1Biliary tract schwannoma:A rare cause of obstructive jaundice in a young patient显示文摘Schwannoma is a tumor derived from Schwann cells which usually arises in the upper extremities, trunk, head and neck, retroperitoneum, mediastinum, pelvis, and peritoneum. However, it can arise in the gastro-intestinal tract, including biliary tract. We present a 24-year-old male patient with obstructive jaundice, whose investigation with computed tomography abdomen showed focal wall thickening in the common hepatic duct, difficult to differentiate with hilar adenocarcinoma. He was diagnosed intraoperatively schwannoma of common bile duct and treated with local resection. The patient recovered well without signs of recurrence of the lesion after 12 mo. We also reviewed the common bile duct schwannoma related in the literature and evaluated the difficulty in pre and intraoperative differential diagnosis with adenocarcinoma hilar. 3Optimizing the evolution of strength for lime-stabilized rammed soil显示文摘In the present study,unconfined compressive strength(qu)values of two lime-treated soils(soil 1 and 2)with curing times of 28 d,90 d and 360 d were optimized.The influence of void/lime ratio was represented by the porosity/volumetric lime content ratio(η/Liv)as the main parameter.η/Liv represents the volume of void influenced by compaction effort and lime volume.The evolution of qu was analyzed for each soil using the coefficient of determination as the optimization parameter.Aiming at providing adjustments to the mechanical resistance values,the η/Liv parameter was modified to η/LivC using the adjustment exponent C(to make qu-η/Liv variation rates compatible).The results show that with the decrease of η/LivC.qu increases potentially and the optimized values of C were 0.14-0.18.The mechanical resistance data show similar trends between qu and η/LivC for the studied silty soil-ground lime mixtures,which were cured at ambient temperature(23±2)℃ with different curing times of 28-360 d.Finally,optimized equations were presented using the normalized strengths and the proposed optimization model,which show 6% error and 95% acceptability on average.Jair de Jesus Arrieta Baldovino Ronaldo Luis dos Santos Izzo Eclesielter Batista Moreira Juliana Lundgren Rose 2019Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2019,11,4:2
4AFLOW-XtalFinder:a reliable choice to identify crystalline prototypes显示文摘The accelerated growth rate of repository entries in crystallographic databases makes it arduous to identify and classify their prototype structures.The open-source AFLOW-XtalFinder package was developed to solve this problem.It symbolically maps structures into standard designations following the AFLOW Prototype Encyclopedia and calculates the internal degrees of freedom consistent with the International Tables for Crystallography.To ensure uniqueness,structures are analyzed and compared via symmetry,local atomic geometries,and crystal mapping techniques,simultaneously grouping them by similarity.The software(i)distinguishes distinct crystal prototypes and atom decorations,(ii)determines equivalent spin configurations,(iii)reveals compounds with similar properties,and(iv)guides the discovery of unexplored materials.The operations are accessible through a Python module ready for workflows,and through command line syntax.All the 4+million compounds in the AFLOW.org repositories are mapped to their ideal prototype,allowing users to search database entries via symbolic structure-type.Furthermore,15,000 unique structures—sorted by prevalence—are extracted from the AFLOW-ICSD catalog to serve as future prototypes in the Encyclopedia.David Hicks Cormac Toher Denise CFord Frisco Rose Carlo De Santo Ohad Levy Michael J.Mehl Stefano Curtarolo 2021npj Computational Materials2021,,1:2
5Female indris determine the rhythmic structure of the song and sustain a higher cost when the chorus size increases显示文摘Among the behavioral traits shared by some nonhuman primate species and humans there is singing. Unfortunately, our understanding of animals' rhythmic abilities is still in its infancy. Indris are the only lemurs who sing and live in monogamous pairs, usually forming a group with their offspri ng. All adult members of a group usually participate in choruses that are emitted regularly and play a role in advertising territorial occupa ncy and in tergroup spaci ng. Males and females emit phrases that have similar frequency ranges but may differ in their temporal structure. We examined whether the individuals' contribution to the song may change according to chorus size, the total duration of the song or the duration of the individual con tribution using the in ter-on set intervals within a phrase and between phrases. We found that the rhythmic structure of indri's songs depends on factors that are different for males and females. We showed that females have sigrdficantly higher variation in the rhythm of their contribution to the song and that, changes according to chorus size. Our findings indicate that female indris sustain a higher cost of singing than males whe n the nu mber of singers in creases. 7Predicting densities and elastic moduli of SiO_(2)-based glasses by machine learning显示文摘Chemical design of SiO_(2)-based glasses with high elastic moduli and low weight is of great interest.However,it is difficult to find a universal expression to predict the elastic moduli according to the glass composition before synthesis since the elastic moduli are a complex function of interatomic bonds and their ordering at different length scales.Here we show that the densities and elastic moduli of SiO_(2)-based glasses can be efficiently predicted by machine learning(ML)techniques across a complex compositional space with multiple(>10)types of additive oxides besides SiO_(2).Our machine learning approach relies on a training set generated by high-throughput molecular dynamic(MD)simulations,a set of elaborately constructed descriptors that bridges the empirical statistical modeling with the fundamental physics of interatomic bonding,and a statistical learning/predicting model developed by implementing least absolute shrinkage and selection operator with a gradient boost machine(GBM-LASSO).Yong-Jie Hu Ge Zhao Mingfei Zhang Bin Bin Tyler Del Rose Qian Zhao Qun Zu Yang Chen Xuekun Sun Maarten de Jong Liang Qi 2020npj Computational Materials2020,,1:2
