1Electric-stimulus rate encoding algorithm of Mandarin tonal information in cochlear implant显示文摘The modern multi-channel cochlear implants usually extract and encode the temporal envelope cues. This kind of algorithms can hardly satisfy the users who speak tonal languages, such as Mandarin. Many studies have tried to enhance the recognition ability of Mandarin through encoding tonal information and made suggestions to frequency-modulate the fixed pulse-rate carrier with the extracted tonal information based on the rate-pitch theory in electric hearing. However, how to encode and deliver the tonal information such as F0 by changing electric-stimulus rate has not got further study in clinical electric-stimulus mode. The present paper focuses on this matter by piecewise calculating the appreciable electric-stimulus rates. Then an electric-stimulus encoding algorithm of Mandarin tone is brought forward and testified through acoustic simulations. Such conclusion can be drawn that this algorithm of electric-stimulus rate could convey tonal information well and help to enhance the Mandarin speech recognition ability.GUAN Tian GONG Qin YE Datian 2006Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2006,16,12:2

5EFFICIENT FITTING RANGE FOR GLUCOSE MEASUREMENT WITH OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY显示文摘Studies of non-invasive glucose measurement with optical coherence tomography(OCT)in tissue-simulating phantoms and biological tissues show that glucose has an effect on the OCT signal slope.Choosing an efficient fitting range to calculate the OCT signal slope is important because it helps to improve the precision of glucose measurement.In this paper,we study the problem in two ways:(1)scattering-induced change of OCT signal slope versus depth in intralipid suspensions with different concentrations based on Monte Carlo(MC)simulations and experiments and(2)efficient fitting range for glucose measurement in 3%and 10%intralipid.The results show that the OCT signal slope expresses a contrary change with scattering coefficient below a certain depth in high intralipid concentrations,so that there is an effective fitting depth.With an efficient fitting range from 100μm to the effective fitting depth,the precision of glucose measurement can be 4.4mM for 10%intralipid and 2.2mM for 3%intralipid.SHU FENG KEHONG YUAN DATIAN YE 2009Journal of Innovative Optical Health Sciences2009,2,1:1
6Non-invasive measurement and validation of tissue oxygen saturation covered with overlying tissues显示文摘In this paper, the biological tissue oxygen saturation (rSO2) is obtained non-invasively and in real time based on near infrared spec-troscopy (NIRS) using two emitting wavelengths and two detectors, where the tissue is covered with overlying tissues.Our group devel-oped an NIRS oximeter based on the above principle independently, and validated it using liquid tissue model calibrations and animal experiments.The results indicate that (1) in the normal range of tissue oxygen saturation (40-70%), the rSO2 measured by NIRS is accu-rate enough and little infiuenced by the background absorptions (such as the absorption of water) and overlying tissues (such as fat);(2) during cerebral hypoxia and recovery of three piglets, there is excellent correlation (p < 0.001) between cerebral rSO2 and jugular venous oxygen saturation (SjO2), meaning that the rSO2 can be indicated by the SjO2 to a large extent;during the death of the three piglets induced by heart beat stopping, cerebral rSO2 decreases continuously to significantly low levels (<25%) because cerebral blood supply does not exist any more.All the above results are of explicit physiological importance.Yichao Teng Haishu Ding Lan Huang Yue Li Quanzhong Shan Datian Ye Haiyan Ding Jenchung Chien Betau Hwang 2008Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2008,18,9:1
7Pitch perception of harmonic complex tones based on excitation patterns显示文摘Fundamental frequency difference limens were measured to study whether pitch perception of medium-rank harmonic complex tones depends on the resolvability of the components and to study the effect of masker tone on discrimination performance.Target tone was presented alone,or mixed with the masker,which were filtered into the same bandpass frequency region(low,medium,or high) to obtain different resolvability.There were five kinds of fundamental frequency difference and four kinds of phase combination between target and masker. Five young subjects participated in experiments,all of whom had normal hearing(thresholds≤15 dB HL).Results found fundamental frequency difference limens were increased with up-shift frequency region of the harmonics.The fundamental frequency difference between target and masker had a significant impact on the performance,while phase effects were small.Analysis suggested that resolvability of harmonics had a significant impact on the fundamental frequency difference limens,but pitch perception of medium-rank harmonics was not based on the resolvability. 10Detection of transient evoked otoacoustic emissions by adaptive signal enhancement显示文摘Otoacoustic emissions (OAEs) has been considered as an excellent objective tool in clinics for diagnosing hearing loss. The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and correlation coefficient of OAEs are very important for the purpose of diagnosis. An adaptive signal enhancer (ASE) based on the Least Mean Square (LMS) algorithm is presented to detect transient evoked OAEs (TEOAEs). The TEOAEs detection results from 106 ears show that ASE reaches better estimation of TEOAEs than a conventional ensemble averaging (EA) technique. With the ASE,the improvement of SNR was increased faster than that with the EA and the number of sweeps required can be markedly reduced.
