1Potential role of Th17 cells in the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease显示文摘The etiopathology of inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)remains elusive.Accumulating evidence suggests that the abnormality of innate and adaptive immunity responses plays an important role in intestinal inflammation.IBD including Crohn's disease(CD)and ulcerative colitis(UC)is a chronic inflammatory disease of the gastrointestinal tract,which is implicated in an inappropriate and overactive mucosal immune response to luminalflora.Traditionally,CD is regarded as a Th1-mediated inflammatory disorder while UC is regarded as a Th2-like disease.Recently,Th17 cells were identif ied as a new subset of T helper cells unrelated to Th1 or Th2 cells,and several cytokines [e.g.interleukin(IL)-21,IL-23] are involved in regulating their activation and differentiation.They not only play an important role in host defense against extracellular pathogens,but are also associated with the development of autoimmunity and inflammatory response such as IBD.The identif ication of Th17 cells helps us to explain some of the anomalies seen in the Th1/Th2 axis and has broadened our understanding of the immunopathological effects of Th17 cells in the development of IBD.Zhan-Ju Liu Praveen K Yadav Jing-Ling Su Jun-Shan Wang Ke Fei 2009World Journal of Gastroenterology2009,15,46:44

3Late Mesozoic extensional tectonics of the Liaodong Peninsula massif:Response of crust to continental lithosphere destruction of the North China Craton显示文摘Unlike most Precambrian cratons that have thick sub-continental lithospheric roots,the Archean lithosphere beneath the North China Craton is thin (reduced from 200 km to about 80 km),and has been replaced by a geochemically juvenile lithospheric mantle.This is a unique regional geological event,which has attracted worldwide attention.In the North China Block,Late Mesozoic extensional tectonics is evident by low-angle detachment faults,syntectonic plutons bounded by ductile faults,metamorphic core complexes (MCC) and widespread Jurassic to Cretaceous half-grabens filled by continental terrigenous deposits and volcanic rocks.At a regional scale,these structures share the same NW-SE extensional direction,while maintaining their own individual kinematics.In other words,the MCC feature a top-to-the-NW sense of shear,and syntectonic plutons are typified by a top-to-the-SE shearing deformations.Geochronological results indicate that the extensional structures were formed between 130-120 Ma.These extensional events lead to magmatic rock emplacement,distributed at the footwall of the detachment faults.Two different exhumation stages can be identified based on regional structural and magmatic interpretation:a Jurassic slow or negligible exhumation and a Cretaceous fast one assisted by normal faulting.These two cooling stages correspond to distinct geodynamic processes that occurred during the Jurassic and Cretaceous.Extensional tectonics appear to have been insignificant before the Early Cretaceous,and the process may be demonstrated by partial melting of the crust.The second stage,dominated by an extensional regime,developed after ca 120 Ma,and is tentatively correlated with crustal extension caused by lithospheric removal of the North China Craton.LIN Wei WANG QingChen WANG Jun WANG Fei CHU Yang CHEN Ke 2011Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,6:24
4A Review of Seasonal Climate Prediction Research in China显示文摘The ultimate goal of climate research is to produce climate predictions on various time scales. In China, efforts to predict the climate started in the 1930 s. Experimental operational climate forecasts have been performed since the late 1950 s,based on historical analog circulation patterns. However, due to the inherent complexity of climate variability, the forecasts produced at that time were fairly inaccurate. Only from the late 1980 s has seasonal climate prediction experienced substantial progress, when the Tropical Ocean and Global Atmosphere project of the World Climate Research program(WCRP) was launched. This paper, following a brief description of the history of seasonal climate prediction research, provides an overview of these studies in China. Processes and factors associated with the climate variability and predictability are discussed based on the literature published by Chinese scientists. These studies in China mirror aspects of the climate research effort made in other parts of the world over the past several decades, and are particularly associated with monsoon research in East Asia. As the climate warms, climate extremes, their frequency, and intensity are projected to change, with a large possibility that they will increase. 6Calcium channel blockers reduce severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) related fatality显示文摘Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS),an emerging tick-borne infectious disease caused by a novel phlebovirus (SFTS virus, SFTSV), was listed among the top 10 priority infectious diseases by the World Health Organization due to its high fatality of 12%-50% and possibility of pandemic transmission. Currently, effective anti-SFTSV intervention remains unavailable. Here, by screening a library of FDA-approved drugs, we found that benidipine hydrochloride, a calcium channel blocker (CCB), inhibited SFTSV replication in vitro. Benidipine hydrochloride was revealed to inhibit virus infection through impairing virus internalization and genome replication. Further experiments showed that a broad panel of CCBs, including nifedipine, inhibited SFTSV infection. The anti-SFTSV effect of these two CCBs was further an a lyzed in a humanized mouse model in which CCB treatment resulted in reduced viral load and decreased fatality rate. Importantly, by performing a retrospective clinical investigation on a large cohort of 2087 SFTS patients, we revealed that nifedipine administration enhaneed virus clearance, improved clinical recovery, and remarkably reduced the case fatality rate by >5-fold. 8Three-dimensional bioprinting collagen/silk fibroin scaffold combined with neural stem cells promotes nerve regeneration after spinal cord injury显示文摘Many studies have shown that bio-scaffolds have important value for promoting axonal regeneration of injured spinal cord.Indeed,cell transplantation and bio-scaffold implantation are considered to be effective methods for neural regeneration.This study was designed to fabricate a type of three-dimensional collagen/silk fibroin scaffold (3D-CF) with cavities that simulate the anatomy of normal spinal cord.This scaffold allows cell growth in vitro and in vivo.To observe the effects of combined transplantation of neural stem cells (NSCs) and 3D-CF on the repair of spinal cord injury.Forty Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into four groups: sham (only laminectomy was performed),spinal cord injury (transection injury of T10 spinal cord without any transplantation),3D-CF (3D scaffold was transplanted into the local injured cavity),and 3D-CF + NSCs (3D scaffold co-cultured with NSCs was transplanted into the local injured cavity.Neuroelectrophysiology,imaging,hematoxylin-eosin staining,argentaffin staining,immunofluorescence staining,and western blot assay were performed.Apart from the sham group,neurological scores were significantly higher in the 3D-CF + NSCs group compared with other groups.Moreover,latency of the 3D-CF + NSCs group was significantly reduced,while the amplitude was significantly increased in motor evoked potential tests.The results of magnetic resonance imaging and diffusion tensor imaging showed that both spinal cord continuity and the filling of injury cavity were the best in the 3D-CF + NSCs group.Moreover,regenerative axons were abundant and glial scarring was reduced in the 3D-CF + NSCs group compared with other groups.These results confirm that implantation of 3D-CF combined with NSCs can promote the repair of injured spinal cord.This study was approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee of People’s Armed Police Force Medical Center in 2017 (approval No.2017-0007.2).Ji-Peng Jiang Xiao-Yin Liu Fei Zhao Xiang Zhu Xiao-Yin Li Xue-Gang Niu Zi-Tong Yao Chen Dai Hui-You Xu Ke Ma Xu-Yi Chen Sai Zhang 2020Neural Regeneration Research2020,15,5:14
9Genotypic Characterization of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus Isolated from Pigs and Retail Foods in China显示文摘Objective To investigate the genotypic diversity of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA) isolated from pigs and retail foods from different geographical areas in China and further to study the routes and rates of transmission of this pathogen from animals to food. Methods Seventy-one MRSA isolates were obtained from pigs and retail foods and then characterized by multi-locus sequencing typing(MLST), spa typing, multiple-locus variable number of tandem repeat analysis(MLVA), pulsed-field gel electrophoresis(PFGE), and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Results All isolated MRSA exhibited multi-drug resistance(MDR). Greater diversity was found in food-associated MRSA(7 STs, 8 spa types, and 10 MLVA patterns) compared to pig-associated MRSA(3 STs, 1 spa type, and 6 MLVA patterns). PFGE patterns were more diverse for pig-associated MRSA than those of food-associated isolates(40 vs. 11 pulse types). Among the pig-associated isolates, CC9-ST9-t899-MC2236 was the most prevalent clone(96.4%), and CC9-ST9-t437-MC621(20.0%) was the predominant clone among the food-associated isolates. The CC9-ST9 isolates showed significantly higher antimicrobial resistance than other clones. Interestingly, CC398-ST398-t034 clone was identified from both pig-and food-associated isolates. Of note, some community-and hospital-associated MRSA strains(t030, t172, t1244, and t4549) were also identified as food-associated isolates. Conclusion CC9-ST9-t899-MC2236-MDR was the most predominant clone in pigs, but significant genetic diversity was observed in food-associated MRSA. 10Synthesis and curing of a novel amino-containing phthalonitrile derivative显示文摘A novel phthalonitrile derivative containing an amino group, 3,5-bis(3,4-dicyanophenoxy)aniline (CPA), was synthesized via a nucleophilic displacement of 4-nitrophthalonitrile and 5-aminoresorcinol hydrochloride. The structure of CPA was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectra (FT-IR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR). 14S-1 plus gemcitabine chemotherapy followed by concurrent radiotherapy and maintenance therapy with S-1 for unresectable pancreatic cancer显示文摘AIM:To investigate the feasibility and efficacy of the combination of S-1 with gemcitabine followed by oral S-1 with concurrent radiotherapy(intensity modulated radiotherapy,IMRT) and maintenance therapy with S-1 for locally advanced pancreatic cancer.METHODS:Subjects selected in the study were patients who had unresectable and locally advanced pancreatic cancer without distant metastases,adequate organ and marrow functions,an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status of 0-1 and no prior anticancer therapy. Initially the subjects received two cycles of chemotherapy,oral administration of S-1 40 mg/m2 twice daily from day 1 to day 14 of a 21-d cycle,with 30-min intravenous infusions of gemcitabine 1000 mg/m2 on day 1 and day 8. Two weeks after the completion of chemotherapy,S-1 was administered orally with concurrent IMRT. Oral S-1 was administered at a dose of 80 mg/m2 per day twice daily from day 1 to day 14 and from day 22 to day 35. Radiation was concurrently delivered at a dose of 50.4 Gy(1.8 Gy/d,5 times per week,28 fractions). One month after the completion of chemotherapy and radiotherapy,S-1 was administered orally at a dose of 80 mg/m2 per day twice daily for 14 d,followed by a 14-d rest period. This cycle was repeated as maintenance therapy,until unacceptable toxicity occurred or the disease worsened. Thirty-two patients were involved in this study. The median followup was 15.6 mo(range:8.6-32.3 mo).RESULTS:Thirty-two patients completed the scheduled course of chemotherapy,while 30 patients(93.8%) received chemoradiotherapy with two patients ceasing to continue with radiotherapy. The major toxic effects were nausea and leukopenia. There was no grade 4 toxicity or treatment-related death. According to the Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors criteria,the objective tumor response was partial response in 17(53.1%) patients,stable disease in 9(28.1%),and progressive disease in 6(18.8%). The median overall survival and median progression-free survival were 15.2 mo and 9.3 mo,respectively. 15The study of electroless Ni-W-P alloy plating on glass fibers显示文摘Ni-W-P coatings were deposited on the surface of glass fibers by the electroless plating process. The bath was very stable through the palladium salt test. There was no phenomenon of peeling and blistering on the surface of the Ni-W-P alloy glass fibers in the thermal shock test. It showed that the deposit had high impact strength and good adhesion. The morphology of the coatings was observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The elements and their contents were tested and analyzed by energy dispersion spectrometer (EDS). The tungsten content reached up to 12.1 wt.%. The effects of the concentrations of NiSO4, Na2WO4, and NaH2PO2·H2O on the conductivity of the coatings were studied. The resistivity of the Ni-W-P alloy glass fibers reached 7.39 × 10·3 ··cm. The alloy coatings on glass fibers were analyzed by XRD. The results indicated that the deposit had an amorphous structure and good heat stability. The suitable work temperature range was lower than 190°C. Finally, the electromagnetic parameters of the Ni-W-P alloy glass fibers were tested and analyzed primarily. The magnetic loss reached 0.04023 and the dielectric loss reached ·5.80239. 16The 2020/21 Extremely Cold Winter in China Influenced by the Synergistic Effect of La Niña and Warm Arctic显示文摘In the first half of winter 2020/21,China has experienced an extremely cold period across both northern and southern regions,with record-breaking low temperatures set in many stations of China.Meanwhile,a moderate La Niña event which exceeded both oceanic and atmospheric thresholds began in August 2020 and in a few months developed into its mature phase,just prior to the 2020/21 winter.In this report,the mid−high-latitude large-scale atmospheric circulation anomalies in the Northern Hemisphere,which were forced by the negative phase of Arctic Oscillation,a strengthened Siberian High,an intensified Ural High and a deepened East Asian Trough,are considered to be the direct reason for the frequent cold surges in winter 2020/21.At the same time,the synergistic effect of the warm Arctic and the cold tropical Pacific(La Niña)provided an indispensable background,at a hemispheric scale,to intensify the atmospheric circulation anomalies in middle-to-high latitudes.In the end,a most recent La Niña prediction is provided and the on-coming evolution of climate is discussed for the remaining part of the 2020/21 winter for the purpose of future decision-making and early warning.Fei ZHENG Yuan YUAN Yihui DING Kexin LI Xianghui FANG Yuheng ZHAO Yue SUN Jiang ZHU Zongjian KE Ji WANG Xiaolong JIA 2022Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2022,39,4:7
17A new species of the genus Amolops (Anura: Ranidae) from high-altitude Sichuan, southwestern China, with a discussion on the taxonomic status of Amolops kangtingensis显示文摘A new species of the genus Amolops Cope, 1865 is described from Xinduqiao, Kangding, Sichuan. It was previously identified as Amolops kangtingensis, which is synonymized to Amolops mantzorum in this study. The new species, Amolops xinduqiao sp. nov., is distinguished from all other congeners by the following combination of characters:(1) medium body size, adult males SVL 41.2–47.5 mm(n=15, average 43.9 mm), adult females SVL 48.5–56.6 mm(n=15, average 52.5 mm);(2) head length equal to width or slightly wider than long;(3) tympanum small, but distinct;(4) vomerine teeth in two tiny rows, separated by a space about one vomerine teeth row;(5) bony projections on lower jaw absent;(6) dorsolateral folds usually absent;(7) tarsal folds or glands on tarsus absent;(8) circummarginal groove on disc of finger I absent;(9) tibiotarsal articulation reaching nostril or beyond;(10) webs of toe IV reaching to distal articulation, other toes fully webbed to disc; and(11) vocal sac absent in males.Liang Fei Chang-Yuan Ye Yu-Fan Wang Ke Jiang 2017Zoological Research2017,38,3:7

20Hyperechoic demarcation line between a tumor and the muscularis propria layer as a marker for deciding the endoscopic treatment of gastric submucosal tumor显示文摘Minimally invasive endoscopic resection has been rapidly adopted as a new technique for treating patientswith gastric submucosal tumors (SMTs) originating in the muscularis propria (MP) layer. This study was conducted toevaluate the information obtained from endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) to determine the appropriate endoscopicdissection method for treating SMTs originating in the MP layer. Between February 2014 and May 2016, a total of 50patients with gastric SMTs originating in the MP layer were enrolled in this study. The clinical features of the patientsand their endoscopic, EUS, and histopathologic findings, as well as their postoperative follow-up data, were analyzedin this retrospective study. The mean age of the patients was (55.0±10.2) years, and the male/female ratio was 17:33.Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) was performed on 43 patients and an endoscopic full-thickness resection(EFR) was performed on seven patients. The most frequent location for an SMT was in the upper body region of thestomach (n=16), and the most common pathological diagnosis was a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) (n=32).The overall rates for complete resection were 95.3% (41/43) and 100.0% (7/7) when the SMTs were treated by ESDand EFR, respectively. The presence of a complete tumor capsule was significantly associated with a complete re-section (P=0.001). Of the cases treated by ESD, nine patients developed perforation, one of whom required laparo-scopic surgery. The remaining patients were closed with clips or purse-string sutures. The presence of an MP2-typetumor (P=0.018) and a wide connection with the MP layer (P=0.044) were significantly associated with perforation. Apreoperative evaluation of the integrity and the location of a tumor capsule and the length of the tumor connection withthe MP layer by EUS can improve the complete resection rate and reduce the occurrence of intraoperative complica-tions.
