| 1 | Broadband diffusion of terahertz waves by multi-bit coding metasurfaces显示文摘The terahertz region is a special region of the electromagnetic spectrum that incorporates the advantages of both microwaves and infrared light waves.In the past decade,metamaterials with effective medium parameters or gradient phases have been studied to control terahertz waves and realize functional devices.Here,we present a new approach to manipulate terahertz waves by using coding metasurfaces that are composed of digital coding elements.We propose a general coding unit based on a Minkowski closed-loop particle that is capable of generating 1-bit coding(with two phase states of 0 and 180°),2-bit coding(with four phase states of 0,90°,180°,and 270°),and multi-bit coding elements in the terahertz frequencies by using different geometric scales.We show that multi-bit coding metasurfaces have strong abilities to control terahertz waves by designing-specific coding sequences.As an application,we demonstrate a new scattering strategy of terahertz waves—broadband and wide-angle diffusion—using a 2-bit coding metasurface with a special coding design and verify it by both numerical simulations and experiments.The presented method opens a new route to reducing the scattering of terahertz waves. | Li-Hua Gao Qiang Cheng Jing Yang Shao-Jie Ma Jie Zhao Shuo Liu Hai-Bing Chen Qiong He Wei-Xiang Jiang Hui-Feng Ma Qi-Ye Wen Lan-Ju Liang Biao-Bing Jin Wei-Wei Liu Lei Zhou Jian-Quan Yao Pei-Heng Wu Tie-Jun Cui | 2015 | Light(Science & Applications)2015,4,1: | 31 |
| 2 | The Intervention Effect of Rosiglitozone in Ovarian Fibrosis of PCOS Rats显示文摘Objective To explore the Intervention effect of Rosiglitozone in ovarian fibrosis of PCOS rats.Methods 60 female SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups:control group,model group and treatment group.The model and treatment groups were established by subcutaneous injection of DHEA,while the treatment group was given RGZ.The serum hormone values,pathohistology of ovarian structure of rats,ovarian ultrastructure and the expressions of TGF-β 1 and CTGF were detected.Results The PCOS model was established successfully.The expression intensity of TGF-β 1 and CTGF in Oocytes of the PCOS groups was 9.545±2.954 and 9.665±2.400,respectively and was significantly higher than that of the control group 6.636±2.264 and 7.036±2.133;after treatment with rosiglitazone,the expression was significantly decreased 6.980±2.421 and 6.642±2.721 as compared with that of the model group (P<0.05,P<0.001).The values in serum of the PCOS groups were 3.749±2.054 and 0.265±0.129,and 1.914±1.801 and 0.096±0.088 in the control group which had statistically significant difference (P<0.05,P<0.001).After treatment with rosiglitazone,the values were 2.3100±1.825 and 0.112±0.187 and were significantly different with those of the model group (P<0.05,P<0.001).Conclusion TGF-β 1 and CTGF play an important role in the development of ovary fibrosis in PCOS.However,RGZ may postpone the development of fibrosis by decreasing the levels of TGF-β 1 and CTGF. | MIAO Zhu Lin GUO Liang WANG Yong Xia CUI Rong YANG Ning HUANG Mi Qiong QIN Wei Bing CHEN Jin LI Hong Mei WANG Zi Neng WEI Xiang Cai | 2012 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,1: | 14 |
| 3 | Science Letters:IGFBP7 plays a potential tumor suppressor role against colorectal carcinogenesis with its expression associated with DNA hypomethylation of exon 1显示文摘Insulin-like growth factor binding-protein-7 (IGFBP7) was obtained from our previous colonic adenocarcinoma (CRC) and normal mucosa suppression subtraction hybridization (SSH) cDNA libraries. By RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry, we found that IGFBP7 was overexpressed in CRC tissue compared to normal tissue. However, our in vitro experiments performed in 10 CRC cell lines showed that IGFBP7 expressed only in SW480 and Caco2 cell lines, which implied an underlying reversible regulatory mechanism. Using methylation-specific PCR (MSP) and bisulfite sodium PCR (BSP), we found that its expression was associated with DNA hypomethylation of exon1. This was further supported by the in vitro study which showed restored IGFBP7 expression after demethylation agent 5-aza-2’-deoxycytidine treatment. Correlation analysis between IGFBP7 expression and prognosis indicated that overexpression of IGFBP7 in CRC tissue correlated with favourable survival. Investigation of the func-tional role of IGFBP7 through transfection studies showed that IGFBP7 protein could inhibit growth rate, decrease colony for-mation activity, and induce apoptosis in RKO and SW620 cells, suggesting it a potential tumor suppressor protein in colorectal carcinogenesis. | 6 | Hypoxia promotes pulmonary vascular remodeling via HIF-1α to regulate mitochondrial dynamics显示文摘Background Increasing research suggests that mitochondrial defect plays a major role in pulmonary hypertension(PH) pathogenesis. Mitochondrial dynamics and quality control have a central role in the maintenance of the cell proliferation and apoptosis balance. However, the molecular mechanism underlying of this balance is still unknown. Methods To clarify the biological effects of hypoxic air exposure and hypoxia-inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α) on pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cell(PASMC) and pulmonary arterial hypertension rats, the cells were cultured in a hypoxic chamber under oxygen concentrations. Cell viability, reactive oxygen species level, cell death, mitochondrial morphology, mitochondrial membrane potential, mitochondrial function and mitochondrial biosynthesis, as well as fission-and fusion-related proteins, were measured under hypoxic conditions. In addition, rats were maintained under hypoxic conditions, and the right ventricular systolic pressure, right ventricular hypertrophy index and right ventricular weight/body weight ratio were examined and recorded. Further, we assessed the role of HIF-1α in the development and progression of PH using HIF-1α gene knockdown using small interfering RNA transfection. Mdivi-1 treatment was performed before hypoxia to inhibit dynamin-related protein 1(Drp1). Results We found that HIF-1α expression was increased during hypoxia, which was crucial for hypoxia-induced mitochondrial dysfunction and hypoxia-stimulated PASMCs proliferation and apoptosis. We also found that targeting mitochondrial fission Drp1 by mitochondrial division inhibitor Mdivi-1 was effective in PH model rats. The results showed that mitochondrial dynamics were involved in the pulmonary vascular remodeling under hypoxia in vivo and in vitro. Furthermore, HIF-1α also modulated mitochondrial dynamics in pulmonary vascular remodeling under hypoxia through directly regulating the expression of Drp1. Conclusions In conclusion, our data suggests that abnormal mitochondrial dynamics could be a marker for the early diagnosis of PH and monitoring disease progression. | 8 | Combining Ability and Breeding Potential of Rapeseed Elite Lines for Pod Shatter Resistance显示文摘Pod shatter resistance of rapeseed is of great importance for modern farming practice. In order to determine the combining ability of elite inbred lines and the breeding potential of rapeseed hybrids in terms of pod shatter resistance, analysis of a 6×6 incomplete diallel cross was conducted at two locations. Results showed that a significant variation existed among breeding lines and their F1 hybrids for pod shatter resistant index (SRI), pod length and width. Pod shatter resistance was significantly positively correlated with pod length. The general combining ability (GCA) effects (GCA=1.58) played a more important role than specific combining ability (SCA) effects (SCA=0.20) for pod shatter trait. The elite lines R1, 1019B and 1055B displayed significant positive GCA effects for pod shatter resistance. | 10 | On-Farm Assessment of Biosolids Effects on Nitrogen and Phosphorus Accumulation in Soils显示文摘A field plot experiment in a calcareous soil with wheat and maize rotation was carried out for 2 yr. The study aimed to investigate the effects of biosolids (sewage sludge or chicken manure) application on nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) accumulation in soils and to develop a model for the effects of biosolids application on available P (Olsen-P) accumulation in soils, by which the quantities of biosolids that can be safely applied to agricultural soils were estimated. The results showed that heavy application of biosolids to agricultural soils based on the N requirement of a wheat-maize rotation cropping system will oversupply P. Soil total N was increased by 0.010 g kg-1 at application rate of 1 ton sewage sludge per hectare. The high ratio of N to P in grains of wheat and maize (from 4.0 to 7.6) and low ratio of N to P in biosolids (<2) led to more surplus P accumulated in soils. Although plant yields and P uptake by plants increased with increasing quantities of applied biosolids in soils, there was still an average 2.87 mg kg-1 increase in Olsen-P in the plough layer treated with biosolids for every 100 kg P ha-1 surplus. A predictive model was developed based upon the initial Olsen-P in soils, P input rates, crop yield, soil pH, and cultivation time. From the model, it is suggested that sewage sludge could be applied to calcareous soils for 12 yr using the recommended application rate (9 tons ha-1 yr-1). | 12 | Dark current mechanism of unpassivated mid wavelength type II InAs/GaSb superlattice infrared photodetector显示文摘We investigate the dark current mechanism for an unpassivated mid wavelength(MW) type II InAs/GaSb superlattice infrared photodetector by doing the variablearea diode tests. The bulk resistance-area product and the resistivity due to the surface current are determined to be17.72 X cm2 and 704.23 X cm at 77 K, respectively. It is found that for all the mesa sizes used, the dark current is dominated or predominated by the surface component, and with scaling back the mesa size, the surface current increases while the bulk component decreases. The activation energy is determined to be 145 meV for the temperature range around 140–280 K, while it is 6 meV when temperature is below 100 K. The result showed that 323 K was a significant turning point for the formation of hydrogen bond, and KGM and guaran gum were just juxtaposed together via intermolecular hydrogen bond; but with the addition of carrageenan, KGM, guaran gum and carrageenan were spirally twisted together, and when their blending proportion is 3:2:9 the combination was the most compact. | 16 | Urinary concentrations of phenols, oxidative stress biomarkers and thyroid cancer: Exploring associations and mediation effects显示文摘Phenols have been shown to influence the cellular proliferation and function of thyroid in experimental models. However, few human studies have investigated the association between phenol exposure and thyroid cancer, and the underlying mechanisms are also poorly understood. We conducted a case-control study by age- and sex-matching 143 thyroid cancer and 224 controls to investigate the associations between phenol exposures and the risk of thyroid cancer, and further to explore the mediating role of oxidative stress. We found that elevated urinary triclosan (TCS), bisphenol A (BPA) and bisphenol S (BPS) levels were associated with increased risk of thyroid cancer (all P for trends < 0.05), and the adjusted odds ratios (ORs) comparing the extreme exposure groups were 3.52 (95% confidence interval (CI):2.08, 5.95), 2.06 (95% CI: 1.06, 3.97) and 7.15 (95% CI: 3.12, 16.40), respectively. Positive associations were also observed between urinary TCS, BPA and BPS and three oxidative stress biomarkers measured by 8-hydroxy-2 -deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG), 8-iso-prostaglandin F(8-iso PGF) and 4-hydroxy-2-nonenal-mercapturic acid (HNE-MA), as well as between urinary 8-iso PGFand HNE-MA and the risk of thyroid cancer. Mediation analysis showed that urinary 8-iso PGFmediated 28.95%, 47.06% and 31.08% of the associations between TCS, BPA and BPS exposures and the risk of thyroid cancer, respectively (all P < 0.05). Our results suggest that exposure to TCS, BPA and BPS may be associated with increased risk of thyroid cancer and lipid peroxidation may be an intermediate mechanism. | 19 | OTUB1 promotes osteoblastic bone formation through stabilizing FGFR2显示文摘Bone homeostasis is maintained by the balance between osteoblastic bone formation and osteoclastic bone resorption.Dysregulation of this process leads to multiple diseases,including osteoporosis.However,the underlying molecular mechanisms are not fully understood.Here,we show that the global and conditional osteoblast knockout of a deubiquitinase Otub1 result in low bone mass and poor bone strength due to defects in osteogenic differentiation and mineralization.Mechanistically,the stability of FGFR2,a crucial regulator of osteogenesis,is maintained by OTUB1.OTUB1 attenuates the E3 ligase SMURF1-mediated FGFR2 ubiquitination by inhibiting SMURF1’s E2 binding.In the absence of OTUB1,FGFR2 is ubiquitinated excessively by SMURF1,followed by lysosomal degradation.Consistently,adeno-associated virus serotype 9(AAV9)-delivered FGFR2 in knee joints rescued the bone mass loss in osteoblast-specific Otub1-deleted mice.Moreover,Otub1 mRNA level was significantly downregulated in bones from osteoporotic mice,and restoring OTUB1 levels through an AAV9-delivered system in ovariectomy-induced osteoporotic mice attenuated osteopenia.Taken together,our results suggest that OTUB1 positively regulates osteogenic differentiation and mineralization in bone homeostasis by controlling FGFR2 stability,which provides an optical therapeutic strategy to alleviate osteoporosis. | Qiong Zhu Yesheng Fu Chun-Ping Cui Yi Ding Zhikang Deng Chao Ning Fan Hu Chen Qiu Biyue Yu Xuemei Zhou Guan Yang Jiang Peng Weiguo Zou Cui Hua Liu Lingqiang Zhang | 2023 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2023,8,5: | 1 |
| 20 | Refractive outcomes after vitrectomy combined with phacoemulsification of idiopathic macular holes显示文摘AIM:To report the refractive outcomes after vitrectomy combined with phacoemulsification and intraocular lens(IOL)implantation(phaco-vitrectomy)in idiopathic macular holes(IMH).METHODS:A total of 56 eyes with IMH(IMH group)that underwent phaco-vitrectomy and 44 eyes with age-related cataract(ARC group)that underwent cataract surgery were retrospectively reviewed.The best corrective visual acuity(BCVA),predicted refractive error(PRE),actual refractive error(ARE),axial length(AL),were measured in both groups before and 6 mo after operation.The power calculation of IOL and the predicted refractive error(PRE)were calculated according to the SRK/T formula.The difference of PRE and ARE between the two groups were compared and analyzed.RESULTS:In the IMH group,the diameters of macular holes were 271.73±75.85μm,the closure rate was 100%.The pre-and post-operative BCVA were 0.80±0.35 and 0.40±0.35 log MAR.The PRE of A-ultrasound and IOL Master in the IMH group was-0.27±0.25 and 0.10±0.66 D.The postoperative mean absolute prediction error(MAE)was observed to be 0.58±0.65 and 0.53±0.37 D in the IOL Master and A-ultrasound(P=0.758).The PRE and ARE of the IMH group were 0.10±0.66 D and-0.19±0.64 D(P=0.102).The PRE and ARE of the ARC group was-0.43±0.95 and-0.31±0.93 D(P=0.383).The difference between PRE and ARE was-0.33±0.81 and 0.09±0.64 D in the IMH and ARC groups(P=0.021).The proportion of myopic shift was 67.9%in the IMH group and 27.3%in the ARC group(P=0.004).CONCLUSION:The myopic shift can be observed in patients with IMH after phaco-vitrectomy. | Bo-Shi Liu Wei-Na Cui Rui Niu Qiong Chen Ze-Tong Nie Jiao-Ting Wei Bo-Jie Hu | 2021 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2021,14,2: | 1 |
