1Advances in crop phenotyping and multi-environment trials显示文摘Efficient evaluation of crop phenotypes is a prerequisite for breeding, cultivar adoption, genomics and phenomics study. Plant genotyping is developing rapidly through the use of high-throughput sequencing techniques,while plant phenotyping has lagged far behind and it has become the rate-limiting factor in genetics, large-scale breeding and development of new cultivars. In this paper,we consider crop phenotyping technology under three categories. The first is high-throughput phenotyping techniques in controlled environments such as greenhouses or specifically designed platforms. The second is a phenotypic strengthening test in semi-controlled environments, especially for traits that are difficult to be tested in multi-environment trials(MET), such as lodging, drought and disease resistance. The third is MET in uncontrolled environments, in which crop plants are managed according to farmer's cultural practices. 2Review of Chinese atmospheric science research over the past 70 years: Synoptic meteorology显示文摘Synoptic meteorology is a branch of meteorology that uses synoptic weather observations and charts for the diagnosis,study,and forecasting of weather.Weather refers to the specific state of the atmosphere near the Earth’s surface during a short period of time.The spatial distribution of meteorological elements in the atmosphere can be represented by a variety of transient weather phenomena,which are caused by weather systems of different spatial and temporal scales.Weather is closely related to people’s life,and its development and evolution have always been the focus of atmospheric scientific research and operation.The development of synoptic meteorology is closely related to the development of observation systems,dynamical theories and numerical models.In China,observation networks have been built since the early 1950 s.Up to now,a comprehensive meteorological observation systembased on ground,air and space has been established.In particular,the development of a new generation of dense radar networks,the development of the Fengyun satellite series and the implementation of a series of large field experiments have brought our understanding of weather from large-scale environment to thermal dynamics,cloud microphysical structure and evolution characteristics of meso and micro-scale weather systems.The development of observation has also promoted the development of theory,numerical model and simulation.In the early days,China mainly used foreign numerical models.Lately,China has developed numerical model systems with independent intellectual property rights.Based on the results of high-resolution numerical simulations,in-depth understanding of the initiation and evolution mechanism and predictability of weather at different scales has been obtained.Synoptic meteorology has gradually changed from an initially independent development to a multidisciplinary approach,and the interaction between weather and the change of climate and environment has become a hot and frontier topic in atmospheric science.This paper reviews the important scientific and technological achievements made in China over the past 70 years in the fields of synoptic meteorology based on the literatures in China and abroad,from six aspects respectively including atmospheric dynamics,synoptic-scale weather,typhoon and tropical weather,severe convective weather,numerical weather prediction and data assimilation,weather and climate,atmospheric physics and atmospheric environment.Zhiyong MENG Fuqing ZHANG Dehai LUO Zhemin TAN Juan FANG Jianhua SUN Xueshun SHEN Yunji ZHANG Shuguang WANG Wei HAN Kun ZHAO Lei ZHU Yongyun HU Huiwen XUE Yaping MA Lijuan ZHANG Ji NIE Ruilin ZHOU Sa LI Hongjun LIU Yuning ZHU 2019Science China Earth Sciences2019,62,12:7
3The Antitumor Components from Marine-derived Bacterium Streptoverticillium luteoverticillatum 11014 Ⅱ显示文摘Eight known compounds were isolated from a marine-derived bacterium Streptoverticillium luteoverticillatum 11014 using bioassay-guided fractionations. Their structures were identified by spectral analysis as bis (4-hydroxybenzyl) ether (1), p-hydroxyphenylethyl alcohol (2), N-(4-hydroxyphenethyl) acetamide (3), indole-3 carboxylic acid methyl ester (4), dibenzo[b,e] [1,4]dioxine (5), thymine (6), cytosine deoxyribonucleoside (7) and 2, 3-butanediol (8). These compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxic activities against K562 cell line with the SRB method for the first time. Compounds 2 and 4 showed cytotoxcities with IC50 values of 101.1 and 165.3 μmol L-1, respectively. 5Identification of maize seed varieties based on near infrared reflectance spectroscopy and chemometrics显示文摘False seeds can often be seen in the maize seed market,leading to a serious decline in maize yield.Those existing variety identification methods are expensive,time consuming,and destructive to seeds.The aim of this study is to develop a cheap,fast and non-destructive method which can robustly identify large amounts of maize seed varieties based on near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy(NIRS)and chemometrics.Because it is difficult to establish models for every variety in the market,this study mainly investigated the performance of models based on a large number of samples(more than 40 major varieties in the market).The reflectance spectra of maize seeds were collected by two modes(bulk kernels mode and single kernel mode).Both collection modes can be applied to identification,but only the single kernel mode can be applied to purity sorting.The spectra were pretreated with smoothing,the first derivative and vector normalization;and then principal component analysis(PCA),linear discriminant analysis(LDA)and biomimetic pattern recognition(BPR)were applied to establish identification models.The environmental factors such as producing areas and years have a significant influence on the performance of the models.Therefore,the method to improve the robustness of the models was investigated in this study.New indexes(correct acceptance degree(CAD),correct rejection degree(CRD)and correct degree(CD))were defined to analyze the performance of the models more accurately.Finally,the models obtained a mean correct discrimination rate of over 90%,and exhibited robust properties for samples harvested from different areas and years.The results showed that NIR technology combined with chemometrics methods such as PCA,LDA,and BPR could be a suitable and alternative technique to identify the authenticity of maize seed varieties.Yongjin Cui Lanjun Xu Dong An Zhe Liu Jiancheng Gu Shaoming Li Xiaodong Zhang Dehai Zhu 2018International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2018,11,2:3
6Distribution and anomaly of microwave emission at Lunar South Pole显示文摘Investigation on Lunar polar area is almost every lunar mission’s primary objective in recent years. The rationale behind it is that illumination and ice resources in this area can be potentially very helpful for constructing lunar human base. In this paper, we analyze microwave radiometric characteristics of the Moon by using the newly acquired Chang’E-1 Lunar Microwave Sounder (CELMS) data. Microwave brightness temperature at Lunar South Pole (LSP) is distributed regularly with a style of 'ring-in-ring', decreasing from equator to pole. Regolith temperature gradient is bigger at lunar equator than at polar area. Brightness temperature diurnal difference decreases with observation frequency. Microwave brightness temperature distribution maps at LSP and Lunar North Pole (LNP) have been made based on the analysis. It is found that microwave brightness temperature becomes to synchronize with elevation beyond -85° latitude. This phenomenon is related to lightening condition and indicates temperature distribution at LSP. 7Preparation of hydrophobic transparent paper via using polydimethylsiloxane as transparent agent显示文摘Transparent paper with good hydrophobicity and flexibility was expected to act as an alternative substrate in fabrication of flexible electronics.However,conventional paper made of cellulose fibers was opaque and hydrophilic without undergoing special processing.Herein,cellulose fiber paper was treated by impregnating with hydrolyzed tetraethyl orthosilicate(TEOS)followed by coating with hydrophobic polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)to prepare hydrophobic transparent pa-per.The results showed that silica nanoparticles produced by the TEOS hydrolysis improved the paper transparency to some extent,increased the paper thermal stability,but still remained the hydrophilicity of paper.After the paper was further coated with the PDMS and the PDMS was consolidated,the paper became clearly transparent and hydrophobic.The processed paper had a transmittance of more than 90%at 550 nm.The water contact angle of the paper reached about 110°.This work provided a new approach for the fabrication of hydrophobic transparent paper with conventional cellulose fiber paper.Feixiang Guan Zhaoping Song Furong Xin Huili Wang Dehai Yu Guodong Li Wenxia Liu 2020Journal of Bioresources and Bioproducts2020,5,1:1
8Nanoparticle-stabilized Alkenyl Succinic Anhydride(ASA)Emulsions:A Review显示文摘Alkenyl succinic anhydride(ASA) is a popular paper-sizing agent that is generally added to papermaking systems as an aqueous emulsion. Herein, we reviewed the recent work focusing on ASA emulsions stabilized by solid particles. Solid particle-stabilized ASA emulsions generally possess high ASA content and exhibit good sizing performance. The particles that have been used to stabilize ASA emulsions typically include montmorillonite, laponite, alumina, TiO_2, Fe_3O_4, polyaluminum sulfate(PAS), and cellulose nanocrystals(CNCs). Montmorillonite is the first extensively studied particle stabilizer for ASA emulsions. Laponite is undoubtedly the most competent particle stabilizer for preparing ASA emulsions with high sizing efficiency. Montmorillonite and laponite can be used individually as stabilizers after modification or as co-stabilizers with other particles or polymers. 9Liquid metal hydraulics paradigm:Transmission medium and actuation of bimodal signals显示文摘In this article,room temperature gallium-based fluids(RTGFs)with unique thermal and conductive properties are proposed as a transmission fluid for the force carrying medium of hydraulics,which rectify the lack of the multi-functional hydraulic roles of liquid metal(LM).The typical physical properties of RTGFs and comparative conventional hydraulic fluids(commercial hydraulic oil and deionized water),such as thermal stability and rheological characteristics,are evaluated.Experimental and numerical methods,then,were adopted to clarify the force transmission performance of RTGFs and commercial hydraulic oils,as well as the influence of temperature fields on the viscosity of fluids.The results disclosed that the advantages of inherent flame resistance,wide liquid temperature range,and the viscosity changing slightly with temperature made RTGFs potential in finding efficient application in the hydraulics as new working fluids.Finally,for illustration,the rigid and flexible actuators driven by RTGFs were designed as hydraulic fluid and demonstrated their capabilities in grasping objects with various shapes and weights,respectively.And the tunable stiffness of such a flexible actuator was enabled via the solid-liquid phase change of LM.Additionally,a frequency-adjustable antenna was manufactured and showcased owing to the introduced transformable electromagnetic behaviors of LM.Overall,the gallium-based LM fluids with thermoelectrical and mechanical multimodal signal medium would serve as a potential candidate for future complex multifunctional signal transmission systems.FU JunHeng GAO JianYe QN Peng LI DongDong YU DeHai SUN Peng HE ZhiZhu DENG ZhongShan LIU Jing 2022Science China(Technological Sciences)2022,65,1:1
