3Electron-phonon coupling-assisted universal red luminescence of o-phenylenediamine-based carbon dots显示文摘Due to the complex core-shell structure and variety of surface functional groups,the photoluminescence(PL)mechanism of carbon dots(CDs)remain unclear.o-Phenylenediamine(oPD),as one of the most common precursors for preparing red emissive CDs,has been extensively studied.Interestingly,most of the red emission CDs based on oPD have similar PL emission characteristics.Herein,we prepared six different oPD-based CDs and found that they had almost the same PL emission and absorption spectra after purifiication.Structural and spectral characterization indicated that they had similar carbon core structures but diffferent surface polymer shells.Furthermore,single-molecule PL spectroscopy confirmed that the multi-modal emission of those CDs originated from the transitions of different vibrational energy levels of the same PL center in the carbon core.In addition,the phenomenon of'spectral splitting'of single-particle CDs was observed at low temperature,which confirmed these oPD-based CDs were unique materials with properties of both organic molecules and quantum dots.Finally,theoretical calculations revealed their potential polymerization mode and carbon core structure.Moreover,we proposed the PL mechanism of red-emitting CDs based on oPD precursors;that is,the carbon core regulates the PL emission,and the polymer shell regulates the PL intensity.Our work resolves the controversy on the PL mechanism of oPD-based red CDs.These findings provide a general guide for the mechanism exploration and structural analysis of other types of CDs.Boyang Wang Zhihong Wei Laizhi Sui Jingkun Yu Baowei Zhang Xiaoyong Wang Shengnan Feng Haoqiang Song Xue Yong Yuxi Tian Bai Yang Siyu Lu 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,7:2
4Divergence of tree-ring-based drought reconstruction between the individual sampling site and the Monsoon Asia Drought Atlas: an example from Guancen Mountain显示文摘To evaluate the applicability of the Standardized Precipitation-Evapotranspiration Index(SPEI) and the self-calibrated Palmer Drought Severity Index(sc PDSI) to paleoclimate reconstructions in the east Asian summer monsoon region, we used a 194-year tree-ring width chronology from Guancen Mountain, Shanxi Province,China, to investigate its correlation with SPEI and sc PDSI,respectively. The results indicated sc PDSI as a robust drought index that could be reconstructed from tree-ring width on Guancen Mountain. Significant correlations with other hydroclimate-related series illustrated that our reconstruction captured common variations of hydroclimate in the surrounding areas. Additionally, our reconstructionshowed significant correlation with nearby grid points of the Monsoon Asia Drought Atlas(MADA). However,while unprecedented drying trend existed during the past several decades in MADA, it was not represented in our reconstruction or in instrumental sc PDSI/Dai-PDSI. This may imply that MADA overestimated drought severity during the past several decades in our study area; this overestimation was probably caused by an insufficient spatiotemporal distribution of the tree-ring network used by MADA. 5Highly conductive polymer nanocomposites for emerging high voltage power cable shields:experiment,simulation and applications显示文摘High voltage power cables play a critical role in global electricity transmission and distribution.The currently used power cables cannot fulfil the green and sustainable requirement of modern society because of the thermoset nature of cable insulation and shields.This study is aimed at developing thermoplastic shields for high voltage power cable,which is one bottleneck restricting the development of environmental-friendly cables.Using carbon black(CB)as the main conductive component and a small amount of carbon nanotubes(CNTs)or graphene as the second filler,highly conductive polypropylene based composite materials were prepared for potential shield applications.It was found that,at a fixed conductive filler loading,the replacement of a small amount CB by CNTs can significantly enhance the electrical conductivity and suppress its temperature dependence.However,when CB was replaced by graphene,only limited enhancement of electrical conductivity could be achieved and the electrical conductivity is still highly dependent on temperature.Dissipative particle dynamics simulations demonstrated that the enhanced conduction property in the CNTs-containing composites could be understood by the shorter average distance between CB and CNTs.Finally,the coordination between the newly developed conductive composites and the environmental-friendly thermoplastic polypropylene insulation was evaluated via high voltage direct current measurements,and the results revealed that the CNTs-containing composites showed excellent suppression effect on the space charge injection and accumulation in the insulation.This research paved a new way for developing environmental-friendly high voltage power cable shields.Xingyi Huang Boyang Sun Chunyang Yu Jiandong Wu Jun Zhang Pingkai Jiang 2020High Voltage2020,5,4:2
6Differential Evolution with Level-Based Learning Mechanism显示文摘To address complex single objective global optimization problems,a new Level-Based Learning Differential Evolution(LBLDE)is developed in this study.In this approach,the whole population is sorted from the best to the worst at the beginning of each generation.Then,the population is partitioned into multiple levels,and different levels are used to exert different functions.In each level,a control parameter is used to select excellent exemplars from upper levels for learning.In this case,the poorer individuals can choose more learning exemplars to improve their exploration ability,and excellent individuals can directly learn from the several best individuals to improve the quality of solutions.To accelerate the convergence speed,a difference vector selection method based on the level is developed.Furthermore,specific crossover rates are assigned to individuals at the lowest level to guarantee that the population can continue to update during the later evolutionary process.A comprehensive experiment is organized and conducted to obtain a deep insight into LBLDE and demonstrates the superiority of LBLDE in comparison with seven peer DE variants.Kangjia Qiao Jing Liang Boyang Qu Kunjie Yu Caitong Yue Hui Song 2022Complex System Modeling and Simulation2022,2,1:1

8All-Day Thermogalvanic Cells for Environmental Thermal Energy Harvesting显示文摘Direct conversion of the tremendous and ubiquitous low-grade thermal energy into electricity by thermogalvanic cells is a promising strategy for energy harvesting.The environment is one of the richest and renewable low-grade thermal source.However,critical challenges remain for all-day electricity generation from environmental thermal energy due to the low frequency and small amplitude of temperature fluctuations in the environment.In this work,we report a tandem device consisting of a polypyrrole(PPy)broadband absorber/radiator,thermogalvanic cell,and thermal storage material(Cu foam/PEG1000)that integrates multiple functions of heating,cooling,and recycling of thermal energy.The thermogalvanic cell enables continuous utilization of environmental thermal energy at both daytime and nighttime,yielding maximum outputs as high as 0.6 W m^(-2) and 53 mW m^(-2),respectively.As demonstrated outdoors by a large-scale prototype module,this design offers a feasible and promising approach to all-day electricity generation from environmental thermal energy.Boyang Yu Jiangjiang Duan Jia Li Wenke Xie Hongrun Jin Rong Liu Hui Wang Liang Huang Bin Hu Jun Zhou 2019Research2019,,1:1

11Cross-linking enhanced room-temperature phosphorescence of carbon dots显示文摘Currently,there is a strong drive to discover alternative materials that exhibit room-temperature phosphorescence(RTP)for displays,bioimaging,and data security.Ideally,these materials should be nontoxic,cheap,and possess controllable photoluminescent properties.Carbon dots(CDs)possess each of these characteristics,but to date,less attention has been paid to their RTP mechanism.Herein,we synthesized a series of CDs by self-crosslinking and carbonization of precursor.The resultant CDs were luminescent and exhibited a bright,micro-second afterglow lifetime.To increase the RTP,a second microwave processing step was used to coat the CDs with polyvinyl alcohol(PVA),polyacrylamide(PAM),or tetraethyl orthosilicate(TEOS),producing CDs@PVA,CDs@PAM,and CDs@TEOS composites.The core-shell structure acted to enhance crosslinking at the surface of the CDs to boost the RTP,creating abundant energy levels for intersystem crossover.In situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy verified electron transfer during luminescence.Finally,we present a design rule that can be used to tune the quantum yields and RTP lifetime of CDs,based on the effective stabilization of triplet excited states through the extent and strength of cross-linking.This simple strategy provides a flexible route for guiding the further development of CDs with tailored RTP properties for various applications.Boyang Wang Zhen Sun Jingkun Yu Geoffrey I.N.Waterhouse Siyu Lu Bai Yang 2022SmartMat2022,3,2:1

14Mitogenomic Conservation Genetics of the Critically Endangered Liaoning Clawed Salamander显示文摘The Liaoning clawed salamander(Onychodactylus zhaoermii)is an endemic and critically endangered amphibian species of China.To study the population genetics of natural populations of this species,32 samples were collected from six different locations,and the mitochondrial genome was sequenced.Population genetic analyses showed that the Liaoning clawed salamander is composed of only one radialized cluster with ultralow nucleotide diversity.Late Pleistocene climate cooling(-100 to-30 kya)may have reduced the effective population size of the Liaoning clawed salamander,and the subsequent temperature increase(~25 kya to present)provided the opportunity for population expansion.Because of heat sensitivity,the maximum temperature of the prebreeding period,especially from March to May,is very important for the surface environment living in the Liaoning clawed salamander.Three suitable regions were predicted by the MaxEnt model,and the largest suitable region(approximately 899 km2)was at the four-county boundary area and was larger than the present’Natural Conservation Community of the Liaoning Clawed Salamander’.To ensure more effective protection of all Liaoning clawed salamanders,we suggest extending the current’Natural Conservation Community of the Liaoning Clawed Salamander’to include the four-county boundary area.Yu ZHOU Boyang YU Jichuan ZHAO Fang WANG Zhenwei WANG Bingjun DONG Baotian YANG 2021Asian Herpetological Research2021,12,4:1

17Intercellular transfer of activated STING triggered by RAB22A-mediated non-canonical autophagy promotes antitumor immunity显示文摘STING,an endoplasmic reticulum(ER)transmembrane protein,mediates innate immune activation upon cGAMP stimulation and is degraded through autophagy.Here,we report that activated STING could be transferred between cells to promote antitumor immunity,a process triggered by RAB22A-mediated non-canonical autophagy.Mechanistically,RAB22A engages PI4K2A to generate PI4P that recruits the Atg12–Atg5–Atg16L1 complex,inducing the formation of ER-derived RAB22A-mediated non-canonical autophagosome,in which STING activated by agonists or chemoradiotherapy is packaged.This RAB22A-induced autophagosome fuses with RAB22A-positive early endosome,generating a new organelle that we name Rafeesome(RAB22A-mediated non-canonical autophagosome fused with early endosome).Meanwhile,RAB22A inactivates RAB7 to suppress the fusion of Rafeesome with lysosome,thereby enabling the secretion of the inner vesicle of the autophagosome bearing activated STING as a new type of extracellular vesicle that we define as R-EV(RAB22A-induced extracellular vesicle).Activated STING-containing R-EVs induce IFNβrelease from recipient cells to the tumor microenvironment,promoting antitumor immunity.Consistently,RAB22A enhances the antitumor effect of the STING agonist diABZI in mice,and a high RAB22A level predicts good survival in nasopharyngeal cancer patients treated with chemoradiotherapy.Our findings reveal that Rafeesome regulates the intercellular transfer of activated STING to trigger and spread antitumor immunity,and that the inner vesicle of non-canonical autophagosome originated from ER is secreted as R-EV,providing a new perspective for understanding the intercellular communication of organelle membrane proteins.Ying Gao Xueping Zheng Boyang Chang Yujie Lin Xiaodan Huang Wen Wang Shirong Ding Weixiang Zhan Shang Wang Beibei Xiao Lanqing Huo Youhui Yu Yilin Chen Run Gong Yuanzhong Wu Ruhua Zhang Li Zhong Xin Wang Qiuyan Chen Song Gao Zhengfan Jiang Denghui Wei Tiebang Kang 2022Cell Research2022,32,12:1

19Low-degree toroidal modes from the Sumatra-Andaman event observed by superconducting gravimeters显示文摘The complex frequencies of the low-degree toroidal modes are helpful in constraining the mantle structure.In the early years,the traditional method to detect the low-degree toroidal modes is seismic approach,which is primarily limited by the horizontal noise of seismometers.Recently,it has been proved that gravity method is competitive.Therefore,we re-estimated or newly estimated the complex frequencies of the toroidal modes below 1.5 mHz excited by the 2004 Sumatra-Andaman event using gravity method in this paper.The results show that(1)The quality factors of0 T5-0 T9 and1 T2-1 T3 are estimated from superconducting gravity data for the first time;(2)The estimated frequencies and quality factors for0 T2-0 T9 and1 T2-1 T3 are consistent with those provided by previous publications,which verifies the correctness and effectiveness of our estimations;(3)The maximum difference of frequencies between our results and those from CPREM is on the order of 0.01 mHz and the maximum difference of quality factors is at the level of 10.Chuang Xu Hangtao Yu Guangyu Jian Shiqi Deng Boyang Zhou Yihao Wu 2019Geodesy and Geodynamics2019,10,6:0
20Proximity-enabled covalent binding of IL-2 to IL-2Rα selectively activates regulatory T cells and suppresses autoimmunity显示文摘Interleukin-2(IL-2)is a pleiotropic cytokine that orchestrates bidirectional immune responses via regulatory T cells(Tregs)and effector cells,leading to paradoxical consequences.Here,we report a strategy that exploited genetic code expansion-guided incorporation of the latent bioreactive artificial amino acid fluorosulfate-L-tyrosine(FSY)into IL-2 for proximity-enabled covalent binding to IL-2Rαto selectively promote Treg activation.We found that FSY-bearing IL-2 variants,such as L72-FSY,covalently bound to IL-2Rαvia sulfur-fluoride exchange when in proximity,resulting in persistent recycling of IL-2 and selectively promoting the expansion of Tregs but not effector cells.Further assessment of L72-FSY-expanded Tregs demonstrated that L72-FSY maintained Tregs in a central memory phenotype without driving terminal differentiation,as demonstrated by simultaneously attenuated expression of lymphocyte activation gene-3(LAG-3)and enhanced expression of programmed cell death protein-1(PD-1).Subcutaneous administration of L72-FSY in murine models of pristane-induced lupus and graft-versus-host disease(GvHD)resulted in enhanced and sustained therapeutic efficacy compared with wild-type IL-2 treatment.The efficacy of L72-FSY was further improved by N-terminal PEGylation,which increased its circulatory retention for preferential and sustained effects.This proximity-enabled covalent binding strategy may accelerate the development of pleiotropic cytokines as a new class of immunomodulatory therapies.Bo Zhang Jiaqi Sun Yeshuang Yuan Dezhong Ji Yeting Sun Yudong Liu Shengjie Li Xingxing Zhu Xunyao Wu Jin Hu Qiu Xie Ling Wu Lulu Liu Boyang Cheng Yuanjie Zhang Lingjuan Jiang Lidan Zhao Fei Yu Wei Song Min Wang Yue Xu Shiliang Ma Yunyun Fei Lihe Zhang Demin Zhou Xuan Zhang 2023Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2023,8,2:0
