Fractionation characteristics of rare earth elements(REEs) linked with secondary Fe, Mn, and Al minerals in soils显示文摘Soil secondary minerals are important scavengers of rare earth elements(REEs) in soils and thus affect geochemical behavior and occurrence of REEs. The fractionation of REEs is a common geochemical phenomenon in soils but has received little attention, especially fractionation induced by secondary minerals. In this study, REEs(La to Lu and Y) associated with soil-abundant secondary minerals Fe-, Al-, and Mn-oxides in 196 soil samples were investigated to explore the fractionation and anomalies of REEs related to the minerals. The results show right-inclined chondrite-normalized REE patterns for La–Lu in soils subjected to total soil digestion and partial soil extraction. Light REEs(LREEs) enrichment features were negatively correlated with a Eu anomaly and positively correlated with a Ce anomaly. The fractionation between LREEs and heavy REEs(HREEs) was attributed to the high adsorption affinity of LREEs to secondary minerals and the preferred activation/leaching of HREEs.The substantial fractions of REEs in soils extracted byoxalate and Dithionite-Citrate-Bicarbonate buffer solutions were labile(10 %–30 %), which were similar to the mass fraction of Fe(10 %–20 %). Furthermore, Eu was found to be more mobile than the other REEs in the soils, whereas Ce was less mobile. These results add to our understanding of the distribution and geochemical behavior of REEs in soils, and also help to deduce the conditions of soil formation from REE fractionation.Chunying Chang Fangbai Li Chengshuai Liu Jianfeng Gao Hui Tong Manjia Chen 2016Acta Geochimica2016,35,4:5
In situ observation of C_(60)(C(COOH)_(2))_(2) interacting with living cells using fluorescence microscopy显示文摘The interactions between nanoparticles and living cells were investigated by an imaging technique of fluorescence microscopy. For this pur- pose, the C60 derivative C60(C(COOH)2)2, a thera- peutic agent for degeneration diseases of central nervous system, was synthesized, purified and characterized. Its interaction with the living cell and penetration of the cellular membrane were in situ studied using the real time imaging technique, and its potential cytotoxicity was also examined by flow cy- tometry. The results indicate that C60(C(COOH)2)2 can easily enter cells, and is mainly located in cytoplasm by fluorescein labeling. Furthermore, C60(C(COOH)2)2 can carry the molecule that cannot cross cellular membranes into cells, because fluo- rescein compound itself cannot enter the cell or ad- here to membrane. At concentrations ranging from 1×10?2 to 1×102 mg/L, C60(C(COOH)2)2 does not show any detectable cytotoxicity.YE Chang CHEN Chunying CHEN Zhen MENG Huan XING Li JIANG Yaxin YUAN Hui XING Gengmei ZHAO Feng ZHAO Yuliang CHAI Zhifang FANG Xiaohong HAN Dong CHEN Long WANG Chen WEI Taotao 2006Chinese Science Bulletin2006,51,9:4
Stable isotope labeling of nanomaterials for biosafety evaluation and drug development显示文摘Quantitative information, such as environmental migration, absorption, biodistribution, biotransformation, and elimination,is fundamental and essential for the nanosafety evaluations of nanomaterials.Due to the complexity of biological and environmental systems,it is challenging to develop quantitative approaches and tools that could characterize intrinsic behaviors of nanomaterials in the organisms. The isotopic tracers are ideal candidates to tune the physical properties of nanomaterials while preserving their chemical properties. In this review article,we summarized the stable isotope labeling methods of nanomaterials for evaluating their environmental and biological effects. The skeleton labeling protocols of carbon nanomaterials and metal/metal oxide nanoparticles were introduced. The advantages and disadvantages of stable isotope labeling were discussed in comparison with other quantitative methods for nanomaterials. The quantitative information of nanomaterials in environmental and biological systems was summarized along with the biosafety data. The benefits for drug development of nanomedicine were analyzed based on the targeting effects, persistent accumulation, and safety. Finally, the challenges and future perspectives of stable isotope labeling in nanoscience and nanotechnology were discussed.Xue-Ling Chang Lingyun Chen Boning Liu Sheng-Tao Yang Haifang Wang Aoneng Cao Chunying Chen 2022Chinese Chemical Letters2022,33,7:2

Basic fibroblast growth factor improves learning and memory deficits in a mouse model of vascular dementia: Associated with the role of free radicals clearance?显示文摘BACKGROUND:Basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF) exhibits neuroprotective functions, but the possible mechanisms of bFGF on vascular dementia remain unclear.OBJECTIVE:To explore the neuroprotective effects of bFGF on a mouse model of vascular dementia, with focus on oxidative damage.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:A randomized, controlled, animal experiment was performed at the Medical College of Beihua University from March to December 2008.MATERIALS:bFGF was purchased from Peprotech,USA.METHODS:A total of 80 healthy,Kunming mice were randomly assigned to control,sham-surgery,model,and bFGF groups. The model and bFGF groups were used to establish vascular dementia models by repetitive cerebral ischemia-reperfusion in a conscious state. In addition,bFGF group mice were intraperitoneally injected with bFGF(100 μg/kg) following model establishment, once a day for 7 consecutive days.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:The Morris water maze was used to determine the influence of bFGF on learning and memory abilities in vascular dementia mice. The pathomorphological changes in hippocampal CA1 neurons were observed by Nissl staining.Superoxide dismutase and malondialdehyde changes were analyzed using biochemical analysis methods.Annexin V-FITC/PI-double-labeled flow cytometry was used to detect neuronal apoptosis.RESULTS:Learning and memory functions in model mice significantly decreased,as characterized by prolonged latency and reduced time and number of platform crossings(P < 0.01,P < 0.05).Superoxide dismutase activity was significantly reduced, malondialdehyde content was significantly increased(P < 0.01),and hippocampal neuronal apoptosis was increased(P < 0.01) following vascular dementia.bFGF increased superoxide dismutase activity, decreased malondialdehyde content, and reduced hippocampal neuronal apoptosis(P < 0.01),which resulted in improved learning and memory in mice with vascular dementia.CONCLUSION:bFGF improved learning and memory deficits in mice with vascular dementia by reducing free radical injury and inhibiting hippocampal neuronal apoptosis.Xian Qu Chunying Li Chang Su Bing Li Liying Wang 2010Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,13:1
Basic fibroblast growth factor improves learning and memory functions in chronic stress mice显示文摘Four weeks of uncertain stress was used to establish an animal model of chronic stress. Basic fibroblast growth factor was injected daily for 15 days following stress induction. Cell morphology in the hippocampal CA3 region of chronic stress mice revealed cell damage. Nitric oxide content and calcium concentration were significantly increased in the hippocampus, and learning and memory functions were significantly decreased. After basic fibroblast growth factor intervention, Ca2+ overload was decreased and neuronal damage was relieved in hippocampal neurons, which improved learning and memory functions in chronic stress mice. Latency was prolonged and the number of errors was decreased in a passive avoidance test.Xian Qu Chunying Li Hongchang Liu Chang Su 2011Neural Regeneration Research2011,6,19:0
An Affective EEG Analysis Method Without Feature Engineering显示文摘Emotional electroencephalography(EEG)signals are a primary means of recording emotional brain activity.Currently, the most effective methods for analyzing emotional EEG signals involve feature engineering and neural networks. However, neural networks possess a strong ability for automatic feature extraction. Is it possible to discard feature engineering and directly employ neural networks for end-to-end recognition?Based on the characteristics of EEG signals, this paper proposes an end-to-end feature extraction and classification method for a dynamic self-attention network(DySAT).The study reveals significant differences in brain activity patterns associated with different emotions across various experimenters and time periods. The results of this experiment can provide insights into the reasons behind these differences.Jian Zhang Chunying Fang Yanghao Wu Mingjie Chang 2024Journal of Electronic Research and Application2024,8,1:0
