| 1 | Cryospheric Science: research framework and disciplinary system显示文摘Cryospheric changes and their impacts have received increasing concern, extending the research to include the interactions between earth spheres and the impacts of and social adaptation to cryospheric changes. As a result, Cryospheric Science is rapidly developing. However, the research framework of Cryospheric Science has not completely been set up, and the intension and extension of Cryospheric Science are unclear.Following a literature review, the research framework for Cryospheric Science and the discipline components are analysed in this paper. We consider that Cryospheric Science is an inevitable product of international research on the earth and environmental changes as well as on human sustainable development. It will not only strengthen the linkage between the cryosphere and other earth spheres by deepening traditional research areas, but will also bring more focus on the critical roles of the cryosphere in interactions between earth spheres, and will enhance the relationship between cryospheric change and climate, ecology, hydrology, surface environment and sustainable development. The disciplinary tree of Cryospheric Science is developed following the mainstream of change-impacts adaptation. | 2 | Global warming weakening the inherent stability of glaciers and permafrost显示文摘The Cryosphere has been undergoing a worldwide retreat, as seen in the decrease in the areal extent and volume of glaciers and in the areal extent of permafrost. This paper presents a systematic examination of the inherent stability changes of glaciers and permafrost caused by warming. Various study results suggest that over the past 30 years, the internal temperature of glaciers and permafrost exhibits an overall accelerating warming trend. The warming rate peaked in the mid-2000s and slowed slightly for several years afterward. In recent years, however, the warming rate has seemed to pick up again. The warming of glaciers and permafrost has exerted great impact on their stability, displayed as intensified melting,increased glacier surging, enlargement of supraglacial lakes, and increased permafrost degradation.Even without a future temperature increase, some glaciers will continue to shrink, and the number of surging glaciers will increase. The transition from low-temperature to high-temperature permafrost is a noticeable warning sign of a comprehensive degradation of permafrost. | 3 | Glacier runoff variation and its influence on river runoff during 1961–2006 in the Tarim River Basin, China显示文摘Using monthly precipitation and temperature data from national meteorological stations, 90 m resolution DEM and a digital vector map of modern glaciers from the Chinese Glacier Inventory, the glacier mass balance and glacier runoff in the Tarim River Basin (TRB), China, were estimated based on a monthly degree-day model for 1961–2006. The results suggest that the modified monthly degree-day model can simulate the long-term changes in glacier mass balance and glacier runoff, which have been confirmed by short-term observation data and other results in literatures. The characteristics and trends of mass balance and glacier runoff variation were analyzed. It was found that the mean annual glacier mass balance during 1961–2006 was ?139.2 mm per year and the cumulative mass balance over the 46 year period was ?6.4 m in the TRB. The glacier mass balance displayed a clear decreasing trend over the entire TRB during 1961–2006. The average annual glacier runoff in the TRB was 144.16×108 m3 for 1961–2006. The results also show that glacier runoff has increased in the last 46 years, especially since the 1990s with 85.7% of the increased river flow being derived from the increased glacier runoff caused by loss of ice mass. Over the entire TRB, glacier runoff accounts for 41.5% of the total river flow during 1961–2006. | 5 | Recent developments of large diameter X80 UOE line pipes显示文摘High-strength pipeline steel and large diameter line pipes are often used to increase the capacity of transportation and reduce the cost associated with the construction and operation of long-distance gas pipeline projects. China's initiatives to construct long-distance natural gas pipelines has brought in new opportunities for the development of X80 line pipes. Baosteel has designed the optimum chemical composition of X80 with high niobium and low molybdenum content. In addition,a welding experimental platform and a finite element model(FEM) have supported the development of X80 UOE pipes in an efficient and economical way. The application and recent development of X80 UOE pipes were introduced in this paper. To comply with the requirements of the Second West-East Gas Pipeline Project(2ndWEPP),X80 pipeline steel with low carbon bainite microstructure was developed by utilizing the optimized composition and TMCP process. The matching welding material,welding procedure and UOE forming processes for 1219mm outside diameter X80 UOE pipes were also developed. More than 340000 t of X80 UOE pipes were produced and applied in the 2ndWEPP. Furthermore,to meet the prospective demand for long-distance gas pipelines with an annual transportation capacity of over 40 billion m3,larger size X80UOE pipes with 1 422 mm OD × 30. 8 mm WT were trial produced recently. DWTT performance,the main technical challenge for heavier wall pipes,was improved by using optimized microstructural design. | 7 | Effect of electroacupuncture on chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy in patients with malignant tumor:a single-blinded,randomized controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effect of electroacupuncture on chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy(CIPN), quality of life and immune status of patients with malignant tumors.METHODS:From Jan, 2013 to May, 2014, 37 patients with malignant tumors were included in this prospective single-blinded study, and randomized to receive either electroacupuncture or acupuncture treatment on basis of chemotherapy.The chemotherapy was continued for 2 courses as previous before the treatments, with 21 days as a course of treatment.Patients received acupuncture and electroacupuncture once per day starting at the day before chemotherapy for consecutive 7 days followed by 14 days off, with 21 days as a course of treatment, and continued for two courses of treatment.Then CIPN, traditional Chinese clinical symptoms,quality of life and immune status were all evaluated for each patient prior treatment and after two courses of treatment.RESULTS:The gender, age, cancer species as well as incidence(83.3% vs 84.2%) and grades of CIPN before treatments were all similar in patients receiving acupuncture or electroacupuncture(all P >0.05).After treatments, most patients with peripheral neuropathy were cured by two courses of electroacupuncture(84.2% vs 21.1%), whereas the other group of patients had similar incidences of peripheral neuropathy compared with prior-acupuncture(83.3% vs 72.2%).Besides, patients receiving electroacupuncture had lower incidence of peripheral neuropathy than those receiving acupuncture treatment(χ~2= 9.745, P = 0.002).The grades of peripheral neuropathy were significantly different in the two groups post-treatment(χ~2= 13.983, P =0.007).The total effective rates for traditional Chinese clinical symptoms were 16.7% and 84.2% in acupuncture and electroacupuncture groups, respectively(Z =-4.239, P < 0.001).The electroacupuncture treatment provided a more satisfactory life for patients compared with acupuncture(Z =-4.76, P < 0.001).Both electroacupuncture and acupuncture had no effects on immune function.CONCLUSION:Electroacupuncture could alleviate CIPN, and improve traditional Chinese clinical symptoms and quality of life, but did not affect immune function. | Zhang Shiqiang Wu Tingting Zhang Haisheng Yang Yun Jiang Haiyan Cao Shengcheng Xie Fang Xia Xiaoting Lü Junqiang Zhong Yi | 2017 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2017,37,2: | 7 |

| 10 | A high-quality genome assembly of Morinda officinalis,a famous native southern herb in the Lingnan region of southern China显示文摘Morinda officinalis is a well-known medicinal and edible plant that is widely cultivated in the Lingnan region of southern China.Its dried roots(called bajitian in traditional Chinese medicine)are broadly used to treat various diseases,such as impotence and rheumatism.Here,we report a high-quality chromosome-scale genome assembly of M.officinalis using Nanopore single-molecule sequencing and Hi-C technology.The assembled genome size was 484.85Mb with a scaffold N50 of 40.97 Mb,and 90.77%of the assembled sequences were anchored on eleven pseudochromosomes.The genome includes 27,698 protein-coding genes,and most of the assemblies are repetitive sequences.Genome evolution analysis revealed that M.officinalis underwent core eudicotγgenome triplication events but no recent whole-genome duplication(WGD).Likewise,comparative genomic analysis showed no large-scale structural variation after species divergence between M.officinalis and Coffea canephora.Moreover,gene family analysis indicated that gene families associated with plant–pathogen interactions and sugar metabolism were significantly expanded in M.officinalis.Furthermore,we identified many candidate genes involved in the biosynthesis of major active components such as anthraquinones,iridoids and polysaccharides.In addition,we also found that the DHQS,GGPPS,TPS-Clin,TPS04,sacA,and UGDH gene families—which include the critical genes for active component biosynthesis—were expanded in M.officinalis.This study provides a valuable resource for understanding M.officinalis genome evolution and active component biosynthesis.This work will facilitate genetic improvement and molecular breeding of this commercially important plant. | Jihua Wang Shiqiang Xu Yu Mei Shike Cai Yan Gu Minyang Sun Zhan Liang Yong Xiao Muqing Zhang Shaohai Yang | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 4 |

| 13 | Herbal formula of Bushen Jianpi(补肾健脾方)combined with sorafenib inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma growth by promoting cell apoptosis and blocking the cell cycle显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the efficacy of an herbal formula of Bushen Jianpi(补肾健脾方,BSJP)combined with sorafenib on hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)in vitro and in vivo,and to study the underlying mechanisms of action.METHODS:BSJP,a mixture of 12 raw herbs,was extracted in 70%alcohol/30%water and freeze-dried into a powder.The in vitro effects of BSJP alone,sorafenib alone,and their combination on cell survival,apoptosis,and cell cycle distribution were evaluated in HCC cell lines HCCLM3,HepG2,and SMMC-7721.The expression of B-cell lymphoma-2(Bcl-2),caspase-3,and caspase-9 in HCCLM3 cells was measured using Western blots after drug administration.The in vivo effects of BSJP and sorafenib were evaluated in a tumor surgical resection model using 4-week old male athymic BALB/c nude mice injected with HCCLM3 cells.Immunohistochemical analysis of tumor tissues was performed to evaluate the effects of BSJP alone,sorafenib alone,and their combination on the expression of caspase-3,caspase-9,and Bcl-2.RESULTS:BSJP decreased the survival rate of HCC cell lines,and the combination of BSJP and sorafenib further decreased the survival rate.BSJP significantly promoted cell apoptosis and blocked cell-cycle progression in HCCLM3,HepG2,and SMMC-7721 cells in a dose-dependent manner.Furthermore,the administration of BSJP and sorafenib inhibited the growth of HCCLM3 cell xenografts in nude mice,with no reduction in body weight.In vivo and in vitro experiments showed that BSJP combined with sorafenib could significantly decrease the expression of Bcl-2.CONCLUSION:Our findings suggest that the herbal formula of BSJP is a potential HCC antitumor agent. | ZHOU Zhangjie LIU Xinhua WU Tingting QUE Zujue WU Zhonghua WU Weizhong FU Shujuan ZHANG Shiqiang YANG Yun JIANG Haiyan XIA Xiaoting LV Junqiang DU Boqian LI Yun LU Tao ZHANG Zhihui ZHONG Yi | 2021 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,2: | 3 |
| 14 | Spatial and temporal variabilities of rainstorms over China under climate change显示文摘Rainstorms are one of the extreme rainfall events that cause serious disasters,such as urban flooding and mountain torrents.Traditional studies have used rain gauge observations to analyze rainstorm events,but relevant information is usually missing in gauge-sparse areas.Satellite-derived precipitation datasets serve as excellent supplements or substitutes for the gauge observations.By developing a grid-based rainstorm-identification tool,we used the Tropical Rainfall Measurement Mission(TRMM)Multi-satellite Precipitation Analysis(TMPA)time series product to reveal the spatial and temporal variabilities of rainstorms over China during 1998–2017.Significant patterns of both increasing and decreasing rainstorm occurrences were detected,with no spatially uniform trend being observed across the whole country.There was an increase in the area being affected by rainstorms during the 20-year period,with rainstorm centers shifting along the southwest–northeast direction.Rainstorm occurrence was found to be correlated with local total precipitation.By comparing rainstorm occurrence with climate variables such as the El Ni?o-Southern Oscillation and Pacific Decadal Oscillation,we also found that climate change was likely to be the primary reason for rainstorm occurrence in China.This study complements previous studies that used gauge observations by providing a better understanding of the spatiotemporal dynamics of China’s rainstorms. | HUANG Chang ZHANG Shiqiang DONG Linyao WANG Zucheng LI Linyi CUI Luming | 2021 | Journal of Geographical Sciences2021,31,4: | 3 |

| 17 | Cardiac fibroblast heat shock protein 47 aggravates cardiac fibrosis post myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury by encouraging ubiquitin specific peptidase 10 dependent Smad4 deubiquitination显示文摘Despite complications were significantly reduced due to the popularity of percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) in clinical trials, reperfusion injury and chronic cardiac remodeling significantly contribute to poor prognosis and rehabilitation in AMI patients. We revealed the effects of HSP47 on myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury(IRI) and shed light on the underlying molecular mechanism.We generated adult mice with lentivirus-mediated or miRNA(mi1/133TS)-aided cardiac fibroblastselective HSP47 overexpression. Myocardial IRI was induced by 45-min occlusion of the left anterior descending(LAD) artery followed by 24 h reperfusion in mice, while ischemia-mediated cardiac remodeling was induced by four weeks of reperfusion. Also, the role of HSP47 in fibrogenesis was evaluated in cardiac fibroblasts following hypoxia-reoxygenation(HR). Extensive HSP47 was observed in murine infarcted hearts, human ischemic hearts, and cardiac fibroblasts and accelerated oxidative stress and apoptosis after myocardial IRI. Cardiac fibroblast-selective HSP47 overexpression exacerbated cardiac dysfunction caused by chronic myocardial IRI and presented deteriorative fibrosis and cell proliferation.HSP47 upregulation in cardiac fibroblasts promoted TGFβ1-Smad4 pathway activation and Smad4 deubiquitination by recruiting ubiquitin-specific peptidase 10(USP10) in fibroblasts. However, cardiac fibroblast specific USP10 deficiency abolished HSP47-mediated fibrogenesis in hearts. Moreover, blockage of HSP47 with Col003 disturbed fibrogenesis in fibroblasts following HR.
