1Optical absorption of ion irradiated multi-walled carbon nanotube sheets in the visible to terahertz ranges显示文摘Optical absorption of Ar and H ion beam irradiated multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) sheets at various doses in the visible and terahertz spectral ranges was investigated.It was found that the optical absorption of MWCNT sheets in the visible range was decreased with increasing ion irradiation dose.Similar behavior was observed in terahertz range,where the optical absorption of MWCNT sheets in the range of 0 to 1.5 THz was also decreased with increasing ion irradiation dose.The optical absorption decreases in irradiated MWCNT sheets can be ascribed to the increase of defects in the irradiated MWCNTs.ISHAQ Ahmad YAN Long HE Suixia ZHU Dezhang ZHOU Xingtai 2009Nuclear Science and Techniques2009,20,4:2
2Catalytic transfer hydrogenation of levulinate ester intoγ-valerolactone over ternary Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 catalyst显示文摘An effective catalytic transfer hydrogenation (CTH) process of bio-based levulinate esters into γ-valerolactone (GVL) was explored over ternary Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 catalyst which was prepared by coprecipitation method and could be sustainably used. As a result, quantitative conversion of ethyl levulinate (EL) and 99.0% yield of GVL were obtained in the CTH process using i-PrOH as hydrogen donor. The Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 catalyst with high-surface-area could be reused at least four times without the loss of catalytic activity. Furthermore, the structure and properties of Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 catalyst was characterized through XRD, BET, SEM, TEM and H2-TPR. 3Improved two-step hydrothermal process for acetic acid production from carbohydrate biomass显示文摘An improved two-step process for converting carbohydrate biomass to acetic acid under hydrothermal conditions is proposed. The first step consists of the production of lactic acid from carbohydrate biomass, and the second step consists of conversion of the lactic acid obtained in the first step to acetic acid using CuO as an oxidant. The results indicated that CuO as an oxidant in the second step can significantly improve the production of high-purity acetic acid from lactic acid, and the maximum yield of acetic acid was 61%, with a purity of 90%. The yield of acetic acid obtained using the improved two-step hydrothermal process from carbohydrate biomass, such as glucose, cellulose and starch, was greater than that obtained using traditional two-step process with H2O2 orO2. In addition, a proposed pathway for the production of acetic acid from lactic acid in the second step with CuO was also discussed. 7Selective growth of diamond by hot filament CVD using patterned carbon film as mask显示文摘Selected-area deposition (SAD) of diamond films was achieved on silicon substrates with carbon film mask by hot filament chemical vapor deposition.Needle tip scraped lines were used to grow diamond films.Scanning electron microscope (SEM) investigation demonstrates that highly selective and sharp edged diamond films were produced.The results also demonstrate that the proper substrate temperature is very important for diamond selective growth in this deposition process.Since the enhancement of diamond growth was not observed on the needle tip scraped area of Si wafer with diamond powder scratching,the selective growth was considered to be closely correlated to silicon carbide formed during carbon film deposition and the residual carbon in the scraped area.HE Zhoutong YANG Shumin LI Qintao ZHU Dezhang GONG Jinlong 2008Nuclear Science and Techniques2008,19,2:1

9Catalytic conversion of ethyl lactate to 1,2-propanediol over CuO显示文摘An efficient conversion of biomass-derived ethyl lactate to 1,2-propanediol(1,2-PDO) over CuO was investigated.Among the catalysts we tested, CuO, Cu2 O and Co showed excellent catalytic activity for the conversion of ethyl lactate to 1,2-PDO in water, and CuO was more active and gave the best result. The 1,2-PDO yield of 93.6% was achieved when Zn acted as a reductant. 15Enhanced field emission from nano-graphite coated carbon nanotubes显示文摘An effective method by low energy carbonhydrogen ion treatment to enhance field emission of the carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is demonstrated. Comparing with control, field emission (FE) currents of the CNTs by carbonhydrogen ion irradiation increased, and the turn-on field and the threshold field decreased significantly. The structure characteristic revealed by transmission electron microscopy demonstrates that CNTs are coated by nano-graphite particles after being treated with low energy carbonhydrogen ion and that there are large quantities of defects and grain boundaries in the coated layer. It is considered that the coating layer can decrease the effective surface work function of CNTs and correspondingly increase field emission.
