1Arabidopsis ROOT HAIR DEFECTIVE3 is involved in nitrogen starvation-induced anthocyanin accumulation显示文摘Anthocyanin accumulation is a common phenomenon seen in plants under environmental stress. In this study,we identified a new allele of ROOT HAIR DEFECTIVE3(RHD3)showing an anthocyanin overaccumulation phenotype under nitrogen starvation conditions. It is known that ethylene negatively regulates light- and sucrose-induced anthocyanin biosynthesis. We hypothesized that RHD3 achieves its negative effect on anthocyanin biosynthesis via an ethylene-regulating pathway. In support of this, similar to rhd3 mutants, the Arabidopsis ethylene signaling mutants etr1, ein2, and ein3/eil1 showed an anthocyanin overaccumulation phenotype under nitrogen starvation conditions. The ethylene precursor ACC strongly suppressed anthocyanin accumulation, dependent on ETR1, EIN2, EIN3/EIL1, and, partially, RHD3. In addition,inactivating RHD3 partially reversed the suppressive effect of ETO1 inactivation-evoked endogenous ethylene production on anthocyanin accumulation. The expression of nitrogen starvation-induced anthocyanin biosynthesis genes was negatively regulated by RHD3, but ethylene response genes were Researchpositively regulated by RHD3. Wild-type seedlings overexpressing RHD3 showed similar phenotypes to rhd3 mutants,indicating the existence of a fine-tuned relationship between gene expression and function. RHD3 was initially identified as a gene involved in root hair development. 2Environmental pollution by persistent toxic substances and health risk in an industrial area of China显示文摘Soil is an important environmental medium that is closely associated with humans and their health.Despite this,very few studies have measured toxicants in soils,and associated them with health risks in humans.An assessment of health effects from exposure to contaminants in soils surrounding industrial areas of chemical production and storage is important.This article aims at determining pollution characteristics of persistent toxic substances (PTS) in an industrial area in China to unravel the relationship between soil pollution by PTS and human health.One hundred and five soil samples were collected and 742 questionnaires were handed out to residents living in and around an industrial area around Bohai Bay,Tianjin in Northern China.Concentrations of organochlorine pesticides and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were determined in soil.Mann-Whitney U and binary multivariate non-conditional logistic regression models were employed to analyze the relationship between health indicators of local residents and contaminant levels.Odds ratio (OR) and a 95% confidence interval (CI) for health incidences were also calculated.The average concentrations of DDT (73.9 ng/g),HCH (654 ng/g) and PAHs (1225 ng/g) were relatively high in the industrial area.Residents living in the chemical industry parks were exposed to a higher levels of PTS than those living outside the chemical industry parks.This exposure was associated with a higher risk of breast cancer (OR 1.87,95% CI 0.12-30.06),stomach cancer (OR 1.87,95% CI 0.26-13.41),dermatitis (OR 1.72,95% CI 1.05-2.80),gastroenteritis (OR 1.59,95% CI 0.94-2.68),and pneumonia (OR 1.05,95% CI 0.58-1.89).Jing Li Yonglong Lu Yajuan Shi Tieyu Wang Guang Wang Wei Luo Wentao Jiao Chunli Chen Feng Yan 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,8:3
3AtPEPTIDE RECEPTOR_2 mediates the AtPEPTIDE1‐induced cytosolic Ca^(2+) trise, which is required for the suppression of Glutamine Dumper gene expression in Arabidopsis roots显示文摘AtPEPTIDE RECEPTOR2(AtPEPR2) is a member of leucine‐rich repeat receptor‐like kinase family and binds to a group of AtPROPEP gene‐encoded endogenous peptides,AtPeps. Previously, we found that AtPEPR2 plays a moderate role in the AtPep1‐mediated innate immunity responses in Arabidopsis leaf. In this study, we found that AtPEPR2promoter has strong activity in the vascular tissues of the roots and the atpepr2 mutants showed a moderate but significantly shorter root phenotype. AtPEPR2 partially mediated AtPep1‐induced root elongation inhibition. AtPep1‐triggered cytosolic Ca2ttransient rise in roots showed partial dependence on AtPEPR2 and fully on extracellular Ca2t([Ca2t]ext). Transcriptional profiling analysis found that expression of 75% of AtPep1‐modulated genes in roots was fully dependent on AtPEPR2, of which two dramatically induced genes showed partial dependence on the [Ca2t]ext.Arabidopsis genome contains seven Glutamine Dumpers genes(AtGDUs), encoding amino acid exporters. Three of them(AtGDU2, 3, 5) were among the top 10 genes that were downregulated by AtPep1 through AtPEPR2 fully dependent pathway. Treatment with AtPep1 strongly suppressed promoter activity of AtGDU3 in roots, which was relieved by chelating [Ca2t]ext. Arabidopsis overexpressing AtGDU3showed a shorter root phenotype and decreased sensitivity to the AtPep1‐mediated inhibition of root elongation. 4Hierarchical Micropore/Nanorod Apatite Hybrids In-Situ Grown from 3-D Printed Macroporous Ti6Al4V Implants with Improved Bioactivity and Osseointegration显示文摘The advent of three-dimensional(3-D) printed technique provides great possibility in the fabrication of customized porous titanium(Ti) implant. However, the bioinert property of the printed Ti poses an outstanding problem. Hybrid micro-arc oxidation and hydrothermal(MAO–HT) treatment on porous metals is able to produce multi-scaled hierarchical orthopedic implant, showing great potential for surface modification of 3-D printed implant. In this study, cylindrical porous Ti6Al4V(Ti64) scaffolds with pore size of 640 μm, porosity of 73% were 3-D printed by electron beam melting process, and their surfaces were left untreated or treated by a combined MAO–HT procedure. In vitro bioactivity was tested by immersion in simulated body fluid for different time points. Then, 12 scaffolds in each group were implanted into the femoral condyles of New Zealand rabbit for 8 weeks. Osseointegration was evaluated by qualitative and quantitative histological analysis, and the bone ingrowth features were probed by sequential fluorescent labeling at 3 and 6 weeks post-surgery. Following the MAO–HT treatment, the porous Ti64 scaffold was endowed with multi-scaled micro/nano-topographies and high amounts of Ca P on its surface.The treated scaffold exhibited drastically enhanced apatite forming ability compared with the untreated one. In vivo test revealed significantly that a higher amount of bone ingrowth and bone implant contact at the treated scaffold. The 2 types of scaffolds had different patterns of bone ingrowth: the treated scaffold exhibited a pattern of contact osteogenesis, by which bone formed directly on the treated implant surface, whereas bone formed distal to the implant surface of the untreated scaffold. 5Psychometric properties of the Chinese version of the Infertility Self-Efficacy Scale显示文摘Objective:To translate the English version of Infertility Self-Efficacy Scale into Chinese and to validate the psychometric properties of the Chinese version of the Infertility Self-Efficacy Scale(CISE).Method(s):Participants were recruited from the Gynecology Department of two city hospitals.Five main processes were involved in the formation of CISE[1]:scale translation based on expert consultation[2];pre-test questionnaire development with infertile women's feedback(N=20)[3];factor structure assessed by exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis(N=177)[4];assessment of reliability by internal consistency(N=177)and test-retest reliability(N=21);and[5]assessment of convergent validity with Self-rating Anxiety Scale,Self-rating Depression Scale,and Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(N=177).Results:This study established a 16-item CISE.Factor analyses confirmed a onecomponent solution,which explained 54.59% of total variances and showed an acceptable model fit.Cronbach's a and test-retest correlation coefficients for the scale were 0.94 and 0.84,respectively.The CISE score was significantly correlated with anxiety(r=0.47),depression(r=0.60),positive coping style(r=0.37),and certain negative coping style items.Conclusion:This 16-item CISE is a reliable and valid measure to evaluate perceived selfefficacy among a sample of Chinese women who underwent infertility treatment.Bing Fu Pingping Yan Hang Yin Shujuan Zhu Qing Liu Yulan Liu Chanyuan Dai Guanxiu Tang Chunli Yan Jun Lei 2016International Journal of Nursing Sciences2016,3,3:2

7Optimal time for subarachnoid transplantation of neural progenitor cells in the treatment of contusive spinal cord injury显示文摘This study aimed to identify the optimal neural progenitor cell transplantation time for spinal cord injury in rats via the subarachnoid space. Cultured neural progenitor cells from 14-day embryonic rats, constitutively expressing enhanced green fluorescence protein, or media alone, were injected into the subarachnoid space of adult rats at 1 hour (acute stage), 7 days (subacute stage) and 28 days (chronic stage) after contusive spinal cord injury. Results showed that grafted neural progenitor cells migrated and aggregated around the blood vessels of the injured region, and infiltrated the spinal cord parenchyma along the tissue spaces in the acute stage transplantation group. However, this was not observed in subacute and chronic stage transplantation groups. O4- and glial fibrillary acidic protein-positive cells, representing oligodendrocytes and astrocytes respectively, were detected in the core of the grafted cluster attached to the cauda equina pia surface in the chronic stage transplantation group 8 weeks after transplantation. Both acute and subacute stage transplantation groups were negative for O4 and glial fibrillary acidic protein cells. Basso, Beattie and Bresnahan scale score comparisons indicated that rat hind limb locomotor activity showed better recovery after acute stage transplantation than after subacute and chronic transplantation. Our experimental findings suggest that the subarachnoid route could be useful for transplantation of neural progenitor cells at the acute stage of spinal cord injury. Although grafted cells survived only for a short time and did not differentiate into astrocytes or neurons, they were able to reach the parenchyma of the injured spinal cord and improve neurological function in rats. 8Capacity Maximization Based Power Loading Analysis for Digital Channelized Satcom Systems显示文摘For digital channelized frequency division multiple access based satellite communication(SATCOM) systems,it is a challenging but critical issue to improve the transponder power and spectrum efficiency simultaneously under limited and non-linear high-power amplifier conditions.In this paper,different from the traditional link supportability designs aiming at minimizing the total transponder output power,a maximal sum Shannon capacity optimization objective is firstly raised subject to link supportability constraints.Furthermore,an efficient multilevel optimization(MO) algorithm is proposed to solve the considered optimization problem in the case of single link for each terminal.Moreover,in the case of multiple links for one terminal,an improved MO algorithm involving Golden section and discrete gradient searching procedures is proposed to optimize power allocation over all links.Finally,several numerical results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposals.Comparison results show that,by the MO algorithm,not only all links' supportability can be guaranteed but also a larger sum capacity can be achieved with lower complexity.YAN Jian CHEN Xiang LIU Chunli 2015China Communications2015,12,5:2
9Studies on the Attached Cultivation of Filamentous Oleaginous Microalga Tribonema minus显示文摘Attached cultivation is a promising method for microalgal biomass production. Filamentous oleaginous microalga Tribonema minus(hereafter T. minus) has shown a remarkable potential for biofuel production in terms of its high lipid content. However, the strain has only been cultivated in suspended cultivation systems including open pond and closed photobioreactors. Here, we attempted to study the attached cultivation of T. minus, which might be helpful for its scale-up cultivation and industrial applications. As the results, the optimal conditions for T. minus growth in the attached biofilm are 200 μmol photons m^-2 s^-1 of light intensity and 5% of CO2, and the maximum biomass density of 223 g m^-2 has been achieved under the light intensity. The non-woven fabric as substratum was found as the best substratum in thin layer attached bioreactor, on which the average biomass productivity of T. minus is about(9.73 ± 2.19) g m^-2)d^-1. Furthermore, two attached bioreactor systems, rotary drum and rotation disc, were designed following the light dilution strategy and introduced into T. minus cultivation. The highest footprint areal biomass productivity of these two systems is 33 and 47.1 g m^-2 d^-1, respectively, much higher than that in suspended cultivation system. 13Adaptation and mitigation for combating climate change - from singletojoint显示文摘Introduction:Adaptation and mitigation are two main approaches to combating climate change.Mitigation is considered as the most important tasks in dealing with climate change in scientific res earch,financial support and technical practices as global warming intensifes;while currently the warming trend still cannot be reversed,and adaptation task seemed to gain urgency although it is late-starting.The synergies and tradeoffs of these two strategies revealed increasingly importance on reduding adverse dimate effects.Research on synergistic relationships has developed from definition and feasible analysis,to the development of quantitative tools and exploration in practice and application,though the latter aspect is still in its initial stage.Outcomes/other.Our review shows that the traits of mitigation and adaptation,the difer-ences and similarities between them,then ilustrate the significance and mechanism of their synergies and tradeoffs.And it is explained that methods and applications of single and integrated models,and cost-effectiveness analysis.Discussion/Conclusion:We hold the opinion that the future research and applications should be enhanced in terms of four aspects:reinforcement of interrelations and common mecha nisms between mitigation and adaptation actions study;building and improving the monitoring and evaluating systems;promoting departmental and regional scale investiga-tions and applications;and establishing policy and security systems.Chunli Zhao Yan Yan Chenxing Wang Mingfang Tang Gang Wu Ding Ding Yang Song 2018Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2018,4,4:1

17Influence of nozzle height to width ratio on ignition and NOx emission characteristics of semicoke/bituminous coal blends in a 300 kW pulverized coal-fired furnace显示文摘To improve the ignition behavior and to reduce the high NOx emissions of blended pulverized fuels(PF)of semicoke(SC),large-scale experiments were conducted in a 300 kW fired furnace at various nozzle settings,i.e.,ratios(denoted by hf/b)of the height of the rectangular burner nozzle to its width of 1.65,2.32,and 3.22.The combustion tests indicate that the flame stability,ignition performance,and fuel burnout ratio were significantly improved at a nozzle setting of hf/b=2.32.The smaller hf/b delayed ignition and caused the flame to concentrate excessively on the axis of the furnace,while the larger hf/b easily caused the deflection of the pulverized coal flame,and a high-temperature flame zone emerged close to the furnace wall.NOx emissions at the outlet of the primary zone decreased from 447 to 354 mg/m3(O2=6%),and the ignition distance decreased from 420 to 246 mm when the hf/b varied from 1.65 to 3.22.Furthermore,the ratio(denoted by SR/SC)of the strong reduction zone area to the combustion reaction zone area was defined experimentally by the CO concentration to evaluate the reduction zone.The SR/SC rose monotonously,but its restraining effects on NOx formation decreased as hf/b increased.The results suggested that in a test furnace,regulating the nozzle hf/b conditions sharply reduces NOx emissions and improves the combustion efficiency of SC blends possessing an appropriate jet rigidity.Liutao SUN Yonghong YAN Rui SUN Zhengkang PENG Chunli XING Jiangquan WU 2021Frontiers in Energy2021,15,2:1
18Use of RNAi silencing to target preconditioned glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor in neuronal apoptosis显示文摘Several studies have suggested that exogenous glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor may pro-tect neurons from cerebral ischemic injury. However, the mechanisms underlying the neuroprotec-tive effects of endogenous glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor remain unclear. The present experiments sought to elucidate the influence of various conditioned media on neuronal apoptosis, using a normal culture medium for astrocytes, an astrocyte medium highly expressing glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor, and an astrocyte medium in which glial cell line-derived neurotro-phic factor expression was silenced using RNAi technology. The results confirmed that the use of RNAi silencing to target pretreated glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor expression promoted neuronal apoptosis.
