| 1 | Durability of neutralizing antibodies and T-cell response post SARS-CoV-2 infection显示文摘The ongoing pandemic of coronavirus disease 19(COVID-19)is caused by a newly discoveredβcoronavirus named severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2).How long the adaptive immunity triggered by SARS-CoV-2 can last is of critical clinical relevance in assessing the probability of second infection and efficacy of vaccination.Here we examined,using ELISA,the IgG antibodies in serum specimens collected from 17 COVID-19 patients at 6–7 months after diagnosis and the results were compared to those from cases investigated 2 weeks to 2 months post-infection.All samples were positive for IgGs against the S-and N-proteins of SARS-CoV-2.Notably,14 samples available at 6–7 months post-infection all showed significant neutralizing activities in a pseudovirus assay,with no difference in blocking the cell-entry of the 614D and 614G variants of SARS-CoV-2.Furthermore,in 10 blood samples from cases at 6–7 months post-infection used for memory T-cell tests,we found that interferonγ-producing CD4+and CD8+cells were increased upon SARS-CoV-2 antigen stimulation.Together,these results indicate that durable anti-SARS-CoV-2 immunity is common in convalescent population,and vaccines developed from 614D variant may offer protection from the currently predominant 614D variant of SARS-CoV-2. | Yun Tan Feng Liu Xiaoguang Xu Yun Ling Weijin Huang Zhaoqin Zhu Mingquan Guo Yixiao Lin Ziyu Fu Dongguo Liang Tengfei Zhang Jian Fan Miao Xu Hongzhou Lu Saijuan Chen | 2020 | Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,6: | 6 |
| 2 | An eco-functional classification for environmental flow assessment in the Pearl River Basin in Guangdong, China显示文摘River classification has emerged as a major application of environmental science, which can overcome the defects of traditional methods in focusing on the single objective of maintaining specified, valued features of ecosystems. However, current efforts to classify rivers by hydrologic processes may result in a growing temptation to ignore ecological variability across basins. Thus, an eco-functional classification is proposed for river management in the Pearl River Basin. This method views ecological functions as fundamental characteristics of riverine systems and provides a framework for dividing a basin into eco-specific categories according to the heterogeneity of the primary ecological functions. In addition, we proposed specific environmental flow methodologies corresponding to three typical river reaches of the basin by perceiving the key attributes of flow variability. In the upstream region of the West River, flow velocity and wetted perimeter are considered as the key attributes of maintaining fish habitat; in a small-sized mountainous tributary of the North river, we choose water surface area to maintain the continuity and biodiversity of the river; while for the aspect of river landscape in the midstream reach of the East River, water level is crucial for maintaining the aesthetic value. | 3 | Physiological and anatomical changes in two rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) genotypes under drought stress conditions显示文摘Understanding the mechanisms of drought resistance in crop species is crucial for the selection and breeding of tolerant rapeseed(Brassica napus L.)varieties.The present study aimed to assess the physiological and anatomical responses of two rapeseed genotypes,P287(drought-tolerant)and T88(drought-sensitive)under three intensities of drought stress.All physiological and anatomical parameters related to drought acclimation were significantly altered in both genotypes under stress conditions.At the fourth-leaf stage,the relative water content,chlorophyll content,protein content,malondialdehyde content,and the activities of peroxidase and catalase in P287 were significantly higher than those in T88,particularly under severe drought conditions.After rehydration,all physiological indexes recovered rapidly,especially in P287.In addition,under drought stress,compared with T88,P287 had thicker palisade tissue,thinner spongy tissue,higher ratio of chloroplast length to chloroplast width,higher stomatal density and stomatal closure rate.Overall,the interaction between physiological and anatomical features improved the drought tolerance of P287 under drought stress conditions. | Jiacheng Zhu Dongfang Cai Jianping Wang Jinhua Cao Yancheng Wen Junping He Lei Zhao Dongguo Wang Shufen Zhang | 2021 | Oil Crop Science2021,6,2: | 2 |
| 4 | Mining Functional Gene Modules Linked with Rheumatoid Arthritis Using a SNP-SNP Network显示文摘The identification of functional gene modules that are derived from integration of information from different types of networks is a powerful strategy for interpreting the etiology of complex diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Genetic variants are known to increase the risk of developing RA. Here, a novel method, the construction of a genetic network, was used to mine functional gene modules linked with RA. A polymorphism interaction analy-sis (PIA) algorithm was used to obtain cooperating single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that contribute to RA disease. The acquired SNP pairs were used to construct a SNP-SNP network. Sub-networks defined by hub SNPs were then extracted and turned into gene modules by mapping SNPs to genes using dbSNP database. We per-formed Gene Ontology (GO) analysis on each gene module, and some GO terms enriched in the gene modules can be used to investigate clustered gene function for better understanding RA pathogenesis. This method was applied to the Genetic Analysis Workshop 15 (GAW 15) RA dataset. The results show that genes involved in func-tional gene modules, such as CD160 (rs744877) and RUNX1 (rs2051179), are especially relevant to RA, which is supported by previous reports. | 15 | Host protection against Omicron BA.2.2 sublineages by prior vaccination in spring 2022 COVID-19 outbreak in Shanghai显示文摘The Omicron family of SARS-CoV-2 variants are currently driving the COVID-19 pandemic.Here we analyzed the clinical laboratory test results of 9911 Omicron BA.2.2 sublineages-infected symptomatic patients without earlier infection histories during a SARS-CoV-2 outbreak in Shanghai in spring 2022.Compared to an earlier patient cohort infected by SARS-CoV-2 prototype strains in 2020,BA.2.2 infection led to distinct fluctuations of pathophysiological markers in the peripheral blood.In particular,severe/critical cases of COVID19 post BA.2.2 infection were associated with less pro-inflammatory macrophage activation and stronger interferon alpha response in the bronchoalveolar microenvironment.Importantly,the abnormal biomarkers were significantly subdued in individuals who had been immunized by 2 or 3 doses of SARS-CoV-2 prototypeinactivated vaccines,supporting the estimation of an overall 96.02% of protection rate against severe/critical disease in the 4854 cases in our BA.2.2 patient cohort with traceable vaccination records.Furthermore,even though age was a critical risk factor of the severity of COVID-19 post BA.2.2 infection,vaccination-elicited protection against severe/critical COVID-19 reached 90.15% in patients aged≥60 years old.Together,our study delineates the pathophysiological features of Omicron BA.2.2 sublineages and demonstrates significant protection conferred by prior prototype-based inactivated vaccines. | Ziyu Fu Dongguo Liang Wei Zhang Dongling Shi Yuhua Ma Dong Wei Junxiang Xi Sizhe Yang Xiaoguang Xu Di Tian Zhaoqing Zhu Mingquan Guo Lu Jiang Shuting Yu Shuai Wang Fangyin Jiang Yun Ling Shengyue Wang Saijuan Chen Feng Liu Yun Tan Xiaohong Fan | 2023 | Frontiers of Medicine2023,17,3: | 1 |

| 20 | Optimum Application Time and Application Rate of Nitrogen Fertilizer in Brassica napus L.显示文摘To find proper nitrogen fertilizer application mode of rapeseed( Brassica napus L.),promote the high and stable yield of rapeseed,field experiment was carried out to study the effect of nitrogen fertilizer application modes on the yield and economic traits of Fengyou 10 rapeseed planted in two different fertility soils,and characteristics and differences of responses of different fertility soils to nitrogen fertilizer application modes were compared and analyzed. The results showed that the yield and related economic traits of rapeseed treated by nitrogen fertilizer were higher than the control group; in the nitrogen fertilizer treatment group,when the nitrogen fertilizer was applied as the base fertilizer and wintering fertilizer at the ratio of 7∶ 3,the rapeseed yield was higher than the control group and reached the highest; when the nitrogen fertilizer was applied as the base fertilizer,wintering fertilizer,and bud fertilizer at the ratio of 5∶ 3∶ 2,the rapeseed yield was significantly higher than the control group but was the lowest. These indicate that sufficient nitrogen supply is the basis for normal growth and development of rape seedlings.
