Imatinib as preoperative therapy in Chinese patients with recurrent or metastatic GISTs显示文摘Objective: Imatinib has dramatically altered the options for management of patients with gastrointestinal stromal tumours. However, it has become clear that secondary resistance to the drug develops during long-term therapy. The purpose of our study was to retrospectively analyze safety and long-term outcomes in Chinese patients with recurrent or metastatic GISTs treated with imatinib preoperatively. Methods: Between June 2003 and June 2011, 22 patients underwent surgery for recurrent or metastatic GISTs after preoperative treatment with imatinib. Results: Complete resection was accomplished in 8 of the 10 responsive disease (RD) patients (80%), and in 3 of the 12 patients (25%) who had progression disease (PD). The amount of blood loss during the operation in PD patients was higher than in RD patients. There was 1 hospital death in PD group related to surgery, while the other patients recovered with conservative therapy because complications were mild. The difference in median PFS between patients with RD and those with PD was significant (24.8 vs. 2.81 months, P<0.001). The difference in 2-year OS rate between patients with RD and those with PD was not significant (100% vs. 87.5%, P>0.05). Conclusions: Our study indicates that surgical intervention can improve the PFS of Chinese patients with recurrent or metastatic GISTs responsive to imatinib, but does not prolong OS as well as in patients who develop imatinib resistance. Surgical resection following imatinib treatment is feasible and can be considered for patients with advanced GISTs responsive to imatinib. | Chunmeng Wang Biqiang Zheng Yong Chen Xi Cao Ruming Zhang Yingqiang Shi | 2013 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2013,25,1: | 6
Empirical modeling of ionospheric F2 layer critical frequency over Wakkanai under geomagnetic quiet and disturbed conditions显示文摘The hourly values of the ionospheric F2 layer critical frequency, foF2, recorded at Wakkanai ionosonde station (45.4°N, 141.7°E) have been collected to construct a middle-latitude single-station model for forecasting foF2 under geomagnetic quiet and disturbed conditions. The module for the geomagnetic quiet conditions incorporates local time, seasonal, and solar variability of climatological foF2 and its upper and lower quartiles. It is the first attempt to predict the upper and lower quartiles of foF2 to account for the notable day-to-day variability in ionospheric foF2. The validation statistically verifies that the model captures the climatological variations of foF2 with higher accuracy than IRI does. The storm-time module is built to capture the geomagnetic storm induced relative deviations of foF2 from the quiet time references. In the geomagnetically disturbed module, the storm-induced deviations are described by diurnal and semidiurnal waves, which are modulated by a modified magnetic activity index, the Kf index, reflecting the delayed responses of foF2 to geomagnetic activity forcing. The coefficients of the model in each month are determined by fitting the model formula to the observation in a least-squares way. We provide two options for the geomagnetic disturbed module, including or not including Kalman filter algorithm. The Kalman filter algorithm is introduced to optimize these coefficients in real time. Our results demonstrate that the introduction of the Kalman filter algorithm in the storm time module is promising for improving the accuracy of predication. In addition, comparisons indicate that the IRI model prediction of the F2 layer can be improved to provide better performances over this region. | LIU Jing LIU LiBo ZHAO BiQiang WAN WeiXing CHEN YiDing | 2012 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,5: | 4
Preliminary experimental results by the prototype of Sanya Incoherent Scatter Radar显示文摘In the past decades, the Incoherent Scatter Radar(ISR)has been demonstrated to be one of the most powerful instruments for ionosphere monitoring. The Institute of Geology and Geophysics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences was founded to build a state-ofthe-art phased-array ISR at Sanya(18.3°N,109.6°E),a low-latitude station on Hainan Island, named the Sanya ISR(SYISR).As a first step,a prototype radar system consisting of eight subarrays(SYISR-8)was built to reduce the technical risk of producing the entire large array. In this work,we have summarized the preliminary experimental results based on the SYISR-8.The amplitude and phase among 256 channels were first calibrated through an embedded internal monitoring network. The mean oscillation of the amplitude and phase after calibration were about 1 dB and 5°,respectively,which met the basic requirements. The beam directivity was confirmed by crossing screen of the International Space Station. The SYISR-8 was further used to detect the tropospheric wind profile and meteors. The derived winds were evaluated by comparison with independent radiosonde and balloon-based GPS measurements. The SYISR-8 was able to observe several typical meteor echoes, such as the meteor head echo,range-spread trail echo, and specular trail echo. These results confirmed the validity and reliability of the SYISR-8 system, thereby reducing the technical risk of producing the entire large array of the SYISR to some extent. | XinAn Yue WeiXing Wan Han Xiao LingQi Zeng ChangHai Ke BaiQi Ning Feng Ding BiQiang Zhao Lin Jin Chen Li MingYuan Li JunYi Wang HongLian Hao Ning Zhang | 2020 | Earth and Planetary Physics2020,4,6: | 3
Soliton fiber laser mode locked with two types of film-based Bi2Te3 saturable absorbers显示文摘We propose a low-threshold soliton fiber laser passively mode locked with two different types of film-like saturable absorbers, one of which is fabricated by mixing Bi2Te3 with de-ionized water, as well as polyvinyl alcohol(PVA), and then evaporating them in a Petri dish, and the other of which is prepared by directly dropping Bi2Te3 solution on the PVA film. Both Bi2Te3–PVA films exhibit outstanding features of low loss, high flexibility, and easy synthesis. By incorporating Bi2Te3–PVA films into fiber lasers, stable single-soliton emissions are obtained at a low pump power of 13 mW. Our results suggest that the Bi2Te3 can work as a promising mode locker for ultrafast lasers, while PVA is an excellent host for fabricating high-performance film-based saturable absorbers. | Dong Mao Biqiang Jiang Xuetao Gan Chaojie Ma Yu Chen Chujun Zhao Han Zhang Jianbang Zheng Jianlin Zhao | 2015 | Photonics Research2015,3,2: | 3
Efficient production of chemicals from microorganism by metabolic engineering and synthetic biology显示文摘The use of traditional chemical catalysis to produce chemicals has a series of drawbacks, such as high dependence on fossil resources, high energy consumption, and environmental pollution. With the development of synthetic biology and metabolic engineering, the use of renewable biomass raw materials for chemicals synthesis by constructing efficient microbial cell factories is a green way to replace traditional chemical catalysis and traditional microbial fermentation. This review mainly summarizes several types of bulk chemicals and high value-added chemicals using metabolic engineering and synthetic biology strategies to achieve efficient microbial production. In addition, this review also summarizes several strategies for effectively regulating microbial cell metabolism. These strategies can achieve the coupling balance of material and energy by regulating intracellular material metabolism or energy metabolism, and promote the efficient production of target chemicals by microorganisms. | Yang Zhang Jing Yu Yilu Wu Mingda Li Yuxuan Zhao Haowen Zhu Changjing Chen Meng Wang Biqiang Chen Tianwei Tan | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2021,34,2: | 2

Recent Progresses on Ionospheric Climatology Investigations显示文摘The ionosphere varies over multiple time scales, which are classified into two categories: the climatology and weather variations. In this national report,we give a brief summary of recent progresses in ionospheric climatology with focus on(1) the seasonal variations,(2) solar cycle effects, and(3) empirical modeling of the ionosphere. The seasonal variations of the ionosphere have been explored in many works to give a more detailed picture with regional and global features at various altitudes by analyzing the observation data from various sources and models. Moreover,a series of studies reported the response of the ionosphere to solar cycle variations, which revealed some novel and detailed features of solar activity dependence of ionospheric parameters at different altitudes. These investigations have improved our understanding on the states of the ionosphere and underlying fundamental processes, provided clues to future studies on ionospheric weather, and guided ionospheric modeling, forecasting and related applications. | LIU Libo WAN Weixing CHEN Yiding LE Huijun ZHAO Biqiang | 2012 | 空间科学学报2012,32,5: | 1

New discoveries in the field of metabolism by applying single-cell and spatial omics显示文摘Single-cell multi-Omics(SCM-Omics)and spatial multi-Omics(SM-Omics)technologies provide state-of-the-art methods for exploring the composition and function of cell types in tissues/organs.Since its emergence in 2009,single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq)has yielded many groundbreaking new discoveries. The combination of this method with the emergence and development of SM-Omics techniques has been a pioneering strategy in neuroscience, developmental biology, and cancer research, especially for assessing tumor heterogeneity and T-cell infiltration. In recent years, the application of these methods in the study of metabolic diseases has also increased. The emerging SCM-Omics and SM-Omics approaches allow the molecular and spatial analysis of cells to explore regulatory states and determine cell fate, and thus provide promising tools for unraveling heterogeneous metabolic processes and making them amenable to intervention. Here,we review the evolution of SCM-Omics and SM-Omics technologies, and describe the progress in the application of SCM-Omics and SM-Omics in metabolism-related diseases, including obesity, diabetes, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)and cardiovascular disease(CVD).We also conclude that the application of SCM-Omics and SM-Omics approaches can help resolve the molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of metabolic diseases in the body and facilitate therapeutic measures for metabolism-related diseases. This review concludes with an overview of the current status of this emerging field and the outlook for its future. | Baocai Xie Dengfeng Gao Biqiang Zhou Shi Chen Lianrong Wang | 2023 | Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2023,13,7: | 0
Treatment and prognosis of iliac fossa soft tissue sarcoma: A single-center study显示文摘Dear Editor,Primary iliac fossa sarcoma(IFS)is a special type of retroperitoneal sarcoma(RPS),accounting for∼15%of all RPS cases[1].The deep location, large size, and invasion to surrounding tissues and organs are the main causes of unresectability of IFS.All these characteristics are associated with an increased risk of positive surgical margin and a decreased feasibility of adjuvant therapy. In patients with multivisceral and/or vascular involvement,a multivisceral en bloc approach[2]with blood vessel replacement may be required to achieve a negative margin and to improve the quality of resection[3].However,whether these surgical procedures improve prognosis in patients with IFS remain undefined. Moreover, whether aggressive procedures lead to acceptable functional impairment requires validation. In addition, previous studies have reported inconsistent results regarding the role of adjuvant radiotherapy in the treatment of RPS[4].To date, the role of radiotherapy in the local control of IFS remains to be determined. Therefore,we analyzed the clinical features, treatment, and outcomes of IFS patients in an attempt to determine the significant prognostic factors and efficient therapeutics in real clinical practice. | Wei Sun Hongqiang Zhang Biqiang Zheng Ruming Zhang Chunmeng Wang Wangjun Yan Bing Wang Xinglong Qu Yong Chen | 2020 | Cancer Communications2020,40,7: | 0
Green biomanufacturing promoted by automatic retrobiosynthesis planning and computational enzyme design显示文摘Biomanufacturing, which uses renewable resources as raw materials and uses biological processes to produce energy and chemicals, has long been regarded as a production model that replaces the unsustainable fossil economy. The construction of non-natural and efficient biosynthesis routes of chemicals is an important goal of green biomanufacturing.Traditional methods that rely on experience are difficult to support the realization of this goal. However, with the rapid development of information technology, the intelligence of biomanufacturing has brought hope to achieve this goal.Retrobiosynthesis and computational enzyme design,as two of the main technologies in intelligent biomanufacturing, have developed rapidly in recent years and have made great achievements and some representative works have demonstrated the great value that the integration of the two fields may bring. To achieve the final integration of the two fields,it is necessary to examine the information, methods and tools from a bird’s-eye view, and to find a feasible idea and solution for establishing a connection point. For this purpose, this article briefly reviewed the main ideas, methods and tools of the two fields, and put forward views on how to achieve the integration of the two fields. | Ziheng Cui Shiding Zhang Shengyu Zhang Biqiang Chen Yushan Zhu Tianwei Tan | 2022 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2022,35,1: | 0
