(DOACs) for prevention of stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation(AF) are lacking. Methods & Results All patients(n = 196,521) receiving care at veteran’s affairs with active cancer and AF from 2010–2015 were included. One-year mortality was significantly higher in unadjusted analysis with warfarin(44.9%) compared to dabigatran(25%, P < 0.001), rivaroxaban(24.4%, P < 0.001) and apixaban(30%, P < 0.001) and after adjusting for age, sex and type of cancer mortality(OR = 2.66, 95% CI: 2.52–2.82, P < 0.001). Risk of ischemic stroke(13.5% vs. 11.1%, 12.0%, 14.0%) was similar, however risk of hemorrhagic stroke was significantly higher among patients receiving warfarin(1.2%) compared to patients receiving dabigatran(0.5%), rivaroxaban(0.7%) and apixaban(0.8%) respectively, P = 0.04. Conclusions We demonstrated the superior safety profile of DOACs compared to warfarin among patients with underlying cancer and AF. Warfarin was associated with higher mortality, similar ischemic stroke risk but higher risk of hemorrhagic stroke.Abhishek C Sawant Arnav Kumar Wilmon Mccray Sheldon Tetewsky Linda Parone Srilekha Sridhara Meghana Prakash Hiriyur Prakash Gary Tse Tong LIU Nidhi Kanwar Aishwarya Bhardwaj Sahoor Khan Christopher Manion Ankush Lahoti Ashish Pershad Peter Elkin John Corbelli 2019Journal of Geriatric Cardiology2019,16,9:2
Evaluation of functional outcome and stability of sutureless scleral tunnel fixated IOLs in children with ectopia lentis显示文摘AIM:To evaluate functional outcome of sutureless scleral tunnel intraocular lens(SSTIOL)in children with crystalline lens subluxation of more than 7 clock hours.METHODS:A prospective interventional study was conducted consisting of 45 eyes of 44 children in age group 6-18 y having>7 clock hours of lens subluxation who underwent lensectomy-vitrectomy followed by SSTIOL implantation.Primary outcome was improvement in best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)and secondary outcomes were assessment of intraocular lens(IOL)tilt using ultrasound biomicroscopy(UBM),mean change in astigmatism at last follow-up of 1 y and associated complications.RESULTS:The mean preoperative and postoperative BCVA was 1.05±0.28 and 0.64±0.45(log MAR)respectively(P=0.001)at last follow-up.The mean astigmatism preoperatively and postoperatively was-4.17±2.69 D and-1.86±1.25 D respectively(P=0.011).Significant IOL tilt(>5 degrees)was present in 5 cases. The mean percentage endothelial loss was 3.65%±1.92%.The most serious complication encountered was retinal detachment seen in 2 cases.CONCLUSION:SSTIOL implantation provides efficient visual rehabilitation in children provided there is stringent case selection. We recommend caution in children having white-to-white distance>12 mm and presence of peripheral retinal degenerations.Anju Rastogi Prateek Kumar Shweta Dhiman Manisha Mishra Kamlesh AnAND Ankita Bhardwaj 2020International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2020,13,1:2
Weight loss interventions in living donor liver transplantation as a tool in expanding the donor pool: A systematic review and metaanalysis显示文摘BACKGROUND With increasing rates of liver transplantation and a stagnant donor pool, the annual wait list removals have remained high.Living donor liver transplantation(LDLT)is an established modality in expanding the donor pool and is the primary method of liver donation in large parts of the world.Marginal living donors, including those with hepatic steatosis, have been used to expand the donor pool. However, due to negative effects of steatosis on graft and recipient outcomes, current practice excludes overweight or obese donors with more than 10%macro vesicular steatosis. This has limited a potentially important source to help expand the donor pool.Weight loss is known to improve or resolve steatosis and rapid weight loss with short-term interventions have been used to convert marginal donors to low-risk donors in a small series of studies. There is,however,a lack of a consensus driven standardized approach to such interventions.AIM To assess the available data on using weight loss interventions in potential living liver donors with steatotic livers and investigated the feasibility, efficacy, and safety of using such donors on the donor, graft and recipient outcomes. The principal objective was to assess if using such treated donor livers, could help expand the donor pool.METHODS We performed a comprehensive literature review and meta-analysis on studies examining the role of short-term weight loss interventions in potential living liver donors with hepatic steatosis with the aim of increasing liver donation rates and improving donor, graft, and recipient outcomes.RESULTS A total of 6 studies with 102 potential donors were included. Most subjects were males(71).All studies showed a significant reduction in body mass index postintervention with a mean difference of-2.08(-3.06,1.10,I2=78%).A significant reduction or resolution of hepatic steatosis was seen in 93 of the 102(91.2%).Comparison of pre-and post-intervention liver biopsies showed a significant reduction in steatosis with a mean difference of-21.22(-27.02,-15.43,I2=56%).The liver donation rates post-intervention was 88.5(74.5,95.3,I2=42%).All donors who did not undergo LDLT had either recipient reasons or had fibrosis/steatohepatitis on post intervention biopsies.Post-operative biliary complications in the intervention group were not significantly different compared to controls with an odds ratio of 0.96[(0.14,6.69),I2=0].The overall post-operative donor, graft, and recipient outcomes in treated donors were not significantly different compared to donors with no steatosis.CONCLUSION Use of appropriate short term weight loss interventions in living liver donors is an effective tool in turning marginal donors to low-risk donors and therefore in expanding the donor pool.It is feasible and safe, with comparable donor, graft, and recipient outcomes,to non-obese donors.Larger future prospective studies are needed.Sushrut Trakroo Nakul Bhardwaj Rajat Garg Jamak Modaresi Esfeh 2021World Journal of Gastroenterology2021,27,24:2
