| 1 | The genome of Magnolia biondii Pamp. provides insights into the evolution of Magnoliales and biosynthesis of terpenoids显示文摘Magnolia biondii Pamp.(Magnoliaceae,magnoliids)is a phylogenetically,economically,and medicinally important ornamental tree species widely grown and cultivated in the north-temperate regions of China.Determining the genome sequence of M.biondii would help resolve the phylogenetic uncertainty of magnoliids and improve the understanding of individual trait evolution within the Magnolia genus.We assembled a chromosome-level reference genome of M.biondii using~67,~175,and~154Gb of raw DNA sequences generated via Pacific Biosciences single-molecule real-time sequencing,10X Genomics Chromium,and Hi-C scaffolding strategies,respectively.The final genome assembly was~2.22Gb,with a contig N50 value of 269.11 kb and a BUSCO complete gene percentage of 91.90%.Approximately 89.17%of the genome was organized into 19 chromosomes,resulting in a scaffold N50 of 92.86Mb.The genome contained 47,547 protein-coding genes,accounting for 23.47%of the genome length,whereas 66.48%of the genome length consisted of repetitive elements.We confirmed a WGD event that occurred very close to the time of the split between the Magnoliales and Laurales.Functional enrichment of the Magnolia-specific and expanded gene families highlighted genes involved in the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites,plant–pathogen interactions,and responses to stimuli,which may improve the ecological fitness and biological adaptability of the lineage.Phylogenomic analyses revealed a sister relationship of magnoliids and Chloranthaceae,which are sister to a clade comprising monocots and eudicots.The genome sequence of M.biondii could lead to trait improvement,germplasm conservation,and evolutionary studies on the rapid radiation of early angiosperms. | Shanshan Dong Min Liu Yang Liu Fei Chen Ting Yang Lu Chen Xingtan Zhang Xing Guo Dongming Fang Linzhou Li Tian Deng Zhangxiu Yao Xiaoan Lang Yiqing Gong Ernest Wu Yaling Wang Yamei Shen Xun Gong Huan Liu Shouzhou Zhang | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 4 |

| 5 | Plastid and nuclear phylogenomic incongruences and biogeographic implications of Magnolia s.l.(Magnoliaceae)显示文摘Magnoliaceae,an assemblage of early diverged angiosperms,comprises two subfamilies,speciose Magnolioideae with approximately 300 species in varying numbers of genera and monogeneric Liriodendroideae with two species in Liriodendron L.This family occupies a pivotal phylogenetic position with important insights into the diversification of early angiosperms,and shows intercontinentally disjunct distribution patterns between eastern Asia and the Americas.Widespread morphological homogeneity and slow substitution rates in Magnolia L.s.l.resulted in poorly supported phylogenetic relationships based on morphology or molecular evidence,which hampers our understanding of the genus,temporal and spacial evolution.Here,based on the newly generated genome skimming data for 48 Magno/fa s.l.species,we produced robust/Vlagno/kj phylogenies using genome-wide markers from both plastid genomes and single nucleotide polymorphism data.Contrasting the plastid and nuclear phylogenies revealed extensive cytonuclear conflicts in both shallow and deep relationships.ABBA-BABA and PhyloNet analyses suggested hybridization occurred within sect.Yulania,and sect.Magnolia,which is in concordance with the ploidy level of the species in these two sections.Divergence time estimates and biogeographic reconstruction indicated that the timing of the three tropical Magnolia disjunctions coincided with the mid-Eocene cooling climate and/or late Eocene climate deterioration,and two temperate disjunctions occurred much later,possibly during the warm periods of the Miocene,hence supporting the boreotropical flora concept of Magnolia s.l. | Shan-Shan Dong Ya-Ling Wang Nian-He Xia Yang Liu Min Liu Lian Lian Na Li Ling-Fei Li Xiao-An Lang Yi-Qing Gong Lu Chen Ernest Wu Shou-Zhou Zhang | 2022 | Journal of Systematics and Evolution2022,60,1: | 1 |
| 6 | Organic frameworks confined Cu single atoms and nanoclusters for tandem electrocatalytic CO_(2) reduction to methane显示文摘The electrochemical reduction reaction of carbon dioxide(CO_(2)RR)is considered to be an effective way to realize carbon neutrality.As a type of intensively studied materials,covalent organic frameworks(COFs)with a tunable pore structure and various functional groups are promising catalysts for CO_(2)RR.Herein,COF synthesized by 2,6‐diaminoanthraquinone and 2,4,6‐triformylphloroglucinol is employed to assist the synthesis of electrocatalysts from Cu single atoms(SAs)to nanoclusters by controlling the electrodeposition.A tandem catalyst for CO_(2)‐to‐CH4 conversion is thus achieved by the Cu nanoclusters dispersed among the isolated Cu SAs in the COF network.It is proposed that CO_(2) is first reduced to CO over the atomically isolated Cu SAs,followed by diffusion onto the neighboring Cu nanoclusters for further reduction into CH4.In addition,mechanistic analysis suggests that the coordinated K^(+)ions on the COF network promote the activation of CO_(2) and the adsorption of reaction intermediates,thus realizing the suppressed hydrogen evolution reaction and selective production of CH4.This study presents a new insight of COFs for the confined synthesis of a tunable SA to nanocluster electrocatalysts,disclosing the great potential of COFs in electrocatalysis. | Qinglan Zhao Yian Wang Meng Li Shangqian Zhu Tiehuai Li Jixiang Yang Ting Lin Ernest PDelmo Yinuo Wang Juhee Jang Meng Gu Minhua Shao | 2022 | SmartMat2022,3,1: | 1 |

| 14 | Effects of Medicines and Supplements on Spontaneous Pregnancy and Semen Parameters in Male Infertility:A Systematic Review Update and Network Meta-Analysis显示文摘In this study,we used a network meta-analysis(NMA)to compare the effectiveness of medicines and supplements for idiopathic male infertility and to identify the best treatment.Medline,Excerpta Medica Database(EMBASE),Ovid,and China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),were searched for the period from January 1990 to June 2021 using the keywords'male infertility,''medical therapy,''supplement/nutrient therapy,'and related terms.Randomized controlled trials(RCTs)investigating medicines(mainly follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH),androgen,and clomiphene/tamoxifen)or supplements(mainly zinc,selenium,vitamin C or E,carnitine,coenzyme Q10(CoQ10),or combined treatment)for idiopathic infertile men were selected for meta-analysis.Preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analysis(PRISMA)was used for data extraction,and a risk-of-bias tool and grades of recommendation,assessment,development,and evaluation(GRADE)system adapted to the NMA were employed to assess the quality of the evidence.The primary outcomes were live birth and spontaneous pregnancy rate(SPR).The secondary outcomes were sperm parameters(including concentration,progressive motility,and morphology)and side effects.In total,65 RCTs involving 7541 men with sperm abnormalities but normal hormone levels were included.A total of 36 studies reported SPR but only three reported live birth rates.The quality of the included studies was found to be moderate to high.Compared with a placebo or being untreated,carnitine plus vitamins significantly improved SPR(relative risk(RR)=3.7,95%confidence interval(95%CI),1.6-8.5);fatty acids significantly increased sperm concentrations(mean difference(MD)=12.5×10^(6)mL-1,95%CI,3.1×10^(6)-22.0×10^(6));and selective estrogen receptor modulator(SERM)plus CoQ10 significantly improved sperm progressive motility(MD=11.0%,95%CI,0.1%-21.9%)and normal sperm morphology(MD=11.0%,95%CI,4.6%-17.4%).The most optimal intervention was carnitine plus vitamins and fatty acids for SPR and sperm concentrations,respectively,even after excluding trials at a high risk of bias.Compared with a placebo or being untreated,FSH(RR=4.9,95%CI,1.1-21.3)significantly increased SPR,whereas SERM plus kallikrein increased sperm concentration(MD=16.5×10^(6)mL^(-1),95%CI,1.6×10^(6)-31.4×10^(6)),and SERM plus CoQ10 significantly improved sperm progressive motility(MD=11.3%,95%CI,7.3%-15.4%)and normal morphology(MD=11.2%,95%CI,5.4%-16.9%)in men with oligoasthenozoospermia(OA).In terms of side effects,fatty acids and pentoxifylline were associated with foul breath and/or a bad taste(RR=8.1,95%CI,1.0-63.5)and vomiting(RR=8.0,95%CI,1.0-63.0),respectively.In conclusion,the optimal treatment for male infertility for live birth is still unknown.Carnitine plus vitamins and FSH are likely to be better than other therapies in achieving successful spontaneous pregnancy in couples overall and in cou ples with men with OA,respectively.The efficacy of other treatments on pregnancy outcomes warrants further verification. | Jian Li Qi Wu Ernest Hung Yu Ng Ben Willem J.Mol Xiao Ke Wu Chi Chiu Wang | 2022 | Engineering2022,,9: | 0 |
