1SIMULATION OF MAXIMUM LIGHT USE EFFICIENCY FOR SOME TYPICAL VEGETATION TYPES IN CHINA显示文摘Maximum light use efficiency (εmax) is a key parameter for the estimation of net primary pro-ductivity (NPP) derived from remote sensing data. There are still many divergences about its value for each vegetation type. The εmax for some typical vegetation types in China is simulated using a modi-fied least squares function based on NOAA/AVHRR remote sensing data and field-observed NPP data. The vegetation classification accuracy is introduced to the process. The sensitivity analysis of εmax to vegetation classification accuracy is also conducted. The results show that the simulated values of εmax are greater than the value used in CASA model, and less than the values simulated with BIOME-BGC model. This is consistent with some other studies. The rela-tive error of εmax resulting from classification accuracy is ?5.5%―8.0%. 4Improvement of Mono-window Algorithm for Retrieving Land Surface Temperature from HJ-1B Satellite Data显示文摘The thermal infrared channel (IRS4) of HJ-1B satellite obtains view zenith angles (VZA) up to ±33°. The view angle should be taken into account when retrieving land surface temperature (LST) from IRS4 data. This study aims at improving the mono-window algorithm for retrieving LST from IRS4 data. Based on atmospheric radiative transfer simulations,a model for correcting the VZA effects on atmospheric transmittance is proposed. In addition,a generalized model for calculating the effective mean atmospheric temperature is developed. Validation with the simulated dataset based on standard atmospheric profiles reveals that the improved mono-window algorithm for IRS4 obtains high accuracy for LST retrieval,with the mean absolute error (MAE) and root mean square error (RMSE) being 1.0 K and 1.1 K,respectively. Numerical experiment with the radiosonde profile acquired in Beijing in winter demonstrates that the improved mono-window algorithm exhibits excellent ability for LST retrieval,with MAE and RMSE being 0.6 K and 0.6 K,respectively. 5ABNORMAL FLOWER AND GRAIN 1 encodes OsMADS6 and determines palea identity and affects rice grain yield and quality显示文摘The palea and lemma are floral organ structures unique to grasses;these structures form the hull and directly affect grain size and quality. However, the molecular mechanisms controlling the development of the hull are not well understood. In this study, we characterized the rice(Oryza sativa) abnormal flower and grain1(afg1) mutant, a new allele of OsMADS6. Similar to previously characterized osmads6 alleles, in the afg1 floret, the palea lost its marginal region and acquired the lemma identity. However, in contrast to other osmads6 alleles, the afg1 mutant showed altered grain size and grain quality, with decreased total starch and amylose contents, and increased protein and soluble sugar contents. The analysis of transcriptional activity suggested that AFG1 is a transcriptional activator and may affect grain size by regulating the expression levels of several genes related to cell expansion and proliferation in the afg1 mutant. 6Effect of temperature switchover on the degradation of antibiotic chloramphenicol by biocathode bioelectrochemical system显示文摘Exposure to chloramphenicol(CAP),a chlorinated nitroaromatic antibiotic,can induce CAP-resistant bacteria/genes in diverse environments. A biocathode bioelectrochemical system(BES) was applied to reduce CAP under switched operational temperatures.When switching from 25 to 10°C,the CAP reduction rate(kCAP) and the maximum amount of the dechlorinated reduced amine product(AMCl,with no antibacterial activity) by the biocathode communities were both markedly decreased. The acetate and ethanol yield from cathodophilic microbial glucose fermentation(with release of electrons) was also reduced. Formation of the product AMCl was enhanced by the biocathode dechloridation reaction compared with that produced from pure electrochemical or microbial dechloridation processes. The electrochemical and morphological analyses of cathode biofilms demonstrated that some cathodophilic microbes could adapt to low temperature and play a key role in CAP degradation. 8Online Monitoring of Welding Status Based on a DBN Model During Laser Welding显示文摘In this research,an auxiliary illumination visual sensor system,an ultraviolet/visible(UVV)band visual sensor system(with a wavelength less than 780 nm),a spectrometer,and a photodiode are employed to capture insights into the high-power disc laser welding process.The features of the visible optical light signal and the reflected laser light signal are extracted by decomposing the original signal captured by the photodiode via the wavelet packet decomposition(WPD)method.The captured signals of the spectrometer mainly have a wavelength of 400-900 nm,and are divided into 25 sub-bands to extract the spectrum features by statistical methods.The features of the plume and spatters are acquired by images captured by the UVV visual sensor system,and the features of the keyhole are extracted from images captured by the auxiliary illumination visual sensor system.Based on these real-time quantized features of the welding process,a deep belief network(DBN)is established to monitor the welding status.A genetic algorithm is applied to optimize the parameters of the proposed DBN model.The established DBN model shows higher accuracy and robustness in monitoring welding status in comparison with a traditional back-propagation neural network(BPNN)model.The effectiveness and generalization ability of the proposed DBN are validated by three additional experiments with different welding parameters.Yanxi Zhang Deyong You Xiangdong Gao Seiji Katayama 2019Engineering2019,5,4:5
9Integrating CART Algorithm and Multi-source Remote Sensing Data to Estimate Sub-pixel Impervious Surface Coverage:A Case Study from Beijing Municipality,China显示文摘The sub-pixel impervious surface percentage(SPIS) is the fraction of impervious surface area in one pixel,and it is an important indicator of urbanization.Using remote sensing data,the spatial distribution of SPIS values over large areas can be extracted,and these data are significant for studies of urban climate,environment and hydrology.To develop a stabilized,multi-temporal SPIS estimation method suitable for typical temperate semi-arid climate zones with distinct seasons,an optimal model for estimating SPIS values within Beijing Municipality was built that is based on the classification and regression tree(CART) algorithm.First,models with different input variables for SPIS estimation were built by integrating multi-source remote sensing data with other auxiliary data.The optimal model was selected through the analysis and comparison of the assessed accuracy of these models.Subsequently,multi-temporal SPIS mapping was carried out based on the optimal model.The results are as follows:1) multi-seasonal images and nighttime light(NTL) data are the optimal input variables for SPIS estimation within Beijing Municipality,where the intra-annual variability in vegetation is distinct.The different spectral characteristics in the cultivated land caused by the different farming characteristics and vegetation phenology can be detected by the multi-seasonal images effectively.NLT data can effectively reduce the misestimation caused by the spectral similarity between bare land and impervious surfaces.After testing,the SPIS modeling correlation coefficient(r) is approximately 0.86,the average error(AE) is approximately 12.8%,and the relative error(RE) is approximately 0.39.2) The SPIS results have been divided into areas with high-density impervious cover(70%–100%),medium-density impervious cover(40%–70%),low-density impervious cover(10%–40%) and natural cover(0%–10%).The SPIS model performed better in estimating values for high-density urban areas than other categories.3) Multi-temporal SPIS mapping(1991–2016) was conducted based on the optimized SPIS results for 2005.After testing,AE ranges from 12.7% to 15.2%,RE ranges from 0.39 to 0.46,and r ranges from 0.81 to 0.86.It is demonstrated that the proposed approach for estimating sub-pixel level impervious surface by integrating the CART algorithm and multi-source remote sensing data is feasible and suitable for multi-temporal SPIS mapping of areas with distinct intra-annual variability in vegetation.HU Deyong CHEN Shanshan QIAO Kun CAO Shisong 2017Chinese Geographical Science2017,27,4:5
10Molecular bases of rice grain size and quality for optimized productivity显示文摘The accomplishment of further optimization of crop productivity in grain yield and quality is a great challenge.Grain size is one of the crucial determinants of rice yield and quality;all of these traits are typical quantitative traits controlled by multiple genes.Research advances have revealed several molecular and developmental pathways that govern these traits of agronomical importance.This review provides a comprehensive summary of these pathways,including those mediated by G-protein,the ubiquitin–proteasome system,mitogen-activated protein kinase,phytohormone,transcriptional regulators,and storage product biosynthesis and accumulation.We also generalize the excellent precedents for rice variety improvement of grain size and quality,which utilize newly developed gene editing and conventional gene pyramiding capabilities.In addition,we discuss the rational and accurate breeding strategies,with the aim of better applying molecular design to breed high-yield and superior-quality varieties.Deyong Ren Chaoqing Ding Qian Qian 2023Science Bulletin2023,,3:5

14Research progress on permeability improvement mechanisms and technologies of coalbed deep-hole cumulative blasting显示文摘Coalbed gas extraction is an important means of exploiting and utilizing gas resources,as well as a means of preventing coal mine disasters.In view of the low gas extraction rate from coalbeds with high gas content and low permeability,a method of improving permeability through deep-hole cumulative blasting is applied to develop initial directional fractures using a jet flow.Under the action of the blasting stress wave and detonation gas wedge,the fractures extend over a large range within the coal,thereby improving coalbed permeability.This study focuses on the criteria of cumulative blasting-induced coalbed fracturing based on a literature review of the penetration effect of cumulative blasting.On this basis,we summarize the coal fracturing zone,crack extension process,and the key technologies of charging and hole sealing for cumulative blasting.In addition,the latest research progress in the optimization of field test drilling and blasting parameters for cumulative blasting is introduced.Research findings indicate that the permeability improvement mechanism of cumulative blasting could be further enhanced,and the technology and technical equipment are in urgent need of improvement.Finally,development trends in the cumulative blasting permeability improvement technique are identified.Deyong Guo Pengfei Lv Jiechao Zhao Chao Zhang 2020International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2020,7,2:5

16Geochemistry of the Paleocene Clastic Rocks in Lishui Sag, East China Sea Shelf Basin: Implications for Tectonic Background and Provenance显示文摘The Lishui Sag,in the East China Sea Shelf Basin,is rich in hydrocarbons,with the major hydrocarbon-bearing layers being the Paleocene Mingyuefeng clastic rocks.Analysis of the implicit geologic background information of these Paleocene clastic rocks using petrological and geochemical methods has significant practical importance.These Paleocene sandstones are mainly lithic arenite,lithic arkose and greywacke,composed of K-feldspar,plagioclase,authigenic clays,silica and carbonates.As continental deposits,Yueguifeng clastic rocks have high aluminosilicate and mafic detritus contents,while the Lingfeng and Mingyuefeng Formations are rich in silica due to an oscillating coastal marine depositional environment The major element contents of these Paleocene sandstones are low and have a concentrated distribution,indicating that the geochemical composition is non-epigenetic,transformed by sedimentary processes and diagenesis.The Yueguifeng detritus comprises recycled sediments,controlled by moderate weathering and erosion,while the Lingfeng and Mingyuefeng detritus is interpreted as primarily first-cycle materials due to low chemical weathering.In the Late Cretaceous to Early Paleocene,the Pacific Plate began subducting under the Eurasian Plate,causing an orogeny by plate collision and magma eruption due to the melting of subducted oceanic crust.This resulted in the dual tectonic settings of'active margin'and'continental island arc'in the East China Sea Shelf Basin.During the Late Paleocene,the Pacific Plate margin migrated eastward along with development of the Philippine Ocean Plate,and the tectonic setting of the Lishui Sag gradually turned into a passive continental margin.Detrital sources included both orogenic continental blocks and continental island arcs,and the parent rocks are primarily felsic volcanic rocks and granites.LI Deyong JIANG Xiaodian XU Fa LIU Jinshui HOU Guowei 2016Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2016,90,1:4
17The pleiotropic ABNORMAL FLOWER AND DWARF1 affects plant height, floral development and grain yield in rice显示文摘Moderate plant height and successful establishment of reproductive organs play pivotal roles in rice grain production. The molecular mechanism that controls the two aspects remains unclear in rice. In the present study,we characterized a rice gene, ABNORMAL FLOWER AND DWARF1(AFD1) that determined plant height, floral development and grain yield. The afd1 mutant showed variable defects including the dwarfism, long panicle, low seed setting and reduced grain yield. In addition, abnormal floral organs were also observed in the afd1 mutant including slender and thick hulls, and hull-like lodicules.AFD1 encoded a DUF640 domain protein and was expressed in all tested tissues and organs. Subcellular localization showed AFD1-green fluorescent fusion protein(GFP) was localized in the nucleus. 18Toxoplasma gondii GRA15II effector-induced M1 cells ameliorate liver fibrosis in mice infected with Schistosomiasis japonica显示文摘Recent studies indicated that type II Toxoplasma gondii(Tg)GRA15II favored the generation of classically activated macrophages(M1),whereas type I/III TgROP16I/III promoted the polarization of alternatively activated macrophages(M2).A number of studies have demonstrated that M2 cells are involved in the pathogenesis of the liver fibrogenesis caused by Schistosoma japonicum.The purpose of the present study was to explore the inhibitory effect of Toxoplasma-derived TgGRA15II on mouse hepatic fibrosis with schistosomiasis.The gra15II and rop16I/III genes were amplified from strains T.gondii PRU and Chinese 1 Wh3,respectively.Lentiviral vectors containing the gra15II or rop16I/III plasmid were constructed and used to infect the RAW264.7 cell line.The polarization of the transfected cells was evaluated,followed by co-culture of the biased macrophages with mouse hepatic stellate JS1 cells.Then,mice were injected with GRA15II-driven macrophages via the tail vein and infected with S.japonicum cercariae.TgGRA15II induced a M1-biased response,whereas TgROP16I/III drove the macrophages to a M2-like phenotype.The in vitro experiments indicated that JS1 cell proliferation and collagen synthesis were decreased following co-culture with TgGRA15II-activated macrophages.Furthermore,mice inoculated with TgGRA15II-biased macrophages displayed a notable alleviation of collagen deposition and granuloma formation in their liver tissues.Our results suggest that TgGRA15II-induced M1 cells may dampen the M2 dominant pathogenesis of hepatic fibrosis and granulomatosis.These results provide insights into the use of parasite-derived immunomodulators as potential anti-fibrosis agents and to re-balance the schistosomiasis-induced immune response.Yuanyuan Xie Huiqin Wen Ke Yan Shushu Wang Xuesong Wang Jian Chen Yuanling Li Yuanhong Xu Zhengrong Zhong Jilong Shen Deyong Chu 2018Cellular & Molecular Immunology2018,15,2:4

20Rapid Creation of New Photoperiod-/Thermo-Sensitive Genic Male-Sterile Rice Materials by CRISPR/Cas9 System显示文摘Rice is an important food crop in China, and the development of hybrid rice is a crucial way to increase grain yield. The creation of dual-purpose nuclear-sterile lines for two-line hybrid breeding has become vital for commercial rice breeding. We constructed the pC1300-2 x35 S::Cas9-sgRNA^(PTGMS2-1) expression vector for editing the male fertility gene PTGMS2-1 in two widely compatible rice varieties, 93-11 and Huazhan, by using the CRISPR/Cas9 system. We obtained the marker-free photoperiod-/thermo-sensitive genic male-sterile(P/TGMS) lines in T_1 generation. According to the experiments in phytotron with four temperature and photoperiod treatments, we found the temperature is the main factor for restoring the pollen fertility of ptgms2-1 mutants in 93-11 and Huazhan, and the photoperiod also has some effects on pollen fertility in two different rice backgrounds.
