Cryospheric Science: research framework and disciplinary system显示文摘Cryospheric changes and their impacts have received increasing concern, extending the research to include the interactions between earth spheres and the impacts of and social adaptation to cryospheric changes. As a result, Cryospheric Science is rapidly developing. However, the research framework of Cryospheric Science has not completely been set up, and the intension and extension of Cryospheric Science are unclear.Following a literature review, the research framework for Cryospheric Science and the discipline components are analysed in this paper. We consider that Cryospheric Science is an inevitable product of international research on the earth and environmental changes as well as on human sustainable development. It will not only strengthen the linkage between the cryosphere and other earth spheres by deepening traditional research areas, but will also bring more focus on the critical roles of the cryosphere in interactions between earth spheres, and will enhance the relationship between cryospheric change and climate, ecology, hydrology, surface environment and sustainable development. The disciplinary tree of Cryospheric Science is developed following the mainstream of change-impacts adaptation. The disciplines of Cryospheric Science were teased out against characteristics of traditional branches and the developing interdisciplinary branches of cryosphere elements, which will provide reference to Cryospheric Science as it systematically grows to maturity. | Dahe Qin Yongjian Ding Cunde Xiao Shichang Kang Jianwen Ren Jianping Yang Shiqiang Zhang | 2018 | National Science Review2018,5,2: | 42
Global warming weakening the inherent stability of glaciers and permafrost显示文摘The Cryosphere has been undergoing a worldwide retreat, as seen in the decrease in the areal extent and volume of glaciers and in the areal extent of permafrost. This paper presents a systematic examination of the inherent stability changes of glaciers and permafrost caused by warming. Various study results suggest that over the past 30 years, the internal temperature of glaciers and permafrost exhibits an overall accelerating warming trend. The warming rate peaked in the mid-2000s and slowed slightly for several years afterward. In recent years, however, the warming rate has seemed to pick up again. The warming of glaciers and permafrost has exerted great impact on their stability, displayed as intensified melting, increased glacier surging, enlargement of supraglacial lakes, and increased permafrost degradation.Even without a future temperature increase, some glaciers will continue to shrink, and the number of surging glaciers will increase. The transition from low-temperature to high-temperature permafrost is a noticeable warning sign of a comprehensive degradation of permafrost. These results indicate that‘‘warming' glaciers and permafrost will exert significant impacts on the hydrology, ecology, and stability of engineering in cold regions. | Yongjian Ding Shiqiang Zhang Lin Zhao Zhongqin Li Shichang Kang | 2019 | Science Bulletin2019,64,4: | 37
Estimating Multiple Socioeconomic Attributes via Home Location-A Case Study in China显示文摘Inferring people’s Socioeconomic Attributes(SEAs),including income, occupation, and education level,is an important problem for both social sciences and many networked applications like targeted advertising and personalized recommendation.Previous works mainly focus on estimating SEAs from peoples’cyberspace behaviors and relationships, such as the content of tweets or the social networks between online users.Besides cyberspace data, alternative data sources about users’physical behavior, like their home location, may offer new insights.More specifically,in this paper,we study how to predict a person’s income level, family income level, occupation type, and education level from his/her home location. As a case study,we collect people’s home locations and socioeconomic attributes through a survey involving 9 provinces and 85 cities in China. We further enrich home location with the knowledge from real estate websites, government statistics websites, online map services, etc. To learn a shared representation from input features as well as attribute-specific representations for different SEAs,we propose H2SEA,a factorization machine-based multi-task learning method with attention mechanism.Extensive experiment results show that:(1)Home location can clearly improve the estimation accuracy for all SEA prediction tasks(e.g.,80.2%improvement in terms of F1-score in estimating personal income level);(2)The proposed H2SEA model outperforms alternative models for SEA inference in terms of various evaluation metrics, such as Area Under Curve(AUC),F-measure,and specificity;(3)The performance of specific SEA prediction tasks(e.g.,personal income)can be further improved if H2SEA only focuses on cities or villages due to urban-rural gap in China;(4)Compared with online crawled housing price data, the area-level average income and Points Of Interest(POI)are more important features for SEA inferences in China. | Shichang Ding Xin Gao Yufan Dong Yiwei Tong Xiaoming Fu | 2021 | Journal of Social Computing2021,2,1: | 1
Street-Level IP Geolocation Algorithm Based on Landmarks Clustering显示文摘Existing IP geolocation algorithms based on delay similarity often rely on the principle that geographically adjacent IPs have similar delays. However, this principle is often invalid in real Internet environment, which leads to unreliable geolocation results. To improve the accuracy and reliability of locating IP in real Internet,a street-level IP geolocation algorithm based on landmarks clustering is proposed.Firstly,we use the probes to measure the known landmarks to obtain their delay vectors, and cluster landmarks using them.Secondly, the landmarks are clustered again by their latitude and longitude, and the intersection of these two clustering results is taken to form training sets.Thirdly,we train multiple neural networks to get the mapping relationship between delay and location in each training set. Finally,we determine one of the neural networks for the target by the delay similarity and relative hop counts, and then geolocate the target by this network. As it brings together the delay and geographical coordinates clustering, the proposed algorithm largely improves the inconsistency between them and enhances the mapping relationship between them.We evaluate the algorithm by a series of experiments in Hong Kong,Shanghai,Zhengzhou and New York. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm achieves street-level IP geolocation, and comparing with existing typical streetlevel geolocation algorithms, the proposed algorithm improves the geolocation reliability significantly. | Fan Zhang Fenlin Liu Rui Xu Xiangyang Luo Shichang Ding Hechan Tian | 2021 | Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,3: | 1

Delay-Distance Correlation Study for IP Geolocation显示文摘Although many classical IP geolocation algorithms are suitable to rich-connected networks, their performances are seriously affected in poor-connected networks with weak delay-distance correlation. This paper tries to improve the performances of classical IP geolocation algorithms by finding rich-connected sub-networks inside poor-connected networks. First,a new delay-distance correlation model(RTD-Corr model)is proposed. It builds the relationship between delay-distance correlation and actual network factors such as the tortuosity of the network path and the ratio of propagation delay. Second, based on the RTD-Corr model and actual network characteristics, this paper discusses about how to find rich-connected networks inside China Internet which is a typical actual poor-connected network. Then we find rich-connected sub-networks of China Internet through a large-scale network measurement which covers three major ISPs and thirty provinces. At last, based on the founded rich-connected sub-networks,we modify two classical IP geolocation algorithms and the experiments in China Internet show that their accuracy is significantly increased. | DING Shichang LUO Xiangyang YE Dengpan LIU Fenlin | 2017 | Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences2017,22,2: | 1
Seasonal variation of atmospheric elemental carbon aerosols at Zhongshan Station,East Antarctica显示文摘Elemental carbon(or black carbon)(EC or BC)aerosols emitted by biomass burning and fossil fuel combustion could cause notable climate forcing.Southern Hemisphere biomass burning emissions have contributed substantially to EC deposition in Antarctica. Here,we present the seasonal variation of EC determined from aerosol samples acquired at Zhongshan Station(ZSS),East Antarctica. The concentration of EC in the atmosphere varied between 0.02 and 257.81 ng·m^(-3)with a mean value of 44.87±48.92 ng·m^(-3).The concentration of EC aerosols reached its peak in winter(59.04 ng·m^(-3))and was lowest(27.26 ng·m^(-3))in summer.Back trajectory analysis showed that biomass burning in southern South America was the major source of the EC found at ZSS,although some of it was derived from southern Australia, especially during winter. The 2019–2020 Australian bush fires had some influence on EC deposition at ZSS,especially during 2019,but the contribution diminished in 2020,leaving southern South America as the dominant source of EC. | LIU Yan LI Chuanjin WANG Xiaoming DING Minghu DU Zhiheng SHI Guitao SUN Bo KANG Shichang XIAO Cunde | 2022 | Advances in Polar Science2022,33,4: | 0
Automatic Mining of Security-Sensitive Functions from Source Code显示文摘When dealing with the large-scale program, many automatic vulnerability mining techniques encounter such problems as path explosion, state explosion, and low efficiency.Decomposition of large-scale programs based on safety-sensitive functions helps solve the above problems. And manual identification of security-sensitive functions is a tedious task, especially for the large-scale program. This study proposes a method to mine security-sensitive functions the arguments of which need to be checked before they are called. Two argument-checking identification algorithms are proposed based on the analysis of two implementations of argument checking.Based on these algorithms,security-sensitive functions are detected based on the ratio of invocation instances the arguments of which have been protected to the total number of instances. The results of experiments on three well-known open-source projects show that the proposed method can outperform competing methods in the literature. | Lin Chen Chunfang Yang Fenlin Liu Daofu Gong Shichang Ding | 2018 | Computers, Materials & Continua2018,,8: | 0
Abnormal thermal conductivity enhancement in covalently bonded bilayer borophene allotrope显示文摘Thermal conductivity of two-dimensional(2D)materials has gained prominence due to the attractive applications in thermal management and thermoelectric devices. In this work,we present a new member of bilayer 2D boron allotropes, denoted as bilayerβ12 borophene, and study the thermal transport properties by solving phonon Boltzmann transport equation based on density functional theory.Based on quantitative chemical bonding analysis,we identify large degrees of covalent bonding of the interlayer interaction. In comparison to its monolayer counterpart, the bilayer exhibits much higher in-plane thermal conductivity despite the lower phonon group velocity and buckling structure, inferring a new physical mechanism. The thermal conductivity(κ)of bilayerβ_(12)borophene at 300 K is 140.5(86.3)W·m^(-1)·K^(-1)along armchair(zigzag)direction,andκ_(armchair)is about 52.7%higher than that of monolayerβ12 borophene. The abnormal enhancement is attributed to the suppressed phonon scattering possibility and elongation of phonon lifetime.More interesting, after forming bilayerβ12 borophene through interlayer covalent bonding, the dominated phonon branch to thermal conductivity changes to transverse acoustic phonons from out-of-plane flexural acoustic(ZA)phonons in the monolayer borophene. Our study elucidates the rich thermal transport characteristics in bilayer covalently bonded 2D materials, and injects fresh insights into the phonon engineering of 2D borophene relevant for emergent thermal management applications. | Yan Yin Yanxiao Hu Shichang Li Guangqian Ding Shifa Wang Dengfeng Li Gang Zhang | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,4: | 0
