1Evaluation of the seismic hazard for 20 cities in Romania using Monte Carlo based simulations显示文摘This work focuses on the evaluation of the seismic hazard for Romania using earthquake catalogues generated by a Monte Carlo approach. The seismicity of Romania can be attributed to the Vrancea intermediate-depth seismic source and to 13 other crustal seismic sources. The recurrence times of large magnitude seismic events(both crustal and subcrustal), as well as the moment release rates are computed using simulated earthquake catalogues. The results show that the largest contribution to the overall moment release for the crustal seismic sources is from the seismic regions in Bulgaria, while the seismic regions in Romania contribute less than 5% of the overall moment release. In addition, the computations show that the moment release rate for the Vrancea subcrustal seismic source is about ten times larger than that of all the crustal seismic sources. Finally, the Monte Carlo approach is used to evaluate the seismic hazard for 20 cities in Romania with populations larger than 100,000 inhabitants. The results show some differences between the seismic hazard values obtained through Monte-Carlo simulation and those in the Romanian seismic design code P100-1/2013, notably for cities situated in the western part of Romania that are influenced by local crustal seismic sources.Florin Pavel Radu Vacareanu 2017Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2017,16,3:2

3Al-driven peculiarities of local coordination and magnetic properties in single-phase Al_(x)-CrFeCoNi high-entropy alloys显示文摘Modern design of superior multi-functional alloys composed of several principal components requires in-depth studies of their local structure for developing desired macroscopic properties.Herein,peculiarities of atomic arrangements on the local scale and electronic states of constituent elements in the single-phase face-centered cubic(fcc)-and body-centered cubic(bcc)-structured high-entropy Alx-CrFeCoNi alloys(x=0.3 and 3,respectively)are explored by element-specific X-ray absorption spectroscopy in hard and soft X-ray energy ranges.Simulations based on the reverse Monte Carlo approach allow to perform a simultaneous fit of extended X-ray absorption fine structure spectra recorded at K absorption edges of each 3d constituent and to reconstruct the local environment within the first coordination shells of absorbers with high precision.The revealed unimodal and bimodal distributions of all five elements are in agreement with structure-dependent magnetic properties of studied alloys probed by magnetometry.A degree of surface atoms oxidation uncovered by soft X-rays suggests different kinetics of oxide formation for each type of constituents and has to be taken into account.X-ray magnetic circular dichroism technique employed at L2,3 absorption edges of transition metals demonstrates reduced magnetic moments of 3d metal constituents in the sub-surface region of in situ cleaned fcc-structured Al0.3-CrFeCoNi compared to their bulk values.Extended to nanostructured versions of multicomponent alloys,such studies would bring new insights related to effects of high entropy mixing on low dimensions.Alevtina Smekhova Alexei Kuzmin Konrad Siemensmeyer Chen Luo Kai Chen Florin Radu Eugen Weschke Uwe Reinholz Ana Guilherme Buzanich Kirill V.Yusenko 2022Nano Research2022,15,6:0
4Research Article Local structure and magnetic properties of a nanocrystalline Mnrich Cantor alloy thin film down to the atomic scale显示文摘The huge atomic heterogeneity of high-entropy materials along with a possibility to unravel the behavior of individual components at the atomic scale suggests a great promise in designing new compositionally complex systems with the desired multifunctionality.Herein,we apply multi-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy(extended X-ray absorption fine structure(EXAFS),Xray absorption near edge structure(XANES),and X-ray magnetic circular dichroism(XMCD))to probe the structural,electronic,and magnetic properties of all individual constituents in the single-phase face-centered cubic(fcc)-structured nanocrystalline thin film of Cr_(20)Mn_(26)Fe_(18)Co_(19)Ni_(17)(at.%)high-entropy alloy on the local scale.The local crystallographic ordering and componentdependent lattice displacements were explored within the reverse Monte Carlo approach applied to EXAFS spectra collected at the K absorption edges of several constituents at room temperature.A homogeneous short-range fcc atomic environment around the absorbers of each type with very similar statistically averaged interatomic distances(2.54-2.55Å)to their nearest-neighbors and enlarged structural relaxations of Cr atoms were revealed.XANES and XMCD spectra collected at the L2,3 absorption edges of all principal components at low temperature from the oxidized and in situ cleaned surfaces were used to probe the oxidation states,the changes in the electronic structure,and magnetic behavior of all constituents at the surface and in the sub-surface volume of the film.The spin and orbital magnetic moments of Fe,Co,and Ni components were quantitatively evaluated.The presence of magnetic phase transitions and the co-existence of different magnetic phases were uncovered by conventional magnetometry in a broad temperature range.Alevtina Smekhova Alexei Kuzmin Konrad Siemensmeyer Chen Luo James Taylor Sangeeta Thakur Florin Radu Eugen Weschke Ana Guilherme Buzanich Bin Xiao Alan Savan Kirill V.Yusenko Alfred Ludwig 2023Nano Research2023,16,4:0

6Investigation on regional attenuation of Vrancea (Romania) intermediate-depth earthquakes显示文摘This paper aims at investigating possible regional attenuation patterns in the case of Vrancea(Romania) intermediate-depth earthquakes.Almost 500 pairs of horizontal components recorded during 13 intermediate-depth Vrancea earthquakes are employed in order to evaluate the regional attenuation patterns.The recordings are grouped according to the azimuth with regard to the Vrancea seismic source and subsequently,Q models are computed for each azimuthal zone assuming similar geometrical spreading.Moreover,the local soil amplification which was disregarded in a previous analysis performed for Vrancea intermediate-depth earthquakes is now clearly evaluated.The results show minor differences between the four regions situated in front of the Carpathian Mountains and considerable differences in attenuation of seismic waves between the forearc and backarc regions(with regard to the Carpathian Mountains).Consequently,an average Q model of the type Q(f) = 115×f^(1.25) is obtained for the four forearc regions,while a separate Q model of the type Q(f) = 70×f^(0.90) is computed for the backarc region.These results highlight the need to evaluate the seismic hazard of Romania by using ground motion models which take into account the different attenuation between the forearc/backarc regions.Florin Pavel Radu Vacareanu 2018Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2018,17,3:0
7Bi-normalized response spectra and seismic intensity in Bucharest for 1986 and 1990 Vrancea seismic events显示文摘The Vrancea subcrustal earthquakes of August 30,1986 and May 30,1990 are the two most recent seismic events that have occurred in Romania with moment magnitudes M W ≥ 6.9.The spectral analysis of the strong ground motions recorded in Bucharest reveals that despite small differences in magnitude between the 1986 and 1990 earthquakes,their frequency contents are very different,sometimes even opposing.The main focus of this study is to conduct a comparative analysis of the response spectra in terms of the bi-normalized response spectra(BNRS) proposed by Xu and Xie(2004 and 2007) for strong ground motions recorded in Bucharest during these two seismic events.The mean absolute acceleration and relative velocity response spectra for the two earthquakes are discussed and compared.Furthermore,the mean bi-normalized absolute acceleration and normalized relative velocity response spectra with respect to the control period T C are computed for the ground motions recorded in Bucharest in 1986 and 1990.The predominant period T P is also used in this study for the normalization of the spectral period axis.Subsequently,the methodology proposed by Martinez-Perreira and Bommer(1998) is applied in order to estimate the seismic intensity of the two events.The results are discussed and several conclusions regarding the possibility of using the bi-normalized response spectra(BNRS) are given.Florin Pavel Radu Vacareanu Cristian Neagu Andrei Pricopie 2014Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2014,13,1:0
8Investigation on directional effects of Vrancea subcrustal earthquakes显示文摘This paper evaluates possible directional effects from strong ground motions recorded during the last four significant subcrustal earthquakes produced in the Vrancea seismic zone(Romania) in August 1986(M_w=7.1),May 1990(M_w=6.9 and 6.4) and October 2004(M_w=6.0).Several measures of the horizontal component of the ground motion given in the literature(Boore et al.,2006;Boore,2010) are computed and are related to the geometric mean of the as-recorded horizontal components.ANOVA method is applied in order to quantify the influence of the earthquake magnitude and of the soil class on some strong ground motion parameters(e.g.Arias intensity,PGV/PGA,or mean period T_M).The study of the directional effects is performed using the distribution of I_(JMA) and of the rotation angle corresponding to a measure of the horizontal component of the ground motion(RotD 100) and the results reveal a visible directional pattern for I_(JMA),while in the case of RotD100 the directional patterns are less visible.Florin Pavel Radu Vacareanu Mircea Radulian Carmen Cioflan 2015Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2015,14,3:0
