11A methodological framework for improving air quality monitoring network layout.Applications to environment management显示文摘This work aims to provide a methodology framework which allows to improve the performance and efficiency of an air quality monitoring network(AQMN).It requires to be constituted by a minimum and reliable number of measurement sites.Nevertheless,the AQMN efficiency should be assessed over time,as a consequence of the possible emergence of new emission sources of air pollutants,which could lead to variations on their spatial distribution within the target area.PM_(10)particles data monitored by the Community of Madrid's(Spain)AQMN between 2008 and 2017 were used to develop a methodology to optimize the AQMN performance.The annual spatial distribution of average PM_(10)levels over the studied period monitored by all current stations vs those more representative was provided by a geographic information system(GIS),and the percentage of similarity between both postulates was quantified using simple linear regression(>95%).As one innovative tool of this study,the practical application of the proposed methodology was validated using PM_(10)particles data measured by AQMN during 2007 and 2018,reaching a similitude degree higher than 95%.The influence of temporal variation on the proposed methodological framework was around 20%.The proposed methodology sets criteria for identifying non-redundant stations within AQMN,it is also able to appropriately assess the representativeness of fixed monitoring sites within an AQMN and it complements the guidelines set by European legislation on air pollutants monitoring at fixed stations,which could help to tackle efforts to improve the air quality management.David Galán-Madruga 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,4:1
12An optimized approach for estimating benzene in ambient air within an air quality monitoring network显示文摘Benzene is a carcinogenic air pollutant for which European legislation has set an annual limit and criteria for the number of fixed monitoring sites within air quality networks(AQMN).However,due to the limited number of fixed sites for benzene measurement,exposure data are lacking.Considering the relationship between benzene levels and other variables monitored within an AQMN,such as NO_(2),O_(3),temperature,solar radiation,and accumulated precipitation,this study proposes an approach for estimating benzene air concentrations from the related variables.Using the data of the aforementioned variables from23 fixed stations during 2016-2017,the proposed approach was able to forecast benzene concentration for 2018 with high confidence,providing enriched data on benzene exposure and its trends.Moreover,the spatial distribution of the estimated versus the most representative benzene levels was quite similar.Finally,an artificial neural network identified the most representative fixed benzene monitoring sites within the AQMN.David Galán-Madruga Jesús P.García-Cambero 2022Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,1:0
13Systemic review of the robustness of randomized controlled trials for the treatment of cholangiocarcinoma in three domains: survival-inferred fragility index, restricted mean survival time, and the spin effect显示文摘Background:The vast majority of patients with cholangiocarcinoma(CC)have advanced disease at diagnosis and are candidates for palliative treatment only.The robustness of the randomized controlled trials regarding the treatment of CC are assessed.Methods:A systematic review of all randomized control trials(RCT)of treatments for both intra-and extrahepatic CC between 2010 and 2020 was performed.The survival-inferred fragility index(SIFI;the minimum number of reassignments of the best survivors between arms that would overturn the statistical outcomes)was calculated.In addition,the gain,or loss,in survival in RCTs was evaluated by the restricted mean survival time(RMST)difference.Finally,the level of spin i.e.,misrepresentation of study outcomes,was measured in inconclusive studies to assess distorted reporting strategies.Results:Out of 6,167 studies retrieved,11 could be retained for full text revision(7 with both intra-and extrahepatic CC,3 with peri-hilar CC,and 1 with peri-hilar or distal CC).Only 3 studies included resected patients(2 with both intra-and extrahepatic CC and 1 with peri-hilar or distal CC).Nine studies investigated systemic chemotherapy(including 3 after surgical resection),one study evaluated photodynamic therapy,and another investigated the use of an endoscopically inserted stent in the biliary tract.The median SIFI was−2[interquartile range(IQR):−6.25,−0.25]across all studies.Overall,the median RMST difference was 0.56 months(IQR:0.10,0.95).Finally,for inconclusive studies,the level of spin was high,moderate,and low in respectively 12.5%,25%,and 62.5% of the studies.Conclusions:RCTs of CC showed a low degree of robustness with a frequent proportion of associated spin.Nir Horesh David Bomze Chetana Lim Gal Markel Tomer Meirson Daniel Azoulay 2022Hepatobiliary Surgery and Nutrition2022,11,6:0
