| 1 | Effect of ZnO on the performance of Ag/SiO_2 catalyst for the vapor-phase synthesis of 3-methylindole显示文摘The vapor-phase synthesis of 3-methylindole over Ag/SiO2 doped with ZnO was investigated. The catalysts were characterized by XRD,H 2-TPR,NH 3-TPD and TG techniques. The results indicated that ZnO promoter greatly enhanced the initial activity of the catalyst but disfavored its stability. H2-TPR and XRD results showed that the reduction peak of Ag 2 O shifted to higher temperature and the intensity of silver diffraction peaks was much weaker after the addition of ZnO promoter to Ag/SiO2 . This indicated that there existed the interaction between Ag2O and SiO2-ZnO which promoted the silver particles dispersing on the support and inhibited the sintering of silver during the reaction. | 5 | Impacts of El Nino on the somatic condition of Humboldt squid based on the beak morphology显示文摘The Humboldt squid Dosidicus gigas has a short life span, and environmental variability plays a significant role in regulating its population dynamics and distribution. An analysis of 1 096 samples of D. gigas collected by the Chinese commercial fishing vessels during 2013, 2014, and 2016 off the Peruvian Exclusive Economic Zone, was conducted to evaluate the impacts of El Nino events on the somatic condition of D. gigas. This study indicates that the slopes of all beak variables in relation to mantle length (ML) for females were greater than those of males during 2013, 2014, and 2016, and slopes of the upper crest length and the lower rostrum length significantly differed between females and males in 2013 (P<0.05). Variation in the slopes for beak variables among years was studied;no significant difference was observed (ANCOVA, P>0.05). The Fulton's condition coefficients (K) of females and males in 2013 and 2014 were significantly greater than those in 2016 (P<0.01). The K values of females were greater than those of males in 2013, 2014, and 2016, and K values significantly differed between females and males in 2013. In normal years, the chlorophyll a (Chl a) concentration showed an N-shaped variability from January to December. However, in the El Nino period, it tended to weaken the upwelling coupled with warm and low Chl a concentration waters. | 7 | Retrospective analysis of results of treatment for nasopharyngeal carcinoma in Macao显示文摘Background: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC) is a common malignancy in Southeast Asia, however, a full consensus has not yet been reached as to the value of comprehensive treatment for NPC. This study was designed to evaluate the epidemiological characteristics of NPC and their prognostic value, as well as the long-term efficacy of NPC treatment.Patients and methods: A total of 248 patients, with different stages of NPC, were included in this study.Results: The 5-year overall survival(OS) rates for patients in stages I, II, III and IV were 90.48%, 76.71%, 76.89% and 33.87%, respectively(P=0.000), while the respective 5-year progression-free survival(PFS) rates were 85.15%, 72.36%, 63.88% and 26.26%(P=0.000). The respective 5-year OS rates, according to stage, for the group that received radiotherapy combined with chemotherapy and for the group that received radiotherapy only were as follows: stages I and II, 81.67% and 79.59%(P=0.753); stage III, 79.91% and 70.38%(P=0.143); stage IV, 35.22% and 0%(P=0.000). The respective 5-year PFS rates in these groups were as follows: stages I and II, 75.83% and 74.98%(P=0.814); stage III, 74.08% and 42.25%(P=0.027); stage IV, 27.31% and 0%(P=0.000).Conclusions: Clinical staging appears to be the most important prognostic factor for NPC. As the stage number increases, both the 5-year OS and PFS significantly decrease. Adding chemotherapy to radiotherapy was not advantageous for patients with stage I or II NPC, however the addition of chemotherapy to radiotherapy significantly improved OS and PFS in patients with stage IV NPC. | 13 | Noninvasive Low-Frequency Pulsed Focused Ultrasound Therapy for Rheumatoid Arthritis in Mice显示文摘Rheumatoid arthritis(RA)is a common autoimmune disease characterized by chronic and progressive inflammation of the synovium.Focused ultrasound therapy is an increasingly attractive alternative for treating RA owing to its noninvasiveness;however,it remains unclear which immune subsets respond to ultrasound stimulation.In this study,we showed that spleen-targeted low-frequency pulsed focused ultrasound(LFPFU)effectively improved the severity of arthritis in an arthritis mouse model established in DBA/1J mice.Additionally,we performed in-depth immune profiling of spleen samples from RA mice,RA mice that underwent ultrasound therapy,and healthy controls using mass cytometry along with extensive antibody panels and identified the immune composition of 14 cell populations,including CD4^(+)/CD8^(+)T cells,B cells,natural killer cells,and dendritic cells.Moreover,multidimensional analysis according to cell-surface markers and phenotypes helped in identifying 4 and 5 cell subpopulations among T and myeloid cells,respectively,with 6 T cell subsets and 3 myeloid cell subsets responsive to ultrasound therapy among the 3 groups.Of these cell subsets,CD8^(+)T cell subsets showed a unique response to ultrasound stimulation in RA mice.Specifically,CD8^(+)T cells show a noticeable correlation with the degree of arthritis progression and could serve as an indicator for spleen-focused ultrasound-based therapy.Furthermore,single-cell RNA sequencing of spleen cells revealed the importance of T,B,and myeloid cell populations in the anti-inflammatory pathway.These results elucidated the unique cell subsets and transcriptome of splenic cells responsive to LFPFU and demonstrated the potential of spleen-focused ultrasound stimulation in the treatment of inflammatory diseases. | Xuqiao Hu Fei Li Jieying Zeng Zhenru Zhou Zhaoyang Wang Jing Chen Dongyan Cao Yifan Hong Laixin Huang Yongsheng Chen Jinfeng Xu Fajn Dong Rongmin Yu Harong Zhen | 2023 | Research2023,,3: | 0 |
| 14 | Regeneration patterns and drivers of different underutilized lands in the rust belt city of developing country:An empirical case study for Northeast China显示文摘Rust belt cities are largely threatened by a waste of urban space at their core;however,in developing countries where land resources are widely used as instruments for macroeconomic stabilization,urban periphery is also at risk of being underutilized due to land hoarding.Such geographic differences entail new knowledge about how,where,and why underutilized lands are regenerated in the city.Furthermore,rapid urban growth imposes development disparity and mixed underutilization issues on cities in developing countries;therefore,how the geo-information obtained by the regeneration of different underutilized lands differs will be valuable for urban planners and policymakers to make prudent trade-offs.To fill these gaps,we conducted a sequential investigation into the regeneration of underutilized lands in a representative rust belt city – Changchun City in Northeast China,in an attempt to measure the regeneration pattern and analyze the underlying determinants using the Classification and Regression Trees analysis.The results indicated that,of all underutilized lands,increments of vacant lot and remnant cultivated land continued to plague the expanding urban periphery during 2016–2019.In a way,reduced underutilized lands alleviated land use conflicts at the city core.Nearly 23% of the underutilized areas had been regenerated,dominated by realty development,with most converted to residential lands,ecological lands and industrial lands.On the contrary,conversion to transportation lands and parking lots seemed to avoid the rapidly expanding sites.The regeneration rates in a certain area can be increased by a multitude of factors,including denser,simply structured land underutilization,abundant ecosystem services nearby and accessibility to public infrastructures.Site conditions such as residential density and accessibility may have fueled the regeneration associated with residential purposes,while regeneration of industrial development was closely associated with the underutilization density and parcel regularity.This research provides an empirical paradigm for delivering regeneration geo-information across different underutilized lands,particularly for rust belt cities that are caught between a shrinking core and speculative periphery. | LI Wenbo LI Han YAN Zhuoran HU Bingqing ZHU Yuanli YANG Yuewen WANG Dongyan | 2023 | Journal of Geographical Sciences2023,33,7: | 0 |
| 15 | Transmission of Carbapenem Resistance Between Human and Animal NDM-Positive Escherichia coli Strains显示文摘Although carbapenem use is prohibited in animals in China,carbapenem-resistant Escherichia coli(CREC),especially New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase(NDM)-producing strains,are widely prevalent in foodproducing animals.At present,the impact of livestock-associated CREC strains on human populations at the national level is unknown.Here,we conduct a retrospective cross-sectional study to investigate the prevalence of CREC from clinical settings across 22 Chinese provinces or municipalities and analyze anthropogenic factors associated with their presence.We also ascertain the blaNDMand blaKPCabundance among pig and chicken farms and present a detailed genomic framework for CREC of animal and human origin.Overall,631/29799(2.1%)clinical Escherichia coli(E.coli)isolates were identified as CREC.Multivariable analysis revealed that being male,an age below 1,an age between 13 and 18,provinces with greater chicken production,and provinces with higher pig production were associated with higher odds of CREC infection.In general,73.8%(n=45/61)of pig farms and 62.2%(n=28/45)of chicken farms had a blaNDMabundance of 1×10^(-5)to 1×10^(-3)and 1×10^(-3)to 1×10^(-2),respectively.Among all the Chinese NDM-positive E.coli(n=463)available at the National Center for Biotechnology Information(NCBI),the genomic analysis revealed that blaNDM-5and Inc X3 were the predominant carbapenemase gene-plasmid combination,while a highly homogeneous relationship between NDM-positive isolates from humans and animals was demonstrated at the plasmid and core genome levels.All the findings suggest frequent CREC transmission between humans and animals,indicating that further discussions on the use of antibiotics in animals and humans are needed,both in China and across the globe. | Yingbo Shen Fupin Hu Yongqiang Wang Dandan Yin Lu Yang Yiqiang Chen Chunyan Xu Jiyun Li Junyao Jiang Xueyang Wang Yulin Fu Dongyan Shao Dejun Liu Tengfei Ma Chang Cai Zhangqi Shen Shaolin Wang Juan Li Rong Zhang Yuebin Ke Congming Wu Jianzhong Shen Timothy R.Walsh Yang Wang | 2022 | Engineering2022,8,8: | 0 |
