| 1 | Advances in Cloud Physics and Weather Modification in China显示文摘The capabilities of cloud-resolving numerical models, observational instruments and cloud seeding have improved greatly over recent years in China. The subject of this review focuses on the main progresses made in China in the areas of cloud modeling, field observations, aerosol–cloud interactions, the effects of urbanization on cloud and precipitation, and weather modification.Well-equipped aircraft and ground-based advanced Doppler and polarized radars have been rapidly applied in cloudseeding operations. The combined use of modern techniques such as the Global Positioning System, remote sensing, and Geographical Information Systems has greatly decreased the blindness and uncertainties in weather-modification activities.Weather-modification models based on state-of-the-art cloud-resolving models are operationally run at the National Weather Modification Centre in China for guiding weather-modification programs.Despite important progress having been made, many critical issues or challenges remain to be solved, or require stronger scientific evidence and support, such as the chain of physical events involved in the effects induced by cloud seeding. Current important progresses in measurements and seeding techniques provide the opportunity and possibility to reduce these deficiencies. | 3 | Puerarin affects bone biomarkers in the serum of rats with intrauterine growth restriction显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate serum bone biomarkers in rats with intrauterine growth restriction(IUGR)in order to determine the effects of puerarin on bone metabolism.METHODS:A rat model of IUGR was induced using a low protein diet during pregnancy.The offspring were given puerarin or an identical volume of saline via subcutaneous abdominal injection.All rats were studied at 1,3,and 8 weeks of age.Serum biomarkers of bone formation,including insulin-like growth factor-1(IGF-1),bone-specific alkaline phosphatase(BALP),osteocalcin(OC),osteoprotegerin(OPG),receptor-activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand(RANKL),as well as blood levels of calcium and phosphorus were measured.RESULTS:Serum BALP,OPG,IGF-1,and OC levels,as well as the OPG/RANKL ratio,were lower in the IUGR group compared with the control group at 1week of age(P=0.024,0.011,0.014,0.004,and0.002,respectively).At 3 weeks of age,the serum BALP and OC levels were higher in the protein-re-stricted group compared with the control group(P=0.003 and 0.001,respectively).A comparison between the IUGR plus puerarin intervention group and the IUGR group revealed differences in the levels of BALP and IGF-1 at 3 weeks of age(P=0.008 and 0.003,respectively).In addition,serum OPG and OC levels and the OPG/RANKL ratio were higher at 8 weeks of age(P=0.044,0.007,and0.016,respectively).No differences in serum calcium and phosphorus levels were observed among the three groups.CONCLUSION:Our study demonstrates that the bone microenvironment of the fetus can be altered by a low protein maternal diet and that puerarin can reverse these effects.These results indicate that the nutritional environment plays an important role in early skeletal development and that the bone turnover of IUGR rats can be altered by puerarin treatment. | Chen Juncao Chen Pingyang Qi Huaxue Huang Danhong | 2016 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2016,36,2: | 9 |

| 5 | Solvothermal Synthesis of V_2O_3 Catalysts for Oxidative Desulfurization of Dibenzothiophene显示文摘V2O3 nanoparticles with high surface area have been successfully prepared by a new solvothermal method without using any surfactant and template. The size of V2O3 nanoparticles is mostly equal to 10 nm-30 nm. The highest surface area of obtained V2O3 nanoparticles reaches 49 m2/g. Several kinds of V2O3 catalysts were prepared by different methods. All these V2O3 catalysts obtained thereby showed high catalytic activity for oxidative desulfurization(ODS) reaction by using tert-butyl hydroperoxide as the oxidant. The V2O3 catalyst with a highest ODS activity was obtained under the following conditions: The catalyst was prepared upon using V2O5 as the vanadium source, methanol as the solvent, and oxalic acid as the complexing reagent at a V2O5/oxalic acid molar ratio of 1:2. The process for ODS of dibenzothiophene was carried out under mild conditions(under atmospheric pressure and at a relatively low temperature). | 6 | Preparation and evaluation of a phospholipid-based injectable gel for the long term delivery of leuprolide acetaterrh显示文摘A phospholipid-based injectable gel was developed for the sustained delivery of leuprolide acetate(LA). The gel system was prepared using biocompatible materials(SPME), including soya phosphatidyl choline(SPC), medium chain triglyceride(MCT) and ethanol. The system displayed a sol state with low viscosity in vitro and underwent in situ gelation in vivo after subcutaneous injection. An in vitro release study was performed using a dialysis setup with different release media containing different percentages of ethanol. The stability of LA in the SPME system was investigated under different temperatures and in the presence of various antioxidants. In vivo studies in male rats were performed to elucidate the pharmacokinetic profiles and pharmacodynamic efficacy. A sustained release of LA for 28 days was observed without obvious initial burst in vivo. The pharmacodynamic study showed that once-amonth injection of LA-loaded SPME(SPME-LA) led to comparable suppression effects on the serum testosterone level as observed in LA solution except for the onset time. | 7 | Velocity forecasts using a combined deep learning model in hybrid electric vehicles with V2V and V2I communication显示文摘Vehicle velocity forecast is an important clue in improving the performance of energy management in hybrid electric vehicles(HEV). This paper presents a new combined model for predicting vehicle’s velocity time series. The main features of the model are to combine the feature extraction capability of deep restricted Boltzmann machines(DBM) and sequence pattern predicting capability of bidirectional long short-term memory(BLSTM). Hence, the model is named as DBMBLSTM. In addition, the DRMBLSTM model utilizes the vehicle driving information and roadside infrastructure information provided respectively through vehicle-to-vehicle(V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure(V2I) communication channels to predict vehicle velocity at various length of prediction horizon. Furthermore, the predictions results of this study are compared with the state of the art of vehicle velocity forecasts. The root mean square error(RMSE) is used as an evaluation criteria of predictions accuracy. Finally,these compared prediction model are applied in model predictive control(MPC) energy management strategy for the verifications of fuel economy improvement of a HEV. Simulation results confirm that the proposed combined deep learning model performs better than other five prediction methods. | 9 | The formation process and cloud physical characteristics for a typical downburstproducing thunderstorm in Beijing显示文摘The formation process and characteristics ofcloud physical structure of a severe thunderstorm accompa-nied with strong wind on 23 August, 2001 in Beijing wasstudied using PSU/NCAR mesoscale model ( MM5) couplingwith a severe storm model with hail-bin microphysics. Theresults show that the specific topography and distributionfeatures of cold/warm current in the Beijing region playedprominent roles in forming, developing and maintaining thesevere storm. Due to solar radiation heating and topographiclifting, the convective cells were easily formed when thewesterly airflow passed over high mountainous regions inBeijing. The warm and wet air entered the cloud from itsfrontage and enhanced the convection, and formed a largeamount of graupel/hail particles at the middle and upperportion of the clouds. The precipitation was primarilyformed due to melting of graupel/hail particles. The strongdowndraft was mainly produced by negative buoyancy dueto loading, melting of graupel/hail particles as well asevaporative cooling of rain water. | 11 | Effect of Doped Vanadium Dioxide on Oxidative Desulfurization Reaction显示文摘VO2(M) doped with different metals(Ti, Ce, Nb, Zr, W, and Mo) was successfully synthesized by the hydrothermal reduction process using oxalic acid as the reductant. The results showed that doping metals in the VO2(M) lattice could enhance the oxidative desulfurization(ODS) activity. The DSC and Raman spectra revealed that VO2(M) retained its monoclinic structure after doping. Mechanism for the improvement of ODS activity by doping was investigated. Electron transfer to V(V) atom occurs upon doping, and then V(V) changes into V(IV), which can promote the ODS reaction. | 20 | Low impedance nature of 12 acupoints on the limbs,and the unexpected dependence on limb angle显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To better understand the working mechanism of acupuncture, we investigated the skin electrical impedance distribution around acupoints, and the impedance changes at 12 original acupoints bilaterally after bending the limbs.METHODS: We measured the skin electrical impedance in three study subjects in the frequency range of 40 to 10 k Hz using the four-electrode method with a sharp probe and a large reference electrode.A measurement matrix of 7 mm × 7 mm with spacing of 2.0(or 3.0) mm was measured to obtain 2 D impedance mapping of acupoints. The impedance spectra of 12 original acupoints were measured at the 0° position and the 90° position.RESULTS: The electrical impedance of some acupoints, such as Yangchi(TE 4), was 16 times lower than that of the surrounding area, showing a recognizable small central area of low impedance with a diameter of less than 4 mm. In contrast, other acupoints, such as Laogong(PC 8), had an electrical impedance that was not significantly different from that of the surrounding area. When the limb was bent from a straight position(0o) to a vertical position(90o), the electrical impedance of the 12 original acupoints showed varied trends, either increasing or decreasing by a factor of up to ten times, or remaining at the same level.CONCLUSION: Not all acupoints tested show the property of low impedance, which might be related to the varied depth of the openings of superficial collaterals. The unexpected dependence of acupoint impedance on limb angle is a novel discovery, which implies that the channel paths are located in interstitial structures in the limbs.
