1Large-scale Vacuum Vessel Design and Finite Element Analysis显示文摘The vacuum plume effects experimental system (PES) is the first experimental system designed to study the effects of vacuum plume in China. The main equipment, a vacuum chamber of 5.5 m in diameter and 12.8 m in length, and structure design of hinged door are described. The finite element method (FEM) is adopted to analyze the static strength and stability of the PES vacuum chamber. It is demonstrated that the static strength and stability are qualified. For the 5.5 m diameter vacuum chamber door, three design schemes are put forward. After comparisons are made, the single-axis-double-pin hinged door is selected. The FEM is applied to checking its static strength as well as distortions. The results show that the door's distortion and displacement change mainly due to the gravity of the door which leads to its sinking. The calculated displacement is less than 7.8 mm, while the actual measurement is 5 mm. The single-axis-double-pin hinged door mechanism completely satisfies the design requirements. 2Early Eocene Radiolarian Fauna from the Sangdanlin, Southern Tibet: Constraints on the Timing of Initial India-Asia Collision显示文摘This is a new report on the early Eocene radiolarian fauna from the Sangdanlin section in the Gyirong region, along the southern margin of the Yarlung Zangbo Suture Zone. The Sangdanlin section measured in this study is divided into three lithostratigraphic units from bottom to top: the Zongzhuo, Sangdanlin, and Zheya formations. Abundant radiolarian fossils were obtained from the Sangdanlin section and 54 species of 30 genera were identified and assigned as follows: Cryptamphorella conara-C. macropora the late Cretaceous Zone and Amphisphaera coronate, Buryella tetradica-Bekoma campechensis, and B.bidartensis-B. divaricata the Paleocene-early Eocene Interval Zones. The Paleocene–early Eocene radiolarian zones are comparable to the radiolarian zones RP4-RP8 in New Zealand. Based on the data of radiolaria and lithofacies, it is suggested that the Zongzhuo Formation should be deposited along the base of the north-facing, continental slope of the Greater Indian continental margin, and the Sangdanlin Formation should be a deep marine, sedimentary sequence located in a foreland basin. 3Multi-disciplinary design optimization with fuzzy uncertainties and its application in hybrid rocket motor powered launch vehicle显示文摘In this paper,an Uncertainty-based Multi-disciplinary Design Optimization (UMDO)method combining with fuzzy theory and Multi-Discipline Feasible (MDF) method is developed for the conceptual design of a Hybrid Rocket Motor (HRM) powered Launch Vehicle (LV).In the method proposed,membership functions are used to represent the uncertain factors,the fuzzy statistical experiment is introduced to analyze the propagation of uncertainties,and means,standard deviations and credibility measures are used to delineate uncertain responses.A geometric programming problem is solved to verify the feasibility of the Fuzzy-based Multi-Discipline Feasible(F-MDF) method.A multi-disciplinary analysis of a three-stage HRM powered LV involving the disciplines of propulsion,structure,aerodynamics and trajectory is implemented,and the mathematical models corresponding to the F-MDF method and the MDF method are established.A two-phase optimization method is proposed for multi-disciplinary design optimization of the LV,including the orbital capacity optimization phase based on the Ziolkowski formula,and the scheme trajectory verification phase based on the 3-degree-of-freedom point trajectory simulation.The correlation coefficients and the quadratic Response Surface Method (RSM) based on Latin Hypercube Sampling (LHS) are adopted for sensitive analysis of uncertain factors,and the Multi-Island Genetic Algorithm (MIGA) is adopted as the optimization algorithm.The results show that the F-MDF method is applicable in LV conceptual design,and the design with the F-MDF method is more reliable and robust than that with the MDF method.Pengcheng WANG Hui TIAN Hao ZHU Guobiao CAI 2020Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2020,33,5:6
4Inversion of particle size distribution from light-scattering data using a modified regularization algorithm显示文摘A modified regularization algorithm with a more proper operator was proposed for the inversion of particle size distribution(PSD) from light-scattering data in a laser particle sizer based on the Mie scattering principle.The Generalized Cross-Validation(GCV) method and the L-curve method were used for determining the regularization parameter.The Successive Over-Relaxation(SOR) iterative method was used to increase the exactness and stability of the converged result.The simulated results based on the modified algorithm are in a good agreement with the experimental data measured for nine standard particulate samples,their mixtures as well as three natural particulate materials with irregular shapes,indicating that this modified regularization method is not only feasible but also effective for the simulation of PSD from corresponding light-scattering data.Yanmin Wang Guobiao Liang Zhidong Pan 2010Particuology2010,8,4:5
5Analysis of precipitation in a Cu-Cr-Zr alloy显示文摘Precipites in Cu-0.42%Cr-0.21%Zr alloy were analyzed by using scanning electron microscope(SEM),energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDXS)and transmission electron microscope(TEM).After the solid solution was performed at 980oC for 2 h,water-quenched and aged at 450oC for 20 h,the precipite had a bimodal distribution of precipitate size.The coarse precipitates are pure Cr and Cu5Zr,the dispersed fine precipitate is CrCu2(Zr,Mg)and pure Cr ranging from 1 to 50 nm.The coarse phases formed during solidification and were left undissolved during solid solution.The fine precipitates are the hardening precipitates that form due to decomposition of the supersaturated solid solution during aging.Zhao Mei Lin Guobiao wang Zidong Zhang Maokui 2008China Foundry2008,5,4:5
6Effects of axial gap and nozzle distribution on aerodynamic forces of a supersonic partial-admission turbine显示文摘The turbine in an LH2/LOX rocket engine is designed as a two-stage supersonic partialadmission turbine. Three-dimensional steady and unsteady simulations were conducted to analyze turbine performance and aerodynamic forces on rotor blades. Different configurations were employed to investigate the effects of the axial gap and nozzle distribution on the predicted performance and aerodynamic forces. Rotor blades experience unsteady aerodynamic forces because of the partial admission. Aerodynamic forces show periodicity in the admission region, and are close to zero after leaving the admission region. The unsteady forces in frequency domain indicate that components exist in a wide frequency region, and the admission passing frequency is dominant.Those multiples of the rotational frequency which are multiples of the nozzle number in a fulladmission turbine are notable components. Results show that the turbine efficiency decreases as the axial gap between nozzles and the 1 st stage rotor(rotor 1) increases. Fluctuation of the circumferential aerodynamic force on rotor 1 blades decreases with the axial gap increasing. The turbine efficiency decreases as the circumferential spacing between nozzles increases. Fluctuations of the circumferential and axial aerodynamic forces increase as the circumferential spacing increases. 7Effects of axial gap on aerodynamic force and response of shrouded and unshrouded blade显示文摘Forced response analysis of a rocket engine turbine blade was conducted by a decoupled fluid-structure interaction procedure.Aerodynamic forces on the rotor blade were obtained using 3D unsteady flow simulations. The resulting aerodynamic forces were interpolated to the finite element(FE) model through surface effect elements prior to conducting forced response calculations.Effects of axial gap on aerodynamic forces were studied. In addition, influence of axial gap on the response of the shrouded blade was compared with that on the response of the unshrouded blade. Results demonstrated that as the axial gap increases,time-averaged pressure on the blade surface changes very little, while the pressure fluctuations decrease significantly. Pressure and aerodynamic forces on the blade surface display periodic variation, and the vane passing frequency component is dominant.Amplitudes of aerodynamic forces decrease with increasing axial gap. Restricted by the shroud, deformation and response of shrouded blade are much lower than those of the unshrouded blade. The response of unshrouded blade shows obvious beat vibration phenomenon, while the response of the shrouded blade does not have this characteristic because the shroud restrains multiple harmonics. Blade response in time domain was converted to frequency domain using fast Fourier transformation(FFT).Results revealed that the axial gap mainly affects the forced harmonic at the vane passing frequency, while the other two harmonics at natural frequency are hardly affected. 8Steady-state coupled analysis of flowfields and thermochemical erosion of C/C nozzles in hybrid rocket motors显示文摘A hybrid rocket can be used in various applications and is an attractive propulsion system.However,serious erosion of nozzles is common in motor firing operations,which could restrict the application of hybrid rocket motors.Usually,the serious erosion is attributed to the high concentration of oxidizing species in hybrid motors,while the details of flowfields in the motors are not paid special attention to.In this paper,first the thermochemical erosion of C/C nozzle is simulated coupled with the flowfields in a 98%H2O2/hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene(HTPB)hybrid rocket motor.The simulation is made on a typical axisymmetric motor,including a pre-combustion chamber,an aft-combustion chamber and nozzle structures.Thermochemical reactions of H2O,CO2,OH,O and O2with C are taken into account.Second,the change of flowfields due to fuel regression during motor firing operations is considered.Nozzle erosion in different flowfields is evaluated.Third,the results of nozzle erosion in the coupled simulation are compared with those under uniform and chemical equilibrium flow and motor firing test results.The results of simulation and firing tests indicate that the thermochemical erosion of nozzles in hybrid motors should be calculated coupled with flowfields in the motor.In uniform and chemical equilibrium flowfields,the erosion rate is overestimated.The diffusion flame in hybrid motors protects the nozzle surface from the injected oxidizer and high temperature products in flowfields,leading to a relatively fuel-rich environment above the nozzle.The influence of OH and the geometry of motor should also be considered in the evaluation of nozzle erosion in hybrid motors.ZHAO Sheng TIAN Hui WANG PengFei YU NanJia CAI GuoBiao 2015Science China(Technological Sciences)2015,58,3:2
9Perovskite-based color camera inspired by human visual cells显示文摘There are two primary types of photoreceptor cells in the human eye:cone cells and rod cells that enable color vision and night vision,respectively.Herein,inspired by the function of human visual cells,we develop a high-resolution perovskite-based color camera using a set of narrowband red,green,blue,and broadband white perovskite photodetectors as imaging sensors.The narrowband red,green,and blue perovskite photodetectors with color perceptions mimic long-,medium-,and short-wavelength cones cells to achieve color imaging ability.Also,the broadband white perovskite photodetector with better detectivity mimics rod cells to improve weak-light imaging ability.Our perovskite-based camera,combined with predesigned pattern illumination and image reconstruction technology,is demonstrated with high-resolution color images(up to 256 x 256 pixels)in diffuse mode.This is far beyond previously reported advanced perovskite array image sensors that only work in monochrome transmission mode.This work shows a new approach to bio-inspired cameras and their great potential to strongly mimic the ability of the natural eve.Yujin Lu Zhong Ji Guobiao Cen Hengchao Sun Haibao Wang Chuanxi Zhao Zhong Lin Wang Wenjie Mai 2023Light(Science & Applications)2023,12,2:2
10High flowrate injector with gaseous hydrogen and gaseous oxygen显示文摘In order to get a high flowrate gas-gas injector and its design methodology,the combustion flow field of a typical shear-coaxial injector was analyzed firstly.The dimensional analysis was applied in the phenomenon of gas-gas combustion,and design parameter optimization and a structure improvement were also carried out.A high flowrate single-element injector with high H2/O2 momentum ratio and tapered O2 post tip was obtained and validated by both numerical and experimental studies.This high flowrate injector has simple construction and it can effectively enhance the mixing,decrease the combustion completion length and also has a benign heat environment.Furthermore,based on the study of the single-element injector,numerical optimization and validation experiments were conducted successively on a multi-element injector equipped with high flowrate injection elements.The multi-element injector with the high flowrate elements started up and shut down smoothly,and operated steadily without any stability aids.In the combustor designed with nominal parameters,this injection element can obtain high combustion efficiency with a flowrate of 3.7 times that of SSME main injector element and shows a benign chamber wall heat compatibility.This injector design and the design methodology can become a reference for the design of other types of injectors for liquid rocket engines.WANG XiaoWei CAI GuoBiao GAO YuShan HUO HongFa 2011Science China(Technological Sciences)2011,54,11:1

14Numerical study of high-pressure GO_2/GH_2 combustion of a single-element injector显示文摘A single-element shear-coaxial combustor using gaseous hydrogen(GH2) and oxygen(GO2) was designed and hot-tested.The wall temperature was measured.The combustion flowfield of this GH2 /GO2 single-element combustor was modeled by RANS(Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes) and LES(Large Eddy Simulation) methods respectively.The impact of using various turbulence and turbulent combustion models was investigated to obtain the model combination which best represented the experimental data in the RANS modeling.The flamelet model was used in the LES modeling and the validity of its application to the GH2 /GO2 combustion in the combustor was carefully examined.The combustor wall heat flux distributions of both RANS and LES results show good agreement with the experimental data.The experimental wall temperature distribution can be clearly explained through analyzing the inner flowfield structure.The results indicate that both RANS and LES used in this paper can give good predictions of the development of the whole flowfield and the combustion completion length.LES can resolve large-scale flow motions in the combustor and accurately predict the influence of the wall heat loss on the combustion efficiency.WANG XiaoWei CAI GuoBiao HUO HongFa 2012Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,10:1

18Geometric effects of fuel regression rate in hybrid rocket motors显示文摘The geometric configuration of the solid fuel is a key parameter affecting the fuel regression rate in hybrid rocket motors. In this paper, a semi-empirical regression rate model is developed to investigate the geometric effect on the fuel regression rate by incorporating the hydraulic diameter into the classical model. The semi-empirical model indicates that the fuel regression rate decreases with increasing hydraulic diameter and is proportional to dh?0.2 when convective heat transfer is dominant. Then a numerical model considering turbulence, combustion, solid fuel pyrolysis, and a solid–gas coupling model is established to further investigate the geometric effect. Eight motors with different solid fuel grains are simulated, and four methods of scaling the regression rate between different solid fuel grains are compared. The results indicate that the solid fuel regression rates are approximate the same when the hydraulic diameters are equal. 20A Planar 4-Bit Reconfigurable Antenna Array Based on the Design Philosophy of Information Metasurfaces显示文摘Inspired by the design philosophy of information metasurfaces based on the digital coding concept,a planar 4-bit reconfigurable antenna array with low profile of 0.15λ0(whereλ0is the free-space wavelength)is presented.The array is based on a digital coding radiation element consisting of a 1-bit magnetoelectric(ME)dipole and a miniaturized reflection-type phase shifter(RTPS).The proposed 1-bit ME dipole can provide two digital states of'0'and'1'(with 0°and 180°phase responses)over a wide frequency band by individually exciting its two symmetrical feeding ports.The designed RTPS is able to realize a relative phase shift of 173°.By digitally quantizing its phase in the range of 157.5°,additional eight digital states at intervals of 22.5°are obtained.To achieve low sidelobe levels,a 1:16 power divider based on the Taylor line source method is employed to feed the array,A prototype of the proposed 4-bit antenna array has been fabricated and tested,and the experimental results are in good agreement with the simulations.Scanning beams within a±45°range were measured with a maximum realized gain of 13.4 dBi at12 GHz.The sidelobe and cross-polarization levels are below-14.3 and-23.0 dB,respectively.Furthermore,the beam pointing error is within 0.8°,and the 3 dB gain bandwidth of the broadside beam is 25%.Due to its outstanding performance,the array holds potential for significant applications in radar and wireless communication systems.Zheng Xing Wang Hanqing Yang Ruiwen Shao Jun Wei Wu Guobiao Liu Feng Zhai Qiang Cheng Tie Jun Cui 2022Engineering2022,,10:0
