| 14 | A novel mutation of SGK-1 gene in central serous chorioretinopathy显示文摘AIM: To investigate the association of serum glucocorticoid kinase gene-1(SGK-1) DNA variants with chronic central serous chorioretinopathy(CSC).METHODS: We enrolled 32 eyes of 32 patients who were diagnosed with chronic CSC and composed 32 normal eyes as a control group. Peripheral blood was used for DNA extraction and polymerase chain reaction amplification. SGK1 gene was sequenced by using Big Dye Terminator v3.1 cycle sequencing Kit(Applied Biosystems, Foster City, CA, USA). The SGK-1 gene and its variants were investigated in CSC patient group and control group.RESULTS: We identified a new polymorphism M32 V in two person in the patient group [Minor allele frequency(MAF) =0.009] on the region of 1-60 amino acids. The rs1057293 was located in the encoder region of the SGK- 1 gene but not associated with CSC(P =0.68). An intrinsic rs1743966 is also not associated(P =0.28).CONCLUSION: The new polymorphism M32 V is located on the region of 1-60 amino acids which is necessary for localization to the mitochondria in CSC patient. This mutation is probably important for the energy metabolism and plays an important role in the cellular response to hyperosmotic stress and other stress stimuli. Both rs1057293 and rs1743966 are not associated with CSC. | Mahmut Akyol Muhammet Kazιm Erol Ozdemir Ozdemir Deniz Turgut Coban Ahmet Burak Bilgin Esin Sogutlu Sari Elif Betul Turkoglu | 2015 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2015,8,1: | 1 |
| 15 | Understanding pedestrian behavior and spatial relations:A pedestrianized area in Besiktas,Istanbul显示文摘This research provides a mixed method of investigating and analyzing pedestrian behavior in pedestrianized areas, which is one of the human-based urban development practices. The relationship between pedestrian behavior and perception of the city is discussed through a combination of architect and urban planner Gordon Cullen’s theory and Space Syntax methodology. This study examines the development and implementation of the methodology to understand the relationship between pedestrian behavior and space in Besiktas Koyici settlement,Istanbul. The methodology, integrated with on-site observations(observing 10 min at five different observation points in the settlement at predetermined times on weekdays and weekends),surveys(determining pedestrian movement and perception in terms of Cullen’s theory)and spatial configuration(Space Syntax analysis(connectivity, integrity)done with DepthMapX software),aims to analyze pedestrian behavior patterns. The concepts of sense of place and content,as well as the effects of their sub-concepts on their behaviors, were revealed because of a survey conducted with students and architects of variety of educational levels who are daily users of the field.Pedestrian counting and observations were used to create density, activity, and mobility maps of the area.It has been found that pedestrianized areas have a significant impact on pedestrian behavior through influencing vitality and appeal and that Cullen’s theory may be used to analyze pedestrian behavior and perceptions of the city. The study showed that spatial configuration and Cullen’s theory effect pedestrian movement by complementing each other. | Ozge Ceylin Yıldırım Elif C¸elik | 2023 | Frontiers of Architectural Research2023,12,1: | 1 |

| 18 | Improving detection of cerebral small vessel disease aetiology in patients with isolated lobar intracerebral haemorrhage显示文摘Background and purpose We evaluate whether non-haemorrhagic imaging markers(NHIM)(white matter hyperintensity patterns, lacunes and enlarged perivascular spaces(EPVS))can discriminate cerebral amyloid angiopathy(CAA)from hypertensive cerebral small vessel disease(HTN-cSVD)among patients with isolated lobar intracerebral haemorrhage(isolated-LICH).Methods In patients with isolated-LICH,four cSVD aetiologic groups were created by incorporating the presence/distribution of NHIM:HTN-cSVD pattern,CAA pattern, mixed NHIM and no NHIM.CAA pattern consisted of patients with any combination of severe centrum semiovale EPVS,lobar lacunes or multiple subcortical spots pattern.HTN-cSVD pattern consisted of any HTN-cSVD markers:severe basal ganglia PVS,deep lacunes or peribasal ganglia white matter hyperintensity pattern.Mixed NHIM consisted of at least one imaging marker from either pattern. Our hypothesis was that patients with HTN-cSVD pattern/mixed NHIM would have a higher frequency of left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH),which is associated with HTN-cSVD.Results In 261 patients with isolated-LICH,CAA pattern was diagnosed in 93 patients,HTN-cSVD pattern in 53 patients, mixed NHIM in 19 patients and no NHIM in 96 patients. The frequency of LVH was similar among those with HTN-cSVD pattern and mixed NHIM(50%vs 39%,p=0.418)but was more frequent in HTN-cSVD pattern compared with CAA pattern(50%vs 20%,p<0.001).In a regression model,HTN-cSVD pattern(OR:7.38;95%CI 2.84 to 19.20)and mixed NHIM(OR:4.45;95%CI 1.25 to 15.90)were found to be independently associated with LVH.Conclusion Among patients with isolated-LICH,NHIM may help differentiate HTN-cSVD from CAA,using LVH as a marker for HTN-cSVD. | Alvin S Das Elif Gokcal Robert W Regenhardt Mitchell J Horn Kristin Schwab Nader Daoud Anand Viswanathan W Taylor Kimberly Joshua N Goldstein Alessandro Biffi Natalia Rost Jonathan Rosand Lee H Schwamm Steven M Greenberg M Edip Gurol | 2023 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2023,8,1: | 0 |
| 19 | Clinical characteristics and outcomes of nosocomial COVID-19 in Turkey:A retrospective multicenter study显示文摘Objective:To identify the clinical characteristics and outcomes of hospital-acquired SARS-CoV-2 infection during the vaccination period nationwide in Turkey.Methods:COVID-19 patients followed in the pandemic services across Turkey between January 1,2021,and March 31,2022 were investigated retrospectively.Nosocomial COVID-19 was defined as a patient neither diagnosed with COVID-19 nor suspected COVID-19 at the hospital admission and was confirmed COVID-19≥5 days after hospital admission. The primary outcome of this study was in-hospital mortality;demographic features and vaccination status was compared between survivors and non-survivors.Results:During the study period,15573 COVID-19 patients were followed in 18 centers and 543(3.5%)patients were nosocomial COVID-19.Most patients with nosocomial COVID-19(80.4%)were transferred from medical wards.162(29.8%)of the patients with nosocomial COVID-19 admitted to the intensive care unit due to disease severity and 138(25.4%)of the patients died during hospital stay.Advanced age(≥65 years)and number of comorbid diseases(≥2)was found to be associated with mortality in nosocomial COVID-19(OR 1.74,95%CI 1.11-2.74 and OR 1.60,95%CI 1.02-2.56,respectively).Vaccination was associated with survival in nosocomial COVID-19(OR 0.25,95%CI 0.16-0.38).Conclusions:Patients with nosocomial COVID-19 had increased admission to intensive care units and higher mortality rate.Vaccination can decrease the in-hospital mortality rate. | Süleyman Yıldırım Celalettin Yılmaz Gülru Polat Serap Argun Baris İlknur Başyiğit İlknur Kaya Ceyda Anar Mihriban Bozkurt HüsnüBaykal Hulya Dirol Gamzenur Ozbey Emine Ozsari Emel Cireli Ali KadriÇırak Dursun Tatar Mine Gayaf Selen Karaoglanoglu Yener Aydin Atilla Eroglu Yıldız Olçar Berna Botan Yıldırım Bengül Gürsoy Deniz Demir Yılmaz Elif Yelda Ozgun Niksarlioglu Ramazan Eren Ayşegül Tomruk Erdem Müge Meltem Tor Fusun Fakili MustafaÇolak Merve Erçelik Ali Tabaru Özlem Ediboglu | 2023 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2023,16,8: | 0 |
