1Effectiveness of Different Waist Circumference Cut-off Values in Predicting Metabolic Syndrome Prevalence and Risk Factors in Adults in China显示文摘Objective To study the effectiveness of waist circumference cut-off values in predicting the prevalence of metabolic syndrome(MetS) and risk factors in adults in China. Methods A cross-sectional survey was condcuted in 14 provinces(autonomous region, municipality) in China. A total of 47 325 adults aged ≥20 years were selected by multistage stratified sampling, and questionnaire survey and physical and clinical examination were conducted among them. MetS was defined according to the International Diabetes Federation(IDF) criteria and modified IDF criteria.Results The age-standardized prevalence of MetS was 24.2%(22.1% in men and 25.8% in women) and 19.5%(22.1% in men and 18.0% in women) according to the IDF criteria and modified IDF criteria respectively. The age-standardized prevalence of pre-MetS was 8.1%(8.6% in men and 7.8% in women) according to the modified IDF criteria. The prevalence of MetS was higher in urban residents than rural residents and in northern China residents than in southern China residents. The prevalence of central obesity was about 30% in both men and women according to the ethnicity-specific cut-off values of waist circumference for central obesity(90 cm for men and 85 cm for women). Multivariate regression analysis revealed no significant difference in risk factors between the two MetS definitions. 5Hepatic macrophages in drug-induced liver injury显示文摘Drug-induced liver injury(DILI)is a major public health concern.Intrinsic DILI,for example,acetaminophen overdose accounts for half of acute liver failure in the United States.However,the most problematic type of DILI affecting drug development and health care is idiosyncratic DILI,which occurs unpredictably in a small population of patients taking the drug and the latency could be several weeks to months.Recent knowledge on the pathogenesis of DILI suggest that hepatic macrophages play a central role in the initiation,progression and restoration stages of DILI,which make hepatic macrophages attractive as therapeutic targets.Hepatic macrophages consist of liver resident macrophages(also known as Kupffer cells,KCs)and infiltrating monocyte-derived macrophages(MoMF).There is a growing appreciation that hepatic macrophage is very plastic,and assumes diverse phenotypes and functions in response to micro-environmental cues.In this review,we will summarize studies on the role of hepatic macrophages in both intrinsic DILI and idiosyncratic DILI,followed by discussing the prognostic and therapeutic potentials of targeting hepatic macrophages and the obstacles in studying hepatic macrophages.Zhao Shan Cynthia Ju 2019Liver Research2019,3,3:4

7Mzb1 protects against myocardial infarction injury in mice via modulating mitochondrial function and alleviating inflammation显示文摘Myocardial infarction(MI)leads to the loss of cardiomyocytes,left ventricle dilation and cardiac dysfunction,eventually developing into heart failure.Mzb1(Marginal zone B and B1 cell specific protein 1)is a B-cell-specific and endoplasmic reticulum-localized protein.Mzb1 is an inflammation-associated factor that participates a series of inflammatory processes,including chronic periodontitis and several cancers.In this study we investigated the role of Mzb1 in experimental models of MI.MI was induced in mice by ligation of the left descending anterior coronary artery,and in neonatal mouse ventricular cardiomyocytes(NMVCs)by H2O_(2)treatment in vitro.We showed that Mzb1 expression was markedly reduced in the border zone of the infarct myocardium of MI mice and in H2O_(2)-treated NMVCs.In H2O_(2)-treated cardiomyocytes,knockdown of Mzb1 decreased mitochondrial membrane potential,impaired mitochondrial function and promoted apoptosis.On contrary,overexpression of Mzb1 improved mitochondrial membrane potential,ATP levels and mitochondrial oxygen consumption rate(OCR),and inhibited apoptosis.Direct injection of lentiviral vector carrying Len-Mzb1 into the myocardial tissue significantly improved cardiac function and alleviated apoptosis in MI mice.We showed that Mzb1 overexpression significantly decreased the levels of Bax/Bcl-2 and cytochrome c and improved mitochondrial function in MI mice via activating the AMPK-PGC1αpathway.In addition,we demonstrated that Mzb1 recruited the macrophages and alleviated inflammation in MI mice.We conclude that Mzb1 is a crucial regulator of cardiomyocytes after MI by improving mitochondrial function and reducing inflammatory signaling pathways,implying a promising therapeutic target in ischemic cardiomyopathy.Lu Zhang Yi-ning Wang Jia-ming Ju Azaliia Shabanova Yue Li Ruo-nan Fang Jia-bin Sun Ying-ying Guo Tong-zhu Jin Yan-yan Liu Tian-yu Li Hong-li Shan Hai-hai Liang Bao-feng Yang 2021Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2021,42,5:3
8The impact of the COVID‑19 outbreak on Chinese‑listed tourism stocks显示文摘This research explored the effects of the coronavirus disease(COVID-19)outbreak on stock price movements of China’s tourism industry by using an event study method.The results showed that the crisis negatively impacted tourism sector stocks.Further quantile regression analyses supported the non-linear relationship between the government’s responses and stock returns.The results present that the resurgence of the virus in Beijing did bring about a short-term negative impact on the tourism industry.The empirical results can be used for future researchers to conduct a comparative study of cultural differences concerning government responses to the COVID-19.Wenmin Wu Chien‑Chiang Lee Wenwu Xing Shan‑Ju Ho 2021Financial Innovation2021,7,1:3
9Deciphering Ascorbic Acid Regulatory Pathways in Ripening Tomato Fruit Using a Weighted Gene Correlation Network Analysis Approach显示文摘Genotype is generally determined by the co-expression of diverse genes and multiple regulatory pathways in plants.Gene co-expression analysis combining with physiological trait data provides very important information about the gene function and regulatory mechanism.L-Ascorbic acid(AsA),which is an essential nutrient component for human health and plant metabolism,plays key roles in diverse biological processes such as cell cycle,cell expansion,stress resistance,hormone synthesis,and signaling.Here,we applied a weighted gene correlation network analysis approach based on gene expression values and AsA content data in ripening tomato(Solanum lycopersicum L.)fruit with different AsA content levels,which leads to identifcation of AsA relevant modules and vital genes in AsA regulatory pathways.Twenty-four modules were compartmentalized according to gene expression profling.Among these modules,one negatively related module containing genes involved in redox processes and one positively related module enriched with genes involved in AsA biosynthetic and recycling pathways were further analyzed.The present work herein indicates that redox pathways as well as hormone-signal pathways are closely correlated with AsA accumulation in ripening tomato fruit,and allowed us to prioritize candidate genes for follow-up studies to dissect this interplay at the biochemical and molecular level.Chao Gao Zheng Ju Shan Li Jinhua Zuo Daqi Fu Huiqin Tian Yunbo Luo Benzhong Zhu 2013Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2013,55,11:3

11Changes in Chilled Chicken Quality and Correlation Analysis during Different Shelf Life显示文摘[Objective] The paper was to study the change rule and correlation analysis of quality indexes of chilled chicken within 7 d shelf life.[Method] Six pieces of fresh breast muscle were packaged in polyethylene(PE) food storage bags,labeled,and refrigerated at 4 ℃.The p H,water loss rate,tenderness,color value and inosinic acid content of chicken were measured at different time points of preservation(cold storage for 0,1,2,3,6,7 d).[Result] With the prolongation of shelf life,the p H of chilled chicken first increased then tended to be stable;the water loss rate first increased then stabilized;the shear force first decreased then increased.There was little difference in brightness value(L*) of chilled chicken dur-ing different shelf life(P>0.05).The red degree value(a*) decreased with the prolongation of shelf life;the yellow degree value(b*) increased with the extension of shelf life.The inosinic acid content decreased with the prolongation of shelf life.The p H of chilled chicken in different shelf life had significant positive correlation with water loss rate(P<0.05) and extremely significant negative correlation with shear force(P<0.01).[Conclusion]The shelf life of 7 d has impact on meat color and inosinic acid of chilled chicken.Cold fresh preservation of chilled chicken should be less than 6 d;p H has certain correlation with water loss rate and shear force.Ju Xiaojun Tu Yunjie Zou Jianmin Zhang Ming Ji Gaige Shan Yanju Liu Yifan Shu Jingting 2018Animal Husbandry and Feed Science2018,10,2:2
12Viral vectors as a novel tool for clinical and neuropsychiatric research applications显示文摘Background A viral vector is a genetically modified vector produced by genetic engineering. As pathogenic genes in the virus are completely or largely eliminated, it is safe to be widely used in multidisciplinary research fields for expressing genes, such as neuroscience, metabolism, oncology and so on. Neuroscience and psychiatry are the most closely related disciplines in either basic research or clinical research, but the application of viral vectors in neuropsychiatry has not received much attention or not been widely accepted.Aim This article will focus on the application of viral vectors in basic and clinical neuropsychiatric research.Methods By using viral vectors, scientists can perform neurological labelling, gene expression regulation and physiological manipulation for investigating phenomenon from molecular mechanisms to behaviours. At the same time, to treat mental or neurological disorders, viral vectors can be designed for gene therapy, which alter gene expression levels or repair mutated genes in the brains of patients.Perspective Viral vectors play an important role in basic research and clinical applications. 16Promoting Si-graphite composite anodes with SWCNT additives for half and NCM 811 full lithium ion batteries and assessment criteria from an industrial perspective显示文摘Single wall carbon nanotube(SWCNT)additives were formulated into(im-Si-graphite composite electrodes and tested in both half cells and full cells with high nickel cathodes.The critical role of small amount of SWCNT addition(0.2 wt%)was found for significantly improving delithiation capacity,first cycle coulombic efficiency(FCE),and capacity retention.Particularly,Si(10 wt%)-graphite electrode exhibits 560 mAh/g delithiation capacity and 92%FCE at 0.2 C during the first chargedischarge cycle,and 91%capacity retention after 50 cycles(0.5 C)in a half cell.Scanning electron microscope(SEM)was used to illustrate the electrode morphology,compositions and promoting function of the SWCNT additives.In addition,full cells assembled with high nickel-NCM811 cathodes and fim-Si-graphite composite anodes were evaluated for the consistence between half and full cell performance,and the consideration for potential commercial application.Finally,criteria to assess Si-containing anodes are proposed and discussed from an industrial perspective.Jingning SHAN Xiaofang YANG Chao YAN Lin CHEN Fang ZHAO Yiguang JU 2019Frontiers in Energy2019,13,4:1
