3Atmospheric particle-bound polycyclic aromatic compounds over two distinct sites in Pakistan:Characteristics,sources and health risk assessment显示文摘Much attention is drawn to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)as an air pollutant due to their toxic,mutagenic and carcinogenic properties.Therefore,to understand the levels,seasonality,sources and potential health risk of PAHs in two distinct geographical locations at Karachi and Mardan in Pakistan,total suspended particle(TSP)samples were collected for over one year period.The average total PAH concentrations were 31.5±24.4 and 199±229 ng/m^(3) in Karachi and Mardan,respectively.The significantly lower concentration in Karachi was attributed to diffusion and dilution of the PAHs by the influence of clean air mass from the Arabian sea and high temperature,enhancing the volatilization of the particle phase PAHs to the gas phase.Conversely,the higher concentration(^(-)6 times)in Mardan was due to large influence from local and regional emission sources.A clear seasonality was observed at both the sites,with the higher values in winter and post-monsoon due to higher emissions and less scavenging,and lower values during monsoon season due to the dilution effect.Diagnostic ratios and principal component analysis indicated that PAHs in both sites originated from traffic and mixed combustion sources(fossil fuels and biomass).The average total Ba P equivalent concentrations(Ba P eq)in Karachi and Mardan were 3.26 and 34 ng/m^(3),respectively,which were much higher than the WHO guideline of 1 ng/m^(3).The average estimates of incremental lifetime cancer risk from exposure to airborne Ba P eq via inhalation indicated a risk to human health from atmospheric PAHs at both sites.Linda Maharjan Shichang Kang Lekhendra Tripathee Chaman Gul Huijun Zheng Quanlian Li Pengfei Chen Mukesh Rai Ewerton Santos 2022Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,2:2

12Regular diet is non-inferior to restricted diet after polypectomy with decreased hospitalization length of stay and cost:a randomized–controlled trial显示文摘Background There are no data comparing a regular diet with a restricted diet after endoscopic polypectomy in patients with colorectal polyps.The current guidelines also did not provide the detailed information of dietary patterns after polypectomy.In this study,we aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of different diets on post-polypectomy outcomes.Methods A total of 302 patients with colorectal polyps who underwent polypectomy were prospectively enrolled between March 2019 and December 2019 in Nanfang Hospital(Guangzhou,China).Enrolled patients were then randomly assigned to a regular diet group or a restricted diet group after polypectomy.The study is a non-inferior design and the primary end point was the post-operative adverse events(AE)rate.Secondary end points included length of stay(LOS)and hospitalization cost.Results Among all the included patients,148 patients received a restricted diet and 154 patients received a regular diet after polypectomy.A total of 376 polyps were removed,with 183 polyps in the restricted diet group and 193 polyps in the regular diet group.Shorter LOS(4.0±1.4 vs 4.8±1.7,P<0.001)and lower hospitalization costs(7,701.63±2,579.07 vs 8,656.05±3,138.53,P=0.001)were observed in the regular diet group.In particular,there was no significant difference in 3-day AE rates between the restricted diet and the regular diet group(1.35%[2/148]vs 2.60%[4/154],P=0.685).Subgroup analysis looking at the number of polyps removed in each patient and different treatmentmodalities also showed similar findings.Conclusion Regular diet should be recommended after polypectomy for polyps<20mm as it can shorten LOS and save hospitalization costs.Rong Huang Shaohui Huang Li Xu Rai Mandip Baomei Chen Jiayi Fan Yang Bai Yusi Wang Zelong Han Zhiqing Wang Side Liu Yue Li 2022Gastroenterology Report2022,10,1:0
13Targeted Search for Fast Radio Bursts with Nanshan 26m Radio Telescope显示文摘Fast radio bursts(FRBs)are radio transients that are bright and have short duration,with their physical mechanism not being fully understood.We conducted a targeted search for bursts from FRB 20201124A between 2021 June 2and July 20.High time-resolution data were collected for 104.5 hr using the ROACH2-based digital backend.We introduce the details of our FRB search pipeline which is based on HEIMDALL and FETCH.Testing of the injected mock FRBs search could help us better understand the performance of the pipelines,and improve the search algorithms and classifiers.To study the efficiency of our pipeline,5000 mock FRBs were injected into the data and searched using the pipeline.The results of the mock FRB search show that our pipeline can recover almost all(?90%)the injected mock FRBs above a signal-to-noise ratio(S/N)threshold of 15,and the performance is still acceptable(?80%)for injected S/Ns from 10 to 15.The recovery fraction displays relations with S/N,dispersion measure and pulse width.No bursts were detected from FRB 20201124A in the middle of 2021.The non-detection of FRB 20201124A may be due to its quiet phase window or no emission above the threshold of the Nanshan telescope.Jian-Wei Mao Jian-Ping Yuan Zhi-Gang Wen Jian Li Na Wang Pei Wang Rai Yuen Yu-Bin Wang Nan-Nan Zhai Zhi-Yong Liu Mao-Zheng Chen Guang-Hui Li 2022Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2022,22,6:0
14Carbonaceous aerosol transport from the Indo-Gangetic Plain to the Himalayas:Carbon isotope evidence and light absorption characteristics显示文摘The Indo-Gangetic Plain(IGP)is a major regional and global emitter of atmospheric pollutants,which adversely affect surrounding areas such as the Himalayas.We present a comprehensive dataset on carbonaceous aerosol(CA)composition,radiocarbon(D14C)-based source apportionment,and light absorption of total suspended particle(TSP)samples collected over a 3-year period from high-altitude Jomsom in the central Himalayas.The 3-year mean TSP,organic carbon(OC),and elemental carbon(EC)concentrations were 92.0±28.6,9.74±6.31,and 2.02±1.35 lg m^(3),respectively,with the highest concentrations observed during the pre-monsoon season,followed by the post-monsoon,winter,and monsoon seasons.The △^(14)C analysis revealed that the contribution of fossil fuel combustion(ffossil)to EC was 47.9%±11.5%,which is consistent with observations in urban and remote regions in South Asia and attests that EC likely arrives in Jomsom from upwind IGP sources via long-range transport.In addition,the lowest f_(fossil)(38.7%±13.3%)was observed in winter,indicating large contributions in this season from local biomass burning.The mass absorption cross-section of EC(MACEC:8.27±1.76 m^(2)/g)and watersoluble organic carbon(MACWSOC:0.98±0.45 m^(2)/g)were slightly higher and lower than those reported in urban regions,respectively,indicating that CA undergo an aging process.Organic aerosol coating during transport and variation of biomass burning probably led to the seasonal variation in MAC of two components.Overall,WSOC contributed considerably to the light absorption(11.1%±4.23%)of EC.The findings suggest that to protect glaciers of the Himalayas from pollution-related melting,it is essential to mitigate emissions from the IGP.Pengfei Chen Shichang Kang Chaoliu Li Zhaofu Hu Lekhendra Tripathee Mukesh Rai Tao Pu Xiufeng Yin Örjan Gustafsson 2023Geoscience Frontiers2023,14,2:0
15Influence of South Asian Biomass Burning on Ozone and Aerosol Concentrations Over the Tibetan Plateau显示文摘In this work,the influence of South Asian biomass burning emissions on O_(3) and PM_(2.5)concentrations over the Tibetan Plateau(TP)is investigated by using the regional climate chemistry transport model WRF-Chem.The simulation is validated by comparing meteorological fields and pollutant concentrations against in situ observations and gridded datasets,providing a clear perspective on the spatiotemporal variations of O_(3) and PM_(2.5)concentrations across the Indian subcontinent,including the Tibetan Plateau.Further sensitivity simulations and analyses show that emissions from South Asian biomass burning mainly affect local O_(3) concentrations.For example,contribution ratios were up to 20%in the Indo-Gangetic Plain during the pre-monsoon season but below 1%over the TP throughout the year 2016.In contrast,South Asian biomass burning emissions contributed more than 60%of PM_(2.5)concentration over the TP during the pre-monsoon season via significant contribution of primary PM_(2.5)components(black carbon and organic carbon)in western India that were lofted to the TP by westerly winds.Therefore,it is suggested that cutting emissions from South Asian biomass burning is necessary to alleviate aerosol pollution over the TP,especially during the pre-monsoon season.Junhua YANG Shichang KANG Yuling HU Xintong CHEN Mukesh RAI 2022Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2022,39,7:0
16A Search Technique Based on Deep Learning for Fast Radio Bursts and Initial Results for FRB 20201124A with the NSRT显示文摘The origin and phenomenology of Fast Radio Bursts(FRBs) remain unknown. Fast and efficient search technology for FRBs is critical for triggering immediate multi-wavelength follow-up and voltage data dump. This paper proposes a dispersed dynamic spectra search(DDSS) pipeline for FRB searching based on deep learning, which performs the search directly from observational raw data, rather than relying on generated FRB candidates from single-pulse search algorithms that are based on de-dispersion. We train our deep learning network model using simulated FRBs as positive and negative samples extracted from the observational data of the Nanshan 26 m radio telescope(NSRT)at Xinjiang Astronomical Observatory. The observational data of PSR J1935+1616 are fed into the pipeline to verify the validity and performance of the pipeline. Results of the experiment show that our pipeline can efficiently search single-pulse events with a precision above 99.6%, which satisfies the desired precision for selective voltage data dump. In March 2022, we successfully detected the FRBs emanating from the repeating case of FRB 20201124A with the DDSS pipeline in L-band observations using the NSRT. 17Investigation of Mode Changing,Pulse Nulling and Subpulse Drifting Properties in the Asymmetric Conal Triple Radio Pulsar B2319+60显示文摘We report on a detailed analysis of the mode changing,nulling and subpulse drifting behavior of the conal triple pulsar B2319+60 at 1.5 GHz observed with the Nanshan 25 m radio telescope.The pulsar’s profile can be interpreted as resulting from a sightline traverse which cuts across an outer cone and tangentially grazes an inner cone.About 30 per cent of nulls are found to create alternating bunches of nulls and emission in a quasi-periodic manner with an averaged fluctuation rate of about four rotation periods(P_(1)).The presence of two distinct drift modes(A and ABN)plus a phase-stationary non-drift emission mode(B)is confirmed,and each corresponds to a different pulse profile.The mode A is dominated by a phase modulation in the trailing component with a circulation time of around 7P_(1).In addition to a 3P_(1)phase modulation in the leading component,mode ABN presents an amplitude modulation in the leading and trailing components with a period of around 40P_(1).The emission region and geometry remain constant during mode changing.The diversity seen in the individual pulse behavior of the pulsar B2319+60 provides a unique window into the emission physics.Jian-Ling Chen Zhi-Gang Wen Hong-Guang Wang Na Wang Rai Yuen Vishal Gajjar Jian-Ping Yuan Zhen Wang Wen-Ming Yan Jin-Peng Wang Cheng-Bing Lyu Hui Wang Xue-Feng Duan 2022Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2022,22,11:0
