| 6 | CapOX as neoadjuvant chemotherapy for locally advanced operable colon cancer patients: a prospective single-arm phase Ⅱ trial显示文摘Objective: The aim of this prospective, single-arm phase II trial was to confirm the safety and efficacy of neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NAC) using oxaliplatin plus capecitabine(Cap OX) for patients with operable locally advanced colon cancer(CC).Methods: Patients with computed tomography-defined T4 or lymph node-positive CCs were enrolled. After radiological staging, patients were treated with at least 2 cycles of NAC consisting of 130 mg/m2 oxaliplatin on d 1,plus 1,000 mg/m2 capecitabine twice daily for 14 d every 3 weeks, followed by surgery, and then with the rest cycles of adjuvant chemotherapy. Radiological response was evaluated after 2 cycles of NAC. Tumor response, treatment toxicity, and surgical complications were recorded. The pathological response to therapy was evaluated according to the tumor regression grade(TRG) score. The primary endpoint was pathologic tumor response. This trial is registered in Clinical Trials.gov(No: NCT02415829).Results: Forty-seven patients were enrolled in the study. Forty-two patients completed the planned treatments.The total radiological response rate was 68%(32/47), including complete and partial response rates of 2%(1/47)and 66%(31/47), respectively. Stable disease was observed in 32%(15/47) and progressive disease was observed in none. Complete pathologic response, major regression, and at least moderate regression were achieved in 1(2%), 2(4%), and 29(62%) patients, respectively. Four patients developed grade 3 treatment toxicities. One patient with wound infection occurred after operation(1/47, 2%). | 7 | A draft sequence of the rice (Oryza sativa ssp. indica) genome显示文摘The sequence of the rice genome holds fundamental information for its biology, including physiology, genetics, development, and evolution, as well as information on many beneficial phenotypes of economic significance. Using a 'whole genome shotgun' approach, we have pro-duced a draft rice genome sequence of Oryza sativa ssp. in-dica, the major crop rice subspecies in China and many other regions of Asia. The draft genome sequence is constructed from over 4.3 million successful sequencing traces with an accumulative total length of 2214.9 Mb. The initial assembly of the non-redundant sequences reached 409.76 Mb in length, based on 3.30 million successful sequencing traces with a total length of 1797.4 Mb from an indica variant cultivar 93-11, giving an estimated coverage of 95.29% of the rice genome with an average base accuracy of higher than 99%. | 10 | A family of high-temperature ferromagnetic monolayers with locked spin-dichroism-mobility anisotropy: MnNX and CrCX(X=Cl,Br,I;C=S,Se,Te)显示文摘Two-dimensional magnets have received increasing attention since Cr_2Ge_2Te_6 and CrI_3 were experimentally exfoliated and measured in 2017. Although layered ferromagnetic metals were demonstrated at room temperature, a layered ferromagnetic semiconductor with high Curie temperature(Tc) is yet to be unveiled. Here, we theoretically predicted a family of high Tcferromagnetic monolayers, namely MnNX and CrCX(X = Cl, Br and I; C = S, Se and Te). Their Tcvalues were predicted from over 100 K to near 500 K with Monte Carlo simulations using an anisotropic Heisenberg model. Eight members among them show semiconducting bandgaps varying from roughly 0.23 to 1.85 eV. These semiconducting monolayers also show extremely large anisotropy, i.e. ~10~1 for effective masses and ~10~2 for carrier mobilities, along the two in-plane lattice directions of these layers. | 11 | Machine-learning-assisted prediction of the mechanical properties of Cu–Al alloy显示文摘The machine-learning approach was investigated to predict the mechanical properties of Cu–Al alloys manufactured using the powder metallurgy technique to increase the rate of fabrication and characterization of new materials and provide physical insights into their properties.Six algorithms were used to construct the prediction models, with chemical composition and porosity of the compacts chosen as the descriptors.The results show that the sequential minimal optimization algorithm for support vector regression with a puk kernel(SMOreg/puk) model demonstrated the best prediction ability. Specifically, its predictions exhibited the highest correlation coefficient and lowest error among the predictions of the six models. The SMOreg/puk model was subsequently applied to predict the tensile strength and hardness of Cu–Al alloys and provide guidance for composition design to achieve the expected values. Moreover, cancer patients easily run into fever and neutropenia induced by myelosuppression. Therefore, antibiotics are used extensively and even overused in many conditions. However, because of the special anatomical location of the gastrointestinal tract, the antibiotic usage will bring changes to the intestinal flora. Besides, with the expanding popularity of immunotherapy, various factors affecting the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have been extensively explored, including cancer-associated inflammation and the local and systemic factors that lead to immunosuppression. Some biomarkers for ICIs, including the expression of PD-L1, tumor mutation load, and microbiota, also have been investigated, and many studies have confirmed that gut microbiota can affect the efficacy of immunotherapy. But further studies on the influence of antibiotics directly on immunotherapy are rare. | 19 | Effect of Shenmai Injection on Long-Term Prognosis of Patients with Chronic Heart Failure:A Multicenter,Large Sample Capacity,Long-Term Follow-Up Retrospective Cohort Study显示文摘Objective:To explore the effect of Shenmai Injection(SMI)on the long-term prognosis of patients with chronic heart failure(CHF).Methods:The Hospital Information System was used to extract data of CHF patients,and the retrospective cohort study was conducted for analysis.In non-exposed group,standardized Western medicine treatment and Chinese patent medicine or decoction were applied without combination of SMI while in the exposed group,SMI were applied for more than 7 days.Evaluation indicators are followed with New York Heart Association functional classification(NYHA classification),left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF),N-terminal brain natriuretic peptide precursor(NT-ProBNP),cardiogenic death and heart failure(HF)readmission.Statistical analysis includes Kaplan-Meier analysis and Cox regression which are used to explore the relationship between SMI and outcome events.Results:A total of 1,211 eligible CHF patients were involved and finally 1,047 patients were followed up successfully.After treatment,the cases of NYHA classification decline in the exposed and non-exposed groups accounted for 64.30%and 43.45%,respectively;the improvement values of LVEF were 8.89%and 7.91%,respectively;the improvement values of NT-ProBNP were 909 pg/mL and 735 pg/mL,respectively.After exposure on SMI,the rates of cardiogenic death and HF readmission reduced from 15.43%to 10.18%and 38.93%to 32.37%.According to Kaplan-Meier analysis,the log-rank P value of SMI and cardiogenic death was 0.014,while the counterpart of SMI and HF readmission was 0.025.Cox regression analysis indicated that for cardiogenic death,age,cardiomyopathy,diabetes,and NYHA classification were risk factors whileβ-blockers,aldosterone receptor antagonists,Chinese patent medicine/decoction and SMI were protective factors.Likewise,for HF readmission,age,cardiomyopathy,and NYHA classification were risk factors while SMI was a protective factor.Conclusion:Combination with SMI on the standardized Western medicine treatment can effectively reduce cardiogenic mortality and readmission rate in CHF patients,and thereby improve the long-term prognosis. | GUAN Hui DAI Guo-hua GAO Wu-lin ZHANG Tong SUN Cong REN Li-li HOU Xiao-ming LIU Zhang | 2022 | Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2022,28,4: | 2 |
| 20 | Assessment of liver volume variation to evaluate liver function显示文摘In order to assess the value of liver volumetry in cirrhosis and acute liver failure(ALF)patients,we explored the correlation between hepatic volume and severity of the hepatic diseases.The clinical data of 48 cirrhosis patients with 60 normal controls and 39 ALF patients were collected.Computed tomography-derived liver volume(CTLV)and body surface area(BSA)of normal controls were calculated to get a regression formula for standard liver volume(SLV)and BSA.Then CTLV and SLV of all patients were calculated and grouped by Child-Turcotte-Pugh classification for cirrhosis patients and assigned according to prognosis of ALF patients for further comparison.It turned out that the mean liver volume of the control group was 1058±337 cm^(3).SLV was correlated with BSA according to the regression formula.The hepatic volume of cirrhosis patients in Child A,B level was not reduced,but in Child C level it was significantly reduced with the lowest liver volume index(CTLV/SLV).Likewise,in the death group of ALF patients,the volume index was significantly lower than that of the survival group.Based on volumetric study,we proposed an ROC(receiver operating characteristic)analysis to predict the prognosis of ALF patients that CTLV/SLV<83.9% indicates a poor prognosis.In conclusion,the CTLV/SLV ratio,which reflects liver volume variations,correlates well with the liver function and progression of cirrhosis and ALF.It is also a very useful marker for predicting the prognosis of ALF. | Cong Tong Xinsen Xu Chang Liu Tianzheng Zhang Kai Qu | 2012 | Frontiers of Medicine2012,6,4: | 1 |
