| 1 | Staged angioplasty versus regular carotid artery stenting in patients with carotid artery stenosis at high risk of hyperperfusion:a randomised clinical trial显示文摘Background and purpose Hyperperfusion(HP)is a devastating complication associated with carotid artery stenting(CAS)or endarterectomy. The efficacy and safety of staged angioplasty(SAP)in patients with CAS at high risk of HP remains unclear. We sought to determine whether SAP is superior to regular CAS in patients with high risk of HP.Methods A randomised, multicentre open-label clinical trial with blinded outcome assessment(STEP)was conducted.Patients with severe carotid stenosis at high risk of HP were randomly assigned(1:1)to the SAP or regular CAS group. The primary endpoint was hyperperfusion syndrome(HPS)and intracerebral haemorrhage(ICH)within 30 days after the procedure. Results From November 2014 to January 2017,a total of 64 patients were enrolled in 11 centres.33 patients were allocated to the SAP group and 31 to the regular CAS group. At 30 days, the rate of primary endpoint was 0.0%(0/33)in the SAP group and 9.7%(3/31)in the regular CAS group(absolute risk reduction(ARR),9.7%;95%CI−20.1% to 0.7%;p=0.11).As one of the secondary endpoints, the incidence of HP phenomenon(HPP)was lower in the SAP group than the regular CAS group(0.0%vs 22.6%,ARR,−22.6%;95% CI−36.8%to−10.2%;p=0.04).Conclusion The rate of HPS and ICH was not significantly lower in SAP group;the extended secondary endpoint of HPP,however, significantly reduced, which suggested that SAP may be a safe and effective carotid revascularisation procedure to prevent HP. | Dapeng Mo Baixue Jia Huaizhang Shi Yaxuan Sun Qingan Liu Chengzhe Fan Jianping Deng Jinglin Yuan Wei Wu Changchun Jiang Guilian Zhang Hanjun Du Ning Ma Feng Gao Xuan Sun Ligang Song Lian Liu Guangge Peng Yongjun Wang Yilong Wang Zhongrong Miao the STEP Study Group | 2021 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2021,6,1: | 3 |
| 2 | Simulation and analysis of the carrying capacity for road networks using a grid-based approach显示文摘The number of vehicles that a road network can carry is limited. When the limit is exceeded, the network system is not able to function effectively. In this paper,an updated cellular automaton model for grid networks with all-way stop-controlled intersections is proposed to simulate the network level critical density and carrying capacity under different conditions, which essentially indicates the limit number of vehicles that the network can handle before going into gridlock. In the proposed model, two update rules, including lane-changing and the longitudinal location update, are adopted to describe the vehicle’s movements on road segments according to the driving condition on the road and the vehicle’s direction in the downstream intersection. The vehicle’s movements in intersection areas are prioritized based on vehicle’s position,so as to prevent collisions within the intersection area. The simulation results show that an increase in network size is able to expand the carrying capacity of a road network, whereas the expansion rate is lower than the change rate in the network size. The carrying capacity is also associated with the structure of road network. The carrying capacity is inversely proportional to the number of intersections, and proportional to the length of the road in the network. Also, optimizing the origin-destination(O-D)distribution can increase the carrying capacity of an urban road network. | Junqing Shi Linwu Chen Fengxiang Qiao Lei Yu Qing Li Guilian Fan | 2020 | Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering(English Edition)2020,7,4: | 3 |

| 7 | Grain Shape Genes:Shaping the Future of Rice Breeding显示文摘The main goals of rice breeding nowadays include increasing yield, improving grain quality, and promoting complete mechanized production to save labor costs.Rice grain shape, specified by three dimensions, including grain length, width and thickness, has a more precise meaning than grain size, contributing to grain appearance quality as well as grain weight and thus yield.Furthermore, the divergence of grain shape characters could be utilized in mechanical seed sorting in hybrid rice breeding systems, which has been succeeded in utilizing heterosis to achieve substantial increase in rice yield in the past decades.Several signaling pathways that regulate rice grain shape have been elucidated, including G protein signaling,ubiquitination-related pathway,mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling, phytohormone biosynthesis and signaling, micro RNA process, and some other transcriptional regulatory pathways and regulators. This review summarized the recent progress on molecular mechanisms underlying rice grain shape determination and the potential of major genes in future breeding applications. | LU Xuedan LI Fan XIAO Yunhua WANG Feng ZHANG Guilian DENG Huabing TANG Wenbang | 2023 | Rice science2023,30,5: | 0 |
